So he has no business dreaming about her, lusting over her, kissing her…
Warning: Contains BDSM, spanking and elements of domestic discipline.
Laylah loves reading, but she particularly loves a good romance with some seriously alpha men. Protective, possessive men with large hearts. Writing has become her passion and she hopes her readers enjoy her stories as much as she does writing them.
Her Old-fashioned Love is the final installment in Laylah Roberts Old-fashioned series. In it she chronicles the romantic journey of Holly Lanthram and Brax Jamieson. Both are emotionally wounded. She by her ex-husband, and he by his ex-girlfriend. Holly is the personal assistant to Derrick, who happens to be her brother-in-law. Derrick took care of her when she was abandoned by his brother after an automobile accident that left one leg mangled. Brax is the youngest Jameison sibling. He has his own construction company with two friends. Brax has an arch enemy, Mason Phillips. Derrick contracts Brax to build his resort. Phillips in partnership with Jones, a rival construction company, plot to ruin Brax. Holly is left to oversee their company’s project. Will Brax and Holly overcome their emotional difficulties to find happiness? Will Holly and Brax keep Phillips and Jones at bay? To find out, you must read this book.
Ms. Roberts does a remarkable job with this old-fashioned romance. The lead characters are multi-dimensional. Their dialog is outstanding. Their internal monologues reveal their inner emotional turmoil. With her use of descriptive language Ms. Roberts. she paints vibrant scenes that build suspense with the sabotage efforts of the antagonists thus makes the reader feel like they are right there. Nicely done, Ms. Roberts.
I love this series… Brax is the youngest of the brothers but he seems to be the hardest on himself. With their parents dying so young and the oldest brother Heath having to raise them they each came out with their own scars. Brax has a 5 year plan. He wants his new business to get off the ground and to be financially set before having the big house and perfect wife and kids. Well best laid plans and all that…
Holly Latham had a string of bad luck. Her husband who had been cheating on her for all of their marriage left her while she was in the hospital after a horrific car accident that left her needing a lot of physical therapy and with a permanent bad leg. The only person that stood by her and helped her both with therapy and a job and place to live was her ex brother in law. When Derrick decides he is going to build a resort,he and Holly go to interview contractors. One of those contractors is Brax and to say that the sparks flew between him and Holly right away is an understatement.
But alas she’s not in Brax’s 5 year plan and she has a few insecurity issues herself. So let the angst begin. It doesn’t take long for the Dom in Brax to rear its head with the way Holly takes care of herself. She over does it and pushes her leg too far to the point of pain and collapse and when she decides she is going to help out with the threats to Brax and his company have been getting, well we all know where that lands her.
I really liked Brax and Holly from the start. The author does a great job of making you care about her characters from the start even if they are a bit stubborn and old fashioned (grin)
I hope the author continues with this series cause Derrick really needs a story..
What a wonderful story this was to read. I absolutely loved Hollys character and i also really liked Brax, the youngest of his family, but after his last relationship and his controling issues, he went overboard with the women he came to love. Holly has been sent to overlook the construction, however when she first met Brax it was instant attraction, now she is back and he is certainly going overboard in telling her what to do. Despite how they feel for each other Brax is determind to only be friends. Someone is going to get hurt because along with whats happening with the two of them theres problems at the sight. It seems that someone is trying to shut down the site. Can their be a HEA with the two of them and can they find out who is out to destroy the Construction? Another must read in this series.
Brax and Holly Holly—I absolutely love her. Her ex-husband was such a douche that even his own brother took her side when she divorced him. Derrick stepped in as her older brother figure, and I’m so glad he did. He was a huge part of her healing after a devastating car crash that left her with physical scars.
Then there’s Brax and his infamous five-year plan. Brax had clear goals, and finding a woman or settling down wasn’t anywhere near the top of his list. Unfortunately, this led him to push Holly away more than once, and when she finally had enough, he was left reeling from the loss.
I loved watching Brax come to the realization that he has nothing to prove to anyone and that love isn’t something you can plan—it just happens. Their story was heartwarming and such a joy to read!
Holly was an absolute spitfire. She was much more forceful than the wives of the other brothers. But also craved the dominance that Brax had to offer. Brax acted like a meatball though, he hurt her feelings so many times which hurt my heart. He made things right in the end but none of us liked the flip flopping. They made things work in the end. It would have been nice to have an update on Matt and how things were not working out well for Im but otherwise it was a great read.
Another steamy one, this the final brother the youngest one of them all who was desperate for love and a family of his own just like his siblings had. I loved the heroine in this one, well I loved them all but Holly was strong and feisty after going through such turmoil in her life, she didn’t give in easy but accepted how things were and the love they found with each other. Absolutely loved this series! Thanks Laylah for bringing such a well written story to life.
Loved this!! Holly and Brax have that Instant attraction. Ms. Roberts is so good at writing about these old fashioned men. We need more of these guys in the world today! Needless to say, the sparks are off the charts with these two. Danger is lurking around the corner.love, lust and enough steam you’d think you were at the spa. I can’t recover this book highly enough! If you like hot, old fashioned men? Read this book to have a great time and the cherry on top? A wonderful HEA.
I just adored Holly. She really has gumption and strength. She overcame her cheating husband and a terrible accident. She is more than enough for Brax. And he has so many self inflicted boundaries that it is funny in a way. I loved reading about the journey these two characters took. Looking forward to Derrick’s story.
Brax , is just like his brothers, he wants someone to love, cherish, protect, etc...but his five year mind set plan is getting in the way. Holly sneaks in under his rader, she is a free spirit but looking for someone. Can he let go of his plan and is she willing to be what he needs?
Brax finally finds his woman. Now all the Jamison siblings are married. Holly had her Brother in law as her strong support system, since his younger brother didn't know how to be a real man, and husband. Brax fell for her right away, but had his 5 year plan , that made him try to keep a distance. It didn't work. Wonderful HEA ending. Trish. A.
The whole series was great BUT it needs better editing. It's in Texas but a lot of the saying seem British. Words are missing or wrong. You'll enjoy them just be ready to read corrections into it
Wounds may never fully disappear but will the damage heal enough to allow for a positive future? When Holly meets Brax, her heart started beating again with hope. Will his 5-year plan derail the relationship before it even gets started?
His Old-Fashioned Love by Laylah Roberts – This series is on kindle unlimited. And I really want more books in this series! Which is not a surprise because I want more Laylah Roberts books in ever series she writes lol. There is a wild hair of a twist at the end! Happy Reading!
As with any Laylah Roberts book, craftsmanship as an author is obvious - character development, plots with unexpected twists and turns and always HEA! Thanks for another great story - now to find Derrick’s story! Any hints?
Yay I'm so happy for brax to finally get his happy ending. Tho he was a complete idiot at first. I'm glad everything worked out. I loved this book I would definitely recommend.
This is the sweetest book!! Holly and Brax meet as work colleagues but the instant attraction surprises them both. Brax had a plan for his life and hadn’t been prepared for the sweet and sassy woman who stole his heart. So good!
This story was everything I’d hoped it would be and more. I’m so glad that this series is around. It’s nice to see different, sex positive romances supported and shared. I’m a huge fan of this author!
Good characters throughout the series. Each individual story is filled with a bit of mystery and intrigue, pain and healing, passion and steam. Spanking included. Enjoy
You need to read the rest of the series to know all the players but honestly this is the best story in the whole series. It has the most story line, depth of characters and the most suspense. If you only read one book in this series, read this one!
Beautiful love story between 2 people who have been hurt, and experienced trauma in different ways, especially her, who lives in daily pain but still smiles, works, embraces life
What a wonderful fifth book in this series I loved how Brax really realized that he had pushed the perfect woman for him away and set about getting her back
