Chad’s a professional chuckwagon driver. Sierra’s an executive chef. Things are heating up, and not in the kitchen...
Chad Parker is balancing the operation of the cattle and horse ranch he inherited from his late father with racing on the WPCA pro chuckwagon circuit, including the upcoming Rangeland Derby at the Calgary Stampede. If that weren’t enough headaches for one guy, once again another cook has quit due to Chad’s mother’s insufferable criticism. But Sierra Griffin, an unemployed executive chef, enters his life at just the right moment. Sierra is the answer to his prayers, but can Chad keep the peace between his new cook and his mother, whom he banished from her own kitchen?
Sierra Griffin willingly accepts the handsome cowboy’s job offer while she pursues a position more suited to her qualifications with Chad’s blessing. But Sierra soon discovers she loves cooking for cowboys, especially the guy who sits at the head of the table. Things start heating up between Sierra and Chad, and not in the kitchen.
Just when Chad believes he has the situation under control, he learns that Sierra has found her dream job. Now what will he do? Hiring another cook is the least of his worries. Does the woman he’s falling in love with intend to move out of his life as quickly as she slipped into it?

Cooking for Cowboy was one of those quick reads that's nice but not all that developed. This was my first by Sinclair and I was honestly surprised it was her 7th or 8th book and not a debut. It comes off that way. It's not bad. But it could use fleshing out and more development in storyline and characters.
The Gist: A car crash...leads to Sierra getting a new cooking gig. Oh yes. Instead of dealing with a wanker of a boss who's a little handsy she'll now be cooking for a whole herd of cowboys out on a fancy ranch. Best car crash ever.
I liked Sierra and Chad. They're fairly easy to like. She's a confident chef, he's a confident cowboy who runs an award winning chuckwagon team. And that's about all I have to say about them, unfortunately. There was nothing really wrong with them but nothing really much at all either.
Their romance was a little randomly thrown in. You don't see much development with it other than them being normal and then all the sudden them being all over each other and down each others pants. I could see sparks of them being a good team and I liked them together but writing-wise the transitions just weren't quite right.
I did think the chuckwagon aspect was interesting. You don't see that too often in romance. So that was fun. And getting to see the guys out training and competing. I wish we'd seen as much of Sierra actually cooking.
Overall, it needed a bit more to make it a solid read. It wasn't bad and was an entertaining enough bit of time spent but it definitely could have used a bit more development, depth and fleshing out.
Sierra and Chad were a great couple and this was a great story. It is a shorter story it can be read in a couple hours, but it is well worth your time. It is a story of a chef who loses her job and get one as a cook on a ranch until she finds a new job. It is a city girl and country boy and it heats up. Worth the time to read
Cooking for Cowboy is part of the Stampede Sizzlers series. A Canadian girl myself, and a sucker for all things cowboy, a cowboy series set in my native land appealed to me, so thought I'd check it out.
This is the story of Chad and Sierra. After they meet "accidentally" (she rams into his truck one night!) he convinces her to come and work for him as he needs a chef for his ranch. Being recently out of work, Sierra agrees...and the romance develops (pretty predictably) from there. I thought this was a sweet, if somewhat bland story. Not that I didn't enjoy reading it - I did. The author has a nice clean style and the plot flowed well. Chad and Sierra were both very likeable characters. I'd say that Chad is probably your typical Canadian guy - polite, considerate and thoughtful - not a bad boy at all. The kind of guy all fathers want for their daughters! While certainly attracted to this "type" in RL, I tend to like a bit rougher cowboy in my fantasy/book life...probably why I found this a bit bland. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the read and would read something else by this author in the future.
I really liked this story...it was sweet and I enjoyed reading it. I was leery considering the star rating but I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. At first Chad's mom was irritating and looked to be an obvious problem... Chand was likable from the beginning so was Sierra and their chemistry was off the charts at first glance. Granted most people don't care for the insta love but this one was well written and didn't feel rushed even though it was a short story. I did however see one thing that was worng and that was a name was wrong in one of the chapter's. It confused me for about a minute then I realized it was supposed to be Sierra's name and not Celia.
I was happy this book actually got me...I was totally expecting Chad's mom to be the bad guy in this story and even though she was for a little bit I did NOT see what happened in the restaurant coming at all. If you're looking for a short read and like cowboys and romance then you will more than likely love this book.
Cooking For Cowboy is a romantic contemporary about a ranch owner who is in need of a cook after his wheelchair bound mother ran off the last 4 and an out of work chef. A car accident brings them to each other's attention and from there, our heroine finds herself accepting a job offer.
Not a bad story but extremely predictable. The romance is reveals itself quickly with not much fan fare or evolution. We see the lust but not the love. The conflict resolves itself in a few pages towards the middle and I really felt the story couldn't decide what it wanted to be. The book carries a distinct Christian romance tone that conflicts with some of the racier moments. The story revolves almost completely ard the h/h and not much background is given to the external factors.
I am giving this a 2 not for the romantic pov but for the unique view point of chuck wagon racing. I had heard of it but no idea what it was. I think the book gave a research person aspect of it. I learned a lot about chuck wagon racing which was interesting and then read up on it further. I am big into animal rights so it caught my eye.
However, Chad and Sierra were like meh. The mother was actually better developed then there romance. I can read "clean" book to erotica. In some ways this the sex was very distasteful to me. It was so much worse to me that it appeared as very non emotional sex. I any emotional piece between the h and the h, until the last 10%.
I truly feel the Heroine had a better relationship with the Mom then the son.
I’ve read a few of Sinclair’s stories. I always enjoy the tales she weaves. Cooking for Cowboy was no exception. Steamy and erotic with plenty of love thrown in; it gave glimpses of the world of an executive chef, a rancher and rodeo life. Sinclair brings the characters emotions to the forefront through their actions and reactions. She makes you feel for them. This isn’t just sex, it is romance. I adore reading erotica, but I am not a fan of a lot of the kinkier stories. Sinclair gives us a fabulous love story that is steamy, romantic and realistic without the dark side of kink. Just good wholesome steam and love! Hot. Hot. Hot!
The story was pretty simple, not a lot of drama or crazy stuff. The characters were realistic and likable. He appeared to be a genuinely nice guy, and of course, too-die-for handsome. She was independent but not bossy and pushy. Not a lot of romance but plenty of hot, steamy sex in various locations around the house.
I only gave it three stars because the ending was so abrupt. There were no problems or issues that needed to be worked through so it just ended. Almost in the middle of a sentence.
Executive chef falls in love with a rancher cowboy when destiny throw them together on his ranch for a few weeks while she searches for a new job. There is also a nasty neighbor and a mother living with MS which the chef has experience taking care of her grandmother when she was little. 200ish pages and a kindle freebie 2 solid stars for cute contemporary romance but nothing original except for a glimpse into the unknown world of stagecoach racing.
Started off fairly well, then flattened out. Dialogue, backstory, telling instead of showing and unbelievable actions and emotional responses all pretty much interrupted the story. The setting and the Calgary Stampede were interesting back drops.
There is just something about a book with a hot cowboy on the cover. Yum! I really enjoyed this book. It was an overall light and fun read. Seeing Sierra break through Chad's mother's stubborn and hard shell was a highlight, but of course the cowboys were the best part.
Great story! Loved the sexy cowboy Chad Parker. Loved all the other characters too. The ending was sweet. But would love to have the ending end with their marriage and babies too. :D
