On the run with a stolen gun and a bag full of money, Moriah just wants to hide out and stay one step ahead of the crazy drug dealer that murdered her family. Hiding out in a small out the way town sounds perfect, until she gets an unexpected houseguest.
KC is a Navy SEAL and feeling burnt out after his latest high risk mission, is back home to decide whether it’s time to retire or not. Finding his uncle’s beach house already occupied is a surprise but the attraction he feels for Moriah throws him for a loop. Neither one is looking for a relationship but that doesn’t stop them both from reaching out to the other. KC knows Moriah isn’t telling him the whole story but he does know that she’s running scared and he’ll do anything to protect her. And while Moriah knows that KC is one of the good guys, she can’t shake off the feeling that she’s on borrowed time with him. When the crazy dealer tracks her down, Moriah’s secret is revealed and KC (along with an assortment of other side characters) come to her rescue.
Overall the blurb pretty much delivers what it promises and I enjoyed the quick read. I didn’t connect very strongly with either character (Moriah because she cried, a lot! And KC because he stayed pretty one dimensional throughout). I did love KC’s Uncle Dan, a nosey, well meaning matchmaker. He lent a bit of humor and light heartedness to the story.
Would I recommend? For insta-love fans that don’t mind getting to the ‘I love you’s with zero drama or angst, this one is a comfy read.

“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Take the Money and Run" the first book in The Makone Brothers series is fantastic! The Malone boys may not be the super dominant ex navy seals of Trident security we all know and love , but the boys of Trident are going to have to move over and make some room for the strong , protective and honorable Malone men!
KC Malone , navy seal is finally on leave after another mission outside of the country and after a long drive finally arrives in Whisper NC at his Uncle Dan's beach cottage bleary eyed and tired but he finds an unexpected surprise waiting for him. A beautiful women holding a gun demanding to know what he is doing there . Moriah Jensen, is on the run after coming home to her apartment in Chicago to find her mother, sister and nephew murdered and sure that her sisters crazy drug dealing boyfriend was responsible ; she fears she will be next. Moriah has managed to escape being captured twice so far , she has travelled by bus , not staying any place she needs to give I.D. And keeping to herself; when she finally arrives in the small town of Whisper she thinks she can finally settle for a little before moving on, take time to get a false identity firmly in place. Fortune shines on her when she meets Dan Sullivan; she is at enough ease to tell Dan a slightly embellished story of running from an abusive boyfriend and Dan being the kind protective man he is offers her his Beach cottage as a rental. Of course Dan never said anything about his single Nephew coming home for leave and it seems he forgot to mention to KC about the women he rented the cottage to ; accidently on purpose.
KC as tired as he is is faced with trying to talk a scared women into putting down the gun and only partially succeeds when he just strolls to his normal bedroom, closes and locks the door after telling moriah they could straighten out the problem in the morning. Moriah and KC Get off to a bit better if a start the next day and though ideally Moriah would not like anyone gather cottage with her when push comes to shove and KC has no other place to stay these to agree to share and KC offers to teach her some self defense and shoot .as the week wears on these two become moe and more age as with one another. And the attraction that each feels for one another becomes stronger ; much to KC 's Uncle Dan's glee. Moriah's lie comes out when KC brother Brian a State Bureua of Inveestigations officer grows curious and runs her liscence ; Moriahs instinct is to run, afraid that Brian's inquiry will lead the drug dealers to her location; but the Malone men are not going to let that happen, they reach out to their their brother Sean an Fbi Agent and then KC is also reaching out to his Navy seal Brothers for help protect her an hopefully take down these men ; why because he had an epiphany ! Oh, fuck! KC sat up with a start. No! No! No! It couldn’t be! But it was. Damn it! Somewhere in the past week or so, he had fallen in love with her. Head-over-heels in love, you dumb fuck!" So buckle in for a bit of a ride, some danger, intrigue, sizzling sex and romance all in the name of love! I am looking forward to Brian, Sean and Uncle Dan Malone,s stories. Arc Graciuosly supplied by author for an honest review !
After her family is killed by drug dealers working with dirty cops, Moriah Jensen literally takes the money and runs (the money being left behind with her sister by her sister's drug dealing boyfriend). She ends up renting a beach house owned by Navy SEAL KC Malone's uncle, and they end up as roommates (and eventually more) as they get to know each other.
This is a great romantic suspense. I liked the characters a lot, and can't wait to get to know more about the rest of the Malone's. Moriah is strong and smart, even if she doesn't always make the best decisions, and the romantic and suspense parts of the plot are well-integrated.
Meet Moriah her sister, nephew and mother have just been murdered and now she's on the run. With a gun, a bag of stolen cash and her sisters drug dealing boyfriend and possibly a couple of crooked cops on her tail.
And after a couple of near misses she meets Dan Malone. Who can see shes in trouble and offers her a place to stay his beach cabin in Whisper, North Carolina.
What Moriah doesn't know is Dan has an ulterior motive. As Dan is planning a little matchmaking with a side of help.
As his nephew KC a SEAL is about to arrive home on four weeks leave and will be staying at the cabin too. Especially if Dan gets his way.
Now all KC has to do is charm Moriah into letting him and build her trust and hope she'll tell him the truth about why she's really on the run and hiding in Whisper.
And with a cast of really likable characters, a little action and suspense. Not to mention plenty of heat as Moriah and KC give in to the chemistry between them. This was a really enjoyable and engaging read and I'm excited to read more from the Malone Brothers in the future.
My thanks to Booksprout and Samantha Cole for the opportunity to read a free copy of Her Secret. 😊
I just finished this after starting to read it a couple of days ago. I loved this book! Moriah Jensen is on the run with a gun and a bag full of money when she ends up in North Carolina. She rents a beach cottage from Dan Malone and while she's there, KC Malone, a hot-as-hell SEAL on leave, ends up in the same cottage. They agree to stay out of each other's way, but soon KC is teaching her self-defense moves and how to shoot to protect herself from her abusive ex-boyfriend. Things escalate quickly and soon they are sharing more than just the house! But soon, danger and Moriah's past comes knocking on their door. Will their newfound love survive the lies she told to keep her safe? This story had a lot of great dialogue and the characters were well drawn. The pace was quick and there was great suspense and tension throughout. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series! I give this one five great big stars! Great to find a new author and series to read!
Had the honor of meeting Samantha @SaSS 18. Had no idea who she is, what she wrote, her style, genre within romance but she was kind enough to speak with me. I need to tell everyone to take chances on new authors, read their work, I've been blessed with finding so many great, good, and magnificent storytellers by taking a chance. Samantha Cole is a great find, the writing is impressive the details so accurate, you know she has done her due diligence. Really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to everyone who likes a little mystery and mayhem with their romance. AJM
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author.. (netgalley) I must say I was shocked, I have never read this author before and I want to know why not. I fell in love with a new family The Malones, hot. his book was so enjoyable, entertaining and just fun. Grab a copy my friends. Enjoy!
I've not encountered this author before. More's the pity. When you break this story down into its constituent parts, it can't fail. There's the suspense thriller angle as the female lead tries to avoid being killed by the thugs that murdered members of her family. There are the Malone brothers, who are either Navy SEALs, policemen, or FBI officers. Naturally, they're babe magnets as well as action heroes. Then there's the romance angle, and THAT is seriously hot. This author has got all the angles covered. Once you add in the fact that each of these angles is handled with great knowledge, and aplomb, then you've got a surefire success.
Take The Money And Run: Malone Brothers Book 1 Samantha Cole 5 stars
Its no secret I am a fan of Samantha Cole. Her Trident Men have led us on numerous adventures of the nice and not so nice kind. Thinking how can she top her current series I clicked up my ARC and dove in.
HOLY MALONE BROTHERS!
Moriah Jensen is running. Her life depends on her moving and being smarter. Her choices up until now have not been mistake free and so she is on the move again. If she can just make it somewhere else .. but she is afraid even the furthest place away from the men hunting her still wont be far enough to stay alive.
KC Malone (Kevin Christopher) is on leave from his team – oh wait – yes SEAL TEAM SIX – for a few weeks. He is tried after the last assignment and taking the job as an instructor is starting to sound better and better each time he makes it home alive. At thirty five he isn’t so sure how much more his body can take. Heading home to Whisper, North Carolina he cant wait to fall into a few day of sleep on the beach at his Uncle’s cottage. Standing with a 9mm aimed at him held by a petit and beautiful woman at 2am inside that cottage was not on his list of things to do first upon arriving home.
First of all lets just have a chat here about the Malone brothers INCLUDING their Uncle Dan. Im obviously going to be burning up the road between Tampa (Trident Men) and North Carolina; dividing my time between the Malone men and the Trident Security. A girl cannot chose so don’t ask me. However I can say I definitely have a new favorite character and its Dan Malone. Crazy right? The Uncle ….. just wait. I want to work at Malone Hardware and give Jinx belly rubs. And Samantha I'm going to need his story ....
We meet all of the Malone brothers in this first release and lawd have mercy. Brian and Sean seem to be quit yummy as well – all in Samantha fashion. However I think even if Samantha wrote about a dumpy balding man trying to make a difference I would love him just as much. Her characters hurdle off the pages, seize you in their arms and beg you to love them using their raspy voices against your ear. RIGHT!?!?!?!? -- Don’t act like you don’t giggle like a little school girl because you know you do!
This is a story of trust, love at first glance by gunpoint and gives you hope that there is ever lasting love. The Malone family are good eggs – This is a fast but amazing read. Fast because you wont want to put it down and amazing because the characters are going to hold you captive from the first page to the last. Readers love a group of characters they can imagine walking down the street. In my world a Navy Seal guy can pass you by daily. (I live in a huge military community). Crazy as it sounds all of her characters from all her books could be living in my town. When you find yourself looking at people cruising about town, in the gym, restaurants and thinking hey that could be KC Malone or Jinx or Dan Malone you have either become so entrapped by the stories you are reading or you are a crazed stalker …. I plead the fifth and potentially check both boxes.
The Malone Brothers is the next must read series from Samantha. Bravo lady – BRAVO! Bring on Sean. The Devils Spare Change is next --- And while you are waiting go back and click up the Trident Series if you haven’t yet. Next up is Tickle His Fancy Book 6 Brody and Fancy’s story ---I think we should ban together and write Samantha encouraging her to do the biggest and best give a way ever. How about a SEAL from Team Six or Team Four, add the Malone brothers to the mix and all the delightful secondary characters appearing in her books --- yup best giveaway EVER –- I have done my job telling you over and over to grab these up!
AMAZING AUTHOR – Thank you Samantha for the ARC! I am your biggest fan girl --- To the moon and back --- or Tampa and North Carolina …. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
Take the Money and Run is a new romantic suspense series by Samantha A. Cole, whom you may know from the steamy Trident Security series. This new series is not quite so erotic, it lacks the BDSM elements, so may appeal more to mainstream romance readers.
I believe this series will focus on the three Malone Brothers - all current or former military. From KC Malone, the Navy SEAL, to Brian Malone, the Sheriff, to Sean Malone, the FBI Agent - there is sure to be plenty of alpha male goodness to keep your interest. KC Malone comes home to the tiny beach town of Whisper, North Carolina to find a tiny auburn-haired dynamo half-nekkid and pointing a gun at him when he enters his uncle's house at 2am.
Said dynamo is the terrified but determined Moriah Jensen, who is on the run from drug kingpins in Chicago. Having just lost her family in a horribly gruesome scene, Moriah Jensen is masquerading as Maura Jennings in small towns between Chicago and the east coast in an attempt to elude the bad guys and corrupt cops after her. Luckily for her, Moriah/Maura finds herself in Whisper, NC and smackdab in the middle of the Malone family.
I loved Uncle Dan Malone, collector of strays and matchmaker extraordinaire. I think he was my favorite character of the story. KC was a good alpha hero, definitely a take-charge type with an abundance of sex on the brain. I wasn't as crazy about Moriah/Maura - her character annoyed me at times for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on.
This is a short book so you are going from your first meeting to I Love You within a few weeks time. It didn't feel too much like instalove though - the relationship built over a couple of encounters and dates. I felt like there was some chemistry missing in this book... the sexytimes seemed a bit crass. Maybe that was my mood at the time I was reading - but I just didn't find them to be as sexy as what we saw from the Trident Security series.
The suspense elements were well done and detailed - but I wouldn't expect anything less from Ms. Cole as former law enforcement. I think I liked the suspense aspects, plan and execution better than the romance. The next book focuses on Sean, the FBI Agent. So I look forward to what kind of trouble he is going to find himself in.
There were a couple of editing issues in this one. Nothing horrible but it could have used another pass through with a proofreader. This book was available on Kindle Unlimited as of July 11, 2016. 3 stars / 3 flames. Full review posted at Bambi Unbridled.
Take the Money & Run introduces us to the strong, sexy Alpha Malone brothers. What happens when an exhausted Navy seal coming home for leave encounters a sexy woman waiving a pistol around in his uncle's house?? Total chaos! KC Malone just needs a break. After traveling for hours, he goes to his uncle's beach house to decompress. It should be empty since his uncle doesn't live there anymore, right? Wrong! KC finds out his uncle has taken a stray under his arm & has rented her the cabin. Moriah is on the run after her family is murdered by drug dealers who are now after her. She isn't ready to trust anyone & isn't prepared for her reaction to KC.
From the opening scene, Samantha draws you into the story & keeps you enthralled with the twists & turns in the plot. Her characters draw you into their lives & endear themselves to you. The chemistry between KC & Moriah is intense but you are aware of the trust issues in the way the story progresses. Even though you know who is after her, the suspense builds as you try to figure out when & where they'll attack. Will she stand & survive? Or will she run, leaving KC behind? Great book & can't wait to read more of this series!
Received an ARC for an honest review; I didn't think I could enjoy a book more than her Trident series and boy was I wrong. I absolutely loved it. The Malone Brothers are just as badass as the Trident guys and the storyline was awesome. It flowed well and didn't bog down; the H/h had great chemistry and the secondary characters were entertaining. Do yourself a favor and make sure you get this book.
Moriah is on the run with a drug lords stolen money and is hiding away in a small beach town; KC just came off a mission with his Seal Team and is mentally exhausted. He is considering taking a job as an instructor and does not expect the gun wielding women in his uncle's house. The instant mutual sexual attraction is great but Moriah is terrified. KC steps up when she tells him she is running from an abusive relationship and offers to teach her how to defend herself. Their relationship evolves quickly and fluidly. When things get hairy his brothers and a few teammates join forces to bring down the bad guys. I look forward to the rest of the stories.
Book one in a three part series. I am not one who normally reads a crime romance. I fell in love with the characters and the story plot. The main characters were very strong and you were on both their sides throughout the book. Once I started reading, I could not put it down. Samantha Cole is an amazing writer and wrote them really well. This book could be read as a stand alone because there is no cliff hanger. If you read book one be ready to continue onto book two because it continues with Sean one of the other brothers.
A great start for another new amazing series by Samantha Cole.. i felt in love with Samantha's writing when i came across her Trident Security Series, since then i became a huge fan of her work and now i'm super happy to start reading another new series from this amazing author..
Take the money and run was another surprise .. full of love and also suspense. i love KC he is a great guy and also very hot as you know Samantha always throws the hottest males in the planet.. KC arrives to his uncle house to have a so well deserved vacations after being on a mission for the NAVY SEALS .. when he arrives, he didn't expect to find himself facing a beautiful woman with a gun, pointing at him.. Moriah is running to save her life from some drug dealers who not only murdered her family but also are looking for a bag of cash that she took when she left the most horrible scene she ever faced in her life..
i love the story, how they slowly start to fall in love but at the same time they can't denied their attraction for each other.. they become closer when he starts to help her and train her to face "her ex" as she said ... you can also have a glimpse of all the Malone brothers in this first book .. you can feel their special bond with each other, once they are all in the same room plotting to help and bring down the bad guys.. i can't wait to read the story of the other brothers (Brian and Sean) ..
I hope uncle Dan falls in love too, he deserves a beautiful woman who will take care of him :) plus he is the real deal when it comes to matchmaker's. he is just the sweetest guy in the world but i bet uncle Dan was and is hot as hell too ..
what i love about Samantha's novels is that the characters are always mature, they are heroes and heroines they are always fighting for what they want .. in this case they always fight for their women.. they're pure gentlemen ..
if you are looking for a great story with suspense and of coarse romance and love and hot male characters, you need to read Take the money and run.. believe me you are not going to be able to put down this amazing book..
Samantha is now on my short list of favorite authors. The Trident Security series is out of this world awesome and now the Malone Brothers are right there with them! The perfect combination of love , drama , and family! I'm totally in love with Samantha A. Cole's books and I will not miss any new ones coming out!!!!
This is the first book in the series about three brothers who were raised by their uncle after loosing their parents. KC Malone is a Navy Seal hoping for some R&R at the beach house he was raised in. He's met by a gun wielding Moriah Jansen at the door. Moriah is on the run from some really bad guys. Both of them are now in danger.
This is my first book by Samantha A. Cole. I loved the characters, this book keeps you turning the pages needing to know what's gonna happen next. I'm usually not big on reading suspense, but Samantha was able to draw me in. I can't wait to start the second book.
I loved this book!! There is something so sexy about a Navy SEAL!! KC and Moriah's story is wonderfully told. They go from strangers to friends in a short time and you learn a lot about each person. It is heartwarming and steamy!!
I was gifted a free audible copy of this, but also purchased the kindle version-I pay attention better if I’m reading along with the audio. I enjoyed the excitement of Moriah running from her recent dangerous past and how the story played out.
I skipped most parts, I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters and had a hard time getting into the story This is too bad, because I loved her Trident Security series !
I've come to love reading Samantha's books, because you don't just get a story, you get a story that leaves you feeling a apart of it. You feel like you know the characters and you feel every emotion they go through. Marian and KC are well suited. I loved both of their characters and I'm glad they got the end they deserved. However, with all of Samantha's books you do get many twists and turns, which you sit hooked wondering how it's going to play out. I look forward to reading book 2. But I do recommend this book to you all.
I submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title.
Young woman running for her life, from drug thugs, who had already killed her family. Luckily, she trusted a kindly old man, and rented a beach house he had. However, he didn't say anything about his hunk of a nephew that wanted to crash, very late one night. Okay, a lot more to the tale, but you need to listen or read it, for yourself. The narrator did a fantastic job of reading this book, adding a further umph to a knockout story.
I love when an author writes about the military and get it right. Yes I am an Army Veteran. And Samantha gave this love story justice. There was action in it too. I mean who does not love it when an alpha man takes control, but after listens the woman can still handle business.
New Series by Samantha A. Cole, Take the Money and Run is well written with suspense and romance. This is the 1st book in the series and we are introduced to the Malone brothers and their matchmaking uncle Dan. Dan is known for picking up strays and this time he finds Moriah (Maura) a beautiful stray that is running for her life. He provides her with a safe haven while hoping to make a match with his nephew KC. All KC wants is a little R&R after his return from a SEAL Operation only to enter his uncle's house to find a beautiful Moriah with a gun pointing at him. Now they are both in danger. Will they lose their lives or their hearts......?
Take the Money and Run: Malone Brothers book 1 by Samantha Cole
** Advanced copy was kindly provided by the author, but that has not influenced my review**
Book 1 of a new series based on the 3 Malone Brothers.... this book is KC's story with Moriah Jensen. Cute story, I was more caught up in the suspense of the story. There is an instant-love story, but tame in comparison to Samantha's Trident series, which I'm okay with, just forewarning if that's what you are looking for or expecting. KC is most definitely a hot alpha male that falls for and ends up helping Moriah. Moriah who's on the run from, well let just say her troubles. Loved the matriarch, the uncle, he is a great character and roll model for the Malone boys.
Yay, This was an unexpected yet awesome release from the supercool Samantha Cole. I love, love love the Trident Security men, and didn't think she could top those alphas - but sorry boys it's time to move over KC Malone and his brother's have entered the building, or book as it turns out.
Instead of the ultra alpha presence that in the Trident series, book one in the Malone series shows strong, navy SEAL's without the dominant behavior we are used to reading. In typical Ms Cole style, Take The Money and Run focus' on the strong men of the Malone family, this one is KC's story. On leave from the Navy, KC is dead tired on his feet, and when he enters his uncle's beachside cabin he is met with a tiny woman with mad attitude and a loaded gun.
Moriah Jensen is on the run, after finding her mother, younger sister and nephew murdered. For months she has moved from place to place trying to outrun the drug dealers wanting her dead. Now, after meeting Dan Malone, he has offered his cabin for her to stay at for a while. She never expected to meet a gorgeous man, litterally in the cabin at 2am. Despite her best efforts getting rid of KC was never going to happen.
His offer to help her protect herself, from an apparent violent ex-boyfriend, Moriah and her lies dig a deeper and deeper hole, especially after she an undeniable attraction to this alpha. As the pair enter an easy live together routine, her world falls apart when KC'S brother discovers who she really is.
Now with her life in danger again, and the real chance of the drug dealers finding her, she takes the help of the Malone men. KC falls so quickly for Moriah, that her lies soon turn to a feeling of wanting to protect her, and a I love you, quickly follows. It seems that this trip to Wisper North Carolina will change Moriah's life forever, and for KC looking for his out of the Navy, he discovers that settling down out of the field, is not such a bad idea.
As with Samantha's other stories, this one has a great storyline, loveable characters and plenty of steam. But for me the best line from this book - DANM THAT MAN, AND HIS FUCKING STRAYS! love it. This is a great start to another fantastic series. I certainly look forward to Brian and Sean Malone stories, and their super cute uncle Dan, and skanky dog, jynx.
ARC received by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I got the pleasure of beta reading this bad boy. And as much as I loved her Trident Series, the Malone brothers take the cake for me. Holy Moly ladies the Malone brothers have entered the book world.
Moriah is running from a very dangerous group of men who played a major part in leaving her without a family and a place to call home. That is until she reaches a small town where a kind gentlemen has taken her in. Dan is a local company owner and a family member of KC Malone. Moriah is startled and scared when KC just happens to walk into the cottage one day. After trying to get him to leave she finally gives in to his offer to take self defense classes and shooting practice until KC returns to duty. She wasn't prepared to fall for him. She wanted to keep her secret in fear of losing KC. But the secret she is holding in becomes revealed when her belongings are found.. She begins to gather her things to go on the run again but the Malone brothers and friends protect her and help uncover the ones who are responsible for the tragic death of her family members.
Swoon worthy KC arrives back home for a small vacation from his job as US Navy Seal. Upon returning home, he walks in and comes face to face with Moriah. He wasn't planning on having company and his guest is requesting him to leave the cottage. However, without any where for him to go he has no choice but to stay until he returns home. He has made an agreement with Moriah. He trains her in self defense and in return allows him to stay in the cottage. Neither KC nor Moriah are prepared for the amount of chemistry that they share.
Things begin to get a little rocky when the secret gets out of who she really is. But with the protection of the Malone brothers things will be just fine.
5 Stars for a fantastic read!!!! Now I am so anxiously awaiting Sean's Story!!!!!
I absolutely LOVE the Trident security books and couldn’t wait to sit down and read this new series from the talented Samantha A. Cole and what a start to with Take The Money and Run: Malone Brothers book 1.
KC is an army SEAL, on leave for a few weeks. Exhausted from being away so long, he comes home to find a women in his hall way pointing a gun at him. Not knowing what to do about the situation, he talks her down when he can see the fear in her eyes. He sleeps on it and offers to help the stray he knows his Uncle is offering to help.
Moriah is on the run with a duffel bag of cash and a gun. Moriah is fearing for her life and is trying to hide from her sisters ex-drug dealer boyfriend who is after the bag. When KC offers to help Moriah, she jumps at the chance. She needs all the help she can get to stay alive and keep everyone else out of danger.
I have to say this was a gripping read, and hot as hell. KC is so swoon worthy, he is all alpha male and doesn’t hold back with his dirty mouth. Even though he has only just met Moriah, he is completely protective over her and will do anything he can to help her.
The Malone men are just fabulous characters to read about. They are such a strong family and I’m just in love with Uncle Dan and Jinx, I found myself smiling whenever they were in the scene.
Throughout the book your heart is pounding waiting for everyone’s next move, it was compelling from start to finish. You never know where the next chapter is going to take you and trust me, this book goes places.
Another smash it from this author. I cannot recommend it enough, bring on Sean’s book!!
