A summer at idyllic Northbrook Academy might be boring, if you were anyone but Lainey Young. In between working three jobs, spending time with her boyfriend Carter, and worrying—about the shocking end to her junior year and more—she’s busy enjoying every beach within a day’s drive. On the most perfect day of summer, Carter surprises her with an unplanned trip to the shore, and Lainey almost succeeds in letting all her worries go.
But no matter how much she wants to, the one thing she can never escape is her Sententia heritage—and the visions of impending death that come with it. At the beach, an unexpected vision propels Lainey into action, but she needs help. Together, can Lainey and Carter save a friend?
Includes a BONUS 15 page scene from Carter Penrose’s point of view!
Cara is a former middle school literacy teacher who now lives in the woods outside Boston with: one awesome husband, two large dogs, one small daughter, and lots of words. LOST IN THOUGHT is her first novel and was one of three finalists for the 2011 Amazon/Penguin Breakthrough Novel Award in the Young Adult category.
Na ez jó rövid volt. Egy kis nyári szösszenet. Tengerpart, nyári munka, szerelem, életmentés, és egy bónusz Carter szemszögéből. De rohadt rövid volt, lehetett volna az egész Carter szemszögéből.
This delightful short story (actually a pair thereof--bonus content!) holds important clues for readers of the series. If read as a standalone one would need to simply accept some of the Sententia references as being part of another universe, but read in order, the bonus fills in nicely some of the details of book 1 (think "enrichment"); the "Afterthought," however, adds a few details that will, I'm sure, add to the pleasure of the next book(s)--yes, I am about to dig into book 2 (won't you join me?).
