The ancient art of t'ai chi improves muscular strength, and promotes health and longevity. This photographic guide takes you through the entire Wu form, the most popular sequence, with easy-to-follow instructions and illustrations for each stage. There is advice on preparation and warm-up, and techniques for the more advanced practitioner.
Actually an incredibly thorough book. I didn't expect all the history, the theory behind Taoism and internal self-developmental arts, but was pleasantly surprised and intrigued by a rather vast amount of information stuffed into a smallish book. It certainly cemented my interest in the subject.
That said, be warned that the actual 'step-by-step' portion is pretty small. The photos and descriptions are as good as I've ever seen, but being that t'ai chi is an art of movement, it's pretty hard to convey through photos and words, and was still pretty confusing to follow, though I didn't get as much time to practice with it as I'd like.
Good suggestions for other ways to practice, ways to further and deepen understanding, and resources to find teachers and help.
Good instructional book for T'ai Chi for visual and/or kinetics learners. The explanation of the Tao concepts are incredibly informative in concise manner. It makes the readers to delve into the subject on their own freewill.
