Keira Merlin's father is in trouble. He told her that in a dream. He has an artifact that others want; evil people, who will stop at nothing to own it. Keira knows where her father hides, deep in a mountain's forest, but she needs help to reach him. She needs Jake Stanton.

FBI agent Jake Stanton is a wanted man. He is wanted by the same individuals who search for Keira's father, Silvanus Merlin, his partner in a previous case, and the man who once saved his life.

Together, Stanton and Keira will journey to a place dark and dangerous, a place where an amazing discovery awaits and a secret that may change the world as we know it.

Keira hasn’t seen her father since the Red Moon case but they communicate regularly through dreams. Merlin is in danger and wants Keira to find Jake and ask for his help.

The danger involves an artefact Keira uncovered at a dig in Egypt. An artefact that could, and probably would, catastrophically change the world if it fell into the wrong hands. Even as Keira and Jake race to find Merlin, men with evil on their minds are on Merlin’s trail and they will stop at nothing to get what they want.

From a cave deep in the forests of the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina to the heat and dust of Egypt, a trip undertaken by extraordinarily unconventional means, a very descriptive tale of adventure, action and mystery, with a sci-fi twist, pulled me along on a tide of suspense. Whatever thought I had of what was about to happen was turned on it’s head as something completely different transpired.

Great character development, and especially interesting is getting a little more of Merlin’s backstory and a slight insight into his amazing powers.

I love how Randy Mixter stretches the bounds of possibility, in different ways in each novel, and compels the reader to consider unimagined concepts. The quote in the front of the book is very apt.

‘The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious’ ~ Albert Einstein

The epilogue is bittersweet. Will Jake and Emma meet again? I hope so.

This is a book which has a bit of everything in it, there is action and adventure, a little bit of romance, a touch of science fiction and fantasy, so it should appeal to a broad cross section. It also manages to not tie itself up in knots despite all of these different aspects. The author even managed to mention his previous book which introduces Jake Stanton, and also his novella. As I enjoyed this book I might also see if I can locate either of the others in the series.

I read Sorcerer in one sitting. I loved the interplay between Jake and Keira. I also enjoyed not knowing what would happen next. Sorcerer is an excellent adventure novel, well written and fast moving. One thing I like about this writer is the lack of curse words and offensive adult situations. There is some violence, but it's not over the top, more like Indiana Jones. Another great book from this author.

"Sorcerer" is an entertaining paranormal mystery/thriller. I can recommend it to those who enjoy an easy fast read.

Is there such a thing as a Sorcerer!? Is Merlin one?

An artifact is found in Egypt! What does it do? This little item can do much ! What would people give or do to have this!

It has it good points, just not enough of them. It is the first book I've read where the author doesn't confide to his readers just what is going to happen. He would have the characters talk about what their plans were, then out of the blue, everything is ignored and something totally different happens, and you know they meticulously planned it all out that way....just didn't bother to let us, the readers, know what was happening. The relationship between Kiera & Jake was very weird too. She was constantly chasing him and he was on again, off again interested, not interested in her advances. The ending was quite abrupt, like the author didn't know just how to end it, so just stopped. If this is Randy's style of writing, I have no interest in reading any more of his books. I read this on my Kindle app on my smartphone.

Sorcerer
by Randy Mixter

A Slap In The Face!

One of my favorite tactics from Randy Mixter is his ability to seize his reader right from the start! The book, Sorcerer, is my first read of A Jake Stanton Adventure. The slap in my face, ‘er Jake’s face had me off to a running start! From then on Randy Mixter had me hooked on the main character, Jake Stanton. Jake is a FBI Agent, who is summoned to aid Keira to rescue Keira’s father, the Sorcerer. The Sorcerer has gone into hiding to protect a unique piece of artifact from some wicked men with pure evil intentions.
Randy Mixter cleverly applies sorcery, sci-fi, action, mystery and romance into one book of a rushing adventure!
I look forward to more adventures of Jake Stanton and so will you

I felt like I was reading a first draft, not a final ready-to-publish copy. There might be a decent story in here somewhere, but I couldn't find it in the mess, even though I read all of it and looked really hard.

Missing and misplaced punctuation. Lines cut off early. Copious spelling errors. Midscene POV shifts. It's just a sloppy mess.

Then add to that bad guy POV scenes, which I generally don't like.

A great action/adventure book. No bad language or gory violence. Sorcerer reads like an Indiana Jones adventure, but with a sci-fi twist. Another winner from this author.

I would have liked to see a little more depth to the characters as well as some complexity.
