A no-excuses lifestyle - make possibilities become realities

Canadian author Lorii Myers lives in Toronto, Ontario and has used her years as an employee to absorb the traits of success and as a result has become an entrepreneur in as business manager, controller, senior management member, business owner, and award-winning author - all because of her constant personal quest to explore every opportunity life offers. And the beauty of this book is that she brings all of the tools, ideas, trials, and successes to us the readers. Her use of the game of golf may make some non-golfer readers shy away from the book, but that would be a mistake: golf is the touchstone for explaining her theories and results and she makes the entire process very clear.

One of the primary reasons Lorii Myers' book is so helpful is the manner in which she addresses (and challenges!) the reader. This is the work of a coach who understands the game but also understands the minds of the principle players - us! In the early part of her book she states,' Don't beat yourself up for your shortcomings; delight in the prospect of what you will do, what you will achieve, and who you will become. This book is intended to teach you how to exercise your mind and body in a new way. If your mind and body are working in unison, you can achieve great things in your life. Your body will become strong and resilient, and as a result, you will feel confident, fit, and in control.... Maintaining a healthy mind and body is life's greatest achievement. Reinforcing the connection of body, mind, and achievement is crucial to developing your mental acuity and physical stamina.'...`By working through the model described in this book, you will not only get in shape, you will learn how to easily recognize, manage, and ultimately obliterate excuses-- all excuses-- not only those interfering with your fitness track. You will be armed and ready with solid visualization strategies geared toward success that, once incorporated into your day-to-day life, will support your No Excuses SAP (Success Action Plan) and lifestyle'....'`Successful continual learning means maintaining a balance and variety of success-oriented attributes, the most prominent being awareness, confidence, persistence, determination, courage, and focus. But curiosity, ingenuity, and creativity may be even more important as it is these traits that fuel the desire to continue to question and challenge the status quo.'

Maintaining her analogy of life as a game of golf, she presents the steps involved as a series of events or goals or rules in the following manner: THE FRONT NINE: The Success Action Plan (SAP) Course Management The 1st Hole - Be Limitless, The 2nd Hole - The Aerial Perspective, The 3rd Hole - Aspirations, The 4th Hole - Excuse Management, The 5th Hole - The BIG Push, The 6th Hole - Motivation, The 7th Hole - Inspiration and Incentive, The 8th Hole - The Vision, The 9th Hole - Master Strategy: At the Turn: Advance the Ball, THE BACK NINE: The Lifestyle Prototype, Visualize the Shot -The 10th Hole - Strategy Phase I: Auto-aspire, The 11th Hole - Strategy Phase II: Expectations and Being Proactive, The 12th Hole - Strategy Phase III: Motivation and Incentives, The 13th Hole - Strategy Phase IV: Visualization and Commitment, The 14th Hole - Strategy Phase V: Formulate a Curriculum, The 15th Hole - Launch Your Success Action Plan, The 16th Hole - The No Excuses FIT Lifestyle, The 17th Hole - Exercise Your Options, The 18th Hole - Become a Champion, and The 19th Hole - Excellence in Motion. `When I think of excellence in motion, I think of the big picture. Because of the magnitude of this concept, I look at it from an aerial perspective. It is a mindset that challenges the boundaries of self-induced limits-- that point where you aspire to exceed your expectations, where the mind-body-achievement connection resides and wins time and time again.'

Powerful teaching tool, here, and careful study of these rules so generously presented by Lorii Meyers is deeply motivational. `Our bodies are more than just a vehicle for our minds. They are the inspiration! It is the combination of the mind, the body, and the spirit working together--the mind-body-achievement connection-- that is the basis of a lifestyle prototype of excellence.'

This is a book that could positively alter the direction of all our lives. Highly Recommended. Grady Harp, December 14

The author compares life to the game of golf. If you like golf, you will understand the metaphor to life quite well. However if you don’t, you can still understand the part of how to better your life. It is a great book, I believe that many people will find it an inspiration to change and become all they can be. This book will motivate you to desire to become a fit and wholesome person. You will find in this book step by step the different things you need to do and how to do them to make a difference. You are the only boss and it will depend on you what kind of results you get in the end.
Here is a bit of the book, Everyone faces challenges in their day-to-day lives. But the defining moments of how successful you may be in life, both personally and professionally, lie in how you work through the process of recognizing, navigating, and ultimately dealing with all the inevitable hazards that life throws in your path.
By this example you can see that this book has great motivation and speaks the truth, so you know where she is coming from. It will show you how to improve your life and future by following the ideas housed in this book. All you have to do is work on them one at the time and see what gives you the best results. Then thank the author by doing a good review for her.
Resilience is self-manufactured over time by working through your problems and never giving up, even in the face of difficulty or failure. That is what will make you a winner with this self-help book. It is especially for adults but not necessarily those who like golf.

I was very impressed with Myers' first book in the 3 Off the Tee Series, Targeting Success.

So, as a believer that health and fitness go hand-in-hand with success in life, I was very interested to get my hands on Myers' latest in the series, "No Excuses - The Fit Mind-Fit Body Strategy Book."

From the get-go, Myers captures you with her 'Success Action Plan' providing a solid foundation to help develop a highly successful life-style prototype.

I found that the successful life-style advice that Lorii gives is simple, down-to-earth, practical - yet it's easy to apply to everyday life and superbly inspiring and motivating. That, to my mind, are the qualities that make this a truly exceptional read.

I apply the 'No Excuses' principles in my day-to-day life - and I can attest to the positive results and 'champion mindset' that 'The Fit Mind-Fit Body Strategy' helps you achieve.

Love it!!!!

Started reading this book last week as soon as it came while riding the bike..finished Labor Day weekend at the beach. Love this book, the author chapters are based on her love of golf. She would be a good corporate speaker to motivate employees.

This book is for anyone wanting to make improvement in their lives, from being motivated to reach your goals or losing weight.

Everyone needs a little self help or should push themselves.

Yes, I would purchase this book and I may read it again.

No Excuses: The Fit Mind-Fit Body Strategy Book by Lorii Myers is part of the 3 Off the Tee. Lorii Myers is a golfer and an entrepreneur who has written a series of self-help books which utilize golf as an analogy for how to successfully attain a fit mind and fit body.

The first half of the book, called the front 9 include the 9 steps for creating a success action plan for course management. The chapters are holes 1-9 and are, in the following order, be limitless, the aerial view, aspirations, excuse management, the BIG Push, Motivation, Inspiration and Incentive, The vision, and finally Master Strategy: At the Turn: Advance the Ball.

The second half of the book is referred to as the back nine and called The Lifestyle Prototype, Visualize the Shot. In this part of the book Myers explains how to make this a lifestyle through holes 10-19: auto aspire, expectations and being proactive, motivation and incentives, visualization and commitment, formulate a curriculum, launch your success action plan, the no excuses fit lifestyle, exercise your options, become a champion, and excellence in motion.

I found the teaching tools in this book to be both informative and insightful, that said, it took some effort for me to get to them because of my lack of golf experience. I thought because the goal was a fit body and a fit mind I would really enjoy it, but I found it difficult to get past the golf analogies. If you are a golf lover in search of a tool for reforming your life or know enough about golf to understand it then this book will be suited for your.

Unlike other health and wellness books that I've read in the past, Lorii Myers didn't come across as patronizing or all-knowing, which is what usually turns me off about books like this. The writing was straightforward, although she does like her metaphors, but the comparisons and philosophy that was contained in every page was so thorough and comprehensive that it came off as wildly sincere. I have had a few health issues recently, both mentally and physically, so I needed a shot of life to push me back towards a healthier style of living. This book seemed like a youthful, fresh approach to improving oneself, and I am very glad I chose it. Myers doesn't just focus on staying in shape, eating right, or thinking positively; the mind-body strategy is all-encompassing, leaving almost no time or energy to distract yourself with old bad habits or harmful pastimes.

Excuses have almost always been my downfall, but as the title of this book explained so clearly - there is no room or time for excuses. If you want to get healthy, you need to tackle all of your problems, rather than leaving some to hide away and grow while you take care of "important things". This was more than just a wellness book; it was a wonderful guide for life that will likely stay prominently on my mental bookshelf for a long time. If you feel as though you need a new direction, or a healthy kick in the pants, then pick up this book today!

I received a copy of this book as part of a Goodreads Giveaway contest.

We all want to improve ourselves. There are many books out there on that subject. If you are going to publish a book, you need to have a new twist on an old idea.

When I first got this book, I thought it was to improve my golf game. I haven't been on a course in several years now. Maybe this was a sign I needed to get out golfing again.

This was not a book about improving my golf game, but rather, improving myself. The author took the game of golf and used to help us develop a plan to improve ourselves. Not only from a mental point of view but physical as well. This makes perfect sense as we need both to have a better life. The author divided her book into 18 chapters, like a course. There was a nineteenth chapter that wrapped it all up, just like a real golf game. I thought this concept of using golf was clever and would allow many people to relate.

I cannot say that anything, outside of using golf as a metaphor for improvement, there anything new in this book. It talked about naking a plan for improvemnt, exercising and eating better. It was just presented better and easier to read.

This book was an easy read. I was able to get through it fairly quickly. I would recommend the book.

If you are a golf lover and are looking for a strategy for increasing both your physical and mental fitness then reading No Excuses: The Fit Mind-Fit Body Strategy Book by Lorii Myers may be just what you are looking for. No Excuses is the third book in the 3 Off the Tee series. In this book Myers uses golf analogies to explain her 19 step strategy to obtaining the ultimate goal of attaining balance between both physical and mental fitness.

I found the strategies for how to better your life to be helpful but the parts that spoke about golf to be a little beyond me. What I liked about the book was that Myers laid out the strategy for how to better yourself in easy to understand steps. I also benefited from the suggestions that Myers makes about how to deal with the struggles that we all face in life. The only thing that would have made it better for me would be a better understanding of golf so that the analogies would have made more sense.

Life should be approached, like golf, as it every day is a new round. Using strategy from the game of gold, the author takes the reader on a path to becoming more physically fit and active.

My husband enjoys golf, so I figured I'd be able to understand the references and would enjoy the physical fitness aspect. The concept was great. But I'm not sure if I got bogged down with the golf references I didn't really understand or it was the format of the book. It was difficult for me to read and even harder for me to apply. I think the book would be great for a person who is very fond of the game and wants to up their fitness level. But it really wasn't my type of book.

I received this book free of charge from Goodreads in exchange for my honest review.

Lorii ties a life strategy with her love of golf. I am not much of a golf player, but I understand the game. By tying the two together helps you remember what she is saying. By thinking about the game, you can then remember how it ties to your life strategy and steps you need to take to succeed. I feel there was a little bit of repeating throughout the book, but it was not to bad. I have not read the other two books in this series. But if you have a hard time remembering what you read about improving your life after you read these types of books, I would say start with this one. Very well done.

A variation on the theme of Golf, handicap and holes for the usual argument of self-help manuals that preach the "Will is power" and "Mens sana in corpore sano".Typically American.

Una variazione sul tema Golf, handicap e buche per il solito argomento dei manuali di auto-aiuto che predicano il "Volere é potere" e "Mens sana in corpore sano". Tipicamente americano.

It was ok. I did like the eating tips. Overall it wasn't as informative as I had hoped it would be. I did like how she referred to golf in the book, since I like golf. If you aren't into golf it wouldn't be as interesting.
