Rebecca Trovatelli thought for sure she'd be in a better place when she reached her 30s. Yet here it is, her 33rd birthday, and she is only doing well at one thing: waiting. Waiting for her career to finally go in the direction she wants. Waiting for her children to finally listen to her. Waiting for the love of her life to realize he's ready to commit. In the meantime, she is haphazardly navigating the trenches at preschool, and trying to win over the mothers who seem so much better equipped to parent than she is. She is also making a conscious effort not to compare herself to her seemingly perfect friend whose life she mainly follows via a blog, and attempting to be happy for her ex-husband, by all outward appearances, has successfully moved on and started a new life.
Then Josh enters the picture. He's handsome and sweet. Her kids love him. Her parents approve. He takes her out and actually seems to want to be in an exclusive relationship. Suddenly, things are looking up for Rebecca, but by now she should know not to expect it to last for long. When things start to get complicated, Rebecca must reevaluate her life, her friends, and the choices she has made. And in doing so, she might just figure out what matters most.
Summer Felix was born Summer Ann Singagliese in July 1977 to a pair of hippies turned yuppies. After 12 years of trying to conceive, Summer’s mother went to study with the Maharishi and her new enlightenment with Transcendental Meditation was all that was needed to finally get pregnant with what would be her only child, Summer.
Summer grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles, and graduated from Pepperdine University with a degree in Communications and Creative Writing. She later received her Masters in Juggling Child Tantrums and Divorce.
Summer currently resides in San Diego California with her 8 year old techy wanna be surfer son, her 6 year old My Little Pony obsessed daughter who’s discovered lipstick makes her eyes pop, her 10 year old bonus son, 8 year old bonus daughter, 1 Dutch man and a hermit crab.
In your 30’s and here you are. You’re ex has moved on and making a life for himself.
The woman you follow on a blog as just “the best life”. Your kids..... You are waiting and waiting for life to change for the better for yourself.......
This is a hilarious, well-written, chick-lit novel about 33 year old Rebecca who among other things is waiting for her career to take off and waiting for the man she loves to be ready to commit. She has a hard time not comparing herself to her a friend (a blogger) who has such a seemingly perfect life (Ok, seriously, can't we all relate to this?). She was just sure that she would be in a better place by the time she reached her 30s. Rebecca faces her share of ups and downs but through it all, she comes to realize what's important and what matters most in life.
Summer Felix totally nailed the inner monologue that so many (read: ALL) women experience when stuck in a period of waiting. I found myself laughing out loud at times and I truly think this is a book that any woman would relate to. I look forward to reading more from Summer Felix, as I really enjoyed her writing style.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on an advanced copy, but this book will be released to the public on 7/23/13. It's available for pre-order now!
I really loved the main character, Rebecca. She’s likable, relatable, and is someone who I want to be friends with. To have to smokin’ hot men fighting over me wouldn’t be so bad either.
Summer’s voice while telling this story is perfect. She tells it through a lot of Rebecca’s inner dialogue, and it’s the dialogue we all think but don’t dare say out loud. Summer had me laughing throughout the story, and at the end, I still wanted the story to continue. And to me, that’s the sign of a great read.
Summer addresses issues that we all deal with: that one perfect friend we can’t help but compare ourselves to, doubt in ourselves and decisions we make, that “I’m not good enough” feeling we get when we get rejected in a relationship, trying to get back in shape, dealing with the kids while still trying to have some semblance of a life separate from them, and for some, dealing with divorce and trying to maintain a good relationship with the ex.
I really liked Summer’s voice and style. I can’t wait to read more of her!
I received this book through first reads in exchange for an honest review. I loved the main character, Rebecca. She's likable, relatable, and is someone who I want to be friends with. To have to smokin' hot men fighting over me wouldn't be so bad either.

I liked Summer's voice and style. I only wish the book as in chapters versus dated like a journal.
A light-hearted, relatable, quick and witty read that leaves you smiling at the end. Lost and ProFound is different from what I normally read, but I loved it all the same. If you're looking for a story that will make you laugh and think, "OH YEAH, I GET IT, GIRL!" then this is the book for you. I look forward to reading more by Summer Felix in the future!
