Inger Margaret Foster

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Inger has lived in the US for most of her life. She grew up in a small town in Northern New Jersey, where the passion for reading led to a lifetime of writing. Inger has always thought of herself as a storyteller, rather than an author. To her, the story itself is the most important part of a book, and she avoids penning excessive pages filled with unnecessary detail. With short, easy to read chapters, and concise descriptive passages, she hopes to rapidly draw readers into the worlds that she has created.

Inger holds a Masters Degree in Arts and Education. She has written ten books, in nine volumes, for The Circles of the Soul series. In addition, she collaborated with Cathlyn A. Driscoll to create two children’s books (available only in print), both derived from the storylines set in two of the books in the series. Sitting outside of the series is the romantic ghost story, Always Just Beyond. This book-within-a book presents a whole new cast of characters, with a storyline connected to the 1850s house that she and her husband recently renovated in New England. Inger is a mother and a grandmother, and is currently involved in the creation and development of screenplays with JNAK Productions.

Inger's Y/A novel, Elke's Magic, is now a screenplay, beautifully written by Daina Ann Smith. It is currently in pre-production.

The point of historical fiction is to take you to some time in the past and live it. This story definitely does that and more! I'm old enough to remember much of what went on back in the 70s. I also remember when President Ronald Reagan told Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin wall. But never did it have the impact as it did in this amazing tale of a couple separated by it and the horrible policies that were in place when East and West Berlin were separated, a situation that resulted at the end of WWII when Russia got East Germany and the allies got West Germany.

I'm glad that I read "Elke's Magic" first, though it's not required. Nonetheless, it gives you a glimpse of the situation and you get to know the main character. You can also understand why she missed her little cottage back in the States. When she was washing dishes in her humble apartment and remembering the dried herbs hanging above her sink in here little house I could so totally relate since when I lived in Texas I was able to grow a multitude of fresh herbs that I dried in the house. I hope to be able to do so again, though some won't survive where I live now where it's so much colder.

I absolutely loved this story and it touched me deeply. I read it in a single sitting, unable to put it down. Highly recommended to understand what the people in Germany went through during those dark and trying years.

Had such a lovely time reading, Inger, Margaret Foster‘s newest book, The Wall Between. After reading the other books in the series, I had often wondered about the backstory between Elke and her husband, Werner, now all my questions have been answered, and I must say done so beautifully. The book and story are basically a simple one, but very endearing. I love reading Inger‘s books. They are not very long and could probably be read in just a few short hours however, I relish each and every page and tend to savor the book while I read it. Thank you Inger for taking me back in time again. Elke has a special place in my heart, and I am looking forward to the movie of Elke’s Magic.
