Author Byron Solstice lives an idyllic life; a beautiful girlfriend, a successful writing career, loyal friends and a cute little home with a white picket fence on Prince Edward Island. Or so he thinks.
A manic preoccupation with writing takes a debilitating mental and physical toll on his health and love life with Akila Bartley. Under doctor's orders, he takes a break to try and rekindle the waning romance.
Unexpectedly they witness a two-vehicle crash that leaves his best friend Elias Masters burning alive in a fiery metal grave. Events turn disastrous when, on a leisurely outing with Elias' girlfriend, Susanne Watterton, they discover a strange old man at East Point Lighthouse who promises to resurrect Elias from the dead.
Soon Byron realizes he's pitted against forces far more powerful and destructive than any characters he's ever created in novels.
Along with seasoned Detective Clay Redmond, he embarks on a macabre and epic battle to save his friends and the small island from a terrifying and unspeakable evil.
Canadian dark fiction author William Blackwell studied journalism at Mount Royal University and English literature at The University of British Columbia. He worked as a journalist and a newspaper editor for many years before pursuing his passion for storytelling.
His novels have been characterized as graphic, edgy, and at times terrifying. Currently living on a secluded acreage on Prince Edward Island, Blackwell finds much of his inspiration from Mother Nature, odd people, traveling, and bizarre nightmares.
In addition to penning novels full-time, Blackwell also writes colorful website content.
William Blackwell has a wonderfully dark imagination. Resurrection Point was an entertaining read with an unexpected twist. The latter third of this book was the most entertaining. My sole issue with the storytelling is that there was often a bit too much going in Byron's head. It's easy, as a writer, to get a little too lost in the thoughts of the character with whom you most identify in a tale like this. I suspect that might have been the case with Byron.
Nevertheless, Resurrection Point is worth your time if you enjoy the reanimation of corpses and *gulp* piratey things.
I got this book for free when I signed up to William Blackwell's email list! Firstly, I loved the flow and rhythm of his writing style; it made it difficult to put the book down. Secondly, the story was intriguing and after looking at the synopsis for "The End is Nigh", I definitely plan to continue reading his books- the stories seem to be unique + enjoyable!

This is a stand-alone book but the author has written many other books. What books could this be compared to and why? It is difficult to compare this book to others as it is not my general choice of genre. Recommendation: In summary, I would recommend this book for the following readers:

The story centers around a lighthouse on a tiny island. It begins with the protagonist, Byron, a somewhat obsessive writer of horror stories, having a series of premonitory and chilling nightmares. It culminates into a story of heartbreaking events that are all related somehow, and the choices that a couple of grieving characters make that set a disastrous chain of events in motion. Byron, who has lost his best friend in a car accident right before his eyes, knows that somehow both his dreams and the events following his friend’s death are related, though what the connection truly is eludes him until the end of the story.
Resurrection Point is part horror story, part zombie story, and part ghost story. It offers some fiery religious underpinnings at the end in a classic good vs evil showdown. It’s a well-crafted page-turner with absorbing stories within the main theme of the book, and likable characters. I was left with the amusing impression that the author likes the ladies… especially the buxom ones. I found the final scenes a little too bloody and graphic for my tastes, but appreciated the brilliant ending that left the door open to a sequel.
A fun tale that starts out with Pet Sematary vibes but escalates quickly. When an old man has the opportunity to resurrect his recently dead wife he jumps at the chance. Even though it was a ghost pirate that gives him the chance. Of course it goes badly and others are being killed and ressurected. A grizzled detective and a horror writer find themselves trying to find answers to seriously screwy events.
Highly recommended, the story moves at a nice quick pace and keeps your interest. Enjoyed the folktale of the flaming pirate ship that ends up being involved in the craziness.
