This was a very quick, easy and light read that is sure to tickle your fancy or something else.

I personally don't normally read books like this because I thought it was a new adult but I got the feeling from the very beginning it was more of an adult romance book. Nothing new adult about it really because I don't think they mentioned the ages of the characters. Regardless it was a little more than I was expecting in one way and less in another. The story is a general story which I love to read about how a best friend loves a girl, girl finally is alone and has a chance to be with that best friend. I know you know the story and it's always fun to watch when realization hits the other person. Because you know they are friends for a reason, because they so obviously belong together.

This is what the book was about, and of course you have the ever jealous ex that he doesn't realize what he has until it's gone, or going or was there something else going on with him. Typical story that always gets me going. Only thing is I wasn't too fond on the way the characters talked, and I couldn't really connect with any of the characters, they felt forced and wishy washy which is annoying sometimes. Just do it already, you know what I mean. I just didn't get attached to the characters and couldn't genuinely root for them because I already knew what was going to happen I didn't have to.

Overall quick, easy ready that will get your temperature rising.

*I received a free e copy of this book via International Girls YA Book Club in exchange for an honest review.*

I felt like this story had the potential to be good but fell short. The characters needed a lot more development and the book needed a lot more editing. This books is about Whitney who is in a 4 year relationship with Brent. Brent breaks off their engagement. Whitney finds comfort in her friend Jason who has been secretly harboring feelings for her over the course of their friendship.

I had problems with this book from page one. For Whitney, I felt like she was so dumb. Was she supposed to be that dumb? In the very first scene Brent breaks off their engagement. She immediately flies off the handle (which is understandable) cursing him and leaves the house to dine alone. Not once does she ask him the question that would have been front and center in any woman's mind..."Why?" She just gets pissed, accepts it, and leaves. Not long after that she finds herself at a bar where she calls her best friend Jason to come and keep her company. While sitting at the bar he flirts with her because that's what everyone would do when trying to comfort an attractive friend, right? But what's worse is that she also flirts with him. Just hours after having her engagement broken by the man that she loved. Another problem I had with Whitney is that the author went out of her way to make Whitney appear to be a beautiful, put together, classy kind of girl. She fell short. Whitney has it together until someone does something that she doesn't like and then she instantly turns into ghetto Whitney with the sailor tongue. It was strange for me.

Jason-- Jason had the potential to be a really great character. He was sweet, and strong, and good looking. But then you add in stuff like momma's boy and stalker and you have yet another character who needs work. He seemed so gurdy to me. He was supposed to be comforting her and the whole time he was staring at her ass-ets and stalking her at work and buying her innapropriate outfits and hounding her about going to a family wedding with him and having a picture of them together as his pc's wallpaper. He could have been a good strong male character in this story but then the author has him saying things like Hey girrrl, and Miss Lady, and buying her dresses because he knew the latest fashions and what she liked to wear. What guy knows that?

One more issue I would like to address is the dialogue in this story. It's listed as a New Adult book but it seems very childish. A few examples...1. The author uses the term boob. Often. 2. Jason fantasizes about "sucking her neck and kissing her moles". Weird. 3. There was a small part in there about draining the lizard lol. I haven't heard that one in a while. 4. Jason compares Whitney to white chocolate oreos when she wears white. And last but definitely not least 5. I thought this sentence was a little strange "He loved her smile and the way her eyes danced when she was about to eat" I'm sure Whitney would agree with me when I say that no woman wants a man to notice the way her eyes dance when she's about to eat.

All in all I don't want to take away from the story. It does have a lot of potential it's just not quite there. Take the time and do a little tweaking. It will definitely be worth it in the end.

Synopsis:
New Adult Contemporary Romance Novella
Approx. 115pgs
For Mature Audiences 18+ due to strong language and sexual content

Jason Tuckerman is tired of being the single guy at the family functions, but the only woman he wants on his arm is engaged to another man. His brother's wedding is in two weeks, and he wishes his best friend, Whitney Ryan, would go with him.
After moving to New York to be with her fiancé, Brent, he breaks up with her! Now Whitney's stuck in a lease with a man who doesn't want her, and can't see any way out. She's drowning her sorrows at a bar when she thinks of Jason, and after too many cocktails, decides to give him a fateful call.

**Warning - Spoilers below**

My thoughts:

The story is about Whitney's breakup with her fiance, and her using her 'best friend' Jason as her main support after it happens. Jason is secretly in love with Whitney and has been since day 1. He tries to help her through this rough time, but also then admits his feelings for her and his desire to pursue a relationship together.

Though this story is written as a Novella, it really needed additional character development.
You don't read much about the fiance Brent, other than that he is a cheating, lying, douchebag.
Jason is half-stalker/half best-friend with his online trolling tendencies, but could be a really likable character if developed further. I did get a little bit tired of reading how 'perfect' he thought Whitney was at every turn. Only because it was all. the. time.
The MC, Whitney needs some serious work in my opinion. I felt like the characters (Brent, Whitney and Jason) were having the same conversation the entire book. I really felt like shaking her when she was incapable of actually making a decision with how to proceed with her life after this breakup. Then the fact that she needed "a sign" to know which man to love (a choice between the best friend who was always there for her, and the cheating-lying-douchebag) made me *literally* roll my eyes. And THEN, she only makes her decision when she invades Brent's computer and looks at his chat/email history with the home-wrecker...just to find out he had (gasp!) been lying to her again! Yeah, I didn't connect well to the MC.
Also, this is labelled as 18+ for language and sexual content. Just know there is no actual sex involved anywhere. The only 'sex scenes' are thoughts that one character may be having and in dream sequences. Some are fairly explicit, but they did not incite any swoon-factor for me.

I will try to reign in my snark, however. Though I think the characters needed more development, and I question some of the story line choices/motivations...the writing was not all bad. It's a quick vanilla read.

****MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS****

Not quite sure what to say about this book. It was pretty much a drawn out "should I stay or should I go" situation. Whitney has been with her boyfriend/fiancee, Brent, for four years and he suddenly calls off their engagement on their anniversary. She immediately runs straight into her best friend Jason's arms (who, if you ask me, hits an 8.5 on the stalker scale). He's loved her since the day they met and obviously is over the moon when he hears the news.

I don't know if it was the writing or if it was just the character, but Jason immediately set off my gaydar. Very "hey girrrlll" and keeps up with whatever the latest fashion trend is.

Whitney, ugh, if you were so shocked by the bomb Brent dropped, then you wouldn't be so quick to get over him. "He's my first love, my first heart break"... really.... could have fooled me!

Brent, he didn't really have a character really. So I can really comment on him.

Overall, I personally think this could use a few more rounds of intense edit sessions. The characters need a lot more developing and I felt like it was page after page of the same conversation. Whitney got in. fight with Brent, calls Jason and tells him the play by play, Jason tells his mom or whoever else the play by play, etc. ect.

It's a very, VERY vanilla story to say the least.

My Opinion
This book was terribly disappointing. I expected a lot after reading the blurb and title. The book started to quick/fast. Everything felt abrupt, rushed and lose.

I didn't like much about the book but it isn't so horrible that I wanted to cry (which is why it's not rated 1 star)

The story could have been a lot better and more interesting.

If you like best friends-to-lovers kind of story then this might appeal to you.The heroine is a beautiful and sexy woman who is engaged, has a hottie of a best friend who is secretly in love with her. On the fourth year of her anniversary the fiance called off their engagement. She found out that he has been cheating on her for the last six months.Brokenhearted she found solace in the arms of her best friend. However spending time with him awakened feelings that were dormant before. Some sex scenes are quite explicit but no actual sex involved only through the heroine's imagination. As this is going to be a novella I believed the characters needed more development. The writing isn't all bad. It's a book that won't belong to my i-can't put-it-down list but it's a nice and quick read for me.

I received a free copy of this book to review. This will actually be my first one, so please bear with me.

The premise of the story is a tried and true one, best friends who realize that their love for each other goes beyond friendship. However, I felt like we were dropped into the middle of a story and just kept on the sidelines. I believe the story was a good outline that needed more depth and character development. It was hard to root for characters when I barely knew who they were. I wanted to know more about Whitney and Jason, like what made them tick and how did they get to where they were. I understand that it is a novella, but in order to enjoy a story I need to care about the characters. It is a good start though and I applaud an author who wants to hear what readers really think.

I really enjoyed The Wedding Date! I started reading it this morning and finished this afternoon. I loved the chemistry between the main characters, Whitney and Jason! This was a wonderful story about finding true love and how some people have many obstacles to overcome before they can find the one. I thought Yolanda did an awesome job at describing how Jason and Whitney felt for each other as well as making you feel their chemistry! There is only one thing I would have changed; I do wish it was longer at that we got to learn if they found their happily ever after. Thank you Yolanda for a great book!

I really wanted to love this book. I love a good friendship that turns into more, and the idea that this was all going to happen in the Big Apple (or even better, at a wedding!) had me eager to start clicking away on my Kindle. Turns out, this was just not my cup of tea. I was a little taken aback when the story opened with a break up, and even more alarmed that Jason's first scene depicts him searching through Whitney's Facebook photos (and activity he admits to doing daily).

The writing is pretty solid, the story and characters just didn't really work for me.

I read this book, and I must say that I wasn't overly exited.

It was quite short and only span over 2 weeks, but nonetheless got a bit boring at times. The author has a tendency to be very detail oriented and that kind of dragged it out.
I found it very hard to characterize with the main character, since she always was described as perfect and flawless.
The sex scenes a very brief and you never get an actually sex scene between them.
It was also a rather serious chick flick and I missed some laughs along the way.

But it is a decent beach read, where you don't have to concentrate to hard on the story

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the story and it's characters. I know I am enjoying a story when I end up wanting to poke one of the characters in the eye, or want to cheer when the main girl makes the right choice regarding a relationship. Crying is also a good sign that I love a book, and although I didn't cry reading this book, there were some emotional parts.

I gave 3 stars because even though I enjoyed the book, I believe the author has more to offer and will only get better the more she writes.

I received this book for free from the author for an honest review.... I liked the story I would have just liked a little more character development. I needed to know them more in order to like Jason and Whitney a little better.

I loved the way the ending played out. To me it was the very best best part

I would give the author another try and read another one of her books.

this was quite a short read so the storyline moved fast. I always enjoy insta love in any book and this had it. I wish there had been a bit more of the story once she had chosen her guy but that's a personal preference as I like to read about marriage and babies!!! overall it was a nice quick read

I can't say anything good about this book. I honestly just did not like it. I hated the characters and even though it's a novella, I struggled to finish it. The story needs some definite improvement and I'm sorry to say that I would not recommend this book to anyone.
