The "Brinley Knight from MI5" series has all the ingredients to keep readers enthralled from the first pages to last. Epic in scope, these books are hard to put down.”
... Alexa Kang, USA. Today Bestselling author of the “Rose of Anzio series.”

Jana Petken follows her International #1 Bestsellers, “The Man from Section Five” and “The Dying Peace” with “For King and Country,” book 3 in the Man from Section Five series.

As Hitler prepares to invade Poland, an underfunded MI5 struggles to contain the German and Russian spies who are flocking to England to recruit sympathetic British agents. The section’s biggest challenge, however, lies with fascist aristocrats and several Parliament MPs who support Nazi Germany’s foreign policy and its leader Adolf Hitler. Some of them, including Sir Oswald Mosley, are planning for a revolution if Prime Minister Chamberlain declares war on the Third Reich.

“Jana Petken has solidly researched and plotted a suspenseful story that is both believable and fascinating.”

“For King and Country is a spy thriller that will pull readers in and hold them by the throat from the first page to the last.”

Book 3 of The Man from MI5 is a much more satisfying read compared to Book 2. It provides plenty of plot twist that is seemingly the characteristic of the series. It doesn't tie up all loose ends but I can't help thinking that should I decide not to continue with the series, this would be the most natural stopping point that would leave me satisfied probably even more than the ending depending on how it goes especially considering how non-reluctant the author is to kill loved character.

Now why would I want to stop reading a series that so far has given me a new appreciation for a spy thriller genre? One recurring problem with the series that is continued in this book is the number of typos. I might be more sensitive than most with this type of defects but it does decrease my enjoyment of reading the book. It's like knowing that your luxury car has a dent in an unseen place. People doesn't know it's there but you know it. In fact, had it not been the recurring typos, this book probably deserve a five star rating considering how neatly the story is tied up halfway through the series.

This book/series is suberb

These books are fast paced as I am sure it was right before war declared and the first few days. The characters are wonderful and it appears Jana has done her homework on all of this. I highly recommend this series and cannot wait until next book is out.

British intelligence vs German spies

Suspensful follow-up to the two previous books in this series. Conspiracies abound. The main settings are London, Germany & Paris. The characters are well developed & you feel as if you are there with them. I learned more about British politics & all of the factions competing for leadership just prior to the beginning of WW2.

I love historical fiction with special fondness for the WW II era. This series is delightful, intriguing, and very on point with what actually happened. I’m now reading the 4th book in the series and look forward to how the characters come together. Of course, I know how much of it will end but to read all the dynamics as history unfolds is quite satisfying. I highly recommend.

An interesting series to get into. Found this one a tad slow in the first half and then could not put it down. Brin is getting into deep waters in this book . The BUA is collapsing and WW11 has begun. The characters are well scripted and each has their own strengths in the plot. Onto the next book now.

Excellent historical fiction

Enjoy a trip into pre WII England and Europe, as Britain’s fledgling MI5 is shaped into an intricate spy network fill3d with colorful characters with clever character arches. A satisfying read.

Outstanding reading.

Outstanding reading. I was surprised at some people involved and what happened to them. Although I was glad when some of the people were disposed of permanently.

Enjoyed this story. Rated 4 stars rather than 5 because of the atrocious spelling and grammar - who neglected to proofread both this book and the 2nd in the series? Maddening.

Great series set in (up till now) pre WW2 Britain. War has just started.
Historical background is very interesting.
Would have had a 5 rating but for the apalling lack of proofreading, the run on sentences and occasional language that could not have been standard before the 1970s.

Too many pages of miniscule value

This story is beginning to get a bit long in the tooth. Not a whole lot was accomplished in this book other than the death of Gerhard Kessler. I'm losing patience with these serial books.
