Max Sebastian is the Amazon-bestselling author of The Madeleine Trilogy, What’s Mine is Yours and Rock Her World.
He specializes in sizzling hot, romantic erotic stories that challenge the conventional boundaries of modern relationships, featuring naughty wives and insatiable girlfriends, along with the husbands or boyfriends who adore them.
Max lives in London with his wife and two children.
I cringed every time she used sex with others as a punishment or fun. I didn't know that this was a cuckolding book. And it wasn't exactly that since the guy was in so much emotional pain. They showed spanking, whips and chains as such a bad thing but those are all so much better than what she did to him. She was a little bit broken. Also it was only the guy's point of view, I guess that is because the author is male. But he was too whiny to make reading his pov enjoyable.
Romance written by guys is hit or miss for me. I prefer stories told from the woman's perspective, but I haven't seen many full-length female-led-relationship novels, and Max Sebastian is prolific so I gave him a shot and I'm pleased I did.
This ticked all the right boxes for me. Other reviewers have described the protagonist as "whiny" but I don't see that. It takes him a while to adjust to his submissive role, but once he's there everything works out with the requisite HEA.
Don't read this book if you're going to be upset by suggestions of infidelity. Just keep reading and it all works out. I enjoyed getting to know Aiden and Zoey and if you're not looking for cliches then you might too. Recommended.
This is an erotic romance exploring the sizzling pleasures of a female-led relationship between two co-workers. It's almost an introduction to female dominance - not too heavy, though heavy on the sex, with the emphasis on the woman's desires being satisfied. One for couples and individuals interested in the woman being truly on top in the bedroom, but who aren't into the extremes of pain and humiliation.
Max Sebastian has outdone himself. I was a big fan of his first full-length novel, Anarchy of the Heart (which anyone who enjoys wife-swapping, wife-watching, or swinging stories should pick up right away). I’ll admit that I was a little disappointed when I learned that his next contribution would be a femdom romance because I'd never considered myself a fan of that subgenre. With this book, Max has completely opened my eyes.
Submitting to Her follows Aiden Jones as his world gets upended by his new boss, Zoey Schoenberg. She shows the career bachelor what life is like with a dominant female planted squarely in it, and gives him a lesson in love along the way.
It's femdom for beginners (or for those like me who might not be into anything heavier). There's female dominant sex, of course, some denial play, a bit of light bondage and even lighter BDSM, but overall, Submitting to Her is more of an introduction to the kink rather than a full on dose of it.
What surprised me was how it struck a lot of the same chords that a wife-watching or mild cuckold story hits. It makes sense, though: you’ve got a strong female driving the story and a “weaker” (although not wimpy by any means) male setting his own desires aside for his lover.
Submitting to Her is romantic erotica at its best. Interwoven with the piping hot sex is a story of discovery, not just for Aiden and his acceptance of a submissive role, but of his capacity for love. As Aiden falls for Zoey, so does the reader. Both Zoey and Aiden grow a hell of a lot, within themselves and together as a couple. It’s a thrilling thing to watch unfold, and Max writes it masterfully.
I couldn’t put this one down, and when it was over, it lingered with me like a happy memory. It was one of those books you want to race through, yet don’t want to end.
Thanks for sharing a glimpse into the world of Aiden and Zoey, Max, and thanks for opening my eyes to the eroticism of femdom.
I actually finished this a couple of days ago, but didn't know how to review it. I still don't know what I want to say, but at odd moments things from this book will pop into my head, therefore I am rating it four stars.
I am fascinated by different relationships, and how they work. One of my favourite types of relationships to read about is female-led, so this book ticked all the boxes for that. While I was actually reading, I wasn't sure about the writing style, or if I liked these characters or not.
This author is one I would give another go, as I already pointed out, this book has stayed with me.
If you are a reader who loves their dominant, alpha males, this may not be for you, but I enjoy reading a wide variety of things, and ended up with a new author to look into.
This is the second Max Sebastian novel that I've read and once again I was really glad I read it. I like to read Erotica and I like to read Erotica with a strong story line, convincing characters and plausible plots. Thankfully there are many gifted authors, many of whom self publish, around for me to explore.
There are three things that I have noticed missing in Erotica literature.
Firstly not many are written by men. Predominantly It's women that write in this genre. As to why is another discussion but when I find a quality erotic male author I am keen to read their stories. Max Sebastian (like othermaelstrome authors I've read) writes without flowery descriptions and overly emotive phrasing. His writing (in this story) is pragmatic and considered.
Secondly, not many stories are written from the POV of the male protagonist. In this story we get an insight into Aiden who discovers his submissive side and embraces the exploration freely and willingly. The story is , in part, about his sexual awakening and the power he has to please a woman.
Finally, it's refreshing to read a story where the sexual power exchange is with a Dominant female and a submissive male. Honestly this type of story is not that common in Erotica stories. Zoey and Aiden are convincing and on more than one occasion I found myself thinking "yeah, that would totally work'. There was nothing that wasn't plausible or possible in this story.
As usual, it is well written by M.J. (or Max). I’ve read many of his stories and enjoyed them greatly. This one I had troubles with.
Normally I would not have finished it, but my wife had read it and I felt compelled. I’m very glad I did as the finish was quite different than I expected, but I still struggle with it.
As with many fem/dom books, I found the female lead to be heavy handed. If this was a male/dom book I would have trashed it. And the subjugated male didn’t get lucky until after half way through the book. Thereafter their relationship picked up and seemed to get on a stronger footing.
The first two cuckolding parts were concerning, but when I much later found out the reason, it made more sense. I don’t know why the female wasn’t more open before she eventually provided an explanation? The final “cuckolding” scene was also concerning until the reveal about it. In the end, I’m not certain any of these scenes were true cuckolding; perhaps best described as “cuckolding tryouts”.
And was the lead male a wimp? Yes, at times, perhaps many times, and whiney. But in the end he stood up and was strong thereafter.
These books work for me when there is a degree of realism. The CEO scenes were over the top and were concerning. If any male CEO carried on in that fashion, he would be deservedly #METOO’ed into the dustbin of history.
One of my gauges for a book is whether I highlight any insightful passages in the book. When I finished this one I was surprised at how many really thoughtful ideas I found.
So where do I come out? If you start reading this book, read it to the end, you will be rewarded. I’m certainly glad I did. Did the characters grow? Yes I believe they did. Were there some real character insights? Yes.
Having written this review, I think I’m at a 3 1/2, rounded down to 3.
I don't like surprise cuckold, especially when it's not consensual. Gone and fucked this nice book up. Cuckold is fine when the third wheel has a personality, not when your lover sudden decides you get a chastity belt while she lets a raccoon fuck her.
I read Erotica for the same reasons people don't read erotica: the heartwrenching moments created from physical and psychological understanding that can only be shared in the most intimate circumstances by lovers and family whom are capable of immeasurable affection and sacrifice above all rationale. And this book went and destroyed it all with the excuse of plot device. At least Kenny's Book Cover is hot.
This just isn't my kind of F/m. It's the classic pathetic worm/"forced" humiliation male submission fantasy, and boy do I mean fantasy. (And by classic, I mean suffused with hints of anti-woman resentment and emotional immaturity.)
Heroine gets promoted over hero to "fill a quota"— because that's a thing that totally happens— so he makes a point to workblock her at every turn because he's a petulant 12-year-old and hopes to get her fired so he can take her job. Because she is also 12 and has no professionalism or sense, she gets revenge by threatening to fire him unless he submits to a kinky punishment/humiliation thing. To be played out at work. Makes sense. Super believable. Of course she's contemptuous, sadistic, and doesn't like him. And of course he's way into that. (See what I mean about the male fantasy?) Aha ha ha NEXT.
Credit where it's due, the writing itself is surprisingly good, technically.
The second book I read by Max. it was different. He does find interesting ways to come at the hotwife, cuckold story. Not what I'd expected. it doesn't fit with my own interests, and yet, somehow it does. Good characters, plenty of dialogue and a plot that flirts with disaster. Great stuff.
Dnf 47% page 120. I have read femdom books and D/s books and the past and love to see the give and take and the relationship grow. This book just felt like the same scenes over and over and there really was no care from her. She is all eat me out and I'll suck on you a little but no coming. Which orgasm denial can be fun, sexy and a turn on but in this sense it seemed she had no care for the fact that he had gone however long. It felt very fake dom to me.
The amount of sharing that happened unsettling and not in a good way she was so emotionally cruel to him and the amount of times he thought he deserved the mistreatment was crazy and the amount of times she put him in situations where he thought he couldn’t say no because he was afraid of losing her was to many for my comfort this is the literal definition of emotional abus£
The story started off well and then stalled. I would have liked to see some pegging and spanking as well as edging. I was also wondering if she was going to go the route of forced bi. It was an OK story but I think it could have been better.
My rating is purely based on how I’ve enjoyed this book. I haven’t really read any erotica before but I think that genre isn’t for me. I like a bit more plot in my books. It definitely was interesting to read though, but at the same time it also was slightly boring.
70 procent. Er is een verschil tussen jaloers maken en gewoon elkaar gek maken.. dit is te gek voor mij... Als het andersom was, was ik zeker eerder gestopt.. dit is gewoon zielig...
Well I'm FINALLY finished, thank god! I'm giving this book 2.stars.which is quite.generous. I didn't like how he whined and was so wimpy. I hated that they shared themselves with others too. Nothing bout this book was likeable. I would NEVER recommend anyone to read this. It was the longest book of my life. The things that this woman did was emotionally cruel and if I could've punched her face in I would have!
Save Ur money and Ur precious time and read Holly Ward's books..Even when I wait for another of her books to be released I'm more satisfied then I was with.this!
