Sarah Wentworth's life has spiraled into the unknown. Her husband's secret is out, and now the whole country knows he's one of the undead. She doesn't care about the fact that he's a vampire. She never has. She's the reincarnation of his first wife, after all, and she's happy to call herself James' wife. Yet she cannot deny that there are quite a few up's and down's in the lives they lead.
Doing her best to overcome the fact that her husband has been sent to an internment camp, Sarah immerses herself in the world around her. She gives her love completely to her beloved daughter, Grace, reminded daily of the trials and tribulations she and James have faced ever since they've rediscovered one another. She relives each moment day by day, yearning for the moment when she can have her husband back in her arms again.
Her days are filled with the tender notes she receives from her beloved James, yet they cannot replace the fact that they're miles apart. Granted, she learns more about him as the time goes by, though she can't help but to wish that she'd be able to have James in front of her once more. She's grateful for the love and support that she receives from the community itself, most especially from her friend, Olivia. With Olivia's sharing her past stories about James, she gleans a better understanding about the man who's given his all in protecting his family. A man, she realizes, she'll do anything for, including letting him make a choice that might make or break their beloved family in the long run.
A bittersweet and quite melancholic story, Her Loving Husband's Return is one of those stories that will capture your heart, and never let it go. The story immerses the reader in the last saga of Sarah and James' story. They have to contend with the consequences of James' coming clean about the fact that he's been one of the undead for as long as he can remember, something the whole country doesn't take kindly to. Not to mention that he's not the only vampire co-existing in the world today. There are others like him out there who only want to live a peaceful life amongst humans.
Although, I've started this series with the third book, I do think it offers enough insight to things that have occurred in the first two book. Meredith provides us with enough information that doesn't bog the story down. In fact, the book itself reads as if its actually a standalone novel. I'm definitely catching up on books one and two soon. This series is honestly one you'll read and time again.
