What did I think...? Outside my comfort zone! Beyond that... I was hooked. I had to know what happened with Diana. How had her choices caused her to fall into such a dark, deprived pit?! And Troy... OMG I LOVED Troy! He not only saved Diana, but the story. A true light in the midst of darkness.
Also, the "future" glimpse at Derek and Doctor Sells... LOVED it!!! Wow!
WARNING: This is not your 50 Shades BDSM!!!! It is raw, ranchy, and sometimes... well, hard to read. It is not something I ever desire to experience, or even want to believe exists... but... that said, MJs writing kept me reading until the end. And when this story was done... I wanted to know more.
Where are Nichole and Marcus??? Please MJ... where is book 3?
I decided to read this book after reading book one, Thank you, Master and am really glad I did. It starts with a bit of a triangle, Diana is a financial analyst, who is engaged to Troy, a loving man who adores her, but she is also involved with his friend Liam, an alpha male who is a dominate in hard core BDSM and sex slavery and is the son of the owner of Inferno, the BDSM club.
The story starts with Diana engaged to Troy but is also involved with Liam, who is dominating her, something that she has just realized to be what she needs yet she loves Troy. At Liam's demand she ends it with Troy but then changes her mind but Liam will not hear of it and whisks her away to the club to become one of the girls there.
Let me say that the first part of the book was a very eye opening read for me, I am normally a fluffy sappy romance book reader but wanted to come out of my comfort zone and read something I totally normally wouldn't, and this book definitely was. There were truly parts I struggled with, and I think I struggled with it one cause I consider myself to be a strong female and would never let myself be treated like that and have a hard time grasping why any female would but second, although this story is fictional with made up characters and storyline, this stuff really does happen in the real world, this is not made up, would never happen in real life stuff, this DOES happen.
Also I really struggled with Liam, I don't think I have ever hated a character so much, but every good book is not a good book with a very hateable mole. By the end of the book I wanted him strung up, tortured and then shot, he truly is a poor excuse of a human being and once again, he is fictional but there are Liam's in this world and that truly makes me shudder.
But when I hit the 50%ish mark, the book took a wonderful turn. Troy had been introduced to the BDSM club and is now embracing that lifestyle and wanting it for him and Diana and I loved that, I needed them to find their way back to each other and away from that Ashat! But we not got to see Derrick and Jules a year and a half later, they are married, she is still a very well know psychologist and they are very much in love. Reading how their relationship has evolved from book one was truly heart warming, I still don't understand the need or want for that type of relationship but I felt much better about book one and the whole storyline knowing that there can be love.
Without giving too much away or giving spoilers, let me say that I love love love Troy, and love how the book ended, it left me with a good feeling although I still despised Liam and his father, they make me truly sick to my stomach just thinking about them and what they did and continue to do. But with an open mind, I see what an amazing job the author has done to create such a hateable vile character.
I found this book at times to be even more hard core than the first one and struggled at times with some of the scenes in this book, they are definitely not for the faint at heart, this is not (what I like to call it now) the "fluffy loving CG style BDSM" this is hard core, degrading sex slavery BDSM. If you are willing to keep an open mind and not bring personal feelings or views on this type of lifestyle into the book, you will enjoy it. This book is well written and edited and does have a good storyline, but does have some parts that will probably make you cringe like it did me.
I am so very glad I got out of my comfort zone and read both of these books, will it be something I read all the time, now, I still want my hearts and flowers from beginning to end and my fairytale HEA but I will be one clicking more of these types of books in future but will definitely be one clicking more of this author's books
This book is about 2 people who live a normal life but find they need much more. Troy and Diana are engaged. Diana however seems to need more and finds that with Liam who happens to be troys best friend. Liam takes control as a dom and teaches Diana to submit behind Troys back. When Diana decides to call it off with Liam he gets mad and beceomes a more forceful dom having Diana leave Troy and enter his world at the club. All the time this is going on Troy has started entering the club scene and starts learning all about the bdsm lifestyle himself. There is so much love Troy and Diana have for each other and the bdsm lifestyle. I dont want to give away the ending so I will leave my review like this.
*warning - this is not a dom/sub book where the sub is a pleasured.. this is definitally not a 50 shades dom/sub book.. this is a hardcore sex slave book.
This book and the previous work were supplied by the author in exchange for a review.
First off, let me take a step back to the first book for a moment...
Derek and Juliana didn’t spend a lot of time there but the Club played a huge part in the story. This wasn’t your typical Club - it was strictly Male-Dom. And not just any sort. It was a kind of degrading, humiliating form of BDSM that I found a bit too extreme for my taste. But Juliana was there voluntarily and she had the option to safeword out at any time. It wasn’t the kind of place I would ever be comfortable with but I was just going along for the ride.
So now we got to the story of Troy and Diana.
So here we find out that the Club is a really just a front. The real purpose was Human Trafficking. And in the end, no one did anything about it.
I mean, it is great that Troy rescued Diana and Nicole. But he shouldn’t have had to. He should have called the Cops. If only we knew someone...
Oh, that’s right. Derek’s a cop. Or at least he was. Since last we saw him, he has gone to work full-time as Head of Security for Creation Inferno. And Derek is even the witness to make sure that everyone who signs theirs rights away does so in a consensual manner.
Only apparently it is a good thing that Derek isn’t a cop anymore because he doesn’t make a very good detective. Diana is kidnapped, locked in a box with a limited amount of tainted water, and starved. When they dragged her out of there, that plus the earlier conditioning Liam put her through meant she was going to do whatever they told her. And Derek was totally oblivious. Not to mention that as I have pointed out more than once, Slave Contracts are fine and dandy if they are your thing but they are not legally binding in any court anywhere. The talk of Government Officials protecting the club is an interesting idea - but doesn't really work for me in the era of new media.
I have to say that I didn’t find Troy very much of a hero, either. In less than two weeks he goes from a normal guy to the same sort of Dom that Derek, Liam, etc. were. I didn’t find that comforting. Every time he referred to a woman as a “slut” I wanted to punch his lights out.
My least favorite scene: The Planning between Troy and Juliana. The Verbal Protocol is fine at the right time and place. In that moment, they needed to be a little more focused on the mission and a whole lot less about who was committing what faux pas - they were in his office, for God’s sake.
I am curious to see where the series goes. I assume we haven’t seen the last of the Carmichael Family. I certainly hope so because I want to see a few more beatings handed out.
Hard for me to understand. I had to stop midway. If this is BDSM than BDSM is slavery and abuse, no consent, safety, regard or care. I think it is an affront to people who were really enslaved or abused to suggest pleasure from such stuff.
