Gage McKinnon, Duke of Seabridge, stands in the middle of his richly appointed study looking at the woman who raises such conflicting emotions in him. He loves her and deeply desires her, yet he fears what she represents. He is human. She is not.
“You are not like me, Sara, no matter how much you want to be.”
“You know, Gage, you are absolutely correct. I am nothing like you. You are a breed unto yourself. Feel free to look it up. You will find it under cold-blooded bastard,” Sara said just before closing the door.

The Maji, an ancient race of shape shifters falling into the abyss of extinction, finds the last of their purebred females dead in spite of their best efforts to hide her from The Hunter Society, a group bent on their total eradication. Dr. Sara Reed, a half-human, half-Maji, is the Maji’s last and only hope of survival. Having lived her life on her terms on the far outer fringes of Maji society, Sara must make a decision: turn her back and walk away or help the very people who have shunned and ridiculed her all of her life. Gage is making that decision just a little easier.

Gage also finds himself torn between his duty to the family name and the desires of his heart. His children will be the future dukes and duchesses in a line spanning centuries. In his mind, those children must be worthy of the name McKinnon. No matter how much he loved her, Sara is not human and his fear of the Maji’s power is a greater deterrent to following his heart. Gage also is faced with a dilemma when asked to assist in pulling the Maji back from the brink of extinction. Will he turn his back or do what is right?

Good addition to the series, although I wasn't completely satisfied with some of it. A lot of the trouble between Gage and Sara, being that Gage had a hard time accepting the Maji part of Sara, could have been resolved if Nic and Morgan came clean to him about his heritage. I could see their point in not telling him, because they were afraid he would withdraw from everyone and close himself off, but I think him not knowing the truth did more harm than good.

The parts about Landon McKinnon were interesting, hoping for a book about him in the future.

Besides the first, I enjoyed this one the most of the series. They have become predictable however. So reading them back to back is not something I would recommend.

I'm reviewing the series as a whole as I found them a really good read. The story flowed at an amazing pace, the characters realistic and each book although a story on their own referred to characters from the other books.
Although the series is classed as a time travel story it is only at the end of the first book that we see any time travel.

book four of the McKinnon legends.

Gage is the current Duke of Seabridge, the 17th.
Sara is the doctor who saved Cullen when he was brought forward. they had an intense and passionate affair, then Gage found out Sara was Maji..an ancient race of shifters as old as time. Gage reacted badly and they parted, nasty and hurtful things were said by Gage.

they come back togehter as Grace has her first child. clearly the passion is still there, but there are new secrets to be hidden. there are other issues that need dealing with...the Maji are dying and Sara is the only female left of breeding age, even if she is not of pure blood.

Gage and Sara travel back in time, to Nic and Morgan's time at Seabridge to try to save the Maji. while there, shocking secrets are revealed and both of them try to come to terms with their feelings and these secrets.

i cant say i'm not loving these books, cos i am. some reviewers are finding them very-much-the-same, and in some ways they are, BUT only to the point fo how stubborn these men are and how much they love their women! i love the flipping backwards and forwards, and catching up with the older characters and meeting new ones.

again, a new character is mentioned, in some detail, Landon McKinnon. im hoping we'll get his story in book six. off to read about the missing child of Nic and Morgans, although at 23, he's hardly a child!

Purest Blood was excellent. Traveling back in time, shape shifters, mystery, and more. Puzzle pieces are coming together from some of the past books . Fate has a way of bring those who are suppose to be together. It is very obvious Dr. Sara and Gage should be . But like most McKinnon men Gage has a hard time accepting and finding his way to love. A story of times past and present and fate bringing it all front and center!

Can't wait to read book 5.

I liked Sara a lot. She was a great heroine, but as I said in my review of one of the other books of this series, mythical creatures are not her strong suit. I'm good with the fantastical nature of time travel and all, but bringing in the Maji just felt weird and it came out of left field. Also I would like to punch Gage, but he does come off as the @sshole that you love to hate. So well done on that front.

Good story.

I liked this story but it was a little strange starting out. Had not heard of the Mija before but guess it was ok.
