Dr. Robert Menzies has done a great service to the Church in writing this book. Using the books of Luke and Acts, Dr. Menzies argues that the Pentecostal denomination is not a movement based on emotion or experience, as it usually is labeled but highly Scriptural and Theologically sound as well. He makes the case for the Baptisim of the Holy Spirit, the speaking of tongues, signs & wonders, and why Pentecostal churches are growing. I'm happy that this book exists because now, I have a place to refer skeptic Christians. Having grown up Pentecostal, I was always frustrated when confronted with critical Christians. How to explain the importance of the Holy Spirit's work in the Christian life, without resorting to experiences only and using the same passages? This book is very important for Pentecostal apologetics. I will definitely recommend to skeptics.
I'm taking away 1 star for repetition and the vocabulary. This is not an easy read for the layman. The author uses many Theological words assuming the reader will understand or be familiar with them. Had I not taken Theology courses, I would have been lost in several places. But then again, I suppose most people who pick up this book are Theology-oriented.
