Thousands of years after the battle between the angels, when Lucifer was defeated by Michael in the Heavens, the war is still being fought on Earth by the humans who have their Power, and the demons that want it.
Allison Stevens, a 21 year old single mother, gets thrown into the middle of this battle when Damien, the Leader of the Rising, decides to hunt her down and kill her because he fears she is the descendant prophesied to save the world.
David, a member of the Order, takes Allison under his wing in order to show her the ropes, and hopefully groom her into being the one they have been waiting for. The only problem is that they start to grow more attached than they should.

Alison is a young single mother who has just had her Power awakened. A descendant, born with the Angel's Power in her, Alison is thrown into the world of the Order. Training with Order member, David, so that she can face the leader of their enemies, the Rising, she discovers her strength and Power as she learns to control her abilities. The Rising leader, Damien, fears her to be the Descendant, the prophesied one who is descended with all the Angel's powers, and the only one who can kill him. He will stop at nothing to see her dead, but Alison isn't going down without a fight.
Being that I have known Theresa Jones since she was about 10 years old, I was granted the pleasure of cheating. I was allowed to read the very first draft of this novel, and I have to say, the changes since then are fairly large. This novel has truly transformed. Seeing my name in the acknowledgements was the best gift I could have gotten.
This novel is really easy to read. The writing just flows, taking you on the journey. I would have liked to see a bit more emotion building. I got a tear in my eyes once or twice, but I would have really liked to be consumed by the novel. I thought at first, that maybe since I had read it before, that I was uneffected, but enough had changed that I feel I should have still been more moved. The lack of it wasn't enough to kill anything, just to make me miss having it there. I also would've liked a bit more uncertainty. There is a point where things are slightly predictable, thought that might be confidence leaking off the pages.
I really like the characters. Alison is a sweetheart who is just so full of love. Her reactions to things can be a bit heated, but she seems like the type who feels all her emotions quickly and strongly. Although she was forced to mature early for her age when she became a young mother, she still is the type to feel an emotion first and ask questions or find rational thought later. David is wonderful, though felt stiff at times. It might have to deal a lot with his age though. Samantha is precious, and I really would've liked to have seen more of her, but I know that this wasn't her story. I felt like Damien could've been more fleshed out as a character, but I was generally happy with him.
The plot is really easy to follow. Things are explained well, in a way you can grasp them easily without it making you feel like you are being talked down to. The story was really nice. Angels and Demons aren't usually my thing, but they are there in the history of this novel and not so much in the pages of it. I loved the way the powers were explained and described. It was really easy to imagine it in your head and just made me happy. More characters need awesome magic like this. The basis of things were simple. I feel like there will be much more to this, but that it will unfurl more in the future installments. I wish the tension building for the climax had been a bit more drawn out. While it was needed, the set up of the novel was just a little long compared to the climax, and the climax started off right after a short time skip, giving the tension less time to build up. The climax was well written, once again, would've liked a bit more tension, maybe a some more action, I was just left longing for it.
This was a really good start to the series, a great novel, and a fabulous debut. Completely worth picking up. Definitely recommend this to everyone.

I have read a few books involving battles between Good and Evil lately but every one of them has their own unique twist. Power is a fabulous story where World War lll is just beginning. It may lead to the apocalypse and those with Power need to step up to help prevent Evil from taking over the world.
Allison is the main character in the book and she is an amazing person. I felt I was able to connect with her as we are both mothers and would do anything to protect our children. She is a sweet girl who tries to avoid confrontation but will stick up for herself when needed. She is very close with her mother, who is also her best friend, but she doesn’t appear to have many friends and the changes in her life were easy to deal with as she didn’t have anything else to keep her at home.
The majority of the book is from Allison’s POV, but we do get other POV’s along the way, some are the good guys and some bad guys too. I thought that these other views gave greater depth to the story and really filled in some gaps in the storyline.
Allison does have a bit of a love interest in the book and it was nice to see their relationship develop. They have one of those electric relationships and they don’t really know how to handle it. There are a number of factors involved that keeps the distance between them. I liked the way that they inherited their Power as not anyone can have it; it is linked to their bloodline.
Power didn’t have any actual fighting scenes as it is focused on developing Allison’s Power so that she can control her Power and maybe able to defend herself. Once you develop the Power there is no need for hand to hand combat as you can do almost anything with your power. It is a strong magic that Allison had no idea about.
I enjoyed the whole story as it was an easy read and the plot flowed effortlessly. The ending was great and left me wondering which direction the next book would take. I look forward to the next book as I have a lot of thoughts flowing through my head about this book and I wonder what will happen in the future…

I could do a serious happy dance over what a great find Power is! I love, love, love the creativity that went in the world building: the gifts, their origins, the colors, the artists and dancers..... it's so very WOW! I want to clap for joy!!!
The writing is great as well. The plot flows smoothly, with beautifully crafted images and the mystery of everything unfolding at just the right moment. The author does make us wait, teasing us with just a peek here and there until we fully understand what's going on.
I adore the main character, Allison. She's likable from the get go, but has her issues that she must "grow" through to become that really great character. I so appreciate a strong female lead, who must fight her own battles, but still has that vulnerability that makes her relatable.
I did have a couple concerns. First off, the other characters could have had a bit more depth. There's an amazing cast in Power, and while no one felt "flat," I didn't feel deeply connected to any of them, either. I also felt that we were given some conflicting data about the gifts, but I can't really explain without spoilers (which I try never to do). Overall, these are minor issues and none marred my enjoyment of the book. I'll definitely be stalking the author for news on the rest of the trilogy!!!

When Theresa first came to me, asking me to be a part of her upcoming book tour I was excited and a little nervous. What if I didn't enjoy the book? There's nothing worse then having to write a bad review. But luckily that was not the case with this book at all!
Allison is just trying to live her life. But these weird dreams just don't seem to want to let her go. I liked her from the moment the story started. She's a single mother who's trying to do what's best for her daughter. But add in crazy dreams, paranormal events and super hot teacher and suddenly her life is anything but normal.
I don't know how much is too much say because I don't want to give anything away but this book is made of awesomeness. As her debut book I feel like Theresa did an amazing job. I love the writing, the plot is captivating and I can't wait to read the next book.
Paranormal lovers will love this! And if you're a fan of New Adult then you'll probably enjoy this even more. Definite read for me.

What stood out for me in this book, which to be honest could have been like every other novel of this genre out there, is the creativity that fills these pages. From the carefully crafted world-building, to the characters which read as wholly real, this book does manage to stand apart from the bunch.
Allison, the protagonist was my favorite character, and the one I felt was most developed. She manages to progress through the book, so that we really see a change by the end of it. This is what we always want to see in a character: that the journey has been worthwhile. The other characters are interesting and well done, but Allison is the one we really bond with.
This is a fun book that will keep you reading well past your bedtime, so I do recommend it, especially to all of you who love paranormal romances.

My Rant:
I was infatuated with this story. It was an easy ready and I could barely put it down. I am all about having power. Lol. The story was compelling and I was able to connect with the characters especially Alison. She was strong brave and determined. The book was just amazing; I mean it made me feel like a child again. When I was young I loved anything that had to so with special powers and magic. I was fascinated by it and this book just captures those feeling for me. The romance with Davis was just too much. My heart just fluttered and sped up every time he graced the scene.
“Holding my hands in his, David kissed my knuckles before he swore to me, “I will love every day of the rest of my life.”
I swear I love, love sexy male characters. The action was on point and I was at the edge of my seat. You feel a rush of emotions exploding within you. The plot was compelling and creative and everything I hoped it would be. I love power so much that I am adding it to my favorites list and I look forward to the future installments in this trilogy.
My Recommendation:
I rated this book 4 out of 5 purple rant hearts and would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a plot where good versus evil in a magical storm of battles with off the chart romance.

Im not really a book reader much, but when I picked up this book, I couldn’t put it down!! The story follows a young woman, after she finds out she is descended from women who were infused with Angel power, and is a part of a large scale battle between the Rising (people with demon power) and the Order (the good guys…)
She and her daughter embark on a journey as she tries to learn how to use this power in order to save her family from being murdered by the hands of the Leader of the Rising.
Along the way, she falls in love with the older, and unattainable David, as he trains her and attempts to help her with her destiny.
In the background, you have people trying to figure out if she is the one, The Descendant, who is prophesied to save the world. See, the Rising is trying to open the Seven Seals, to bring forth the Apocalypse! And she has to try and stop them!
The romance was sweet, the action- intriguing, and the plot was exciting!
A must read for fans of YA/NA paranormal Romance novels!

Having been an avid reader all my life, I have definite preferences about which books I choose to spend my time reading. I love good vs. Evil, angels and demons, etc., so I was predisposed to enjoy this book. Having said that, not all stories are created equal. I thoroughly enjoyed Power, and anxiously await the next installment. I found myself completely caught up in the story, to the point of staying up too late and getting up a little earlier (which is saying something, as I am NOT a morning person!), just to find out what would happen next. Isn't that what we all want from a book? The ability to hold our interest, spurring us on to read just a little more- just one more page, just one more chapter. This book did that for me. Just because the subject matter is angels and demons ( kind of), don't think that you will be preached to in this book. There is very little of an overtly religious nature-it is really more of good vs evil.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good story to spend some time with.

This is the kind of novel I like to read. The kind that makes you feel like there could be so much more to this world. where a single, young mother is able to accomplish something great- after hard trials and diligent work.
The story is about a feisty, impatient woman names Allison, who is told she has Power. Because of this power, there is a man who wants to kill her. This man, Damien, has demon power, and wants to start the apocalypse. Things have already started by the beginning of the book. Some of the Four horsemen have been released, as World War III ravages the Earth.
While Allison trains at a hidden compound, buried deep in the mountains, she starts to have feelings for her mentor, David. David is tall, dreamy, honest and dependable, and sexy as hell! But she cant only think about herself or her love life, she has a daughter who comes first, and a whole world to save.
I will be following this new author! And cant wait for the next book!

This was a very well-written, flowing story about a single parent who finds out she has powers. She is whisked away to work on mastering her powers, along the way meeting some very interesting people. She is rumored to have a great destiny. To find out what it might be, you NEED to read this book! :)

In the story, behind the life that we live, there are humans that have Power. Power from the angels- these are called the Order, and Power from demons- These people are the Rising. And they fight, unbeknownst to us. Well, Allison discovers on her 21st birthday that she has Power, and she might be the one… the descendant.

One of the things I've loved about Goodreads is that I have access to authors who I probably wouldn't have thought of by just going to Amazon or any of the bookstore sites. I've been lucky in that the books that I've gotten have been well written and actually have a story. One that I want to continue reading. Power, by Theresa M. Jones is one of them. I enjoyed this book. She has well developed characters and I can't wait to see what happens going forward. I'd highly recommend this to anyone!

Power: The Descendant Trilogy (Volume 1) by Theresa M Jones

As her 21st birthday arrives, Alison finds out she is one of the descendants, someone born with the power of the angels to help balance the good and the evil in the world. It is believed by some that Alison is the most powerful, descending from not one but all nine of the Primitus and as such will be able to conquer the most powerful evil.
I was immediately drawn into this story from the very first page. Initially I was curious about Alison and her relationship with Alex. The fact that they had been dating for years and had a five-year-old daughter, yet still hadn’t married or completely committed to each other gave me the impression that there was more behind it. But as the story continued I began to think Alex was a bit of a spare part where the plot was concerned, and felt I unsure of his place in the story or if he needed to be in it at all. Once Alison fully understood why Rick had returned to her life after so long, and decided to go with him I kind of forgot about Alex unless he was mentioned, he seemed like a pointless character really.
Mainly following Alison’s training and her new feelings for David, ‘Power’ is a great opening instalment to the Descendant trilogy. We are given a lot of information and I was able to follow the story easily. There were a couple of characters who I feel we don’t know fully yet, and hope that in the following books we will learn more about both David and Samantha. I am sure the little girl has more to her than we have initially seen.
Theresa’s story telling ability is plain to see, though I did feel there were some unnecessary things in there that added to word count but not to the story, she clearly has some interesting ideas for this angel/demon trilogy that are new and fresh to me. I enjoyed the read and will happily continue the series.

As her 21st birthday arrives, Alison finds out she is one of the descendants, someone born with the power of the angels to help balance the good and the evil in the world. It is believed by some that Alison is the most powerful, descending from not one but all nine of the Primitus and as such will be able to conquer the most powerful evil.
I was immediately drawn into this story from the very first page. Initially I was curious about Alison and her relationship with Alex. The fact that they had been dating for years and had a five-year-old daughter, yet still hadn’t married or completely committed to each other gave me the impression that there was more behind it. But as the story continued I began to think Alex was a bit of a spare part where the plot was concerned, and felt I unsure of his place in the story or if he needed to be in it at all. Once Alison fully understood why Rick had returned to her life after so long, and decided to go with him I kind of forgot about Alex unless he was mentioned, he seemed like a pointless character really.
Mainly following Alison’s training and her new feelings for David, ‘Power’ is a great opening instalment to the Descendant trilogy. We are given a lot of information and I was able to follow the story easily. There were a couple of characters who I feel we don’t know fully yet, and hope that in the following books we will learn more about both David and Samantha. I am sure the little girl has more to her than we have initially seen.
Theresa’s story telling ability is plain to see, though I did feel there were some unnecessary things in there that added to word count but not to the story, she clearly has some interesting ideas for this angel/demon trilogy that are new and fresh to me. I enjoyed the read and will happily continue the series.

I wasn't sure when I started reading this if I would like it or not based solely on the fact that the main character was a single mom at 21. I felt like it complicated things, and it just made the book seem a bit more mature than the regular YA books that I read. I found myself pleasantly surprised to actually enjoy and come to love the main character that grew up from her teen pregnancy I also understood halfway through the novel why it was necessary for her to be a mother so young.
I really enjoyed reading this debut novel, but the only thing that bothered me was it's predictability I can pretty much tell you exactly what is going to happen to the main characters and the prophecy in the next book because it was that predictable. Maybe it was just me, but it kind of ruined the surprise for me. I loved the characters, and I particularly enjoyed Allison and her daughter. I thought her daughter was just too precious and she really did add an element to the story that I would have missed otherwise.
I loved the world that Mrs. Jones created in this novel and I will definitely be reading the rest of the books in the series. Bravo Mrs. Jones on your debut! It really was a special treat.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Being plagued by the same nightmare time and again is bad enough; finding out that your nightmare is actually a reality can be a tough pill to swallow. How does a single mother deal with the news that not only are her nightmares real but that is she does not leave the only family she has left behind they will die at the hands of said nightmare? As if that wasn’t enough to find out that you actually may have the power to stop all of this in its tracks and not only save your family but the worlds as we know it. This is what Allison faces going from ordinary single mom and daughter to a woman with untold powers overnight. With the help of Rick and David she is trained in the battle against good and evil. Along the way she makes new friends, finds love and let’s not forget she has to try to stop the end of days! This is a wonderful story with a new twist on how the end of days will come about and how it may be fought against. I was drawn in from the beginning and cannot wait to read the next book!

When I first started this book, I really liked the idea that Allison was a single mom. To me that was a new idea for a NA novel.I wasn't sure how that would play into a paranormal NA romance.but the author makes it work. I Also liked the idea of descendants of either good or bad, demons, and angels. Allison is an average girl who had strengths before she finds out she has power, then with training she becomes baddass. The romance with David is a real one that's not overdone, and angsty. Which is perfect since she's a single mom with a daughter to think about. The only complaint I had was I wanted more detailed interactions between Allison and David. That was minor, this book has a great base to a series I look forward to reading. The writing was well paced with an interesting plot. The characters are good, and I look forward to seeing them grow in the next book. This was a good read for anyone.

The Rising are going from strength to strength, their demonic goal is nothing less than the end of the world. And to achieve that they’re opening the seven seals and unleashing the four horsemen. War has already consumed the planet, with worse to come.
Against them stand the descendants. Descendants of 9 holy women each with their own gifts and talents who strive to counter The Rising and hope for their prophecy to come true – that one will be born who is descended from all 9 of the Primatus.
And into this strides Allison, teenage mother, in a very rocky relationship, just trying to get by in Texas as the world falls apart. Until she comes into her power and is brought by David to the Descendants – because she could be the one. Whether she is or not, the leader of the Rising thinks she is and isn’t taking any chances in letting her live.
The concept of this story is an interesting take on a lot of old memes and I really like the combination. The demons have chosen their humans according to classic sins and their descendants seek to end the world. On the good side we have angels tapping 9 super holy women so their descendants can oppose them. Each bloodline has special powers and you can collect them all. The ultimate good guy will be born who is descended from all 9 of the first holies making her the super-duperest good guy of them all. She is, of course, prophesised. It’s a classic story that has been in many different forms but can still be a good one (they even had Castafonda whose descendants inspire love – yes they have a useless Heart power!)
It’s not nuanced. The bad guys want the end of the world, the good guys want to stop them. Even reading from the bad guy’s point of view they are comically evil – melodramatic in the worst way. They make early comic book villains look like nuanced and human characters with well shades and fascinating motivations.
I do like that the origin story is presented as being allegorical. Yes he uses angels as an example, but also points out that in the past the same story was told using Greek gods. Except we then get the seven seals and the four horsemen that don’t work so well. Also Deception is one of the horsemen – damn that seal’s always open. Does he run for government?
Much of this is told in info dumps – but it is interesting in and of itself and it does make sense in the setting. In fact, the main thing that makes the info dumps less realistic is Allison’s inability to sit still for 15 minutes so we constantly have the dumping interrupted by them taking a walk or Allison’s internal commentary.
This paranormal romance has a lot of unique elements to it as well. We’re all familiar with romances that just cannot be because of the curse/laws/rules/whatever and they tend to be convoluted. This romance has a barrier at the beginning for a very simple, very real, very human reason – Allison’s fiancé who she cared for has recently died.
It’s perfectly reasonable – normal even – for David to decide that a romance with Allison so soon after her fiancé and father of her child died was out of the question. It’s even reasonable for him to feel guilty about even thinking of her in that way; natural or not, we respect when someone is grieving and the appropriate ways to relate to them. Similarly, Allison’s guilt over betraying Alex is reasonable as well. That’s also a very natural part of the grieving process, worrying we’re moving on too soon, thinking we’re disrespecting their memory.
I also liked that the romance happened slowly. Yes there was a moment of instant attraction and the description of their mutual hotness at length, but then the relationship took a long time to become a relationship. Weeks, perhaps months of talking to each other, knowing each other, working together before we finally got the lust definitively turning into love.

First of all, isn't that cover gorgeous? Love it!
What a wonderful start to what I can only imagine is going to be a great series.
I must say I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading Power. Angel power? I can dig it. One girl to save the world while trying to figure out her own heart? This had to have been written with my tastes in mind. 21 year old single mother? Hold up, say what? Now we're stepping out of my typical territory. New Adult is the, pardon the epic pun-fail, 'new' big thing, but it's not something I've really had the urge to read. But when I was approached by the author about reviewing Power, I figured what the heck, and I'm glad I did.
I really liked the overall idea of Power. One girl, a descendant, could be the key stopping the ultimate war of good vs evil. Sounds like the makings to a great book right? Each person who has power is a descendant from atleast on of the nine Primitus, or women who were chosen because of their virtue and given power from the angel Michael. The actual power that people have is really neat, it's like this visible energy and each person has their own color. It kind of reminds me of show Dragonball Z with the whole powering up. I know, I pulled that COMPLETELY out of left field. But there's just something about the imagery of being engulfed in this colorful Power. Kinda beautiful. Every person had their own gifts be it mind reading, telekinesis or healing, on top of having this power. And I don't think I'm explaining it all to well, but trust me it's pretty cool how Allison uses her power in battle to invade people's minds.
The point of view switches through out the story though the main focus is on Allison. While sometimes this can throw me off in a story, I did enjoy it here and getting to know other characters a little better. Believe it or not, one of my favorites was seeing inside Damien's head. Damien is our villain here, and how often do you get to peak inside the villain's head? At one point he's talking, and he just starts thinking how much he loves his voice. Narcissist? Um yeah, I'd say so. But I loved it. Sometimes you just need a bad guy and not someone who is simple bad because of their logical intentions.
I really only had two issues while reading Power. The first being that it did take me a bit to really get involved with the story. Yeah, there were several scenes that caught my attention and kept me going, like the first time Allison releases her Power, but it wasn't until about half way through that Power and I really clicked.
The second is really more just my personal reading preference than anything else. I prefer to be shown things instead of just told how they happened. I love dialogue and seeing characters reactions. I feel like I missed out on what could have been some really great scenes because the character who was telling the story at the time simply said this is how it was handled and this is what the other people did in response. I think because of this I didn't fall in love with the characters as much as I could have and at times it causes the story to come off as wordy.
I did appreciate the relationship between David and Allison. One of the main reasons I steer clear of anything where the MC is over than 19 is because it's usually about Lust bunnies getting it on, on any available flat surface. Don't worry, there are a few moments between the two that heat up the page.
Over all, Power is a fantastic debut and I'm definitely interested in seeing what's in store for Allison and Sammy and company.

Power is a drama filled new adult novel that shows that power of love over that of fear and hate. Told in alternating points of view, Power tells the story of fate and the role it plays in your life and the lives of those around you.
We follow Allison, a 21 year old single mother who has been having strange dreams lately about a dangerous man. She is also beginning to feel filled up with a strange purple substance all while dealing with the controlling nature of her ex-husband. One day, while she is meeting with her ex, her dreams and her reality collide with fatal results. It's not soon afterward that she learns about herself fully; That she has the power of Angels within her, and that she may be the descendant that has been prophesized to save the world. The story follows her learning experiences, both academic, romantic, and social and ends in a way that will have readers thinking about what prophesy really means, and about the power of love.
As a character. Allison was much like any young single mother who has been through a bad breakup and has not yet understood her path in life. She experiences an intense growth in this book, and becomes a much stronger person in the end. Her love interest, David is so sweet and intense. I loved seeing the book in his point of view. As for Damien, the "bad guy" I dont believe he's that "bad." He doesnt scare me in any way, and almost seems like a regular old guy who's expected to be bad and does so just to stay where he is and to defeat Allison. Lilith, on the other hand, is a terrifying thing to behold. Her manipulation and demented ways are the perfect recepie for her bad guy role.
I enjoyed learning a bit about the angels and how they impacted their descendants. I also enjoyed seeing the relationship between David and Allison blossom. I loved seeing her daughter and grew to feel affection toward her as if she were my own. Unfortunately, there were a few things I didnt like.
The lessons Allison recieved took up much of the middle of the book. At points, I felt mroe like I was receiving a history lesson than reading a fiction book. Additionally, most of the conversations between characters seemed too stiff and proper, and a lot of the conversations were entirely too dramatic for my taste. Finally, we learn that outside the secure compound where Allison it stationed, a few of the seven seals have been opened and people are rioting ant starving, and all hell is basically breaking loose. On her trip outside the compound to visit her mother, she sees the destruction of her old home, but other than that I didnt notice anything that led me to believe things were too much worse than before. There were no references to the hardships one would most likely face in those conditions and it made me feel disconnected from the story.
All in all, Power was a good story. I though it had a bit of a Matrix feel to it with the whole "you are the one" scenario, but the actual character doesnt believe it herself. I would recommend this story to those who like to read stories about humans who do the bidding of those in heaven and have to sacrifce their lives to save the world. My score is 3 stars.

POWER follows the story of Allison, a 21-year-old single mother who, after a series of nightmares and painful power outbreaks, learns that she is gifted with power from the archangel Michael.
Now there have been quite a few Good vs. Evil (or Angels vs. Demons) types of books out there these past few years, but the concept of Power was surprisingly refreshing and kept me glued to the pages. Without a doubt, my favorite part about this book was learning about all the different abilities that these descendants of the Primitus had. What's more, I loved reading about how these descendants came to be about, how they became gifted with these special powers--not just them, I also enjoyed learning about how the bad guys, the leaders of the Rising, came to be. In this story, Jones has deftly weaved together elements of known Biblical stories with a touch of the supernatural to create a story that makes me want to jump into its pages and experience it for myself.
This book is written in shifting POVs, mainly between Allison, the main character, and David, the love interest, however there are also chapters told from the perspective of the bad guys. Normally, changing POVs really aren't my cup of tea, but somehow Jones has really made it work, made it into one of the books' strengths. I liked seeing the story unfold from multiple viewpoints and it also gave me more insight into each character's mind. Strangely enough, I ended up really liking reading from the villains' POV.......

This story was definitely interesting and very intriguing. As a mother, I could definitely relate to Allison and her desire to do everything that is needed to make her daughter happy. However, she is stronger than she believes herself to be, which is what I admire about her the most.
Though a set of events she cannot control is unleashed upon her, she does what she needs to keep those she loves safe. It is during this self-discovery process that she realizes not only who she is, but how important she is as well.
I really enjoyed this story because it does not only involve the supernatural, but it shows how strong humans (mothers especially) can be when we have to fight to save ours.
Theresa did an amazing job painting a picture of a person I could totally relate to, and yet, create a world that goes is by far different from the one we actually live in.
The Descendant Trilogy is a series I enjoyed 100% and because of this, I will be picking up more titles from this author.
If you’re looking for a paranormal plotline with unexpected twists and turns, with a strong female lead, and a stimulating/gripping story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the right read for you.
Though a set of events she cannot control is unleashed upon her, she does what she needs to keep those she loves safe. It is during this self-discovery process that she realizes not only who she is, but how important she is as well.

Power is a great debut novel for Theresa Jones. Strange things start happening to Allison, an old acquaintaince comes back into her life and tells her very cryptically about her powers and she's whisked away from everything she knows to train these powers. I liked Allison from the beginning, but I wished we could have gotten a little more background story on her life before the powers. I would have liked to have seen more of her relationship with her fiance so we could see why the relationship was failing. There was just something missing in the beginning for me. But, not to worry, as the story progresses I forgot about what's his name and was pulled into watching her train and the bond forming with David. And her daughter is just precious. I really liked this book and am anxious to see what happens next.

When I first started reading Power I learnt that Allison was a single mum at age 21 which is not the norm for books I just thought to myself when I read it, I was a single mum at 21 too so we had something in common oh and the fact they we are both impatient. I liked this book because Allison is not a stereotypical single mom and her powers have just awakened she is a descendant with Angel Power, who is to save the world against demons. Yes I have read several Angel versus Demon books but this one was fantastic. It was well written, the plot flowed at a great pace and the detailing was great.

Power really resonated with me. I think we all kinda wish we were part of something big and important. And I was a single mom for a long time too.

I am part of a blog tour for the second book Hope at the end of April. I was given the first book by the author to prepare for tour.
Power was an interesting and unique book about a girl who learns about the power that lies within herself and how she is the key to stopping evil unravel in our world. I liked the fact that our heroine was a 21 year old single mother. We don't see that too often in YA/NA books.
Unfortunately that is all I liked about Power. It took me a long time to get into the book, actually I didn't get into it at all. I felt disconnected from the characters and it was rushed in the beginning. I would have liked a little more backstory with Allison. That including her relationship with her fiancé. And just when I think we are finally going to get some answers, he dies! That was a huge disappointment.
The scene when she sees Rick for the first time again after church was a little overdramatic.
As I mentioned earlier the book felt rushed. Some pages I felt myself skimming. And before I knew it, it was over. The characters were flat and I couldn't connect with any of them. I tried very hard connecting with Allison since I had a taste of single motherhood at 21 too. But I could not even connect with her.
