The mysterious Society is coming for my city, my people, and me.
Big mistake.
I'm not sure if they want to take me or to kill me, but either way, they're going to get a fight.
And then there's Alex Peche.
I can deal with the attempts on my life, the obsessive vampire master, and the angry wolf, but Alex Peche? The white-haired jerk owns me for the next six months. I'm almost tempted to let the Society kill me so I won't have to look at his ugly face again.
Unsurprisingly, he has an ulterior motive for forcing me to work for him. Shocker.
Beneath his deception and manipulation, though, lies a desperation he can't hide. He believes I am the only one who can help him fight a battle we will have to win to keep the Society from taking over our world. They want to create a world in which the humans are controlled by the supernaturals...
Laken was first published in 2008. After a few exciting years with her publishers, she struck out on her own to write the now complete Rune Alexander series, and never looked back.
She shares her Ohio home with three spoiled dogs, two fish, and a tenacious African Violet. She drinks too much coffee and continues burning up the keys of her trusty laptop, getting the stories out of her head and into her readers' hands.
Kory continues to outdo herself with the Bat McCall series! Bat continues to grow and becomes ever more scary to the bad guys. Can’t wait for book four!
Wow! I don’t know where to start. My jaw is on the floor. Bat literally has the weight of the whole world on her shoulders. She’s a bad ass but she really does have a beautiful heart. We’ve now learned so much about each of these characters. I feel like I know them. I’m cheering so hard for Bat after this ending but my whole heart kinda hurts for her. It’s a beautiful nightmare disaster and yet I can’t get enough. There’s going to be so much change because of this book. I’m not sure many of the changes will be good. But I’m still cheering!
The similarities with Shiv Crew are too similar. The repetitive info is f-ing annoying. How many times doe we have to be told “the hunter community is small.” Pretty sure it’s been at least 3 times in this book alone.
There’s no slow burn because there’s no romance. At all.
Looking at the plot of the next one, and the reviews, I’m not at all interested in reading it. It looks like instead of progressing anything, now we’re gonna go off on a tangent with the characters.
Hard pass for me. I honestly wouldn’t reco this series.
I'm really loving this series! Every character is so fleshed out, and interesting. I love the world building here too, it's so encompassing.. All of the romantic interests are unique, and compelling. I really, really hope this turns into an RH because I can't pick a favorite, and I hope doesn't either.. It's going to feel like a really long wait for book 4.
Just when things are looking dim, they get even darker! Struggling with her own emotions Bat gets bombarded with even more...She IS MORE! Beyond her own comprehension, Bat discover just how much MORE she is. have the tissue box close by and prepare for tears, laughter and sitting at the edge of your seat for a page turning adventure.
The first two books were interesting, with unique concepts. This last one went kind of "far out" for me in the last half - not sure I will bother with any more in the series, outside of the fact they are read for free on Kindle so... maybe? But... let's just say things got a little too weird for me LOL
This series is so good! The story sucked me right in from start to finish and the characters are what keeps me wanting more. I still think Bat's father is a world class douche though.
Excellent writing, fascinating world building, engrossing story arc and absolutely wonderful characters. Complex and intelligent. Who could ask for anything more?!?
