Sarah Ashwin my queen and saviour for my dissertation. I think I read this book about 3 times all the way through and every time I found another stunning feminist quote to support my argument

This is an enjoyable read that has proven very useful. With barely any background in Soviet and post-Soviet gender questions, I found the articles easy to follow and the overview they provided comprehensive.

The collection's principal concern is the ideological contradiction between traditionalism and radicalism inherent in Soviet gender policies and propaganda, as well as its social repercussions throughout the 20th century, up to the post-transition period. Based mostly on qualitative research, the articles form a multifaceted yet coherent picture.
