When I’m arrested for killing a member of the Coven Council, I’m pretty sure we’ll get things straightened out quickly – after all, my victim was a black witch and she was trying to kill me too. Like most things in my competitive life, I just got there first.
Separated from my alluring bodyguard Bastion, I order him not to rescue me by any means necessary. My griffin protector will happily leave a trail of bodies behind him if it means securing my freedom, but we have to play this smart because the Coven Council might not be pulling the strings. If I'm right and the Black Coven is manipulating events, including trying to orchestrate our doom, I must stop them no matter the cost.
I need to clear my name and free myself, then I need to face facts. My mum keeps telling me there’s a prophecy with my name on it… I’m done burying my head in the sand. It’s time to visit the seers and see what they have to say about my future.
Here’s hoping I stay alive long enough to have one.
Don't miss this witchy series if you like humour, heart and a strong heroine with a slow burn, enemies to lovers, fade-to-black romance.

I love it when you read a book and you think you know but then you're wrong, shocked and didn't see it coming.... yeah, exactly that! I cannot believe my emotions are still high in these books... this might be book 3 for Amber but it's book 17 (including shorts) in the reading order... I am completely and irrevocably addicted!
At this point in this series, things are dicing up and I am loving it! Amber’s character has grown and softened enough to accept people into her life and learned to love and give love (something terribly needed). The author has done such an incredible job of ever so subtly initiating this growth that it is a joy to read. That, along with the interesting plotline that twists and turns at every corner, makes this such a fun book to read!
The only disappointment (and the reason I couldn’t give the book a five star rating) was with Bastion. In all previous books and series, he has been such a strong, vibrant character (and a particular favorite of mine). Now, unfortunately, he is relegated to nothing more than a cardboard shadow meant only for supporting and giving rides to Amber. We continue to be “told” how strong and powerful he is and how everyone fears him, but we never see it. And that is truly a travesty. I know Amber is the main protagonist in this series but that doesn’t have to be at the expense of another hugely interesting main character. Both can show their strengths without diminishing the other.
Familiar of the Witch is book three in The Other Witch sereis by Heather G. Harris.
This novel answers so many questions and continues the overall story ARC. The thrill and excitement of this story is palpable and the romance is a slow-burn which hits it peek.
Amber’s character is growing and changing. She’s softening up and accepting that the people around her are her friends, collogues, and lover. She also learns who her father is and finally we hear the prophecy that everyone has been hinting at.
As for BastionI adore him, but he feel into the supporting roll in this installment and I was a bit disappointed on that. He’s been such a strong and vibrant character.
Familiar of the Witch gives us loads of reveals, surprises and action. I thoroughly enjoyed reading and I can’t wait to dive into the next novel and find out what’s next.
This book was a masterclass in storytelling, answering questions while simultaneously raising even more. I was constantly exclaiming, 'I knew it!' as the plot unfolded, and there were moments that left me breathless with anticipation. The thrill and excitement were palpable from page one to the last, and the slow-burn romance between Amber and Bastion was incredibly satisfying. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book, and I found myself reaching for that extra cup of tea ☕ to savor the captivating storyline, the steamy romance, and the well-developed characters.
This series continues to get even better. As Amber faces the enemy coven of black witches, she is growing both personally and magically into the witch she always was meant to be. Her relationship with Bastion holds a surprise or two, but it’s been wonderful seeing them grow closer.
I look forward to seeing what Harris has next in store for them!
“It had taken me a long time, but maybe I was finally learning how to play nicely with others.”
Amber has found her way. Even though she always had main character energy, we’ve seen her develop from a sort of one dimensional, supporting character into someone who is more well-rounded. We’ve watched her find friends and now we are watching her build family as she steps into her destiny.
This one moves fast but not unrealistically so. This series isn’t over so there are still loose ends but it is a satisfying addition that moves the story along nicely. It is the natural result of Harris pulling together threads from across this series and the the rest of the books from this world. As the title suggests, we learn about Amber’s familiar but the revelations don’t stop there because the skeletons in the closets are just falling out. We also get the prophecy and the romance between her and Bastion finally heats up. Slow burn no more!
The books are best read in order but the writing is good so it’s worth it.
Guaranteed Satisfaction! All the previous books in this series have led up to this one, and it did not disappoint. So many answered questions, so many secrets revealed. The twists and turns start in the first line and they don't let up until the final chapter. Amber continues to be my fave protagonist of the Otherworld books, and I can't wait to watch her tear through the evil witches in the upcoming finale!
The third book in this amazing series and this book is the best so far- heartwarming and heartbreaking woven so delicately it feels like magic. So excited for all the rest and to continue this journey!
This is my favorite book in The Other Witch series so far! This ends the arc of the black witch hunt, and it does it well. It turns out Amber has had a familure all a long and I LOVE that arc, too!
It's almost inconceivable that two years ago Heather G Harris was releasing her first book into the world. She has been a writing machine and overflowing with inspiration for highly rereadable stories ever since. And she still hasn't run out of ideas or the energy to put them down on paper!
She has now gifted us with the Other Witch series, of which book three is Familiar Of The Witch. I think these stories are reaching a new demographic and hitherto undiscovered voracious reader hearts, because the FMC is a witch 'of a certain age'. Just like the Twilight books appealed to teens, wanting to be special and singled out for it, Amber's books appeal to those of us wanting that recognition, career advancement and a ripped, attentive assassin in our beds!!! She has a slowly growing circle of true friends, mysteries to challenge her, a career path on the up and said hot man making her cups of tea. Sigh - are we not vicariously content??!!
This is a superb series and each book can be put on a pedestal for adulation by grateful fans. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, watching further growth from Amber as a person, and Amber and Bastion as a couple. And there is one more book to come in this series - I am a happy HGH fan!
Well it’s out of the frying pan and into a bubbling hot Cauldron for Amber in this third instalment of Heather G Harris’s Witch series, best news there’s another book to come, not quite sure how Heather manages to do it all but as one of her fans I'm very happy she does!
As the title suggests Amber finally finds her familiar but when you read the first three words you will probably have the same reaction as me (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot)! Hopefully I won’t mention any spoilers but just in case:- warning there may be sneaky spoilers ahead along with frustration and cursing at characters and author!
Like life in general, a witch’s life isn’t plain sailing and although Amber’s friend list is growing, so are her problems and her enemies! She just crosses off one issue and five others appear! One of those happens to be her biological father! The others are the agreements she made to help her with her investigations in locating the ‘black’ witches such as making replacement potions, visits to a Seer, running a coven and trying to go visit her mum without any problems. If there are any subtle clues as to who the bad guys are then I freely admit my tiny brain doesn’t pick them up and probably wouldn’t if I got hit over the head with Grimmy!

This is the third book in The Other Witch series and each one keeps getting better. This was the most emotional so far. I'm a bit of a tough nut when reading, but there was even a tear at one point!
Amber takes her role and responsibilities very seriously, but I love that we're getting to watch as she learns how to be able to make room for relationships in her life as well.
Amber is a great character and I'm thoroughly enjoying her progression and growth throughout the series so far. Including her whimsical side! (I wish I knew where she shops for her mugs.) And Bastion is such a perfect match for her. He has had a huge change in the way that his actions are perceived since the start of the series and I'm loving how his part in it all is progressing now.
Something else I'm loving is the other characters. Benji is such a sweet heart! And Frogmatch reminds me of a little dog with a big dog attitude - barking fiercely & trying to look mean, but instead just ending up looking cute. Oh, and keep anything valuable out of the way of Indy's tail. You've been warned.
I will end this review with my favourite quote from the book and best insult ever - "Has anyone ever told you that you're the Monday of the human world?"
Thank you to Heather G Harris for my copy of this ebook. All opinions are my own.
I just love Amber, so I was so excited to see this next book in the series. There’s a little bit that happens in this, and of course, I won’t spoil anything, but I was pretty sure I knew one of the reveals, and I was right. Other than that, this was a surprising installment, and the end left me so upset! I wanted to see what happened, and now I have to wait! Dang it! LOL! Amber is closer to weeding out the Black Witch coven, and she goes through a lot of hoops to make progress. I can’t wait for the concluding title in this series to see what happens. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
My FAVORITE of Heathers books yet! This book brought me to tears and had me laughing out loud. I'm amazed at Heather's ability to make her characters grow into people that can be identified with on such deep levels. Even each of the supporting characters have such colorful personalities. I get so tuned into the story that the end takes me by surprise, leaving me craving more. Can't wait for Destiny of the Witch!
Amber and Bastion are still together and bonded even stronger. Along with Benji, Oscar, Frogmatch are hunting evil witches. Amber learns she has a necromancer in her coven and as coven mother must remove the intruder. Amber has surprises coming her way. Amber is brewing another potion to help heal her mother's mind from too much time traveling. A must read from Heather.
Oh my gosh. This book just kept getting better with each page. Heather has done it again. Amber and Bastion keep fighting the good fight. What happens when you take a witch, an imp, some magicians, and a griffin...? guess you will have to read and find out.
Kindle. This was a bit on the short side and stopped rather abruptly (but not on a cliffy).
That being said, this story made me laugh and smile. It's warm and cosy, but also icky (auction items!) and a tiny bit political (regarding womens right to equal treatment).
I tried to read this oh so slow because the next book isn't due until January, but that went to shit. It was too difficult to put down and do chores...
Mesmerising it's definitely. Love the little imp Frogmarch becoming part of Amber's motley crew. Her familiar is finally reveal and a great surprise. More death attempts and traitors are caught out. Spark are flying with Bastion as their romance finally blooms into more. The prophecy is revealed and a part is Amber getting a coveted position Great pace but no too fastWas a page turner for sure, but the ending beckons for much more. I received an advanced review copy and leave this review voluntary Thank you Dahlia
This installment is about revelations, and piecing the puzzle together. We learn about the past of many of the characters in the story, as well as the villains, and the stage is set for Amber to take her first steps into the future. Though a big part of the story was slow, building up the background story of the characters, the last part of the book was fast-paced and exciting. Looking forward to the last installment in this arc.
Ok, I didn't think I liked a nonspicy romance, but I'm wrong. This series is sexy and full of love. Bambi and Bastion are amazing together.❤️ I loved Frogmach and Benji their both adorable.
Wow! I finished the ARC of Familiar of the Witch yesterday and Amber’s story continues to be packed with new revelations, evolving relationships, and a story building to what appears to be an exciting climax.
Amber learns why she has not found a familiar, and finally learns what the prophecy about her says.
If you have not started this series yet you are in for a great read.
This series gets better with each book! The growth that Amber has gone through is great, she's becoming someone powerful in her own right and her connections go from strength to strength. I can't wait to see what happens next
So good I almost cancelled date night! This series just keeps getting better. Since the beginning of the Glimmer series, Amber has been an enigma, drawing more and more curiosity over time. Her story is everything I'd hoped for and more. The magic, the golems, the griffins...it's completely engaging, and this instalment is a fantastic rollercoaster of excitement and emotion. This series will be on the re-readable shelf for years to come. Can't wait for the next one!
This book starts off with Amber being slapped with magic canceling cuffs and doesn't stop going from there. It's amazing from start to finish, answering so many questions as well as offering more. There's a prophecy to hear, seers to see, many naughty vampires and ogres to encounter and potions to finish. This book had me in tears multiple times and I cannot wait to see how Amber and Bastion's story finishes. "You're not alone. You're ready. We're ready."
Wow, I don't know how an author can keep getting better, but that is the case with this book! The story progresses quickly with characters growing before your eyes. The humour in this one had me laughing out loud a few times and the drama drew tears. To experience all that in one book is an amazing feat. I think you will be surprised with this installment of Ambers story!
