~ Dmitri ~ I was intrigued by Eiji the first time I saw him dancing in my club. I became obsessed with him when the ink was still wet on our marriage certificate. I wanted to give Eiji the life he should have had until I realized I had taken something from him I had no right to take, and then I knew I had lost him forever.
~Eiji ~ My life became uncomfortable the moment my father married my stepmother. It became a living hell when he died, leaving me in her cruel hands. At least, that' what I used to think, but then I discovered what true hell was, a brutal assault leaving me without a voice. When my stepmother married me off to a mob boss to pay her gambling debts, I realized that I had been wrong once again. My hell had just started...So why was he so gentle with me?
The execution is a bit choppy and transition could've been more smoother but this was actually quite entertaining. The perfect way to describe it, that it was easy I didn't find this boring everything went by so quickly even tho it's a bit rough around the edges especially the jump on each chapter. The punishment for Eiji tormentors was kinda tame, I Want graphic details of torture. I had a good time tho.
I outgrew these kinds of books, I guess. At some point in the past I enjoyed this kind of reading material, but now it only makes me shake my head. No plot, one dimensional characters, predictable twists and author telling the story and not showing it. The relationship and the supposed attraction did not make sense plus the "his magic d*ck fixed the issues" trope should never be used when one of the MCs has mental issues. Another problem was the use of misunderstanding and no communication to drive the plot. *sigh* I think this author's writing is not for me.
This was book 2 in the "Mafia Mayhem" series. Dmitri is head of the Russian mafia when he sees a beautiful young guy dancing in his club he has to meet him, but when his number 2 Yasha gets down to him he is gone. Eiji loves to dance so he sneaks his life has not been every since his father died he has been beaten by his stepmother and her three son's. I felt bad for Eiji I did not like his stepmother Beverley she was a cruel money hungry witch. When Dmitri finds out that she owes 5 million to his casino he is mad because the manager let it happen. He decides to use it to get Eiji out of that house. I loved this book and both of these characters. Eiji has a fear of strangers he was kidnapped and tortured when he was 15 and it caused him to lose his voice. I loved that Dmitri was careful with him. When they have sex Dmitri is ashamed because he thinks that he hurt him so he leaves and serves him divorce paper only he does want them. When he is kidnapped by his bodyguard he knows he has to get away. Dmitri is beside himself looking for his husband turns out Eiji knows how to take care of himself and thinks fast. Turns out Beverley was working with the Irish mob boss Michael O'Donnell who had it out for Dmitri when he gets Eiji bad with some help from Vinnie they come under attack and Eiji once again takes Michael out for good. This was a really good read. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Coming in hot with another ridiculous mm mafia romance review!
Like The Capo's Boy, I needed Dmitri to be way more crazy... but with that being said, I LOVED this one!
Dmitri sees Eiji dancing at his club and is instantly enthralled. Before they can talk, Eiji disappears. After some investigating, calling and ... erm.... stalking, Dmitri finds out about Eiji's situation and is determined to get him out by any means necessary.
Eiji is basically being held captive by his evil stepmother, who is bleeding his inheritance dry. Throw in three even eviler step brothers, and Eiji is not loving his life. He is also mute, a product of ptsd from an event at 15.
Throw in a SOLD into marriage thing, that's less about the buying and more about the rescuing we get Dima and Eiji falling in love.
This is light on sex, and when there is - it's weird. Like, never when I'm expecting it, and it's almost thrown in as an afterthought.
The story is ridiculous and entertaining, and I PLOWED through this almost 400-page story. I needed to know what happened next.
Next up is the Irish mobster, King. I'll probably read it just to see Vinnie and Dima again. Recommended for mafia fans who like a wild plot, but not unhinged mafia men.
Dmitri and Eiji's story was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Dmitri was a patient man who treated Eiji the way he wants to be treated and respect his boundaries. The heartbreaking parts were when he was just 15 yo, he was raped and tortured by his 3 evil stepbrothers. The torture didn't stop there, they and Eiji's stepmom continued to abusing him, held him prisoner for 10 years.
Death was too good to Eiji's step family so when the author made his stepbros to stayed in Russian prison in Siberia for 10 years, I think it's for the best and for his stepmom to become a cocktail waitress in a casino Dmitri's family owned in Russia, she would experience the hardship and miserable life not the same as Eiji's life before, but at least she got to taste her own medicine! And how fantastic it was for Eiji to felt comfortable and safe enough, he finally started to talk again.
It think Angus King's story is next. He's the one new in charge in Queens. Can't wait.

So far out of all the books in the “Marriage Mayhem”series and the spinoff series this book is my absolute favorite of them all!!! Dimitri and his husband Eiji are so perfect for each other. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
I adore these books. I don't care how much I have to suspend my disbelief or how kind-of-silly the premise can be--they are always an utter joy to read. Seeing the Marriage Mayhem crew has inspired me to reread that series as well. It's just all straight up comfort for me. I know I can trust Aja Foxx to give me exactly what I want from a story.
re-read: this was even better having read it after binging the associated series.
this and all future rereads: this series is so much fun. just.. no, it's not realistic but damned if it isn't a blast to read.
3.5 ⭐️. I will always read these books no matter how wild and crazy the plots get. This one reminded me a lot of The Marriage Contract and it was nice going back in time a little. I liked Eiji and Dmitri’s relationship though I would have liked to see more of Eiji overcoming his past instead of it being rushed over. I can’t wait for more to come out.
DNF’d at 75% this book had a lot of my favorite tropes. Mafia. Hurt/comfort. Age gap. But I didn’t feel the connection between the mc’s. It felt forced and rushed.
Eiji had my heart from the very beginning. He must be protected at all costs. Would fight his family to the death, fr. I love that Dimitri got to him. Probably my favorite in this series (and most emotional) so far.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story until the point where Eiji was captured. After that, it seemed like someone else took over the writing. The love scene was poorly written, and the dialogue made it seem like it was their first time engaging in such activities. The shootout scene was also poorly described. Overall, I was disappointed because this story had so much potential to be amazing.
Ok, this is difficult to judge. And my review will contain spoilers do son't blame me if you read on. . . . . .
The concept of the book had huge potential. Eiji's background, the terror, PTSD, the fear, the past abuse. Dmitri with his mafia background and the imminent attack on his territory. All a good base for a great story. And I liked the way Eiji hid in his nest and how Dmitri handled getting him out of there. And how he always wanted to take care of Eiji. So what was the problem? Dmitri's feelings were not expressed. I saw the actions he took to save and get close to Eiji, but no where in the book do we get his thoughts about how he loves Eiji. How the frightened man grows on him. How he begins to really care. The actions are there but not the thoughts and feelings. Other than that early infatuation (also not well described) in the club, I continued to wonder why he wanted Eiji. The height difference between Eiji and Dmitri needed to be made more of a deal of. At times the description of Eiji when he was held by Dmitri led me to almost believe that Eiji was 4'3'' short and weighed 50 pounds. His extreme femininity or child like statue needed to be explained more. The biggest issue I had with the book was the lack of proof reading. Grammar mistakes, tenses changing mid sentence, the wrong words used altogether, phrases incomplete, words mixed up with other words of similar spelling but completely different meaning, spelling mistakes which turned one word into another, i.e. "ever" instead of "over", peppered the book and made the reading less of a pleasure. The story as a whole left me wanting, the ending somewhat to rushed, Eiji's recovery from severe trauma way too fast despite him moving back into the house of 10 years of terror. Halfway through the story we also had a whole bunch of new people who were all gay and all married to their gay partners and all arranged marriages, even though in the beginning Dmitri wonders about his reputation taking a man as his husband and how that would affect him as a mafia boss. When all the others were doing the same as we find out later. Some aspects didn't make sense and all the new characters introduced all at once half way through the book didn't help. It felt like the author ran out of ideas and needed a few more people so shoved them all into the same room at the same time to be there. The sex scenes were ok, but didn't feel steamy enough and a penis so wide that the mouth of his partner can't get around the girth of it? hmm. Let's be more realistic. Unless Eiji really is the size of an 8 year old child. In which case the back entry couldn't have taken that size either. It's an ok book to while away a rainy day, however, I am not rushing out to get more of this series just yet.
I’m not sure if I liked this one more or the first one. This one had a few more inconsistencies.
So this book starts when Dimitri sees Eiji (not sure how to pronounce that) dancing with his friends at the club he owns. He’s immediately interested in finding out more about him but before he can talk to him he sees on the camera that he was beaten up and taken in a car by three men. Dima tracks down Eijis stepsister to find out what happened and more about him. It turns out that the three men were Eijis stepbrothers and the whole family aside from the stepsister have been abusing him and keeping him locked in his room. So Dima comes up with a plan to rescue him from his awful family. They end up in an arranged marriage of sorts.
Oh man Dimitri was so damn sweet. He was way sweeter than I thought he was going to be but he was so good to Eiji. Eiji is mute but him and Dimitri just go so well together that Dimitri could understand everything Eiji was trying to tell him. I loved seeing them interact and how Dimitri did everything to make Eiji comfortable. There was one or two times where I was mad at Dimitri but he more than made up for it when he was crying literal tears for Eiji!
Eiji was super sweet and resourceful. I loved that when he was kidnapped he was the one to rescue himself and he saved Dima from being killed. He didn’t just sit back and do nothing even though he’s been beaten down his whole life.
I do think the author should have found another way for these two to meet. Eiji has debilitating social Anxiety making it so he doesn’t want leave the house let alone his room and yet once a month he goes to the club and dances with his friends. He has such a fear of strangers and being seen that he wears a wrap over his head and yet he was fine just dancing on the dance floor out in front of tons of strangers. I mean he couldn’t even leave his room at Dimas house without having an attack so this didn’t make sense at all.
Also Dima was another boss that let his right hand man think for him. He was asking his men questions he should have already known the answer to if he was a true boss. I feel like in mafia books any other boss would have dealt with Eijis family permanently for what they did to him. They got off too easily in my opinion.
Also also, what the heck happened to Eijis stepsister that helped him? She just disappears from the book after him and Dima get married.
So yeah this book was a little OTT and dramatic and you have to suspend belief a little but honestly I still enjoyed it.
P.S. I loved Yasha so much!! He was such a sweetheart and such a good right hand man.
-NO CHEATING -NO OM DRAMA -THEY KIND OF SEPARATE WHERE DIMA GOES AWAY FOR A FEW WEEKS AFTER THINKING HE HURT EIJI -MURDER -TALK OF PAST SA ON MC
The initial plot of the book, Dimitri seeing Eiji dancing and being infatuated was so thin I could believe it. I could 100% see a mob boss being infatuated with someone and just kidnapping them. Eiji's sister insisting, "Oh if you want to help my brother you have to marry him," was laughable. The general plot was so flimsy that I could see light shining through it but I continued on.
Eiji existed just to suffer in this book. Like he's supposed to be a sweet cinnamon roll we want to protect but I didn't find him endearing. His stepmother was also comically evil. He has no contact with the outside world. No phone, no computer, nothing. Somehow he has friends and somehow he arranges to go out dancing with them every month. Everything has been taken from his bedroom right down to be bed frame. His window has been nailed shut. She also jumps at the
This book was entertaining but shallow. Eiji not being able to speak was a severe hurdle for this book. In the end it did nothing to help drive the story. To be fair this comes in at almost 400 pages and it doesn't feel like that, it feels like a slim 200 pages so that's a plus. The previous book was much better. We did kinda lose the no gays in the mafia plot. Like some people raised an eyebrow but it felt like set dressing more than anything else. Not everything needs gay angst but in a situation like this it would have been nice.
You can really tell if I like a book based off of how many quotes I make.....
' I smiled before picking up the note and tearing it into tiny pieces that I could easily chew. No matter how many notes Carrie slipped me, I always made sure they were disposed of so no one could know she'd left the for me. ' Eiji we're not in a spy movie. You have an attached bathroom. Flush it. Hell have her write it in water-based ink, that'll just disappear once wet.
Good grief. My observation at 9%: Only 9% in and I'm already yelling at a MC. This does not bode well. I get that there needs to be at least some degree of suspension of disbelief for fiction to be enjoyable (dragons, anyone?). But come on, here. Eiji is *25*. An adult. And instead of going straight to the police to report his ongoing kidnapping when he manages to escape the house, he goes DANCING instead?? Seriously??
He complains that he has lost all the furniture in his room over the years, sometimes doesn't get fed, and is black & blue from the beating by his stepbrothers. But hey, at least they don't hit his face! 🤷🏻♀️ Seriously??
I finally had enough at just 11%. Eiji says that the outside world terrifies him, to the point of passing out from terror. Yet a handful of pages previous, he states that the monthly escapes to go dancing were his only escape. What? Which is it? Too terrified to remain conscious in the outside world, or clubbing at a packed dance club monthly keeps him sane? MAKE UP YOUR MIND. No access to the outside world because he's had all electronics confiscated. EXCEPT HE'S IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD EVERY TIME HE SLIPS AWAY TO GO DANCING INSTEAD OF REPORTING HIS KIDNAPPING TO THE POLICE.
And then shall I mention how his 21-yr-old stepsister schools a MAFIA DON on how to rescue a kidnapping victim? I guess telling the stepmother that she's into a mafia-owned casino for $5 million dollars so she has no bargaining power isn't going to be enough to rescue Eiji because she'll just run to the police and report that he's been kidnapped. *blink* What? Go ahead and do that and see how it works out for you when the "victim" says he's consenting to be there and in fact she's the one who has kidnapped him and had him forcibly confined for going on a decade. But no, I guess we'll have to go with the 21-yr-old's plan of insisting on marrying the man to get him away. I'm rolling my eyes so hard here I'm afraid I may dislocate something. I just can't with this anymore. This is so literally unbelievable that it's preposterous.
Good plot and I liked Eiji and Dimitri was ok, as were some of the side characters but oh, man so many WTF moments in this. One, fire every single bodyguard except maybe Yasha, all these other ones seem like idiots. Like, why would Levi leave Eiji alone to go get his jacket? So stupid. Speaking of stupid whose idea was it to put a ladder off Eiji’s balcony, hello Mr. Kidnappers please come right on in to my husbands bedroom. Two, the shower scene with Eiji and Dimitri. You know when you read a book and all of a sudden the you are like “Wha? What is happening? No, this came out of left field. There is no way the author did this!” And then you realize it’s a dream the MC had and all is right again. This! But is was no dream! And on top of that to find out Dimitri’s dick is over 10inches!!!!! Ok, One, OUCH! But two, Eiji is essentially a virgin! Yes, he was raped in the past (10yrd ago) but you are telling me a guy with that type of history, who panicked and ran from a cock brushing his thigh, is gonna bend over and take what will feel like a baseball bat shoved up his ace with no problem mentally or physically?!?!? Three, how come Dimitri had no problem killing the people who were after him, like Boris, but lets the people who hurt Eiji have a chance at life. Yes, yes, they need to suffer and ideally in the long run they probably will but we have no idea if they actually will. Four, Eiji’s sister is a bitch. Sure, it seemed she tried to help but instead of ignoring it and going off to school to only come home on Sundays, how about you hire a top notch attorney with Eiji’s money and get him the bell out of there? Five, Eiji and his sneaking out to dance. Guy can’t leave his room for food but let’s go to a crowded club and dance the night away?!?!? Yeah, I don’t think so. And how would he have even met Parker and his friends to go with? He can’t even look at strangers. I loved the plot though just needs some tweaking.
3.75 * overall. This is not my first time reading a book by the author so I knew what to expect – drama, OTT scenes but also a tender and lovely romance. And it definitely fits the bill.
The forced marriage was anticipated and quite well-executed. Dima (Dimitri) was immediately enchanted and in need to take care of Eiji. Eiji’s struggles to get used to Dima’s place and people felt real and well-executed. I loved the way Eiji sought comfort. Did I think this would turn into a Little situation? Yes, there was a potential, but it does not happen at all. Eiji’s sister was a blessing and a lovely female character.
What bummed me was one scene that just did not make sense. I even thought it was a dream. It felt even more out of place when Eiji had a break down connected to what happens in this scene. It really lessened the impact of the hurt/comfort. And it was no longer discussed or addressed.
Another issue I had was with Dimitri, the boss. He is not enough tough or strict on-page. He often mentions that someone needs to be dealt with only for somebody else to do it, or for the issue to not be addressed anymore.
Otherwise, the book was enjoyable, with just enough quick pace and cute romance (with some separation). Eiji can be quite a bad a$$ so it made him even better character.
Mob boss Dimitri was intrigued by Elji when he saw him dancing with friends in his club and became obsessed with making sure that he could be there whenever he was dancing. Wanting to give him the life he should have after the cruel treatment he endured from his stepmother after his dad died where after one brutal attack he lost his voice, Dimitri agreed to clear her gambling debts by marrying Elji. Dimitri was very gentle with him and over time he started to trust him - until he made a fatal error and it could be that he has lost him forever.
I really enjoyed this story. The stepmother and stepbrothers were truly evil and Dimitri definitely saved Elji's life as they were never going to leave him alone. I loved the gentleness of Dimitri even though when protecting Elji he was determined and quite ruthless. I was heartbroken for Elji when Dimitri made his mistake but at least he fixed it and saw the error of his ways. A beautiful story of abuse and redemption. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and some descriptions of violence.
I adored Dmitri & Eiji, their alternating povs and learning each of their stories. Their relationship doesn't start out well, but I loved how supportive they're of each other.
All of the dancing and action is amazing. I enjoyed seeing Eiji gain his confidence and take steps forward after years of torture. Dmitri is wonderful and so sweet with Eiji.
Sadly this one suffered similarly to the first in its randomly rushed pacing and time skip, it just ruined the flow. It just wasn't portrayed well as seen purely Eiji perspective for couple chapters and only hear Dmitri after. Also was like they had been in different events as didn't line up at all. I actually thought I'd accidentally skipped something but nope.
Still I loved the concept and characters are incredible. The action scenes here were especially grabbing, the shootouts and the emotional discussions. Eiji getting to be a fighter/defend too, teaching through dance was wonderful.
Overall it's an entertaining read as long as ignore the pacing, it's got a lot of potential and fun characters. With a happy ending for Eiji & Dmitri 💛
I read this Mafia story in quick succession with another Mafia story and this suffered from the comparison. I had just finished Savage Hearts by Geissinger and was on a pleasant book high and this kind of ruined it for me to be honest. Dmitri is the Mob boss who owns a nightclub when he sees Eiji dancing down below. He (for whatever reason) becomes obsessed with Eiji and makes a point to investigate him. When Dmitri discovers that Eiji is in undesirable circumstances he initiates a rescue. Eiji is VERY wealthy but his evil stepmother (think Snow White evil) and her sons keep him a virtual prisoner to maintain access to his trust and money. Eiji is about to reach the age of full access and things may get ugly. Eiji was just a weird character. Mute because of trauma he hides from the world behind scarves and hoodies. His character acted too baby-like for my taste. Dmitri was a bit 'mafia lite' and between the two things I was incredulous to the point of eye roll.
I read a couple books by the author but have yet to leave a review with the rating as I didn’t necessarily have any words at the time; however, after reading this book, I had to say it was the best one yet. I love how Dimitri cared for Eiji. It wasn’t your typical run of the mill where mob boss kidnaps lover and makes him fall in love with him by treating him badly. From day one Dimitri treated him with respect which Eiji came to admire and love him by. I also love the underlying story line as it added depth and I loved that characters from other books showed up. All in all I loved the book and would highly recommend it. I have a feeling the Irish or Konstantine may be where the next book may be headed.
An ok read. I wouldn't say I didn't like the read itself, rather, there were issues I just couldn't understand or felt didn't completely make sense. We have a mob boss that seems to have gone legit, and even with that, I felt this man didn't seem to act like a mob boss. He just came off as a regular Joe shmoe. Letting a un- background checked person to work for you? Going through the cops? Not just taking our guy away from his horrible family and just k*lling them all! I felt these things all fall under what a mob boss would do? Besides these issues, I did like these two together. I thought they were super cute. I am a bit shocked how fast things happen between these two. But I wouldn't say it turned me off either. Ok read over all
Eiji faced a brutal assault ten years ago causing him to lose his voice, already trapped in his own home by his stepmother and stepbrothers, he wants to be free but is terrified of the outside world. His only solace is once a month he sneaks out to go dancing with his friends. Dimitri owns several legit businesses as the head of the Russian mafia, one of which is a club where he sees a captivating man he takes an immediate interest in. When he finds him beaten and taken outside his club he sets out to find everything he can about him. What starts as trying to find out what happened leads to Dimitri wanting to protect Eiji by any means, that includes marrying him to save him from his stepmother.
5 stars…. This series is GIVING! Next up we have another mafia boss, this time for the Russian mob, Dmitri who is fierce and loyal and goes after a man he sees in a club once and finds enchanting. When he finds out Eiji is mute and being abused he does everything to save him… including marriage.
Dmitri is so incredibly patient, caring, and gentle with Eiji who is sooooo traumatized from something in his past that once you find out the full picture is so truely horrific I can’t even tell you. This book was def more dark than I expected but it didn’t bring the tone or enjoyment down but I def would be careful as this could be triggering for sure!
2/5 on spice. 1/5 on kink. 2/5 on tears. Poor boy deserved better so much sooner.
I absolutely loved this book, maybe even more than the last one. Eiji is a mute who has been bullied and tortured by his stepmother and stepbrothers for the last ten years. He sneaks out of his house and goes to a Russian Mafia owned club to dance. Dimitri owns the club and spots Eiji and is intrigued by him. Dimitri learns what has happened to Eiji and is determined to help him by marrying him. Everyone is trying to kill Eiji and Dimitri and they have to take them out one by one. So many twist and turns they don't know who to trust. Eventually they get their HEA but it was hard earned.
The synopsis sounded like a cheesy and smutty but fun read. Nothing to write home about. I understand these books are supposed to be fun fantasies but the author leaned into the cheapest twists and most ridiculous tropes. It's clear that they are unable to write characters with even a modicum of realism. The sex scenes were atrocious. I found the portrayal of anxiety and selective mutism to be particularly insulting and egregious. There were numerous grammar and spelling mistakes. I genuinely don't understand why anyone should read this.
This was definitely better than the previous book but still not very well written. The premise is there and Eiji’s character, circumstances and ensuing mental health and social issues were intriguing to have in a MC. Dimitri however was pretty tame as a mafia boss. You would expect that he would be able to handle his security better, but it was one issue after the other which undermined his character as both a mafia boss and an MC.
I’d say all in all it was an okay read but nothing out of the ordinary or memorable.
Eiji suffers an unimaginable attack at 15. after, his stepmother locks him in the house and has him beaten when she needs more money. Dima starts off trying to help but then abandons E. weird. mob politics, attacks, Vinnie and Jake b/c E knows Parker.
Russian mafia controls the Bronx.
