A famous mystery writer drowns in a hotel bathtub… an accident or foul play? His ghost thinks it was murder. His mystery writer colleagues want to help Mary solve the case. Gary Copper is still on the loose and gunning for both Bradley and Mary. And, in between all of the murder and mayhem, Mary and Bradley are trying desperately to finally walk up the aisle. Will they ever become husband and wife?

With the help of Mike and another ghost named Peter who used to work for an "alphabet firm", and of course Ian Mary and Bradley were able to solve all the murders that were unsolved.
Terri also touched on Sean's story and the monster he fought when he was in the woods in Ireland. I'm sure there will be another book series coming on that and I am excited!
We also met Gilian, Ian's fiance. She is from Ireland too and Sean thinks she looks very familiar.
I hope the Mary O'Reilly series is not finished yet! I have so enjoyed it!
Looks like this was the last one! Loose-ends wrapped up. A fine finish to the series! What a great series overall. The author did a fabulous job at not only telling the current book's storyline, but also building larger/longer storylines that overlapped books! She did the same with some of the characters, too!
This was a fun series, that I thoroughly enjoyed! I'm going to check out one or two of her other books, as well. Although I'm not interested in the 'Sean's book', which goes on to tell about Mary's brother, and some storyline with monsters/heroines. That's not for me.
But, yes these are fun quick reads and I would recommend them for people who are looking for quick books!
I enjoyed this series immensely, but this was my one of the better stories in the series. I was happy with some resolution on a few plotlines, but didn't care much for Sean's sub-plot and Tracey's involvement. I'm trying not to give anything away, but I suppose I should read Irish Mist to better understand the ending. I am happy to hear that the author intends to put out one more Mary O'Reilly book to sum things up better and I look forward to reading her other creations too. It takes a lot of talent to keep a reader interested for 10 books!
Ten books and every last one of them has been a blast to read! "Thriller?" you may ask? Naked ghosts? Alphabet organizations? Eccentric wannabe murder/mayhem authors. How in the world do you get all of this in a book and create a situation scary, hilarious, romantic, touching and just fun. I have to laugh out loud at some moments and tear up at others. I have grown to love all these characters.
In the tenth novel we still find both Mary & Bradley on edge while Gary Copper is still on the loose. Mary is spending her time helping another ghost, Peter Swift to figure out he had passed away in a bathtub. Not only is she helping him Peter has given Mary and Bradley some insight to where Gary Copper could be hiding out. While working on these two mysteries Mary and Bradley have decided to move up their wedding in two weeks. So yes, we have our to main characters that I have rooted for are finally tying the knot.
I picked this book up on a free deal from Amazon, thinking I would try something new. It didn't hold my interest, and I gave up reading it before I finished, something rare for me. Not sure if there were too many ghosts in the book, if I was too confused about who they were, or if it's just not my type of novel. I have read, and enjoyed, some paranormal books by Charlaine Harris and Susan Boyle, but couldn't get into this one.
I loved it. Too many people complaining about the outcomes being predictable. If ya don't like it why are you ten books into the series. Yes I usually know who the bad guy is halfway through the book but if I'm honest I read the book more for the characters interactions and the banter between them all than I do the mystery. Love them all
Loved it. Loved everything about it. Ms. Reid has a way of pulling you into the story and keeping you there until the very end with many twists and turns along the way. It's seldom that I don't guess who the murderer is before the author lets it be known, but this is one of the times I didn't. I loved all the characters. They were believable and well-fleshed out. Thank you for another great read!
I am sorry that this is the last book in this series! So glad the story of Mary O'Reilly isn't over yet though and she will be in other books! Thanks for a good read Terri!
I LOVE this series. In all honesty, I have suffered for years from clinical depression, and was suffering from a very serious downturn. This series helped get me through. The friendship, the camaraderie, the family, the love and laughter, helped tremendously. It was extremely helpful in getting me to that turning point back to me.
I laughed till my belly hurt, then cried until I couldn't see the words. I felt anger and betrayal for those whose journey was suspended. I found redemption, grace, and, most of all, hope. I loved the ghosts/spirits (except for those malevolent ones), the mortals, the story lines and resolutions. I loved the lessons these stories conveyed, and the poignancy with which they were told.
I have several favorite characters, Mary and Bradley (and, by extension, Clarissa), being the foundation. Ian is someone I want to meet, and get to know, and just listen to him talk. Hopefully, he wears the black shirt (but don't tell Gillian I said that...it's strictly platonic, I swear). Mike. Dear Mike. I cried so hard for him for some reason, especially the role he was given. It was a sweetness that I didn't even know i was craving. I love Mike. I want Mike on my side. Always. Rosie & Stanley, such a opposites-attract couple, yet full of love. The O'Reilly clan. Can I move in with them?? Or maybe just visit Ireland with Sean??
I suspended all other reading until I got through the entire series, and feel as though these characters are my friends and family. Please, please, please, give me more!
Note: I would love to give this series 4 1/2 stars, or even 5, but the grammatical and punctuation errors just don't cut it for me. Miss Terri, your writing is superb. Let it be polished until it glows. Let me be your proofreader (beta reader?).
This is the tenth in this cozy paranormal mystery series. I've read these more for the likeable characters than for the mysteries, but I was a bit disappointed in this one. While this whole series is very positive, this book just seemed too positive and too perfect in terms of how situations were resolved. The set up for the mystery as great and the resulting ghost was fun, but I was disappointed in the resolution. When you read this series, you know that the children are a little too perfect and everyone is a little too innocent despite all the horrible things that have happened to them, but you read it because it would be nice to think things really could be like that. This one just began annoying me roughly halfway through. Mary just seemed to be floating through her life. I also got tired of the whole set up for the spin off. I had been looking forward to the wedding, but I found myself flipping through the long descriptions of minutiae. I would have liked more Tracey and Margaret. I bought the next one, but maybe I'm just done with this series.
Fast paced, enjoyable, but not awesome. My issue is with how Gary Cooper became an over the top villain from book to book. It bothered me. That being said, the rest of the book was pretty good. The lead up to the wedding & the other mystery - the murder of Peter the naked ghost. It was pretty predictable in that case but still enjoyable. Not a fan of Sean's story in this one (with the 1st few chapters of a "spin-off" after the conclusion of the book. I'll skip that series. I'm all for ghosts but "fae" not so much. Solid arc in this series. One thing that has bothered me in this series is this series is set in Illinois yet no one drinks coffee?!?! It must obviously be the writers preference for tea (or Diet Pepsi which I would prefer too) but no one drinks coffee in these books. They drink a crapload of tea but no coffee. It's odd & unusual. There was left full name declared of love which was good because no one really talks like either except in books. Just some things I noticed that bother me but the plot itself is pretty good & worth reading.
This was a great departure from both typical romance and mysteries. The murder scenes were too grisly for my taste, but I enjoyed everything else. Mary, a former policewoman who lives with guardian angels whom she can see and talk with; her fiancé the chief of police, and his daughter. The daughter has a friend who can see and communicate with ghosts, hinting at future possibilities. The good guys triumph, the bad guy dies. The story is complete and there are no dreadful cliffhangers.
Then there is Mary’s brother Sean who dreams of mythical creatures that might be alive and terrorizing people. The wedding is a lovely bright note, especially since the story doesn’t abruptly end there.
I have really enjoyed this series so far. I am thinking of taking a break from it for a few reasons. The first reason in the serial killers. I am so done with serial killers!!!! The second is I'm not sure where the author can go from here. I loved the slow burn romance of the mystery/romance with some paranormal back story. I read a lot of Urban Fantasy and enjoy it, but I originally started this story for the mystery aspect. I am still in a mystery/romance mood.
A new character is introduced and I guess may be in future books. Clarissa and Maggie are plotting again. Mike and Ian are the best of the characters. They're always entertaining whereas Mary and Bradley are a little bland lately. Good mystery to solve as I didn't see the ending coming at all.
I am really invested in the characters and enjoy the ongoing back story on all of them. I also like all the mysteries that come along... however there are many discrepancies I do not like... like, Mary's home going from 3 bedroom, to 2, back to 3. sigh...
This one wasn't the normal fun adventurous book it dragged on, I'm giving 4 stars because of the humor and friends, especially Mike and Ian, love those guys. Like I said humor, Pete the naked ghost and how Bradly reacted to him was to funny. all in all a 4 star. On to Bumpy Roads.
Took longer to read this one than others. One reason, new medication that puts me to sleep at night. Very interesting but would love to know more about Tess and who she really works for.
Another wedding in the cards for Mary! We learn a lot more about the characters she meets and helps. The writing is wonderful and the series addicting!
I'm so glad Mike is back. Mike is now Clarissa's guardian angel and he brings her home to Bradley and Mary. In this book Mary and Bradley finally get married. Looking forward to the next book.
It was kind of an anticlimactic end to the Cooper storyline. I almost feel like the author was unsure if this was going to be the end of the series so she had to tie it off somehow.
