This is one of the books I could not put down. As soon as I started reading the characters pulled me in. Love, loss & starting over. Love can be the most wonderful feeling ever but it also has the power to destroy you. Damien was jaded by love. He wanted nothing to do with it.. Until that faithful day when he met Mylie. Mylie kind, loving but had never experienced love. It has always been her and her brother Nik. It was a love hate from the beginning but the attraction was undeniable. Nothing is ever what it seems. Deceit, love, hate and revenge threaten to keep Mylie and Damien apart.. Great main characters and supporting characters. Find out if love can conquer it all or destroy you forever. You will not be disappointed.. Make sure to bring your thinking detective hats because its much more than a love story.. Happy Reading!
Holy @$)(@*$)(#@!!! My brain just exploded! WHAT!? I am currently in a love/hate relationship with HP Landry for this mind-screw of a book. Wow! First of all Damien is mine. Don't even think about it. I will kill you. Next.. very well done! I love this book! Lots of drama and things to tick you off, then things that make you go "holy sh**, I wish my man would do that!" and a moment later you are like "Oh NO SHE DID NOT!" haha. The climax of the book had me literally grasping the corner of my chair and speaking to the book. I said "OMG NO!" and "Are you FREAKING KIDDING ME?" out loud. Yes, I'm serious. LOL
VERY WELL DONE, HP! I will happily read the next one. Asap. So get to work, mkay? Thanks. LOL
If you want in your face, gritty, intense drama, then this is the book for you. There are so many twists and turns in this novel, it'll leave you questioning everything. Suspenseful, raw, and packed with emotion, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat. Great debut novel by HP.
I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for a review. I honestly didn't know what to expect and I will honestly admit that I was unfamiliar with the author's work. (I know how the HELL did that happen?) But I was pleasantly surprised. WRECKED is the first in Ms. Landry's new series POINTE HOPE, and what a first it is. Although it's not a long read, it did take me 2 days to buzz through it. There's a whole lot going on in good ole Point Hope!
This sleepy little Pennsylvania town is a hot mess! It's filled with horny, sexy lunatics! And I loved every damn page! We meet a young Mylie and her toddler brother Nikolas on the road to their new lives with their parents. Only they don't get there...the prologue was beautifully heartrendingly written. I was in tears at the start and did worry that this was going to be a emotional roller coaster. It is, but not in a soul sucking way. No, Ms. Landry moves you in a good way.
"I believed that being in love wasn't about sunshine and daisies, but that love allowed someone to find the person who complemented them best."
I really believe that this quote sums up the heart of this story. Mylie and Nik have lived a life of tragedy, only to find love and friendship to help them cope. She still has hope and trust and this story is the tale of how both of these beliefs are tested. Like I said there are a ton of characters; hysterical besties that just make you laugh and gasp out loud. I so want girls like that in my corner! There are also a boatload of Hotties circling around Mylie; none hotter or more frustrating than Professor Damien James. The man gave me the urge to strangle him one minute and tackle him the next. Hot...way too hot and did I mention frustrating.
"You should go Mylie. You deserve someone like Thor." "But I don't want him." "Tell me what you want Mylie." "You."
"Mylie, please let me think that you are mine. I know you are going to go to him. I accepted it, but please let me pretend that you want me as much as I need you."
See...frustrating! These two go back and forth, push and pull and it made me crazy and MAD! The author clearly loves to stir you up and she does it well. Between all the love triangle drama, there's also attempted murder...kidnapping and all kinds of kinky behind the scene sex!!! This book was CRAZY...and it's only the first in the series! I admit it was on occasion a bit hard to follow, but none the less a really great read. Enough questions were answered to give us some sense of relief, but a boatload still remain.
"It's in those pivotal moments when there is no amount of denial that could ever prepare you to finally admit the truth. It is a truth that you've been trying to fight desperately not to believe."
I am desperately waiting for the next installment in this series. It's been 2 days since I put this story down and I have spent the better part of those 2 days churning the events of this story round and round in my head. It feels like I'm in a damn CSI show here...I must know what happens. More importantly...I really need to know more about the hotness that is Nik! Yum!!! And the besties, and the hot detective and well you see my problem. I thoroughly love a HEA, but a good suspense really gets my blood boiling.
WRECKED is the best of both worlds. It's a deviously delicious romantic suspense that leaves you wanting more. Go ahead...you know you want to...come on in and check out Point Hope. Just be careful and don't say I didn't warn you!
I'd been wanting to read this book since the cover was revealed as the cover is pretty unique and it drew me right in! I have to say though that I didn't really enjoy the story as much as I was expecting too! I did like it, but I didn't fall in love with it which is why I gave it four starts and not five! The plot of this book did confuse me at times! I felt like there was a lot going on and sometimes I had to really pay attention to make sure I didn't miss anything! The plot also started to confuse me as it progressed! I enjoyed it though! I wasn't expecting the plot to confuse me, but it did a little! It was written really well though! There were also some twists and turns to keep it interesting and to keep me wanting to find out what was going to happen next! Once I started to understand the plot I really enjoyed it! It was full of suspense and it kept me guessing! The characters were amazing as a whole, but the main female character did annoy me slightly! The main female character was Mylie and she infuriated me at certain points in this book! I didn't like that she sort of flirted with other guys when she was really in love with the one guy that infuriated her! She did eventually realise who she really loved, but it really annoyed me that she flirted with quite a few other guys! Apart from that I really liked Mylie! She went through quite a lot in this book and I felt really sorry for her! She was strong though and she held her head high during this book which made me admire her! Damien was the main male character and he was hot! I loved how protective he was of Mylie and how much he loved her! I could tell that he had genuine feelings for her as soon as he met her and to see those feelings develop was amazing! There was also quite a lot of sexual tension between Mylie and Damien in this book! I loved this as it made Mylie and Damien's relationship better and I really enjoyed it! This book was also written from both Mylie and Damien's point of views! This was definitely essential as there was quite a lot going on in the book and it was easier to understand it all through both characters point of views! The secondary characters in this book added a lot to the story! I enjoyed them and also what they all brought to the story! I thought that this book was a standalone when I first heard about it, but then I discovered that it's a series! I will definitely continue reading it and I'm looking forward to seeing where it's going to go next! As I said the cover is quite unique! I'm in love with it and I love how well it suits the book! Big thank you to H.P. Landry for a copy of Wrecked and to Girls Heart Books for having me on the Blog Tour!
Right from the start we're pulled into an emotional storm and you can feel for the characters. "I love...I love you both so much. Don't cry, Mommy will watch over you always." It's fun to always see the characters after something tragic happens, "I waited for Mr. Right, Nikolas was happy being Mr. Not Right Enough," Mhmm sly dog that boy is (winks) Mylie is a feisty little thing, can't blame her for what she's been through, "my parents died when I was 8 years old for your information, so no he didn't. I hope that answers your question, Jacka**!" You go girl, although I know why your giving the man sass, but he did just save your a** maybe show a little respect. Of course he kinda really is an a**, "you think it's funny? Disappearing like that and leaving me to explain to the cops why I knocked out a guy when the person I was protecting is gone? I could've gotten arrested for assault and batter! Are you always this selfish? Do you only think of yourself?" Actually you boob, she does think of her brother. So Nik being the good brother he is looks out for his sister, "what the hell has gotten into you Mylie? You're on top of one guy on the porch while you are on the verge of bumping uglies with another in the kitchen?" So this book is I guess a love triangle type thing but once I heard what Xavier had to say about Mylie I knew I was team Damien all the way, "apparently! But you never know. Either way, I want to bang her before I'm stuck with Adriana." Gross a** idiot! I was a little disappointed in the fact that there was a slight cliffhanger, but I did love all the twists and turns the book had it kept me on my toes and guessing.
Wow! I am very impressed with this debut novel by H.P Landry. It was really not what I expected. I was expecting a love story with some heart ache thrown in here and there. It was so, so much more. The beginning broke my heart....no children should have to go through that kind of pain. Things lighten up a bit as we move along in the story; as we get to know the characters. But then BAM! As the story moves along, there is twist after twist. H.P. Landry surprised me over and over with this twisted tale. People are not who they seem and Miley has to watch her back at all times. By the end of the book, I shed a few tears... Love can be very healing, but painful as well. I can't wait for H.P. Landry's next book!
Oh My God!!! That's all I can think of right now to describe how I feel about this book. One minute your mad, then your sad, then your horny, then your mad again! It's a complete mind f•ck of a book but I couldn't put it down. I read until my eyes couldn't stay open any longer. All I can say is "Bravo!" I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us!!
This book begins with an absolutely horrendous tragedy. One which seems to set the mood for the entire book. Mylie is a fabulous character, even though life has thrown her life into chaos, she still believes in happy ever after. She wants the kind of love her mother and father had.
Did I find the character believable, strangely yes I did. She was into her adulthood when the book picks up, and is still a virgin. Odd perhaps, unusual perhaps but as someone who remained a virgin long after other girls had given it to Mr Right Now, I can say that it isn't unheard of. For me he wasn't Mr. Happily Ever After, but hey I did believe in all that and strangely enough I still do and luckily the second time was my Happily Ever After.
Oops I rambled off topic there, let me pull this back in control before I ramble off into another direction yet again. Damien is HOT! I do mean Hot with a capital H! He has had a rough time and has decided he is NEVER going to fall in love again. HA like anyone has a choice in that!
From the moment those two meet, sparks literally flew! But in a perfect manner. The book IS a romance but unlike most romances they don't just meet, fall instantly in love and hop into bed. I loved this part of the book. It made it so much more than it would otherwise have been. Now the tension between these two starts Mylie down a path that well you will seriously need to read the book. But Damien thinking he's being all noble because he won't love pushes her away and into the arms of another man. Xavier Bane, and boy is he ever the bane of Mylies existence. The triangle that begins is just too much to handle.
Now all that aside this isn't just a romance. This is a mystery as well. I KNEW who the bad guy was but even suspecting that I wasn't sure what would happen. I HATED the sociopath that you read about in the blurb. And trust me he is SOOO much more than that! The twists and turns this book actually take will make your head spin and keep you flipping pages in a race against time to find out what happens between the three main characters and if Mylie survives the story! And some of the twists are just WOW!
The end of this book comes far too quickly for me. I wanted to know what happens, I wanted to know if they get their happy ever after. I wanted it to be a fabulous ending for Mylie and for her to be happy. Instead what I got was one heck of a cliffhanger.
My only negative about this book is that it ended! So that tells you right there how much I enjoyed the story. I for one do not handle long waits in between books, so I am hoping that the next book will be out yesterday. What? I told you I wasn't patient!
But seriously, go on out and buy this book it is well worth the small amount of money it costs! I give it 5 stars and can't wait to read more from this very talented author!
Details/Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for my honest review. This free book held no determination on my final review.
WOW, What an amazing read from the very first chapter I was engrossed . Wrecked had me hooked and for the first chapter it had me not completely Wrecked as to say but I was like NOOOOOOO !! Then onto the next Chapter and I was like what is this author doing to me haha and poor Mylie. Wrecked introduces us to the characters of Mylie and Nikolas who when they were young suffered a major tragedy. Now years later, it's just the two of them. One morning Mylie decides to go out running when she is stumbled upon by a nasty fellow, luckily she is saved by a guy who will later become known throughout the novel as "The Asshole" aka Professor Damian James. These two have that angry love/hate tension and we see as the novel progresses their up and down love/hate go on . This tension pushes Mylie into the arms of another guy Xavier Bane . She sees him as her destiny as he has the same name as her father. So begins for Mylie , a tumultuous relationship and a triangle of affections between Damian and Xavier. It seems though as the book goes along, someone is out to get Mylie and doesn't want her surviving and lucky for Mylie she has a guardian angel. Readers , this is one book that you will not be able to put down as you will not only want to see how the story pans out with the relationships but also to see whether Mylie survives to the very end. For those reading Wrecked, you may find yourself in spots a tad confuffled but keep reading as it will make all the sense in the world once you have finished and also if you don't finish the book, you will regret it as when I finished I was like "A-HA" and am glad I finished it as now I can't wait to read more of the series to come and get to know the characters through and through as I loved all their quirks and thought that each one was represented so well in the book. So readers, just to add a lil' extra , not only is the writer an amazing well --- writer of Wrecked, she also designed the cover through her company Bookfabulous Designs.
I enjoyed reading Wrecked....I read a majority of it in one night - I was that hooked. The story was twisted and unique which made it very interesting. Mylie is a college student studying to become a law professor and waiting for Mr. Right. Damien is a law professor who believes he can't love after being hurt by his last girlfriend. Mylie lives in her grandparents house with her younger brother and has for the last seventeen years after seeing their parents die in a car accident. Damien saves Mylie from being raped and then makes one stupid comment or does something stupid and ends up pushing her into the arms of a psychopath. They both admit to themselves that the love the other but can't admit it to each other....although EVERYONE sees it! Can Damien save Mylie from the psychopath in time? Will they ever admit to one another that they love the other one??
The only thing I did not like about this book was that there were times when I couldn't figure out who was talking because there were too many characters involved and no "so and so said...." or "....said so and so" . Other than that I really enjoyed this book (after getting past the normal ARC editing mistakes LOL) One of the main reasons I enjoyed this book was because of the fact that it was so twisted and not your typical romance! For a debut novel H.P. Landry did an amazing job!
My mind has officially been toyed with! LOL This entire book had me questioning everything! There were so many twists and turns, you didn't know where you would get hit next! It has been DAYS since I read this, and it's STILL in my head!
When I first started reading it, I was expecting one type of story, but then BAM! Hit with even MORE than what I was expecting! She threw me for a loop and smacked me around with this book!
Oh, and to the crazy (still love her!) reviewer who said Damien was hers...I challenge her to a duel! LOL Okay, so initially I hated him. LOATHED him. I wanted to call him a douche canoe and move on, lol. But by the end, I was swooning. I won't even lie, lol.
Do I recommend you read this?!? HELL YES! It's a mind screw of epic proportions! You'll hit the end and wonder WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE!?!? Hee hee...I know that answer, but I won't tell you. :P Okay, so that is all I shall tell right now. I don't do the whole rehashing of a story.
I just calls it like I sees it :P But yeah, blown away by this book. Absolutely loved it! Can't wait for more from this author!
Wow. This is an amazing read. I can't even begin to explain why. From the prologue (which throws you in head first) to the ending, you're sucked in.
This is the story of Mylie and Damian. It's about real people with real demons. It's not your average happily ever after, but I wouldn't call it an anti-happily ever after either. It's about two people who are lust with each other but don't necessarily like each other to begin with.
And, it's not just a love story. One of the things I love about this novel is that it stands apart from other love stories. You see more about the things behind the scenes and meet some really ugly people, as well as some beautiful ones.
I know a few people who read the novel will read the beginning and then think what the hell as it goes in a different direction, but all I can say is keep reading the novel and everything will make sense. The ending will grip you as much as the beginning does.
A brilliant debut from an amazing author.
H.P Landry is definitely an author to look out for. Her writing is clean, crisp and a pleasure to read. And, after reading the epilogue, I can't wait for the second book in the series.
Mylie Mier lost her parents in a car accident when she was 8 years old, 15 years ago.
One day while she was running, she saw a trapped rabbit and tried to help him. But then a man yelled at her and attacked her.
That´s when they met. Damien saved her from the attacker.
They were instantly attracted to each other.
Damien James is a hot professor who has been through a rough time and he doesn´t want to fell in love again.
She´s also been through a lot, but she never gave up on love.
He knows that he wants her. That´s why he pushes her away. But the bad thing about pushing her away is that he pushed her straight into the arms of a sociopath.
The book is full with intense drama, twist and turns. It will play with your mind and keep you on the edge till the end.
Loved it. It´s a must read.

>>>ARC received in exchange for an honest review<<<
4 1/2 Stars!! This was a very good book to read. I can honestly say I did not want to put it down. I did not want it to end, but alas, all good things come to an end. My only problem with the book was the loose end not tied up. Maybe that could be used for another book, hmmmm. I can honestly say the main characters caught me off guard. Mylie is that sweet girl next door type, but she's tough too. She's been through a lot, and still believes in true love. Damien is such a jerk at first, but then we find out the reasons why. It's understandable. They have an instant attraction that they both fight so hard. I loved Mylie's friends how they were there for her through anything. I completely loved the end of this book. I will be on the lookout for more from H.P. Landr y, and keep an eye out for more in this possible series.
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This book opens with an emotion packed scene of the car accident that not only took Miley's parents from her, but also took my breath away and made me cry right out of the gate. Powerful and beautifully descriptive, emotion-packed writing! Then as the story takes off you have NO idea all the twists and turns....the suspense and drama (and steam!) that lies ahead. This one took several unexpected turns along the way and keeps you guessing, wanting more and turning page after page right up to the end. H.P. Landry is a very gifted writer and an up an coming talent whose work I look forward to reading more of. Will Miley and Damien have their 'ever after'? You'll have to read it to find out....and more! Wonderful book, H.P. and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!!
Wrecked was a very interesting and intriguing read. Definitely kept you on your toes and wanting to read more. It reminded me a lot of Nina D'Angelo's Stephanie Carovella series. It had a good mix of mystery, suspense and romance. The one negative I will say is that it left me confused at times. I would start a chapter and not remember what had taken place right before it and at times I was confused by what was going on and had to look back to see if I missed something. And sometimes with characters thinking about the past I wasn't quite sure when it got back to the present. But besides those few instances of being confused I thought it was really good and am definitely interested to read about Malory's story.
I was instantly drawn from page one. The tragic accident of Mylie’s parents drew me to the story. It had me in tears. Then we see Mylie all grown up. I really liked her character. She was intelligent, had a good heart, and independent. I also enjoyed the chemistry between Mylie and Damien. Though there was an instant connection, there were twists and turns that made the story something I had not expected. And this was a good thing. I never saw that coming. Mystery, romance, hot men, and great friends…what is there not to love? If you are looking for a great escape…dive into Wrecked.
Okay, when I joined this blog tour I thought this book was going to be much different than what the book really was.
This book is AMAZING! No joke! HP Landry sucks you in because with each turn of the page more and more questions pop up. I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean it in a good way.
There are some serious twist and turns in this book and I loved everyone of them. Mylie is an awesome character. She is a very related character. Then there is Damien ... oh Damien .. oh Damien.. *fans self* ... I really love him.
MY REVIEW I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF READING THIS BOOK AND WOW WHAT A GREAT BOOK. RIGHT FROM THE START I WAS GRIPPED. THIS STORY HAS YOU GO THROUGH SO MANY EMOTIONS ITS UNBELIEVABLE. A STORYLINE THAT LEAVES YOU WITH A ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS . WHILST READING THIS BOOK YOU FIND YOURSELF SHOUTING OUT LIKE YOU WOULD AT A TV PROGRAM. THIS BOOK SHOWS YOU THAT THE COURSE OF TRUE LOVE DEFINITELY NEVER DOES RUN SMOOTHLY.
What can I say about Wrecked? This book. This book gave me heart palpitations. I loved it, I hated it, I loved to hate it. There where times I wanted to throw my kindle and there were times I wanted to hug it like a person. This was a raw and emotional book. Everyone has their demons and no one is perfect and H.P. Landry let us know that. This book is an emotional roller coaster that you wish will never end.
Yes, I finished this book in one day. Well, it didn't even take me a entire day. I started it at around 9pm and was finished before 1am. I truly enjoyed it and I was sucked right in and had to know what was going to happen next. I just couldn't put it down. I will surely be lazy today because of this, but it was well worth it. ;)
I got a chapter in, and I'm throwing in the towel!Ummmm... Seriously?! Getting raped by the homeless dude would have been, and I quote, worse than death.... Then I don't care how big a dick your savior was!!! And then the bro is mad about the attempted rape, but is livid about the guy being a dick?! Wth! Once again I've been lied to by the goodreads ratings!!! I used to trust you good reads!
I have such mixed emotions about this book! The prologue was heart wrenching!! After the scene the brother busted into her room, I couldn't stay focused. I thought it was disgusting, immoral & creepy! That could've been left out! Other than that I loved it! Raw real emotion!
Wrecked by (The Pointe Hope series) by H.P. Landry 4.5 Stars
Truly great story!! This books name is very appropriate!! The train wreck that is Mylie's life is something that is scary yet exciting. The on again off again of finding her one true love was something of a tragic jaded mess. Enjoy the ride!
This story starts off with a heart wrenching view into Mylie's Mier's life. Her life is full of tragedy and heartbreak. She is holding out hope in finding her one true love and never settling for. Mr. Right Now. That is until she meets Damien James.
Damien James was out for a run one morning & came across a predator attempting to defile a helpless victim. Mylie's enters his life and changes everything he was avoiding while smashing him like a freight train.
Their connection is instant but Damien is jaded refuses to acknowledge his attraction. Though Mylie's is mesmerized by Damien, she quickly realizes he is a pretentious jerk. Fighting their obvious connection pushy Mylie's into the arms of a sociopath.
Will Mylie's ever experience her happily ever after or will Damien 's actions force her to live a life that will leave her wrecked?
It's never too late in finding your happily ever after..... Damien James
I was excited to read two of my favorite Rhonda Dennis Characters towards the end of this book. My hands were up in the air with happiness as I read that part of the story. LOL. Yes, huge Green Bayou fan here!! She pimped Wrecked on her FB page & that's what made me buy it. So glad I did!! I like this book it is beautifully scary. It takes your heart for a crazy ride one I wanted to get off at times when I just wanted to choke Xavier. I love books like this you love hard for these characters while hating & wanting to hurt the jerk faces of the ones you don't like at all. It makes for a perfectly balanced & truly great story. I really love Damien & Mylie but I'd have to say I really fell in love with Malory. When she jumped on top of that doctor & let him have it. I was so proud after the hurtful names & filth coming out of that jerks mouth. That was awesome!!<3 I recommend this book. I just don't think you can go wrong with this one!!!
Wow at first I didn't care for this. .but then it started to get very interesting, and couldn't stop reading it..Very emotional and sad and kept me in tense..Loved it!!!
