In “Meter of Deception” Wolfgang Schimanski leads the reader into the dark underbelly of the Toronto crime world. From the criminal owner of Club Foxy Fire, Boris Brotzky, to the corruption within the police force and judicial system, the author takes us on a roller coaster ride never knowing where the next drop might come. From the day sexy Jon-Erik meets stripper Angel the die is cast. Angel is more than just a stripper with martial arts skills that will do her and her friends a lot of good as the story unfolds. Along with Jon-Erik’s buddy Joey and Angel’s friend and fellow stripper Tina the quartet must navigate the seedy paths of crime in order to escape death. With the assistance of two honest cops they are able to find safety if only for a little while. But with a high placed judge and several members of the police force eager to prevent them from sharing their knowledge of the criminal activities emanating from Club Foxy Fire the challenge to stay alive is formidable. Woven throughout is the dark and frightening figure of Mikhail, hired by Brotzky to eliminate the threat to his small empire. Mikhail can attack silently at any moment and is relentless in his pursuit of the four fleeing friends. With unexpected twists and turns that had me holding my breath the book was a non-stop thrill ride. Without adding a spoiler I have to say I did not see some of these surprises coming. It kept me up turning pages all night with plenty of action and enough sexy moments to hold my interest. By the time I reached the end I was hoping to read more about the adventures of these characters.

How far does the corruption go? All the way up, or down, depending on your perspective. The story follows two young couples as they struggle to stay one step ahead of the despicable Boris Brotsky, owner of strip joint, Club Foxy Fire. Turns out the four know something they shouldn't, and Boris sends his personal hitman, Mikhail, to take care of them.

But that's just the beginning. Meter of Deception twists and turns, sending you an an adventure through Toronto to Argentina and back again. Nobody is as they seem, and just when you think you have things figured out, Mr. Schimanski surprises you with something else.

But my favorite part of Meter of Deception is Mikhail, the Russian nightmare. He's the ninja Darth Vader, and deserves his own story. He's so fun. I love him.

I would definitely recommend this story to anyone looking for a high-octane thriller. Just like Mikhail, it's a package of dangerous fun.

Meter of Deception Took Me to A New World

I’ll be the first to admit that the world of strippers and the men who pursue them is not my thing. However, Wolf not only took me there but got me to develop feelings of empathy and understanding. To me that is the mark of a good story teller.

From your first step into Club Foxy Fire, the author takes you on a rapid ride into the underworld of Toronto. It is cram full of descriptions and all the nuances of real relationships which creates a sense of danger that is even more thrilling.

This novel will satisfy your need for a thrilling read from beginning to end
