Book #3 in the Philadelphia Series. "We are playing an entirely different game, Nick. While other girls might wait patiently until you breakup with your many girlfriends, I can't. You see, I have been waiting all my life for something real. And if this isn't real, no way am I spending another hour on waiting." Nick has never allowed himself to get attached to a woman. While his friends were settling down, he was having the time of his life, a womanizer with a heart of gold. Right up until Chelsea came into his life. He was drawn to Chelsea from the first time he saw her ... well, actually it might have been the second time, but it didn't take Nick long to realize he might be over his head and completely out of his element. Chelsea wrote Nick off after their first encounter, but soon she realizes she has found a good friend in him. Falling for Nick was never Chelsea's intention, but sometimes even the best intentions prove to be out of your control. The closer Chelsea and Nick get, the more they push seem to make a mess of things. Can Nick figure out how to have a healthy relationship before he loses Chelsea forever?
Taryn is a USA Today Bestselling Author who is also a lover of books and wine, usually enjoying them together. Writing has been a way for her to step away from chaotic reality and live a bit through her fun and sometimes damaged characters. You will almost always find a Happy Ever After at the end of her stories. She can't help it, it's an addiction. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, but cherishes those quiet nights after everyone is asleep when she can curl up on the couch to read with her geriatric dog. (Shh, don't tell...He's not supposed to be on the couch.)
Hot and cold. One upmanship. Juvenile antics of a manwhore.
This is an irritating read...his failure to admit or declare he’s developing deeper feelings other than mere friendship results in her making plans to go on a date.
Evidently she should be a mind-reader. He makes a career out of making bad decisions.
This bloke, I’d make certain he was checked for STD’s...he’s a walking PSA disease.
Out of pique because she is dating, he brings home yet another ‘random’ and when asked who she is, he claims “No one. She’s just my roommate”. Not his friend, his roommate.
An innocent date is unrelatable to him, since his idea of men-female relationships...ends in a bed.
He doesn’t declare his feelings...if your feelings are changing and you want to explore your relationship. Say something. She is not a mind-reader.

This was my favorite of all three of the Philadelphia series books. Perhaps it's because I've increasingly learned more details of this group of friends, but regardless, the series is a fun, quick read and some of the one liners from Talia and Nick need to go in my gotta remember for just the right moment file. Too freaking funny. Love it.
Nick, the playboy of the fun group of guys, and now newly added girls, is the one that lets loose the most. Even though he has a good, serious job as an accountant, he lives his social life like a college frat boy, refusing to settle down, find one girl and settle into a loving relationship that may lead to something more permanent and fulfilling.
So, during the wedding of one of Nick's dearest and best friends, he is paired of with the bride's friend from work, Chelsea. So the scene is set...there is a dance floor, there is booze, there is kissing and there is a proposition. But at the end of the night, will there be more than one consequence to be paid as a result of the actions that take place?
Chelsea, a seemingly sweet, naive girl seems to be WAY off the radar for a playboy like Nick. He has one type of girl that he tends to engage sexually and casually with, and it is not a girl like Chelsea. But after asking her to come home with him, something Chelsea has NEVER done, he sort of opens the door to the floodgates of things he never tends to experience, one of which is guilt.
While the proposition did not turn out anywhere near the way Chelsea expected, or even had hoped, it seems she cannot get away from Nick, no matter how much she tries to ignore him and stay away after that night.
But Chelsea decides to finally let bygones by bygones and they choose to be friends. Then something happens and Chelsea finds herself without a home in a catastrophe that was beyond her control. She is informed of a shelter that is set up for people to stay, but she decides maybe Nick will let her stay with him, but when she gets there she gets way more than she bargained for...especially since she just left him not too long before.
This book was the constant struggle and fear of a man who spent so much of his time detached and staying that way only to be smacked in the face repeatedly with feelings that were developing for a woman that he could not seem to stop hurting, so much so he renders her to a puddle of tears on more than one occasion. But thankfully, in one redeeming moment, he actually realizes what he does and quickly remedies it, slowly starting to hate himself more and more with each passing moment.
But when he reaches a point of no return when one of his teammates takes an interest in Chelsea, and after a botched attempt at getting her to embark in uncharted waters for her, his teammate begins to say things about her. Nick is far from happy and, well...just like Tom in the last book, that's when it all clicks into place.
The ending seemed perfect, and you are reminded of the bittersweet struggle that they endured. The author alludes to the fact that there was quite the learning curve needed for Nick as he continued to try and embrace his new relationship and struggle with all the new feelings, wants and needs he had that he never had before. But it was true...both he and Chelsea were out of their elements in their relationship together, but by embarking on the unknown together, they were able to create something that was learned together and truly theirs...
Loved this story...great ending. I wish there was more to come that highlighted then all later. Perhaps the author will put me out of my misery and do a book that lets me know how they all have made out together.
First impression of H is that he is a jerk. After a bad first impression, I’m not sure he improves when he can’t figure out how to show Chelsea he likes her and his friends have to actually suggest he take her on a date. C’mon, he can’t figure that out for himself?? Nick made stupid mistakes, but Chelsea was a very peaceful character and didn’t blow issues out of proportion or hold grudges. On the other hand, Nick seemed very immature and selfish.
Book Quotes: “At some point we all have to choose - do we fall back on what we’ve always done, or do we step forward to something new.” “We tend to fall in love the same we we get sick: without wanting to, without believing it, against our will and completely unable to defend ourselves. It was bound to happen - even to you.”
This was my favorite of the three books because of the main character being Nick. From book 1 he was one of my favorite characters because of his snarky comments. I was so glad he ended up with his own story! I really enjoyed Chelsea and Nick's story. It had a little less steaminess than the other two but it was appropriate considering their stories. I want to be friends this group! They are so much fun and so supportive of each other! I love that we learned a little more of Tom and Talia's story too. The ending to this story was a perfect wrap-up of the series. I look forward to reading more by this author!
I have been waitng for his Book forever. I so fell in love with these three best friends from the beginning. Nick finally met his heart but pissed me off along the way. I am so happy things turned out for the best. Taryn did her thing in closing the series but maybe we can get more? Great read to start off my Saturday.
This book was a quick read and it was pretty decent. I wouldn't put a lot of stock into the story but for free its a quickie. All in all I liked the story but it wasn't a realistic story. The pace was to fast for my liking and the dialogue between the characters was boring and simply to fake for me.
read all three books and enjoyed all the characters in each book..you need to read all three books to see how the stories unfold for all of these friends.
I was afraid that they were - once again - let a misunderstanding fester ... but it seemed to be resolved sooner than in previous installments. I like that Chelsea and Nick waited before becoming intimate and didn’t just jump in the sack right away.
The one thing I couldn’t get over: when it was revealed in the story that Talia was giving up her apartment, why didn’t Chelsea opt to move *there*, instead of continuing to crash at Nick’s place?

"At some point we all have to choose - do we fall back on what we've always done, or do we step forward to something new?" Nick is a guy who loves to play soccer, party, and sleep around. He loves his life and finds himself in a different situation where he can't help but have feelings for Chelsea.
Chelsea is stuck in a rut when her house catches on fire and is homeless. When she goes to Nick sees that there is another woman at her house and realizes shes got nowhere to go. When Nick finally finds her, he offers her to stay at his place for a while. They eventually end up being friends which is new territory for Nick. Chelsea is slowly falling for this player Nick and knows she can't get too close because he is a love'em and leave'em type of guy and she isnt that type of girl. Will Nick eventually tell Chelsea how he feels before he messes up again?
" We tend to fall in love the same way we get sick: without wanting to, without believing it, against our will and completely unable to defend ourselves. It was bound to happen - Even to you."
I'm trying to figure out which book is my favorite, it goes between Part of Me or Out of My Element. Hmm. I think this book is my favorite, I liked Nick and was surprised that he would find love and liked his character. No matter what he did, he always seemed to find himself in trouble or at a misunderstanding making him look bad. He was a guy who was conflicted used to his old ways but didn't find joy in it after Chelsea. I loved this book was two point of views I got to see just how out of their elements they were going by being around each other and learning how they were changing. I loved the chemistry between the two characters.
"You're worth fighting for. And if that means I have to break somebody's face, then so be it."
Like the other books this was a fun, quick and easy read and I enjoyed all the book in this series. All the books were very predictable but sweet and interesting nonetheless. Highly Recommend this book and the series.
Nick....... Nick....... Nick....... player, party-er, best friend and lover!
Nick has it all. He loves to play soccer, he loves to party, and he loves to tag and bag woman. Yes Nick is the ultimate player but he has kept his heart protected from being hurt and he has no intentions of ever changing that. Then one day his friend Chelsea's house burns down and she is left homeless and she comes over to his house to ask for help but finds him with company. When Chelsea sees that Nick has company she leaves abut Nick goes after her and tells her to stay with him until things get sorted out for her.
Chelsea agrees to stay with Nick and the closer these two get to one another the harder it is to keep apart. They both have feelings for one another but Chelsea won't let her heart go to Nick because he is the ultimate player. While all his friends are settling down Nick is still tagging and bagging girls so Chelsea keeps her locked down until Nick can show her he means what he is saying and can leave the play boy life alone and commit to her and only her.
I loved watching the changes that happened to Nick. As he slowly started to let Chelsea's love in and let her into his heart and soul! This series is a must read that will leave you laughing crying and everything in between as you get to see broken guys open up and allow whole woman love them!
Definitely my least favorite of the series. I gave the first 2 books 4 stars but this one only got 3.
I loved Chelsea until the end. I never got to really like Nick. He was a total tool 95% of the time and I just could not forgive his d-bag reactions/actions. Chelsea started strong but then forgave him WAY too easily for me. I do not believe they can have a HEA - if he could not even change his ways for the few short weeks they were falling for each other, how can I believe he will never behave that way again.
Just as predicable as the first two in the series. I did enjoy this one a bit more, and I credit that to knowing the main character, Nick, from the first two books. These books were easy reads, but I do not see myself recommending them. The writing was not good for me. It seemed a bit like a teenager or 20-something wrote this.
Its such a good fast paced story I didn't realize this was book 3 of a series so I guess you could say I read them out of order lol but it was a good storyline I loved all the characters and I will be reading the other two books now recommended
