I thought Gage and I were destined to be together forever.
Until he rejected me and abandoned our pack.

I found my fated mate over twenty years ago,
But got impatient waiting for him to admit his feelings.
In my infinite teen wisdom,
I cast a love spell to give him a nudge.
But my plan failed miserably when I botched it,
And Gage rejected me in front of our whole pack instead.
My dating history has been hilariously bad ever since,
So between my exhausting job as an ER nurse
And my duties as the Glenwood pack healer,
I’d resigned myself to becoming a crazy old spinster wolf witch.
Until Gage is rushed into the ER one night,
Unconscious and badly hurt.
The docs don’t think he’ll make it,
But they don’t know I’ve got magic on my side.
As he’s caught in limbo, I try to bring him back from the brink,
But he’s too far gone, and my wolf howls in agony.
Until suddenly, he calls my name.
Now that he’s back, will he break my heart all over again,
Or is fate finally giving us a second chance at forty?

Steamy shifter love scenes and an HEA inside! No cheating or cliffhanger in this standalone romance. Readers 18+.

I've liked Dawn since the first book, but she kind of annoyed me in this book.

Gage has had it rough for the past twenty years. Struggling with a spell gone wrong, he's been struggling with guilt over actions he made, he's still not sure what went wrong. It's led to some really poor decisions, that contribute to him landing in Dawn's ER.

She nurses him back to health. Finds him sleeping in his car & offers him her spare room. Then she tries to fix the bad spell (without talking to Gage). Sigh ... then it's a lot of back together ... how could you?!?, ok, I think we can try ... to TRAITOR ... to HERO!!

Oy, it felt very high school. They very much picked up right where they left off, and all the angst & drama with it.

I enjoyed the last bit at the end though. I love with the Pack comes together to deal with whatever's thrown at them.

Overall, just OK for me.

An enjoyable read with Shifters and mates, and trouble around every corner. Nothing will keep these mates apart except miscommunication.

The pages kept turning because I wanted to know what happened.

These books are quick and easy reads.

Rejected Midlife Wolf is the fourth title in the Shifter Nation: Marked Over Forty series. Dawn has played a part in each of the earlier stories; as a nurse and the pack’s healer, she has a vital role. One that is of a powerful witch and shifter who stands firmly behind her own powers. But there once was a different Dawn, and two lifetimes sort of combine in this story… that of the younger, impatient, impulsive Dawn, and the Dawn of today who is finally facing her actions from the past. It’s not going to be easy, but it is beyond time to acknowledge her part in the way that Gage’s life has turned out. Oh, it wasn’t only Dawn who had an impact on events, but she was the impatient one who had to act then and not wait for events to play out naturally.

Gage was part of Dawn’s pack. She was the alpha’s daughter, and he and his family were certainly not at the top level that many others in their pack were. With a father who constantly blamed others for his place within the pack (even though it was by his own actions), voicing his opinion constantly on the romance between Gage and Dawn — and Dawn’s assistance upon hearing words that he felt pressured to say out loud, Gage was placed between a rock and a hard place every moment of his younger life. He knew that Dawn was his mate, but he didn’t feel the need to proclaim it to the world or his girl every single day. It wasn’t his way. Then one day, that connection just wasn’t there anymore; he couldn’t feel that special spark with his mate at all. Unfortunately, he picked the worst possible time to announce that to Dawn… and life went downhill from there.

Now, they’ve come back into each other’s life again. Gage has made some horrible decisions, especially in his associates. And he will pay for that. Dawn will have the chance to correct a wrong, not only to have her mate come back to her but because it’s the right, if dangerous, thing to do. Gage has suffered long enough with the effects of her spell gone wrong, it’s time to try to fix it. But every action has consequences, as they will soon discover.

Gage and Dawn’s story is painful on so many levels. An impatient teen has changed the course of two lives… or has she? I can’t help but wonder what the outcome might have been for so many people if they had not been separated by that spell for so many years. Right now, there is extreme danger lurking in the shadows, headed for Dawn’s pack. And she has a choice – trust her mate or not. That decision will decide the course of the rest of her life.

Rejected Midlife Wolf is a well-written, emotional, steamy, and thought-provoking story that kept me on edge throughout. I understood both sides of the situation and hurt for both Dawn and Gage. I confess that I didn’t “like” Dawn as much in this story, perhaps because we learned of her actions as a younger woman. I loved the story, it’s simply that my opinion of one of the secondary characters in this series has changed just a bit.

Their Bumpy Ride To A Second Chance -
Dawn thought she would never get a chance to be with her mate Gage, after her rejected her in public, but fate brought him back into her life again. She decided to use the opportunity to rectify a problem she caused when they were younger, but just as they were embarking on a relationship, Gage found out her secret before she could tell him and flipped out on her.

Unfortunately, Gage’s anger led him down a path that put Dawn and her pack in danger, but he luckily realised his mistake and his love for Dawn, before any harm occurred. He decided to use the opportunity to his benefit and garner information. However, Dawn found out about what he was doing before he could tell her and this caused a misunderstanding between them. Luckily, he was able to get them back on track towards their forever, after he helped Dawn and her pack get rid of the problem.

This was a beautifully written, emotional, second chance story, that had me completely captivated from the first page. Once I started reading this awesome page turner, I just couldn’t stop until I reached the end. I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose books I highly recommend.

This book pulled on my heart strings when all you want is to be loved. Dawn is a wolf / witch shifter and an ER Nurse and is the Glenwood pack healer and has always known that Gage is her fated mate but he is dragging his feet to officially bonded with her so she casts a love spell on him but it backfires and his wolf doesn’t recognize her as his mate and he rejects her in front of the whole pack and she is devastated and can’t undo what she done. Gage is a wolf shifter who always new that Dawn was his mate but when his wolf rejects her and so does he but it doesn’t feel right but he walks away from it all even the pack. It’s been 20yrs since she last seen Gage and now he is in her ER and they don’t think he will make it but Dawn uses her magic to save him and when he calls out her name she takes him to her home to look after him and now she wonders if she should undo the spell from there past. Gage is still drawn to Dawn and when his wolf wants her too now they start a long overdue relationship and its hot and steamy but not everyone is happy about them being together because he is a rogue and her pack attacked him. How does it all turn out, get this book to find out if they get the HEA in the end.

Not as good as I expected. Too many years wasted with no good reason.
Too much juvenile behaviour with the tooing and froing and distrust.
Dawn was totally in the wrong twenty years ago and why the heck has she waited TWENTY years to rectify what she did. She hasn’t even been honest with her brothers.
Then she acts like a hormone ridden idiot. Has sex with Cage BEFORE explaining what she had done, both times.
So wrong on too many counts.
Then not listening to Cage, after yelling at him for not listening to her apology.
Cage was the wronged party.
His life path was changed by Dawns childish and selfish actions.
Cage had led a troubled life and seems to have nothing, no home, no life and has made some truly bad decisions due to feeling alone without a pack.
Though he does have an awesome dog in Bella.
Some of the problems also stem from his father's attitude.
But he should have gone straight to the pack alpha and told him about the Untamed’s plans, rather than try to handle it on his own.
Then Dawn wouldn’t have seen and heard him with the Untamed and thought the worst.
Cannot say I felt any real connection between them as we get a lot of diversity in how they behave.

Story: Dawn (h) cast a love spell two decades ago to nudge her wolf shifter fated mate Gage (H) into admitting his feelings, only it disastrously backfired, leading to public rejection and years of heartache. Now, as an ER nurse and pack healer, she’s resigned herself to a solitary life—until a critically injured Gage is rushed into her ER, barely clinging to life. Despite the pain of the past, Dawn can't help but use her healing magic to save him. As Gage slowly recovers under her care, old feelings reignite, and Dawn sees a chance to undo her past wrongs. Their journey back to one another is filled with danger as external threats from rogue wolves and unresolved pack tensions loom. Hot and steamy, emotionally charged, midlife, second chance wolf shifter romance with plenty of angst, dangers, drama, tension, feels, and more.

Audio: Narrator Elle Sonali does a great job with Dawn and other female voices, and a pretty good job with male voices - while I personally prefer a female narrator is used to voice female voices, and a male narrator for male voices, I think Sonali did one of the best overall jobs as a single narrator that I've listened to in quite a while. The audio quality is good and there were no issues.

Rejected Midlife Wolf is my first in this series to read but not my first by Meg Ripley. If you've read one of her amazing shifter romances this one won't disappoint. I would also say this one had a really interesting story plot and also excellent spice 🔥 making it one you will be invested in the characters and be excited to experience them in other stories in the series. I did not read the prior novels and that did not negatively impact my experience and I could see where this one possibly nodded to their stories but it just made me excited to go back and read them.

FML Dawn and ML Gage feel realistic and dynamic which is something I appreciate and it doesn't hurt that they are more relatable as a 30 year old woman myself.

Their story brings tropes of fated mates, second chances, communication issues, nursing and witchcraft.

Dawn and Gage are mates but she did a spell that backfired and his wolf rejected her. Twenty years later they may get another chance if she can pull him back from near death. Glad she was working that day at the hospital. Reconnecting after so long with so many burned bridges between and around them is going to take time. With the Untamed trying to take over and forcing Gage to do something, the tension and danger is mounting faster than ever.
The characters have great backstories, determination, strength and protectiveness. The storyline has drama, danger, twists, surprises, forgiveness, revelations, Bella the wonder dog, powers and spells, hidden agendas, reconnecting of families and much more. Loved their chemistry and the resilience they have to keep going. The ending was perfect and I still want more. Hope the next book comes quickly.

Story- I liked this one. I have enjoyed all of this author’s midlife love stories so far. I like the nod to the fact that characters may be older, but that just makes them more seasoned. I liked these characters, although they frustrated me sometimes, and when I get that involved, I know it’s a good book.
Narration- the narrator was clear and easy to understand, but TBH I prefer it when D.C. Cole is the narrator. I get more into the story faster with his voice, I don’t know why.

Dawn is the Alpha's sister, she is a witch and wolf shifter and works as a nurse at the local hospital. When her ex and fated mate Gage is brought into the ER after being attacked, it brings back memories of what happened between them as teenagers. Dawn had wanted Gage to confess his feelings, she knew they were mates, but the love spell she cast backfired and caused Gage to reject her.
Dawn is determined to undo the spell and the hex it seems to have placed on them, which goes great at first, but what happens when Gage realises that she has used magic on him. Will he be able to trust her and what happens when the rogue pack he was living with decides to attack Dawn's pack. Will he put aside his hurt to help keep Dawn and her pack safe.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

I loved the narration of Elle Sonali, who brings the emotions, angst, action , characters and heat to your ears

When Dawn and Gage had been younger, they had been fated mates. Believing an action that she did made Gage, rejected her in public, but fate brought him back into her life again. Taking the the chance Dawn used this opportunity to correct her mistake she made when younger. problem she caused when they were younger. When Gage finds out her secret before she can tell him he gets very angry.
Gage’s anger has led him down a path that has put Dawn and her pack in danger. When Gage sees his mistake and his love for Dawn he does everything he can do to protect her and the pack.
With the all the misunderstanding these two fight to find their love and keep the pack safe..

One spell can change the course of your life.

Dawn Glenwood knows Gage Edwards is her mate. Her impatience as a young girl drives her to use magic that backfires and she looses him forever. Gage’s own belief about himself and a spell he had no knowledge of left him our of the pack and lost for most of his life.

A mysterious meeting brings everything back and gives Dawn the courage to try and fix her mistakes. Just as things seem to be back on track Gage’s past comes back to not just destroy them but to destroy the pack.

These are relatable characters who are just trying to fix past mistakes. Bella is a great source of comedic relief. Their HEA is worth the angst and I would highly recommend this story.

There were so many things that went wrong in this book beginning with Dawn's mistake when she and Gage were young. I felt for Gage as to how that and his father's attacks on his ego affected his life. Dawn had a good heart and meant no harm with the things she had done. I remembered her from the previous book and her magic and as a healer were awesome in that book and this one. She was a special lady.

Trust is a big issue in this story and it has to be earned on both sides. Even though Gage and Dawn are fated mates, the path is definitely not a smooth one. Bella stole the show in more ways than one. Gage was lucky to have her.

The best was left for last as there was a HEA for all.

I love this series. Each book is very different from the previous one. The characters well described. I love HEAs and this story had a better than expected one. I could feel the angst and conflict between the two.
I loved Dawn and Gage. What they went through as teenagers and then later in life was easy to envision .
Fate and Selene play a major role in their life . I love Joan's widsom and encouragement.
I loved how everything seemed to eventually "click" together.
Gage had his own problems and how he solved them was unconventional. Certainly not the direct route, but that also made for an interesting part of the story.
HEA of course. No cliffhanger. Loved the action and steamy romance.

Dawn is shocked to find a badly injured Gage in the ER where she works.
Wolf shifter Dawn is a pack healer and a fully trained nurse. She is shocked to see Gage her mate who had rejected her as a teenager wheeled into ER badly torn up and in human terms not expected to live. The team got him sewn up and into ICU as quickly as they could but he was still unconscious. Dawn stays behind to use some of her magic to start his healing. This starts the story of two people who are looking to make up for the past. It is a tense tale with looks of friction between two packs and the fate of the characters. I found it an enjoyable adventure romance that kept my attention thoughout the book.

Youth, beauty and thought of tomorrow. Sometimes the choices we make then are what profoundly change the course of our lives. We are also more easily influenced then too not quite having get gained our full sense of self. So there is something to be said for age and wisdom. You get to see how waiting a while or even leaving something to grow organically is always going to be better than trying to push things. Sometimes while your aim is bring it closer you only achieve in sending it further away. This is what happend with Dawn and Gage. Added that when it got put right all it then did was open up a chasm that a very fragile trust fell into. You can always apologise but trust is so hard to get back. I loved these two, both stubborn at time but big enough to admit that they were wrong.

I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting from the start and I was completely hooked. The rejected mate trope is one I read about less often, but I really liked it here- and thought the cause of it unique and fascinating. I liked both Gage and Dawn. Both have made mistakes that have consequences- but none more so than one Dawn made as an impatient teenager that messed up both their lives rather than the happy outcome she expected. They have unresolved history, and bad communication. It was a hard won happy ending.

Elle Sonali did a wonderful job with her narration of this book and bringing these characters to life. I find that I like her work more and more with every new book I hear.

Performance: 5 stars

We’ve met Dawn in the previous books and she’s one of my favourite characters. Strong with an iron will, she’s not a witch to be trifled with. We learn that she had found her mate during her teenage years but Gage had rejected her. Fate brings them back together and the road sure is not easy for them. Everything seems to work against them and trust won’t come easily. Both Dawn and Gage have secrets that threaten everything: treason and tragedy will pave the way before they finally get their HEA. Loved the action and all the twists and turns: read it in one sitting!.

Great Read!

A mistake she made years ago lost her Gage her one true mate. Saving his life she knew she needed to right the wrong she made.

Gage had wandered for years and regretted leaving the pack but after rejecting Dawn, he could not stay.

A heartfelt romantic shifter read full of action, emotion and misunderstanding which keeps you glued to the pages with wonderful characters and a special place in my heart for Bella.

Well worth a read, you’ll go through the highs and lows of the storyline until you reach their HEA.

As teenagers they knew they were fated, but impatience and a spell gone wrong tore them apart - Dawn, the Glenwood alpha's daughter and Gage.
Now, 20 years later they meet again and fate intervenes to give them a second chance. But the Glenwood pack is under threat from a rogue group of wolves....
A thrilling story, and although part of a series within the Shifter Nations books, it can be read as a stand-alone.
Knowing some of the other books makes it a deeper read though, as one is familiar with a lot of the characters in the story.

"What if there had been other consequences, ones she didn’t know about?"

Dawn did something a bit foolish as a teen, born of impatience and love, and she's laid the price ever since -- so has Gage.

Gage is a wolf without a pack, at the moment, and when his loyalties are tested he finds himself questioning what others say, and his own beliefs as he looks at things with fresh eyes.

This done in one Kindle Unlimited book is a great story about how our beliefs and assumptions can influence our perception of the world around us, and how little miscommunications can turn in to big situations.

Another sweet romance from Meg Ripley. I couldn’t stop listening to this book it had Ripley’s usual flare of suspense. It was such a sad beginning with mates torn apart because of a family’s misguided opinions. Then a misunderstanding keeping them apart.
I love Ripley’s way of writing how she makes you feel so attached to the characters and I couldn’t stop listening to it to find out if they do eventually get together. I loved the fight scene and how Gage and Bella fight the enemy!! It had me shouting out go Bella!! I cried and laughed throughout this book and didn’t want it to end.
Would highly recommend this book.

I really liked the book 'Rejected Midlife Wolf' by Meg Ripley. This story had a good storyline filled with action and romance. Two lovers almost lost their chance to be together twenty years before when fate had dealt them a cruel blow, but they find themselves both fighting for a second chance at love in the present day. That, along with rogue invaders trying to bring harm to their clan and usurp its rule make for a riveting read.

Twenty years is a long time to wait for a second chance, but sometimes it’s worth the wait.
Dawn and Gage finally get their second chance, but it comes with its own problems and misunderstandings, plus a rogue pack is causing trouble for everyone.
This was a great story; the characters and their problems were well fleshed out and understandable. There is a second chance at romance and it also deals with forgiving yourself sympathetically, a great read.

I loved Rejected Midlife Wolf Book 4 of Marked Over Forty. Gage rejected Dawn 20 years ago but he doesn’t know it was her fault with the help of a little magic. Now it’s her chance to correct her mistake but that just ends up creating a bigger mess. Dawn can’t win. Now another pack is threatening and she doesn’t know to trust Gabe or not. This is a sweet second chance story with a little bit if drama and a lot of love. I loved the storyline and the characters. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

Dawn and Gage had been in love and mates but after she had done a spell to see if they were really mates, his wolf didn’t recognize her as his mate anymore. He ended joining a pack after that but then went lone wolf, got attacked by the pack he left. Dawn helped stitch him up in the ER as she was a nurse hen she found out that he was homeless she offered him her guest room. Dawn decided to reverse the spell after 20 years of being alone, his wolf wanted her again. Good book!.

Dawn and Gage's Story . . .

Dawn and Gage were destined to be mates and love each other. But Dawn went ahead and performed a spell to verify the fact that they were truly mates and get him to acknowledge their love. It backfired on her because Gage’s wolf no longer saw her as his mate and he ended up rejecting her. Can the spell be reversed? Is it too late to correct her mistake? Or will Fate offer her a second chance when she stitches his wounds as an ER nurse and takes him home to recover?

Meg Ripley's stories always make me happy, and this story is no different. The characters were great and it was also about a second chance at love because things didn't go the way they should have years ago. Will they now take a second chance at love and try to make amends for the past and present. If you like Rejected or Fated Mate stories then Meg Ripley's books are definitely recommended, I think you will enjoy reading her stories.
