A Friend in Need, a Daring Heist, and a Ruthless Robbery Crew That’s not Going Back to Prison.

Lo Walsh had given up the PI life after the Bobby Lee Kinsey case.

But his notoriety draws the attention of an old mentor.

But the simple background check soon takes a sinister turn and Lo finds himself mired in a twisted web of deception and revenge that brings him face-to-face with his new profession’s dark side.

Now Lo must reevaluate his commitment to this case.

Can he provide the help his old friend wants without exposing a murky past? How does he walk away with so much at stake?

My name is Thad Diaz. I was a Tampa Bay firefighter until I retired in 2021 with 25 years of service. I wrote sci-fi and fantasy as T. Allen Diaz, but I've always been a fan of hard-boiled mysteries. Now that I no longer ride fire trucks, I can tell my Tampa-based detective tales without concerns for my
career.

The Cigar City Case Files is based in Tampa. Its stories occur in actual or fictionalized places tailored to this great city. The tales display its glorious beauty and gritty underbelly as only a native can. I still live in the Tampa Bay area with my wife, two of my kids and a house full of dogs.

Tampa Heat is only the first in a series I hope will span into the double digits. Follow me online and join my email list for the Tampa Heat prequel, Temple Terrace Badger Game today.

Lo Walsh, Tampa Fire Captain/PI moonlighter, can’t help but get himself into messes.

Going through a nasty divorce, housing his recovering injured father, he takes on a case for an old mentor to help pay for said nasty divorce.

Thad Diaz is building his MMC in each book of the series, a dynamic character that is trying to be a divorced dad, waging war with the exe, trying to help his dad after a fire in book 1, a mother-son relationship with his separated parents, a tense no trust relationship with his FD boss, and his quid pro quo’s with TPD to list a few conflicts.

And then throw in some private investigator work that puts him on the wrong end with some baddies, a twist you don’t suspect and you have an adrenaline filled fire suspense novel!

Great book!

Love his books. Holds my interest from the beginning and can't wait for more. I live in Virginia but have very dear friends in Land O Lakes, so I've had the pleasure of visiting Tampa on several occasions. So his books hold a special place in my heart. Especially on a cold, dreary day when his writing takes me warm, sunny Tampa. Superb writing with plenty of twists and turns to keep you coming back for more.
