Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Almost immediately to the New World, things began to slow down. Oda is setting up for the long-term now, bringing up all these things he's had in mind for ages probably, and spending much more time and attention to the plot. The pacing suffers, the panels get cluttered, so much more text.

It's not all a bad thing - the whole past decade of the story has been entirely connected and building up from one climax to the next - but it does make things harder to follow and somewhat less fun. And Punk Hazard was always one of the more confusing parts on its own.

Luffy and co arrive on an Island that is burning on one side and freezing on the other and weirs stuff is going all around and then we find about the weird children, the battle between the two generals Aokiji and Akainu and then the strange children and how Caesar clown is involved and even Trafalgar law, weird stuff with Smoker and the marines, body switching and them fighting other threats like a dragon even to survive on the island and learn about Caesar clown and his motivations and what he wants plus it leads to an alliance and a big fight coming and its intriguing and bulky to read for sure and the art and the colors are fantastic! loved this whole volume!

The burning island Punk Hazard is their next stop because a man call for help. As you know, Luffy was pig headed and no one couldn't refuse his request. A bit flashback, Punk Hazard 'created' because the battle between Akainu (Lava power) and Aokiji (Ice power). Punk Hazard has dark history itself. The Straw Hat Pirate found some interesting new people. I'm excited because Law has big portion in this story. Also in the end, Naval army led by Smoker and Tashigi arrive and the truth behind Punk Hazard will be revealed slowly. Very interesting!

2025 reread : well, I'm still a cheap laugh who loves the utter chaos of this arc to pieces. I laughed to tears several times in this volume alone and I think that is a good think because when you think about what is happening (particularly to the children) is awful. But there are enough jokes in there to make it easy to read (Or maybe I'm just a terrible person). Also : since his introduction in Sabaody, Law has always been one of my favorite characters (we love a dark and broody edgelord who think they have it all figured out and are about to get thrown into total madness). So obviously I am delighted to see him here. I also like that Smoker and Tashigi are here. This arc is just super fun for me.

YEEEEEEEEEES!!!! I love this arc so much!!!! In part because Trafalgar is back and he is my favorite. But also because he shambled personalities and I just think it's hilarious.

Had to reread volume 66 to get back in the story, but once there: good through and through :-) Always entertained by the antics of Luffy's crew, and the history behind the island as well as how it all ties in to events two years prior is absolutely fantastic!

This was a really interesting start to the arc. I’m curious as to where Punk Hazard will go, as it already is a bit unique and different than normal. Also the villain is *very* cruel and I can’t wait to see what his main plan is!

I'm skipping 4-5 volumes because the library simply doesn't have them at the moment and I'm not going to wait. I'm not so glued to the story that I must adhere to it. I'm just trying to catch up a little and be in the know. I like One Piece but I don't LOVE One Piece.

We get to see Trafalgar once more, this time how his powers work - the operating room - and the volume ends on a most seductive cliffhanger.

One Piece, Vol. 67 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eleven chapters (657–667) of the on-going manga series.

This tankōbon continues the Punk Hazard Arc. While Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nico Robin, and Usopp visit Punk Hazard, Franky, Vinsmoke Sanji, Nami and Tony Tony Chopper discover a living head belonging to a samurai named Kin'emon who is searching for his son Momonosuke. The four escapes into a children's room called the Biscuits Room and attempt to release the giant children imprisoned there. Meanwhile, Brook discovers the samurai's torso.

A group of naval officers, led by Smoker and Tashigi, arrive at the island as Luffy and the others confront a group of creatures along the way. Meanwhile, Smoker and Tashigi are confronted by Trafalgar Law, who has become a Warlord. Law swaps the hearts of Franky, Sanji, Nami and Chopper while Luffy and the others are rescued by Brownbeard, a pirate living on the island.

Luffy meets Law once again, just before the Warlord swaps Tashigi and Smoker's hearts. Luffy and the others learn about the history of Punk Hazard: once the experiment facility of Dr. Vegapunk, the government scientist involved in one of his failed experiments, sealed off the island and fled.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part it is written and constructed rather well. The Straw Hat Pirates has finally entered into the New World and they encounter things that they have never seen before, which include dragons and samurais. They would eventually discover the mystery behind Punk Hazard Island and meet the warlord of the island – Trafalgar Law – who has the ability to switch people’s hearts.

All in all, One Piece, Vol. 67 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

PUNK HAZARD ARC - PART 1
1. i think it's incredibly funny that nami doesn't mind or care to be naked in front of chopper

2. why are there children in this facility...? what is this place......?

3. sanji hating the kids because nami is sticking up for them, i'm dead. this guy is DEVIOUS

4. holy hell. punk hazard became that way, because aokiji and akainu had their duel, that speaks monumentally about their power

5. WAIT - TRAFALGAR LAW BECAME A WARLORD OF THE SEA

6. i also incredibly love that while everybody's pictures are getting updated, sanji is not getting a proper photo taken. either it's a drawing or it's a picture of his back LOL

7. omg law and luffy collab?? hihi

Punk Hazard Arc is much better than the previous one. Interesting story, with new characters, powers, and cool fights.
It was good to see Law and Smoker again. Can't wait to find out the truth about Caesar Clown's experiments and Law's plan to overthrow a Yonko.

How is an incredibly slow volume the best volume in such a long time?

Law clearly has no clue the bs he's gonna have to deal with, with Luffy

This volume continues my feelings from last volume about how weird the Punk Hazard arc is (even by One Piece standards) and confusing but as the volume progressed it got much better as more of the weirdness was explained.

The highlight of the volume was seeing Trafalgar Law in action. Personally I think he is a bit overpowered, what with multiple abilities like keeping people alive after cutting them up/removing their hearts and being able to make body swaps (leading to chaos among the Straw Hats). But he does seem to be a pretty chill guy and I’m eager to see how his story and relation with Luffy progresses. The body swapped Straw Hats could get annoying (i.e., pervy Sanji being ecstatic about being in Nami’s body (not in the way you think though you pervs)) but there were potentially interesting matchups (i.e., Chopper in Sanji’s body and getting enraged at what Caesar Clown did to the kids). It also led to Oda Sensei finding new creatively artistic ways to differentiate the Straw Hats being in each others minds (even if the designs for Nami-in-Franky and Franky-in-Chopper are approaching nightmare fuel territory). My favorite part of the volume though wasn't in the main story but in the “From the Decks of the World” cover story, where Chapter 666 revealed the fate of a beloved character! Maybe it lessens their sacrifice from earlier in One Piece but WHO CARES THEY’RE BACK!

Volume 67 continues the post FIsh Man island upward trend of improvement. Hopefully with more of Punk Hazard’s mysteries explained the rest of the arc can maintain this volume’s quality.

Disappointment and Impression, or... Opening Disappointed, yet Closing Impressed

During the many fights since the crew reached the Fishman Island I couldn't bother thinking: "What happened to Luffy's 'haki?'"

All the new en'emies (un'amies) had to be just stronger and faster than him after that intense training for his "haki" powers? It seemed that, after all, he didn't have the haki, especially the "observation" one at all.

Yet, the series never just disappoints me: There are always lessons.

"Honor is something that you earn, not beg for."

"Don't let loyalty blind you. Not even the Navy is immune to corruption. After end of the day, the Navy is just a group of people. And people aren't perfect. Making assumption's dangerous. Don't be fooled by appearances."

There are corrupted traitors, while there are the coolest and the most courageous spirits in the very same uni-form.

Take a look at the image on the bottom, which happens to be my favorite in this series: The Brave Men and Their Cool "Last" Smiles.

There are a lot of shenanigans going on, on punk hazard. There's a lot of interesting things going on, but I don't quite fully understand them yet. Which for me is bothersome that we have to wait to fully understand what's going on. I'd much rather get an explanation quicker. However, I am enjoying how intriguing this has been. I especially loved the cliffhanger at the very end and I'm excited to see where it goes!
