About the author

Erika Rummel is a winner of the Random House Creative Writing Award, 2011. She is the author of more than a dozen non-fiction books (social history, biography, translation) and two novels. She grew up in Vienna and came to Canada where she obtained a doctorate in classics. She taught at Wilfrid Laurier University and at the University of Toronto. She now divides her time between Los Angeles and Toronto, and has lived in small villages in Argentina, Romania, and Bulgaria.
