People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.

My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.

Being that my momma’s families were descendents of the original English speaking southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.

Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.

I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.

Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.

I really liked this new series.
Gunner, Wes and Garrett were drool-worthy and totally devoted to Gia.
My only complaint was that Gia was obviously soooo beautiful and soooo perfect that every man, woman and child and I'll bet animals too, fell in love with her at first sight and became instantly obsessed with her.
The ending actually was kinda funny instead of being scary.

Let me just start with I love Dixies’ books and if you like ménage then she is an author for you. I enjoyed Escape From Obsession because it was full of action. ;)

Gia is strong woman who I immediately liked. She didn’t feel sorry for herself after she put herself in a dangerous position; instead she found a job and tried to get back on her own two feet. It was nice to see a female have reservations about committing herself to a ménage relationship. To me it makes it so much more real and I appreciate that in a book. Once she became involved she didn’t make huge changes to her life but just embraced her new life.

I thought the men were wonderful. They slowed down and showed Gia they didn’t just want a quick lay. They all had their own personalities and I loved the character development. My favorite was Garret because I love a damaged hero. Plus he was intense and super sexy. Wes seemed to be more outgoing then the other two. Gunner was also intense and put off this “I’m a badass vibe.” All three were protective but not controlling which I think is hard to convey.

As always the sex was explosive and it never got boring. It didn’t feel like the same scene written over and over. I did like the action but it was a bit too much drama for me. I felt like Gia couldn’t get a break from crazy people.

I highly recommend this to anyone who likes ménage or romantic suspense. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I'm a HUGE fan of Dixie and I always look forward to each of her new releases!!! I LOVED Escape from Obsession!! It has everything that I love about a Dixie Lynn Dwyer book!! It is definitely one of my favorites and I only wish it had been longer because I definitely was not ready to leave Gunny, Garrett, Wes and Gia. Gunny *sigh* I am so looking forward to the next book in this series. I do have to say that I did have one slight problem (which is just a personal dislike on my part) with Gia's guys calling her darling. I just couldn't see these Alpha Male Ex-Military Commandos calling her darling ~ darlin'~ most definitely but darling no way. Again this is just my little pet peeve and nothing at all against the book. Every time I saw darling, I just substituted darlin' instead!! lol :) 5 out of 5 rating and a keeper to be reread.

Mostly because the plot's too slow. I'm almost half of the book yet they still introducing characters. Very annoying, especially when it's just a short story. I was expecting wham-bam-thank you ma'am, but all I got is introduction on how 'beautiful' the heroine is. Hell.

I will read book two because I'm still curious of this author's writing.

Escape from obsession is book one in the American soldiers series. I enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting.
I liked all of the hero’s. I liked the bond Gia had with Garrett. I liked the playfulness she had with Wes and I liked the gruffness of Gunner. I liked the chemistry between the heroes and heroine. I liked them as a couple and really wanted Gia to get the happily ever after she deserved. I liked the friendships in this story and cannot wait to read more from this series.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read.

After her boyfriend tries to share her with his business partner, Gia leaves town. With the help off her cousin Teddy, Gia moves to Houston. Garrett is suffering from nightmares and the pain of an old leg injury. Suffering in silence, Garrett isn’t looking for love or to start a ménage relationship with his brothers and a woman. When a beautiful brunette comes to his family’s bar, Garrett is instantly attracted. Gia doesn’t like crowded places. She didn’t want to go to Casper’s bar but her new friends dragged her there. Whilst there, Gia meets retired soldier, Garrett and is surprised at her instant attraction to him. Trying to avoid it, she stays away from the bar but soon meets Wes, her cousin’s high school football coach. Wes is instantly attracted to Gia and soon learns of her meeting with his brother Garrett. Intrigued to meet the woman his brothers have been talking about, Gunner is wary when he meets Gia. He is attracted but he doesn’t know if her shyness is a game she is playing. When all of the men make a move, will they be able to convince Gia to give a relationship a chance? Will Gia ever be safe from the dangerous people that want to hurt and take her away?

I feel like this series is a spin off of another one, there were some connections that were just stated and not explained very well. It didn't make that big of a difference, but had me curious.

I thought this one was just ok. What made me pause was when Gia finally let the guys in. I liked that she did, but wondered if right after she fought off a rapist, this after pushing away all men for months after bad things happening to her in NY. Things really seemed to move a bit too fast there. I did love how the guys were with Gia, giving her confidence and making her feel safe.

It was actually a fun read. The pacing was a little off for me, but it was fun all the same.

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review at SeductiveMusings.blogspot.com.

I am a regular reader of the “Ménage Everlasting” erotic romances published by Siren Bookstrand, so when I was offered the opportunity to review this new-to-me author, I jumped in with both feet. A MFMM erotic romance featuring three hot and broody military brothers is just the sort of book I love to read, and I had hoped that Dixie Lynn Dwyer’s “Escape from Obsession” would be no exception. Unfortunately for me, what good there was to enjoy in this book was constantly overshadowed by awkward phrasing, excessive repetition and an ending that I found implausible at best.

The story begins several months earlier in New York, when Gia is still Gianna, a young impressionable woman being controlled by her domineering boyfriend, Antonio, who is up to his neck in drug dealing and other major financial wrongdoings. When Antonio attempts to force Gianna to submit sexually to his business partner, Valdere, she realizes she is in a dangerous situation and only manages to escape when another angry business associate crashes into their apartment and the cops show up to drag Antonio off to jail. Gianna moves to Texas, settles in a new job and apartment near her beloved cousin, Teddy, and changes her first name to Gia in an attempt to stay hidden from anyone who might come looking for her there.

Teddy is already in a long term ménage relationship where he shares his wife Deanna with another man. Gia wonders how they can possibly be happy when she is still so horrified that Antonio wanted to give her to Valdere. It’s only when she finally comes out of her self-imposed social exile and joins in the fun at Casper’s, the local sports bar, that she meets a friendly bartender, Garrett McCallister, and realizes that she might be ready to trust a man again. A few days later, she meets Garrett’s brother, Wes, who is the football coach for her cousin’s son Dale, and just as attracted to her as Garrett was. The two brothers then contact their older brother Gunner, a Texas Ranger, once they both realize that Gia might be the one woman they have all hoped to find for a ménage relationship of their own. But Gia is still trapped in her fear of what happened in New York and what might happen again if she lets these men take her as their own.

The McCallister brothers are easily the best part of “Escape from Obsession” but the various ways they are described were also a major frustration for me. We are constantly reminded that they were “commandoes”(author's spelling) in the “Marine Corp” and that they each have a matching “Royal Commandoes” back tattoo. Although such phrasing kept taking me out of the story, I did enjoy how each of the brothers treated with Gia with patience and love, especially in light of how she was so incredibly afraid to even go out on a real date with any of them. I found Gia’s reactions understandable at first, but as the story went on and on with her continuing to insist that men are pain and that no men could ever be trusted, I got impatient with her refusal to move on and wondered if she’d ever gotten any counseling after her experience in New York.

The other issue I had with “Escape from Obsession” was with the pacing and the plot choices as the story played out. I had a big problem with the moment when Gia decided to finally submit to the McCallister brothers, considering how understandably afraid she was of men attacking her and what had happened to her mere hours before they all had sex together for the first time. But the truly astonishing moment for me came toward the end when all the various threats in Gia’s life converge in a single horrific scene. I found that moment to be so preposterous that I wondered if book length constraints had forced the author’s hand, or if that was the resolution she really intended. At least at the end of it all, we know Gia will be happy and safe with her McCallister brothers, having finally escaped from her own obsession with her unhappy past.

Overall: 2.5

Summary from the publisher:

Gia Marie Giselli’s boyfriend wanted to share her with his business partner, and she refused. She leaves New York the moment she gets a chance and heads to Houston, Texas. With the help of her cousin Teddy, a detective there, she finds a new home and tries to put her past behind her.

In Texas she meets Garrett, Wes, and Gunny McCallister. Her world and impression of ménage relationships are turned upside down. They want her, and as they try to convince her that this relationship is serious, some jerk from work attempts to assault her, making all her fears of men resurface.

When they finally get through that incident, Gia's past reemerges. Can the McCallisters keep her safe and convince her that true love and compassion don't come in the form of fists, control, and fear?

My Musings:

Gia is involved with a controlling, abusive man who has isolated her from all her friends. She doesn’t have any family in New York and is too scared to leave him on her own. She is finally able to stand up for herself when Gia’s lover wants to share her with his business partner. She tries to fight them off when they are opportunely interrupted by a rival and she manages to escape. Needless to say, she is terrified of being held between two men.

The book continues several months later where Gia has run to her only remaining relative who just happens to be in law enforcement. He is also involved in a menage marriage which apparently in Houston, TX is not that unusual . . . really? Anyway, this gives her the opportunity to observe lovers who are happy in sharing relationships.

Which brings us to three former Marine commandos who happen to be brothers. Their fathers are also brothers and married to the same woman. They expect to have a marriage like their fathers and mother and are waiting to find the right woman. So, of course, they all fall in love with Gia . . . a woman who is terrified of being shared.

All of this seems very far fetched, but it really does work. Garrett, Gunnar, and Wes are strong, protective, alpha males. They truly care for Gia and are willing to wait until she is ready to develop a relationship with the three of them. To add to her issues, she is being stalked by a coworker who has a reputation for assaulting women, but no one has ever pressed charges.

Gia is determined to never be a victim again. She is studying martial arts so that she can protect herself and to build her confidence. Although, she is happy to be living near her cousin and looks to him for safety, she does not expect anyone to take care of her. Even so, she is not too stubborn or stupid to accept help when she needs it. In other words, she is not one of those “too stupid to live” (TSTL) heroines.

It is the ending of the book that caused me to rate it as a three rather than a four. All of the plot lines just came together too conveniently to be believable. I cannot say more without spoilers, but the climax was just too pat. My initial reaction was “you’ve gotta be kidding me.” It worked, but it was still jarring.

I have read the book twice, once for my own enjoyment and again for review purposes. I have to say I liked it better the second time through. I think I just needed to get used to the author’s style of writing. This is the first book in a series and there were several characters introduced that I look forward to reading about in their own books.

**Erotic Ménage a Quatre Romance, M/F/M/M, HEA**

Today's review is on Escape From Obsession by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

The pages of this book were so H-O-T that my fingers were left burning at the end. Though the odds that three, gorgeous, ex-commando, brothers would fall for the same woman are pretty slim, would you deny yourself such magnificent, glorious, and superb men? I certainly wouldn't! And sure, as a therapist, I feel that there wasn't enough attention placed on the trauma that the Heroine had suffered but hey, it's fiction.

Gia Clarke's boyfriend Antonio Pelloni was a real piece of work. Not only did he get off on controlling her, he wants to share her with his friend Valdere. Cornered between the two men, Antonio played on her fears of being alone and her declining self-confidence. Fortunately the police arrived before she was forced to have sex with either one of them, but not before she witnessed Antonio beating a man to death.

Six months later, with a new name, Gia Marie Giselli is trying to get her life back on track in Huston, Texas. One evening after work she agrees to go to Casper's, a local bar/restaurant where "the guys are so damn hot." Once there she catches the eye of Garrett McCallister, one of the owner's three sons, and the attraction is instant. But Gia isn't ready to date anyone. Not with the fear she still has of being in the same situation as with Antonio.

Later she finds herself face to face with Wes McCallister when she picks up her cousin from football practice, and he is just as hot as his brother. And when she later meets Gunner "Gunny" McCallister her head begins to swim. She's helplessly attracted to all three brothers.

With Gia never really being into the Ménage scene, the McCallister men have their work cut out for them and they will do everything in their power to make Gia theirs.

We all know that most men have the fantasy of having multiple women in their bed at the same time. So are women any different? Name any heterosexual woman who wouldn't want just one loving, compassionate, and attentive man who loves her? Now times that by three. If truth be told, if given the opportunity, I would totally be willing.

If I were to sum up this book in just three words they would be HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!

I was contacted and given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I fell in love with the McCallister boys. There is just something about a soldier that makes my heart beat a little faster and gives me a flutter in my gut. Might be because I married one. ;)

Gia is an amazing person. She didn't listen to her gut in the beginning but when it came to it she ran. I understood her fear of men and relationships. Multiple partners is not a relationship that some people can handle. I love how the author was open and described it as a normal way of life for a lot of the couples in this town. If the folks involved are happy and no one is being hurt by it then I that's a great way to live. Gia was mortified when she realized that her attraction was overriding her fear. I know that when you have been abused it is so much more difficult to trust. Gia struggles with that but the guys know that she is the one for them.
Garrett touched my heart cause I know how devestating the constant nightmares and pain can be. Gunny is an old soul that knows what he wants and will do anything to protect it. Wes is as amazing as the other brothers. Dixie Lynn managed to write an tasteful book that involved a menage with brothers. I am seriously impressed, kittens! Loved it and rated it 4.5 Bookworms!

Amazing story, as always. I loved the characters and the plot. There is something that is just very basic instinct about Dixie's stories. Many women would love to have a man (or men) who are totally devoted to them, that would do absolutely anything to protect them. Dixie always gives us the perfect damsel-in-distress while still making her an essentially strong woman. And of course, the hero is what every woman wants in a man.

In Escape from Obsession I like how the men where given three totally different career paths. One was a Texas Ranger, one was a high school football coach and the other was a bar tender. And all three helped out at the fathers' bar on their off times. I also enjoyed the fact that the guys had their mother and three fathers still and were a close family. And it was great that the entire family welcomed Gia with open arms. The only thing that was a bit off was the bad guys. The likely-hood of three different bad guys all coming for her at once was a bit much but then, Dixie can pretty much make anything work. Even that didn't take away from the great story line.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys Siren romances. I would recommend every single one of Dixie Lynn Dwyer's books.

Here we have the story of another petite bombshell. She also has a killer body. She is traumatized. She had a bad relationship with a real big time man in New York. This man was a thug. He has a boss that wanted to be with her too. He was the big shot businessman. Be also was very bad. She runs to safety. She changed her name. She got self defense classes. She became attracted to three different men there. She gradually comes out of her shell. Not a bad storyline so far. Now the men, are totally different. First of all I have a few questions. Are the men supposed to have the same eyecolors? The author wrote down dark. Are they brown or grey? What about the soap operaish parts? It began to read like she was trying too hard. Granted the issues tackled in this book are serious. But considering it had room to grow. I was serious ly surprised by the, oh no it reads like a soap. Fakeness does not make a great book. I know I'm going on and on by the gakeness. But I really liked this character. She had gone through some serious shit. I also loved the men here. The obes she ended up falling for. They werr hot. I mean THEY WERE SERIOUSLY HOT. I loved them. That's it.

The moment Garrett McCallister sets eyes on Gia Marie Giselli, he is caught hook, line, and sinker. Gia however is still healing her wounds from an unhealthy relationship that took a shocking turn and despite her attraction to Garrett, she is not comfortable dating.

Football assistant coach Wes McCallister can't believe his luck when meeting Gia, he wants her and goes out of his way to find an excuse to spend time with her. Texas Ranger Gunner "Gunny" has heard quite a bit about Gia through his brothers Wes and Garrett but nothing prepared him for the beautiful woman who already has found a way into his heart. Despite the fact that none of the brothers know about her past, they all know they need to go slow. An obsession with Gia is quickly taking an unhealthy turn by a co-worker and when she is hurt Wes, Garrett and Gunny are by her side.

Another wonderful read by Dixie Lynn Dwyer. The only thing that got me was Gunny's name, I had a hard time imagining a hulking Texas badass Ranger as Gunny.

It's been a few years since I have read this story and I had forgotten how much I love this story. I have long been a fan of Ms. Dwyer.

Gia has moved to Texas to be closer to her only family as well as to hide from her ex-boyfriend. Her ex-boyfriend abused her trust by attempting to share her and hurt her. One night after work, she goes out with her friends and meet Garrett, who works at his parents' bar. She then meets his brother, Wes at her nephew's football practice. She also meets their older brother, Gunny. She is attracted to all three brothers but is still gun shy from her previous experience. But slowly she gives them a chance and they couldn't be happier. An event happens and sends the men into protective mode but her past also comes back to haunt her. Will they be able to save from the danger?

Highly recommend this series!

Better than I first thought

At first I was a bit skeptical of reading this book, because the way I read and understood the synopsis was a little misleading...heroine runs from a menage relationship straight into another?? So I put it on my to read list and debated. I have not read a book by Ms. Dwyer that I did not like, so I finally decided to take the plunge. Now I am glad I did. The book is completely different than I initially thought, and has an excellent story line. The characters are well developed and their interactions do esteemed forced. I really enjoyed reading this and am looking forward to reading more.

This book probably would have been a lot better if I had read it in paperback or ebook version. Instead i've been listening to the audio versions of this series. The narrator is way below par. A lot of it sounds like a run on sentence. There is Very little change in the voices of the characters which makes it hard to tell who is speaking.

Aside of the poor narrating, the only thing that this series isn't great with is the short amount of time from when they meet to when they start doing each other. It would be a lot more believable if the relationships took a little while longer to develop.

Gia has a bright future in New York but has to cut it short when her boyfriend wants to share her with a business partner. When a fight breaks out and she sees the type of person he really is she is thankful for the raid and sneaks out of New York. With the help of her cousin, she makes it to Texas and begins to pick up the pieces when she captures the attention of the McCallister brothers. Will she be able to handle a menage relationship with them given her experience from New York? Will she be safe in Texas knowing it's just a matter of time before her New York problems comes a calling!
