Janet Lawler

Janet Lawler is the author of many books for children and is particularly inspired by the natural world. Her inspiration for this book came after listening to a YouTube recording of ten hours’ worth of walrus sounds, after which she wanted to learn more about these interesting creatures and share that knowledge with young readers. She had great fun creating words that reflect the weird noises walruses make! Janet Lawler lives with her family in Connecticut.

The pop ups and colors in this book are beautiful. The overall story was lost and some of the moveable pop ups didn't work as intended. Cute to pull out and read/show to kids 1st grade and under IMO

So cute! Love how much the pictures actually "escape" the page and everything is super smooth with no pieces getting stuck on each other. Enough details in the illustrations to keep my son intrigued. Colors are vibrant and the simple rhyming story affirms that each child is special.
