A little boy and his grandma are baking a cake together. When the cake comes out of the oven and is decorated, it is not just any cake but a very special one!

Being a grandma, I loved this book. What a wonderful thing for a grandmother and her grandchild to do together. The vocabulary is great and the way the grandmother talks to her grandson will help to develop his vocabulary. This is exactly what I do with my grandson. The rhyming of cake, bake, shake develop another vocabulary skill. I loved the illustrations. They show the happiness and glee of both characters and make the story even more enjoyable. I liked the pages at the end that explain about developing vocabulary in young children and how to encourage it naturally. I will definitely be reading this one over again with my grandson and we will be making a cake. This book would make a great addition to any family library with young children.

This is a sweet story about a grandma and her grandson baking a cake. The text is simple with a good repetitive cadence. The book includes and cake recipe, and it would be fun to read this book with your child and then bake a cake together.

This is a great story for sequencing. The book goes through all the steps to baking a cake.
I wish it had more of a story, though.

A very simple story that walks kids through the cake-making process. The cake recipe at the end is a nice bonus, and enables families to enjoy their own "cake day."

It’s time to bake a cake. A little boy helps his grandmother in the kitchen. The story is a little repetitive, but then again so are two year olds. I think they would enjoy this story.
