Short Story (5000 words) Prequel to Deliver Us Genre(s): Contemporary Gay As Darrek reluctantly prepares for prom night, Kyle watches on with amusement. Darrek is frustrated with Kyle's lack of interest in bringing a girl to the prom and staying by his side, but Kyle is unphased by his best friend's increasingly strange emotional responses. Lynn Kelling began writing in order to tell stories that aren’t afraid of the dark, don’t hold anything back and always strive to be memorable, forging lasting attachments between character and reader. Her inspiration comes from taking a closer look at behaviors and ideas lurking at the fringes of life—basically anything that people may hesitate to speak of in mixed company, but everyone wonders about anyway. Her work is driven by the taboo in order to expose the humanity within it. Lynn is an artist, designer and lover of any form of creative self-expression that comes from a place of honesty and emotion, whether it's body art or opera. She has had multiple novels published, has written over fifty works of erotic fiction of varying lengths, and always has several novels in progress.
Oh, this made me so sad all over again. Knowing why Kyle draws into himself, why he doesn't tell Dare the truth about Nicky. Also, why Dare reacts the way he does... How confused Dare must have been back then. And now, knowing what I know in their present. Damn. I'm going to have to re-read the books again soon.
A short story that provides a brief insight into Darrek and Kyle and their friendship back when they are at school. I read this before starting Deliver Us but found I appreciated it better when I re-read it once I was a few chapters in to Deliver Us. As it is only a short story (<20 pages) this was easy to do.
Oh Kyle..you naughty boy.....Loved the use of the name Nicky..could be boy or girl....Even though this was a short read I felt sorry for Darrek.....I love him with Gabriel but knowing that Kyle is his first love.....makes me love Gabriel all the more....x
I didn't realize that this is just a teaser for Kelling's Deliver Us series. It's a prequel written after the start of the series. It certainly shows promise.
