Gunner Hunt—resident bad boy and town loser—made one smart, selfless decision in his entire screwed up life—he walked away from Harlow Mills.

He and Harlow had one summer of mind-blowing sex and passion, but Gunner knew he wasn't good enough. He loved Harlow enough to walk away.

It's been three years since Gunner stomped on her heart and left her broken, but when Harlow walks into the dive bar he now owns, that familiar spark reignites and burns through both of them.

Contrary to what Gunner thinks, Harlow isn't just lusting after the off-limits bad boy...or the toe curling sex they have. She wants Gunner back, and she wants him for good.

But some things never change, and even though their feelings—and their chemistry—are still going strong, the fact remains that Gunner’s world of motorcycles, booze, and a band of screwed up brothers is no place for Harlow Mills, card-carrying member of multiple country clubs and daughter of a millionaire.

Gunner has two choices:

Accept that Harlow deserves better than him, and walk out on her…again.

Or man up and learn to be good enough for the only girl he wants in his bed, and his heart.

Gunner tricked himself into believing he didn't need Harlow in his life once before...but can he give up the only woman he ever loved a second time?

Even though I think the coverDale on this book looks constipated vs sexy and I found that the romantic plot is the same ol same ol 'she's too good for me so I shall set her free,' I read the this quote and thought he might be okay:

"Besides, I may come from white trash, but we were always taught ladies first. With everything. First in line, first to order, first to get off when we're fucking. What can I say? I'm a gentleman to the core."

Wrong!!!

3 years pass since he breaks off a 'true love' summer fling with our female MC, Harlow. For her own good, of course *eyeroll.*

She hunts his ass down & they agree to a night of sex, just sex, but she's bound and determined to get him back because she just knows he still loves her and is keeping a secret about why they really can't be together.

Alert... Cheater Douche Canoe....Alert!!!

description

Now, after he screws Harlow we get to hear about how he is actually technically, but not officially with Rochelle.

We never made anything official, but the longer we hooked up, the more determined she was to make our situation legal. I always planned to get married, I guess....

It's not marriage that has my feet cold necessarily. Maybe it's the idea of Rochelle as the mother of my children. Because I'd settle for a stone-cold bitch for a wife, but when I think about having kids, I want them to have a sweet mother...

Rochelle will wear me down sooner or later. I should just stop stalling and take the plunge. She's as good as I'm gonna get, and I like that she gets who I am. Low expectations work for me.

Please, authors, do tell me:

1. What exactly makes you think readers want to read about some star-crossed lovers story, where the characters both admit that the other is the love of their lives, but then turn around and give us a picture of a life with another person?!? How am I supposed to believe true love if one or both are willing to settle for someone else?!? I'm not!

2. Why would you dare to imagine that I'm going to swoon over a cheater? He might not officially be with this Rochelle person, but if they are fing talking about getting married and he is pondering their children, then I can't think of any word other than CHEATING for that!

Calling It Quits @22%

This is the fourth or fifth book that I've read in the last month where there's another woman lurking in the storyline, AND NOT MENTIONED IN THE BLURB! I refuse to finish this!

Authors, be forthcoming on the subject matter of your books so that readers can make an informed decision if they want to read it!!! It will save you a lot of negative reviews, such as mine!

Can I just say HOLY HADES.... SWEET BABY JESUS.....and everything in between! Man THANK YOU Lori for allowing me to read Trick. Lord I started it this morning at 8am at work and could not put it down until I finished it at 4pm. This is a book I am recommending to everyone on goodreads to read. I mean it hooked me right from the first line to the very end. Have you ever been in love and had your heart broken? Well this book is about first loves that never go away. Keeping feelings alive for the one person you want and will stop at nothing to have. No matter what people say or do you are willing to fight for that love. Lord ramblings of a mad reader that is how good this book is!

Gunner and Harlow are from two different worlds. Gunner is a boy from the wrong side of the tracks with no intentions on settling down.He is going to live life hard and fast and take what he wants when he wants. Harlow is the only child to a wealthy family. She has everything she could want and ask for. She is daddy's little girl and does whatever her father says. Then one day that all changes for Gunner and Harlow when Harlow's car breaks down and Gunner is out on a beer run and he stops to help her. Their romance starts out as a summer romance strong and hard and Harlow experiences a lot of firsts she would have never dreamed of. Their romance is like a wild fire that takes root in a small area and goes all out until it has consumed everything and everyone.

Then Gunner tells Harlow to move on and get her a rich guy who can take care of her and give her the things her father has given. Gunner thinks he can't give Harlow what she needs but all Harlow wants is Gunner and nothing else. Their journey is not pretty and it is laced with lot's of twists and turns but it is their story and what unfolds when Gunner and Harlow reunite after three long years apart is where this book will have you laughing then crying and then just plain out pissed at Gunner because he is a bad boy but he is something else deep down and he can't see it but Harlow can see it.

This is a MUST READ with lot's of sex and dirty talk so be warned but it is the BOMB! Read all about Gunner Hunt and Harlow.

When I saw the honest to God hot cover. I was "I'll totally judge this book by it's cover!"

And theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnn.

There's something about Harlow that is sooo "harlot-like". It's like seeing into the head of a rich slut. I just want to blast them! Laser style.

I tried to continue reading and then

This erratic behavior is familiar, Beautiul Disaster style and that's just...

It didn't capture me like I hope it would.

But I think Im being unfair because I all but read only 40% of it, but since I already hate it this much, no love's lost. Bite me

All this ape-shit story should be eradicated. Waste of time.

Notes to self including SPOILERS:

What a roller coaster. Up down left right yes no forward backwards chop change.

Its well written.

Unless I'm blind, there's not an error in sight. That alone makes it a beaut to me.

He is alpha. Antihero. S0nofabiatch swine. I hate him. I adore him. You recall Rule? He's worse. No remorse worse. Could. Not. Give. A. Dayam. Then he becomes needy, vulnerable, possessive, jealous, Travis-like. Then he is soft and sweet and caring, even with the ow, who plays a big part. A part I hate of course. I like how the author developed his character as the book progresses.

The h irritated me later in the book. Shades of Keira iro the attitude but no OM. She's a poor little rich girl. Adored by father. Beautiful. Her character is perfectly brought across.

And she buggers up his world. Some other stuff happening. Nothing major. Nice New Ya Romance. I think I can safely term the sex in this book as erotica.

Standalone. (Thank you, jesus, an author I can take seriously) HEA.No cheating,but.......

There is a companion book to follow, where the heroine's bf is the MC.
Will definitely try this author again.

This was an okay read - I enjoyed the general plot line (girl meets boy, boy is a badass, boy isn't good enough for girl, girl's heart breaks, they end up together) but I think that the romance was a tad too overdone for my liking.

I skipped most of the steamy bits because they just detracted too much from the supposed 'deep' and 'undying' love between the two main characters. It just seemed...a little forced? I can't explain it. There were some amazing quotes, some great plot points, but their relationship was just weird. Our female protagonist is also a walking contradiction. Supposedly sweet and angelic, and yet she flirts like a pro. Wants him to truly love her, but doesn't mind if he uses her and simply sleeps with her.

Women like this annoy me.

I story can have romance in moderation and still me amazing. You don't need to dump a hot-and-heavy scene in ever chapter to get the message across that this is a romance novel. We get it!

vi la portada, y me dije: PROMETE...
pero q desilusión me he llevado

chico malo conoce chica buena.

So I read this book because of my reading challenge, but it doesn't mean that I didn't hope that I won't enjoy it. I try to enjoy it, but most of the time I was bored and it couldn't make me engage to the story. I love second change story. That's why I pick it up. It's the main characters, Harlow Mills and Gunner Hunt, whom I was bored with.

Harlow Mills is a rich girl who falls in love with Gunner Hunt on one summer. He lives in the wrong side of town with a family full of asshole dirtbags, just like he said. But she always believes that he is a great man and proud of him. Then why she doesn't think he can make a better living when their first encounter, after more than three years, at the bar, Gunner's bar? She just assumed he works there and so does his house and his farm which she assumed he just take care of it, not own it. And then Gunner Hunt, just like any other NA books, he's swoon worthy with bad boy attitude but I just couldn't stand the way he acts. He left Harlow because he believes that she's way out of his league, he doesn't worth enough for her. But then he comes back to their little town.

Now my big question is why did he come back if he keeps pushing her away? Didn't he think they will meet one day or another? Yeah...I know he loves her and wants to show everybody that finally he can be a worthy guy, I understand his reasons and try to forget my questions. But, he keeps pushing her away and reasoning that he doesn't worth enough for her and it's for her own good to stay away. While at the same time he also keeps coming to her because he can't resist her. He tells her that he can't resist her in one paragraph and the next paragraph he says that she should stay away because her father won't like him. Okay, I can understand his reason but when he keeps talking like that it annoyed me. I think he tries reasoning their relationship when he might be not ready with it. He doesn't give Harlow chance to show him what she really wants and whether she can face her father with their relationship. I think he doesn't believe and trust her. And when he finally trusts her, it was a little bit cheesy for my taste.

I'm a sucker of story with dysfunctional family and characters with baggage. Hence it usually contain with angst and dramas. After so many dramas in their relationship, their closure is unfortunately lack of drama. I feel like it was kind of anticlimactic. And as for the story, it comes with a pattern. Here is the pattern: Harlow met Gunner, have sex, their go on their way, reunite, have sex in order to get out of their system, can't resist to each other, have sex, Gunner thinks Harlow is too good for him, have sex, face a problem, have sex, Harlow doubt Gunner, have sex, realize they are love each other, have sex, another (supposed to be a big) problem, forgiving, have sex, happily ever after, have sex. And here I thought I will get more than that.

3.5 kitten stars..growing to 4 in the second half. I just felt the latter half grabbed me more.

Gunner & Harlow enjoyed a very physical summer 3 years ago, but he pushed her away believing his modest & troubled upbringing couldn't be enough for Harlow & her privileged one. 3 years later, Harlow walks into a bar & finds Gunner behind it & her love for him easily returns with a force.

I enjoyed watching Gunner fighting to become the man he felt Harlow deserved, whilst rooting for Harlow to achieve her ideal of having him happy alongside her.

Looking forward to reading the next instalment "Risk" and Harlow's crazy friend Daisy's story.

Almost 4★'s. Go get em' tiger! I really enjoyed this. Let's hear it for the girl going to get her man and not taking no for an answer. Off the charts steam and a love that will never die, can't go wrong with that combination. Boy oh boy did I love me some Gunner. So glad the drama was there but not over the top. Every time I saw it coming and saw disaster ahead it was handled perfectly!! So glad to see there is going to be a companion novel!!

Total: 31 Cents

Plot—6¢

This is a story about a love lost and a love found. I didn’t fall totally in love with the story for reasons I’m not exactly sure of. There were bits that I thought were repetitive and there was a weak, and therefore only mildly dramatic plot. It was the good rich girl, the poor bad boy and disapproving dad gig. Torn apart just after their love sprang to life, mostly because of their own stupidity and lack of backbone, they find themselves running smack dab into each other. But, uh, they did live in the same small town… so not a huge shocker there. And it was only three years later. It didn’t work for me.
Main Characters—3¢

I liked the idea mostly of these two. Harlow Mills is a dancer, a spoiled rich girl and bound to the love she had once upon a summer. But she came off as weak mo me most of the time. She didn’t speak her mind like I wanted her to and she wasn’t that interesting dialog wise. Her character lacked a charisma or charm that I enjoy.

Gunner Hunt. Yep. That name had “nope, not liking that” all over it. It actually made me want to quit reading the book. That was probably one of the cheesiest names ever. He has the worst self-esteem of any leading man. And it wasn’t in a make-me-love-him way. He wanted to marry a whore, just because he though that he sort of should have kids and stuff… oh, that and so his harlot would shut-up. He was a hard worker, but had a butt-ton of money handed to him. He was so contradicting. There wasn’t enough of his soft, loving side for me to tolerate the other stuff.
Secondary Characters—3¢

Daisy, Harlow’s best friend was actually very, very likeable. She was honest and was more of the sincere and genuine personality I like. I wish Harlow had had as much back bone and gusto. Rochelle was interesting, but sad. What kind of woman actually thinks like that? She had some of the weirdest views on life. But she did piqué my interest, just because of how odd her character was. There were other family members that were mostly predictable.
Setting—2¢

It was basic, and sort of vague. I loved the idea of the old house. I just couldn’t navigate where the characters were in the book. I had no real grasp on the sounds or smells or tastes. It was lacking in clarity, for me. I can admit that maybe it was me, but there wasn’t much to the book’s setting. There were a couple of bars, a house, a barn (I guess) and a cabin. However, I couldn’t tell you what any of them really looked like or how they made the characters feel.
Humor—2¢

I didn’t laugh while reading this book. I cannot remember any particular scene or scenario that was humorous. I don’t think that the author particularly wanted it to be funny, so that may or may not be a bad thing. I missed that, too. I think I would have bonded or felt more connected to the characters if there were a few laughs or glimpses of joviality.
A/R—3¢

I listened to this book on my commutes to and from work. It wasn’t all that lengthy so it was a few days. I never was compelled to read-read to find out what would happen. The word that comes to mind when thinking of my attention to it is “invested.” I committed to reading it and, dammit, I was going to. To the books credit, if it were completely terrible I would have just bumped it. So even if I was less than wowed, I stayed the course.
Vocab—3¢

The vocabulary in the book was descent. I did have any “wow, that was really great” moments. But there isn’t anything to complain about either. It was average. Man, this review is sorta sucking the life out of me. My vocabulary sucks. I give me a cent and consider myself “blah.”
Steam—3¢

Considering my half assed connection to the characters, I wasn’t really feeling the sex. I really liked the flash backs though. Present day was bad for me a first, but it got better. I feel really bad for this review, but I can’t lie. The sex scenes were hot-ish, and there weren’t any “what the hell” cases where I was way turned off. It was okay. Maybe it was that I wasn’t attracted to Gunner. Maybe it was because his name was Gunner Hunt. I don’t know.
Value—3¢

I received this book as an ARC, and for that I am always thankful. It is humbling that a sweet author like Lori Garrett would gift me her book and trust me not to be an ass-hole. I’m sure she feels differently now. For that I am truly sorry. These are my numbers, they tell my opinion.

The book is $2.99 on Amazon. I’m not broken up about that. I think that a lot of my readers will like this book. Maybe I had mono or something. I am glad that I read it and I will encourage my readers to, of course seek other reviews on the book first, but don’t be discouraged from buying it. It is a bad boy-good girl style book that is widely popular in this genre. Even if you agree with me, you’re only out a few bucks and I think that supporting new authors is important. Ms. Garrett has a bright future.
Ending—3¢

The book had a really sweet ending. I actually began liking the characters more in the last 15%. I think a follow-up book in that setting and situation would be quite good. Maybe I can convince a middle name alternative for Gunner?? I really have an aversion to that name. Trick wasn’t overly predictable at all, thankfully. I enjoyed the way Gunner showed his intentions and willingness to be there for her, in her world, which was actually his too.

So, this review isn’t my best. I didn’t LOVE this book. I did like it, mostly. Some things hit me wrong out of the gate and hindered my relationship with the main characters, Harlow and Gunner. But hey, what the hell? This is one of those books that show promise of a great author and potential that I will be a fan of hers for a long time. I will read more by Lori Garrett and I will recommend that you read this for yourself. I’m an ass-hat.

I openly think that I am the exception with this book and the rule will be that people dig it. It has a 3.5 star rating on Amazon after all. This review is just in my opinion. My advice would be, read it. Make up your own mind. Then contact me and let me know how wrong I was. I hope that happens in spades.

I loved this story! Harlow is the beautiful and sometimes spoiled daughter of a wealthy business man. The summer she turns eighteen, she falls in love with THE bad boy in her town, Gunner Hunt. Gunner comes from a long line of rough guys that are a bit on the shady side. They have a summer of passion and love but he leaves her believing that he is no good for her and she deserves someone else. Three years go by and a chance meeting....Well, you better pick this book up to find out the rest!

Harlow was great. She never let anyone tell her how to feel and who to be with. She fought for what she believed in whether it was Gunner or her dream to be a dancer. She had great friends. I loved Daisy and am excited to see that the companion book is about her! The relationship with her father was tense at times but to be expected. I was so proud of Harlow for trusting her gut with the whole Rochelle situation. Overall, she is a very likable and strong character. Which is a refreshing change from a lot of the damaged and insecure heroines we are seeing these days.

Gunner! At times he was a hot mess! However, HOT is the operative word here. WOW does he know how to take care of a girl in the bedroom! His transformation was great. He remained true to himself but became a better version. His relationship with Mr. Daniels was so sweet and I'm glad he took his sage advice. There were no games and when it came down to it, he took care of business.

Overall I thought Trick was a great read! I wish it was longer and I wanted more! I will definitely be reading more of Lori Garrett's books and suggest for you to read this one too! It's a strong and sexy novel!

I don't know why I like this book but I really do. It was a typical romance novel but I was smiling so much my cheeks hurt all throughout the book.

So the book is about Harlow Mills and Gunner Hunt. Harlow is the gorgeous and rich daddy's girl. She goes to business school even though her passion is dance and she's in love with a bad boy even though her dad wants her to marry a rich businessman. Gunner Hunt is the steamy hot owner of local bar Tricks. He thinks of himself as a loser and never good enough for Harlow.

Gunner broke up with Harlow because of his insecurities but the they always loved each other. Years later Harlow tracks Gunner down and tries to rekindle their romance. At first Gunner resists and only uses her for sex. But soon they're professing their love for each other and fighting through life's challenges.

In the end they live happily ever after. It was so sweet and funny I enjoyed every minute of it. I wanna read Daisy's story next :)

MEH
meh gifs photo: Meh image-56.gif

I'm all about second chance romances, dirty talking and some steamy sex scenes and this book had all of that, but when you can't connect with the characters, their choices, flaws and their declarations of love no matter how hard you try....*unhappy sigh* all the good things about the story just fall to the waste side and mean nothing.

2.25 stars LOL

This was a quick and steamy second chance love story. I thought this was an enjoyable read. I really liked Harlow and Gunner. I also liked this book because there wasn't a whole lot of outside drama. I mean there was some in the form of an Ex named Rochelle...but I have to say she was pretty tame compared to some other books I've read. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick and steamy book.

3.5/5 while the idea behind this book was good, I was board :( sorry but it was predictable at every twist and turn. Just felt like i was reading through the motions. I had such high hopes, but unfortunately I was let down. When you're skim reading the hot and heavy scenes you know its not all that. Well done to the author for getting it out there for people to read though!!

My rating for this book is 2.0 stars.

Review: Chaser

I am not a prude. I have been known to have a foul mouth. In Trick, foul comes off as raunchy. There is a story of love here but it’s all mucked up by the language of the love-sick, boy-toy, Gunner. It’s not like he degrades anyone, but he only has three words that are repeated over and over and I got tired of it fast. Gunner thinks he’s not good enough for the love of his life, Harlow. Three years ago he pushed her away so that she would have a better life than he thought he could provide. Big mistake. Their love only intensifies (if you love something let it go, if it returns, it’s meant to be). With Harlow back in the picture, Gunner has issues coming to grips with the idea of letting Harlow in & taking pride in his recent accomplishments.

(Gunner’s example of how he’s white trash but can be classy when needed)
I may come from white trash, but we were always taught ladies first. With everything. First in line, first to order, first to get off when we’re fucking. What can I say? I’m a gentleman to the core.
Garrett, Lori (2013-04-23). Trick (Kindle Locations 132-133). . Kindle Edition.

Harlow, a head strong, sex crazed, daddy’s girl knows what Gunner is doing and refuses to let him beat himself up with his families short-comings. For Harlow, it was love at first sight and even when Gunner pushed her away, before she left for college, she knew he was the only one for her. Even though the men in her life tell her what to do, she develops a backbone that forces her daddy & Gunner to listen up to what she wants out of life.

(Harlow reliving their first summer trip away from prying eyes. Gunner is always worried that someone will not approve of them being seen together.)
He tied my suit back on with focused attention.
“I don’t want to take any chances. The last thing you need is for your future to be over cause you’re knocked up with a Hunt baby.”
The moment shattered like a glass dropped to the cement. We fixed our suits and waded out of the water. When we came to the back porch of the beach house, I took his hands.
“I don’t want to have children yet, but I’d be proud to have yours someday, Gunner.”
He tightened his fingers over mine and his mouth went flat and hard.
“I appreciate you saying that, baby. I really do. But know this now: that’s not a possibility. I’ll never hook you that way.”
Garrett, Lori (2013-04-23). Trick (Kindle Locations 826-832). . Kindle Edition.

I realize that the locale of the story takes place in the south, but the southern ‘twang’ that some characters had was a little too ‘dixie’ for me.

A follow up for this book, Risk, is the companion story of Harlow’s friend, Daisy. Daisy is cute with lots of fire and I think if we weren’t dragged through the dirty mind of Gunner and heard more from Daisy, Trick could have been easier to love.

description

¡VALE, JODER! AHORA YO QUIERO PROBAR LO QUE DA GUNNER, PORQUE OH POR DIOS, ¿JODIDAMENTE EN SERIO? ¡ERAN COMO CONEJOS!

description

description

So I had really wanted to read this after reading a teaser a few months ago, and of course the cover is pleasing to the eyes! I wasn't really sure what to expect from the story though because the blurb is a little vague on the details except for Gunner breaking up with Harlow so make her life better.

First, okay what the ever loving f*ck. I mean, okay I get way too involved with these fictional people, obvs, but shouldn't Harlow be the one to decide who is good enough for her? You'd think yes, right? Wrong. He breaks her heart in a really kind of mean way, so I was a little concerned with her being so excited to go see him again when she moves back to their home town after three years.

Gunner has a lot of issues with how he was raised, the choices he has made, and what he wants out of life. He wants to be better, I think, but rolls through life for a while living up to what everyone already thinks of him. He can't resist Harlow and she finds a way to worm her way back under his skin. And the temperature goes up about 100 degrees in this book, almost as fast as he is able to get her panties off. I thoroughly enjoyed his dirty talk...for a while...though I must say if the pace hadn't have changed when it did I was going to start skimming...I know! Sorry, just being honest!

But!! The pace did change...they finally started talking about their relationship instead of just using sex and their passion to spend their time and it couldn't have come at a better time. This fact saved the day and made the last half of the book so enjoyable. And Harlow totally started standing up for herself with him being all caveman and if I could've gave a fist bump, I totally would have!!

There are a few other players in this story that I was super nervous about such as Rochelle (his sort of girlfriend) and Harlow's father. I was glad that for once after a bit of angst that these were resolved with a few adult conversations. Communication is key so if you take the plunge into Trick, I'd like you to know that you can expect drama and angst but nothing too cliche or over the top that makes you wish you hadn't!

There recently was some buzz surrounding a new release, Trick by Lori Garrett. What I had heard sounded interesting so I took a look and decided to download Trick as my next read. Boy am I glad I did because what a little treasure Trick was! This sexy hot read about lost love was fabulous, I couldn't put it down.

Harlow and Gunner were young lovers, Harlow came from a very well-to-do family and Gunner came from the wrong side of the tracks. Gunner never felt he was good enough for Harlow so he did what he thought was best for her, he let her go. Fast forward to the future, will seeing each other again rehash old feelings? Harlow has never gotten over Gunner, has Gunner ever gotten over Harlow?? Will they be able to get through the obstacles in the way and be together again??

Trick was a fabulous quick and easy read that had my full attention immediately! The story was great! Lots of action that kept me turning the pages. I absolutely adored the characters. Harlow is sweet and I loved how she goes after what she wants, no victim here. Gunner is sexy as hell and rough around the edges but you just know that he has a big heart. I love how Lori Garrett added flashbacks throughout the story to give us a look at Harlow and Gunner's while they were young and dating, showing us how in love they were.

Trick is definitely one read that you will want to add to your TBR! It has everything I look for in a fab read; a great love story that I couldn't get enough of, amazing characters that I didn't want to let go of, just the right amount of angst without destroying my heart and, lots and lots of sexy hotness!!! Trick will have your heart pounding and your pulse racing. The only problem that I had with Trick… I wanted more. I wasn't ready for this story to end!

“I want to be a better man for you, Harlow Mills. I want to be the man you deserve. And, I gotta tell you, that’s scary as fuck for a guy who’s spent his life trying not to prove to himself and everyone he cares about that he just doesn’t give a damn.”

Trick….Trick is a love story. A love story about a supposed BAD boy falling in love with a sweet girl. These two are from very different social classes, so he thinks she is too good for him. But, who gives a shit what social status you are!! Love is love!! And the heart wants what the heart wants. No amount of fighting it will make it go away. And that’s what Gunner Hunt did, he fought it.

Gunner broke her heart once and now 3 years later Harlow is back for more. Will they be able to get past their differences this time?? I don’t know about those differences but they sure as hell have chemistry and that sweet little girl from 3 years ago is not so sweet anymore. This story ended up being a lot hotter than I expected, but I am not complaining. And also, Harlow ended up being tougher and stronger than I originally thought. That is one thing about a story that I need, a strong female character. I need to read about a girl who either fights for her man or stands up for herself. I don’t want to read about the whiney bitches.

This was a quick, easy and enjoyable read for me that I recommend for anyone out there who loves a bad ass guy that falls hard for the love of his life. There are a few small editing issues but not enough to pull me away from the story. And, then there were a couple of times where I wanted to drop kick some of the characters(especially Gunner) but hey, that’s what makes the angst even better, right!! Angst is what I need and there was no shortage here.

Rate: 4,2/5 stars

I really liked this. It was a lovely story about love and second chances. It had funny moments, sexy moments and sweet moments, it was a very good book.

Really enjoyed this. Lori approached myself and Donna to review this, and I was on a NA kick so I couldn't wait to get started.

The moment I started this I couldn't really put it down. I really enjoyed it. The characters are great, the story is although been done before still worked fine for me because I like these kinds of stories. The sex was..well it was steaming hot. Which I also like. However there was a lot of it, and to some it may detract from the story and their relationship on a whole or feel a little unnecessary but overall, hot hot hot!

I really liked Harlow from the start and I thought she was a strong female who knew what she wanted and went out and got it, and that something was Gunner. Ah Gunner, read so many other men like Gunner, that I actually don't find it dull. Yes ok, I thought the book became slightly predictable in parts and I felt myself rolling my eyes a little in places, but none the less I still enjoyed it.

Short and sweet review, overall not a bad book at all. A little flawed in places, but the plot is good the characters well developed and there's a HEA. Fairly satisfied with the reading experience overall. It's definitely a solid 3 stars from me.

A copy of this book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Gunner and Harlow have a past. They spent one summer falling in love until Gunner walked away. As the town band boy with the rich daddy's girl , he felt he did the right thing. Harlow never felt the same and never gave up hope the Gunner would be hers. Harlow finally returns to town after 3 years ready to fight for Gunner and prove that she is more than a daddy's girl. This is one hot book , just wow when it comes to the chemistry between Harlow and Gunner. gunner tries to resist Harlow, feeling that he is not good enough for Harlow. I guess that is the typical bad boy, never good enough for the girl. I wish it would work out that they just fight for her rather than doing the "right thing" That said I still enjoyed Gunner and all his alpha male tendencies that got him in trouble.

I really wish this book was longer. I love this new adult genre but sometimes the books are just that little bit short. Their story is great and very intense, if you love a bad boy, well Gunner fits the mold. Their is no cliffhanger ending, as much as I loved their story and it could have gone on. You are well satisfied at the end. Your only wish will be that it was a longer book.

i liked that this book wasn't filled with a ton of angst like some books; you know the one, the book where the heroine is hung up on something the hero did or forgot to mention and she spends a quarter of the book pissed at him and she won't even talk to him so you end up feeling exasperated and you just want to strangle the heroine? yeah, this book wasn't like that, thank god. there were a few bumps in the road of course for the lead couple but they weren't blown out of proportion and the leads actually talked to each other (at least a little bit when they weren't having crazy, wild sex). i really enjoyed Daisy she seemed sweet and fun and like a good friend so i'm excited to read more about her in Risk, whenever that comes out. i think a prequel novella would be a nice companion to this novel so that we could see the relationship between Harlow and Gunner and how it all started, sort of get a little back story on Harlow and what her life was like before and after Gunner broke her heart for the first time. Also get a little back story on what Gunner was like before. Overall, it was enjoyable which in turn makes me happy. i give it 4.5 stars
