A dangerous adventure to save a distant world Ryen is just a normal guy trying to do his job. Unfortunately, that job includes trying to save his distant world on the brink of disaster.
Ryen is on a mission to Earth to find the answers to his distant world's most critical questions. While searching the Yucatan Peninsula for a mythic figure-a savior-who would live a perfect life and ultimately die to save their souls, Ryen meets Savannah, a beautiful woman hiding a painful past. On their dangerous adventures together through the untamed jungles of Mexico, he can't help but fall in love with her. As his time runs out, Ryen must decide if he is willing to give up everything he has ever known and loved to stay on Earth with Savannah.
The Masters, a powerful clan of corrupt leaders, are plotting to take back Earth, the sacred planet, from the humans. Ryen and Savannah are thrust into the middle of The Masters' plot.

I was highly impressed by the story development, character sketches, and writing style of first-time author, Kristin Bryant. In her new book, The Others, she introduces the reader to a new world, that is both believable and beautiful, and inhabitants of that world that are likable and easy to relate too. Ryen, the main character from Zhimeya, is the dashing and handsome hero of the story, and he finds a fitting companion in the brave and stunning Savannah, the girl he meets and falls in love with on Earth. The premise of the book, which is that there are inhabitants from other worlds who believe in, and are searching for a Savior from Earth, is both intriguing and unique. And once the reader is hooked by the fascinating premise, the powerful characters and conflicts that envelop them, will pull that reader into the book, making it hard to put down. This book has mass appeal for adults and teens alike, and has great potential for being the first of a top-selling series!
okay, i read this as a ninth grader so this is a random review i just previously hadn’t been able to find this book on goodreads.
i love this book. don’t get me wrong, it’s a weird book but it has an interesting story and it’s cute. i love the main girl savannah. she is independent and doesn’t trust too easily which is very admirable. ryen (main character) is the BEST. i would marry him. he cares so much and he doesn’t want to mess things up so he takes his time to make the right decisions.
…i must address something however… this the ONLY reason i didn’t give this book five stars. i think the story is interesting and funny and sweet but the ending is just terrible. i read it and didn’t understand any of it. it didn’t make sense to me brain. i was just confused. i assume it ended well but also i’m not certain.
***Ebook gifted to me by author for an honest review
The cover definitely does not grab my attention, is very significant to the story.
Okay when I was asked to review the book, I was very busy and did not pin down when I would read this book. I read the blurb over and over, and it sounded like it would be an okay book. But nothing was grabbing me into wanting to read it next because sometimes you have to be in the mood. Wellllll, I’m an idiot!!! I loved this book, and I stayed up until 2am to finish this book because I couldn’t put it down and not know what happened. This is one of those books that look unremarkable, but don’t be an idiot like me and judge this book before reading it.
This book is amazing!! I’m astounded by how seamlessly Kristin wove Christianity and aliens together in something that seems plausible. The main characters are amazing, and this is like all of us who sometimes struggle with our faith and proof. This book had me crying my eyes out several times, wanting to slap several people, and cheering for successes. This book has civil unrest, tyranny, corruption, murder, faith, love, friends, and so much more.
Reviews are always the hardest part for me because I’m not good with words. They never seem good enough to me, but I sort of throw my hands in the air in frustration and go with what I type. This is why I don’t think I could ever be an author.
Kristin is an amazing writer. I felt like I was part of the story. I have no idea whether this is a going to be a series, but I hope so because I wasn’t completely happy at the end not knowing some things and having some suspicions left. It was completely logical where it ended, but I was silently screaming no at the end because I needed more.
I will keep watching Kristin for more books that I hope will come, and I will keep her in my prayers that she will find her own miracle and beat her cancer once and for all.
I don’t do this often, but I recommend this book to everyone because I think everyone can take something away from reading this book. I’m not sure with the killing and murder that it is appropriate for YA unless they are mature enough to handle it, but definitely NA and up.
This was such a wonderful book! The plot line was intriguing right from the start and definitely did not disappoint. I enjoyed both the romance and adventure and found it hard to put down. I loved the author's writing style and I am looking forward to her next book!
Ryen and his friends had been taught by their ancient records that there would be a Savior to atone for the sins of mankind. But...this would all happen on a planet other than their own. They are sent to Earth to see if this is the place where the Savior lived and died.
Savannah is a girl who is running from her past and is all alone in the world. When she unexpectedly meets Ryen, both of their lives change.
I received a copy from the author for review and this in no way influenced my opinion. I thought the premise sounded very interesting. I believe that there are worlds without number that have been created and have often wondered if there is another planet somewhere out there with life on it. That's exactly what this story showed. Ryen and his friends were basically human, but just not from Earth. So...I found it interesting, but I was blown away by how much I actually enjoyed it. There was (clean) romance; suspense; fantasy elements; religious overtones; and a lot of action/adventure. I not typically a huge fantasy fan because some of it is very strange and out there, but this was just the right amount.
I love Ryen!! He was charming enough to find the information he needed, but kind enough to treat people with respect. He didn't take advantage of people and their situations, he just did his job. I love how determined he was and how he was willing to sacrifice everything for what he truly wanted and believed in.
Savannah is such a strong and brave girl!! I cannot imagine traveling the world alone and being able to protect myself the way she did. She was skeptical, with good reason, yet was willing to follow her heart, no matter the cost.
Mateo, Chase, and Claire were all a lot of fun and were such good friends--the kind who stick by each other through thick and thin.
I loved seeing the pieces of the puzzle fit together and the adventure really kept me flipping the pages. I was surprised to find myself on the last page. I will definitely be on the lookout for more by this author.
Content: kissing; man and woman share a bed, but nothing happens; a handful of mild language; violence and death, but not overly graphic; drug use and the negative effects.
The Others takes on the thought we have all had at one time or another ... "Are we really alone in the universe?" Ryen, Mateo, Chase and Claire are among another wave of researchers from Zhimeya sent to Earth to find crucial artifacts relating to the being they believe to be "The Light."
Filled with excitement as Ryen and Claire travel from Jerusalem to the Yucatan Peninsula and pick up an assistant along the way, Savannah, who has secrets of her own that she keeps closely guarded. As the friendship between her and Ryen blooms, she wonders if he might be the one that she can lay her heart bare to.
Savannah, Ryen and Claire meet up with Mateo and Chase in Mexico and the fun really begins. Dangerous excursions, lost in the untamed jungles of Mexico, the five of them weather all sorts of complications and problems together.
All too soon; however, it is time for the foursome to return to Zhimeya with their findings, and Ryen must make a life-changing decision before an old flame makes the decision for him.
A kidnapping, a trial, and the unraveling of a system that has been in place for centuries, Ryen and Savannah prove that love really does conquer all - no matter which world you happen to be from.
This book captures you from page 1! Kristin uses such captivating descriptions and rhetoric throughout the entire book. The story told from the point of view of main character, Ryen, creates a bond between him and the reader. The story takes you to a whole other world (literally), and you can't stop turning the pages to find out what is in store next. Kristin really knows how to weave in romance, adventure, culture, history, and religion in just the right degree. Everyone will be able to relate and enjoy this book. Its a must read!
This is one of those books that is hard to put down once you begin reading it. I felt that I could picture these characters and that I really knew them. I just had to find out what was going to happen to them next. I found the plot unique and although I am a religious person I would not consider this a strictly Christian novel. This book would make a great movie although I am glad to have read it first so I can imagine everything before seeing it on the big screen. Looking forward to a sequel!
A fun YA sci-fi romance. Loved getting to know the characters, was envious of the adventure and cant get enough YA romance. I am waiting for the sequel.
Really interesting little sci-fi romance novel! The characters were easy to identify with; even the aliens. (Which, if I'm not mistaken, was the point.) And the love story was sweet; I enjoyed reading it from a guy's point of view. I loved the female lead's combination of fearlessness and passion; she proved that you can have both a heart full of love and a back bone of iron ... my favorite combination.
For me, the best part of this book had to be the main idea the author presented: that there are other worlds out there just like ours, searching for the Savior Jesus Christ. They know He came to atone for their sins, they just don't know where. These aliens scour the universe in search of that world, and what will they do if they find it ...? The book presented some great food for thought on faith vs. proof and evil actions riding on good intentions.
This book felt like a great intro to that grand story line; and while the book had a satisfying conclusion, I feel like there is more to come! I hope to get another book to the series soon.
Fantasy can be so hit or miss with me, throw in aliens and even more so. So even though I loved the premises of this, I was still very apprehensive going in to this. I had no idea having never read the author before what I would be in for.
Would the world be well developed? Would it be too sci fi? Would I connect with the characters and fall in love with them and more importantly, would the world the author created be real and believable?
These questions are such important ones because the answers could make or break a story for me in any genre but especially this one.
Thankfully the author created a beautiful detailed rich world that was easy to follow, easy to picture and even believable.
The storyline was engaging and the characters likable. Their love story was extremely swoon worthy and I loved all the tender moments between Anna and Ryen.
I am not going to lie, this took me by surprise with how quickly I was able to fall into the world and story that Bryant created. It isn't always easy to hook me in this genre but the author did it beautifully.
This is a gripping tale of others from a different planet, searching for the world where Christ lived. The characters and plot line are fascinating, exciting, and make for a really great read. When I got my book in the mail, I couldn't put it down. I have a newborn, a demanding toddler, and older children I homeschool- sleep is already hard to come by. But this book was too good to put down. I had to buy the kindle version as well to read on my phone so I could keeping reading at night without waking my newborn. Homeschool what?... I'll call it a reading day!
when I fist started reading it, I was wondering exactly how the author was going to make this an interesting story. After reading the first several chapters I was impressed and excited. It has a unique story to it that is based around religion. There was some twists and turns. I am excited for the next book.
I loved this book! What a fun read. It had plenty of action, romance and intrigue and I especially loved the way the author developed the villain . I know who I would want to play him in the movie! I can't wait to read the sequel!
