Meh. Almost a rehash of book one. Predictable twists mixed with unpredictable deaths. I enjoyed it but maybe the bar had been set too high after volume one.

This one starts off interesting enough but once Robyn gets into the old world it's just kind of boring. I can't get into the setting or people. A lot of people die so that's kind of a nice twist but otherwise not a very strong volume. A 2 out of 5.

I have really enjoyed the Grimm Fairy Tale graphic novels. Some are hit and miss, but others like their take on Sleepy Hollow are pretty good. When I saw this one on NetGalley I had to give it a read. Now I am sorry I didn't read Vol 1 first.

This has an interesting twist to it. Of course the obvious twist is that Robin is actually Robyn, but the world of Sherwood Forest is another dimension. Robyn gets pulled into this other realm to save the people there. There is a bit of magic and almost supernatural themes in this book.

I liked this one. The artwork was pretty good, and the story really held my attention. Still I wish there was more to the plot, and I also wish I would have read the first volume. There were things referenced that I missed since I hadn't read it. The characters in this and the way the author brought his own twist to the classic tale of Robin Hood made this worth the read. I will have to try to find Vol 1 so I can fill in the holes, and if there is a vol 3 I will make sure to get a hold of that as well.

It seems for this one I don't have a lot to say, but I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good twist on classic tales. The graphic novel was put together well. I would give this 3 out of 5 stars. I wish the story was just a little bit better in some spots which would have made this a 4 star review.

Grimm Fairy Tales: Robyn Hood: Wanted is a modern version of a well-loved and hugely popular classic with which many readers are family. This graphic novel is complemented by a stunning cover, which is so catching to the eye.

It follows the story of Robyn as she goes after a notorious villain known as “the Sheriff” who is terrorizing the people of Nottingham. But Robyn is no saint either. Even as she is staking out “the Sheriff” in Nottingham, the cops are searching for her on earth as she is wanted in a murder case. It is an enjoyable read for the young and old alike.

Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco have joined hands to create a hugely entertaining graphic novel. Four writers have combined their talents to write the story - Joe Brusha, Raven Gregory, Ralph Tedesco and Pat Shand, and they have succeeded in writing an engrossing story. The artwork by Larry Watts and directed by Anthony Spay is beautiful. The coloring by Nick Filardi and Ben Sawyer, along with the lettering by Jim Campbell fails to impress, may be, partly due to my copy being an ARC.

All in all, it is an exciting graphic novel!

Robyn has returned to the "real world" where she confronts her dad. That ends badly as Will and magic intervenes to draw her back to Myst and a confrontation with The Sheriff of Nottingham! Plenty of fighting, betrayals, twists and turns of chance and fate leading to a cliff-hanger ending. Enjoy!

I did enjoy this one, but not as much as the first. There was a lot of recapping, which would have been nice if I'd waited a while to read the second one (as I often do with sequels) but, in this case the repetition was a bit annoying. I think this book was used to build up the third book, and I just wish it could stand better on its own.

I liked this more than the first one because we start to see some character growth in Robyn. She becomes more than just a big ball of vengeance waiting to be rained down on all who have wronged her. Hopefully the third volume continues in this direction.

If there is going to be that much cleavage, I demand an equal amount of sweaty, muscled, male pectorals being shown!

I DEMAND an equality of hotness!

And the continuing saga was quite good as well, though perhaps just a touch more confusing. Still well worth the read if you like comics and Zenescope ones especially.

Some of the elements connecting the fantasy and "real world" story elements feel contrived, but this was an enjoyable continuation of the series. The characters feel like they needed just a little bit more room to grow and develop than they were given in these three trade paperbacks, but that tradeoff means that the pace never slows too much, so there's something to be said for the way this has been plotted.

This is turning out to be one of the better titles. The art is pretty good and consistant, as is the story. It's pretty dark, but here it does not seem gratuitous.

I feel like I've been beating up on a number of graphic novels lately, and I definitely had my concerns going in to this one (look at that cover illustration and tell me you don't think it will have that objectifying women portrayal!).  But as I'd just finished Grimm Fairy Tales: Code Red, which I felt bordered on having a really strong story, and in which Robyn Hood makes a guest appearance, I decided to read through this volume, which has been sitting in my ARC queue for a little while now.

Robyn Locksley is street smart.  Out of necessity she steals medicine for her mother.  She fights every day ... sometimes with an addict father, and sometimes with a rough group of high school peers.  It is from this fighting that she loses an eye.   And then Robyn is transported from her earthly life to medieval England, the city of Bree in the land of Myst.

Here, Robyn learns that she can fight back in ways that she couldn't when she was in our own time... and she does fight back, killing without remorse, and perhaps enjoying this taste of bloodletting. In order to get back to her own time, Robyn must lead a revolt against King John.

This tactic of changing Robin Hood into the female Robyn works very well, and having her origins begin in our own time is also a nice twist to the legend/mythology.  What author Patrick Shand creates through the blending of the histories is a strong YA character who becomes quite adept at killing without remorse, which even she wonders at.  This is some nice story-telling.

As for the art... yes, we have the much-too-typical overly-busty female running around kicking butt.  Fortunately, the strength of the story surpasses the art's intent to capture teen-boy attention.  Too often, in these sorts of graphic novels, the Barbie™-fied females are all that is drawing attention to the book.  Fortunately Shand has been working hard to create a strong story, which is part of a larger story arc, and more importantly, the interior art actually doesn't typically over-emphasize Robyn's figure.  She tends to be mostly dressed in jeans and a jacket.  It is the cover art that suggests something more.

I liked this book, and I liked the potential in the Red Hood book I reviewed the other day, and I think publisher Zenescope may actually be on to something.  Now...if the art could be drawn just a little more realistically, instead of preying on teen-age fantasies, we may have something worthwhile!

Looking for a good book?  The gender-bending twist in this Robin/Robyn Hood story works very well and sets up a stong character in a story that is worth reading.

Robyn Hood: Wanted picks up a year later from where the previous story left off. Robyn has returned to Earth and the people of Bree have started over in their newly renamed town of Nottingham. But all is not right with either world. Robyn finds herself wanted for the murders she committed on Earth and the people of Bree find themselves terrorized by the Sheriff of Nottingham. The first chapters bounce between Earth and Bree as the reader catches up with what has been happening in both worlds.

I have to say I’m still really enjoying the story. More is revealed of the characters and the story is still very dark. Plus I love the way the traditional Robin Hood story has been rewritten for the part of Robin to be played by a girl. I also liked the fact that she jokes about her ‘clothing’, or lack thereof, in Nottingham. As I’ve said before though about the women’s clothing in the Grimm Fairy Tales, I know some view it at sexist, but if I could get away with wearing it, I definitely would.
I love the illustration as well. All the artwork that I’ve seen from the Grimm books has been amazing and this one was no exception. You can definitely tell the difference between Earth and Bree/Nottingham. While both are drawn well, Earth’s coloring lacks a certain luster and richness to it; making Earth seem the less realistic of the two worlds.
The book does end with a cliffie, so I hope that the next installment comes out soon. Also, as with the other graphics I’ve read from Grimm Fairy Tales, I wouldn’t recommend this for the under 18 crowd. First because of the gore and then there is the whole clothing thing, not so much in this one, but still. But over all I really enjoyed this edition of the Robyn Hood series and I highly recommend it.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! I really enjoyed this comic book. Although I have not read the first comic, this was written to be able to stand on its own. Robyn was pulled from Earth through a portal into the troubles with King John. Returning to Earth after such an adventure caused her to act in ways that would protect herself - but also label her as a murderer as she did so. Now, she runs from the law, tries to learn about her birth, and is once again pulled back through a portal to deal with the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The graphics are beautiful even though women did tend to be skimpy on their clothes. But Robyn did make up for it by rebelling against her former outfits by stating: "Last time, the seamstress I got to make my clothing seemed to think I didn't want half of my body covered." Still, the use of colors, the textures and line strokes, all were the type of art that I enjoy seeing in comic books.

If you have heard of the online comic Namesake and really like it, you are really going to enjoy this book! The real world and fairy tale worlds being accessed through portals. It's great! Having been introduced to Namesake, I have been able to enjoy this book so much more.

I look forward to reading the previous comic and also reading the next installment.

Oooh! A sequel to Grimm Fairy Tales: Robyn Hood!

That was my first reaction to seeing Grimm Fairy Tales: Robyn Hood: Wanted on Netgalley. I was really surprised to find that there is a sequel. The first comic book was already good on its own, but a new adventure for Robyn wouldn’t hurt. So, yay!

While I was drawn to the first volume because of the artwork, this time around I’m here to see how the story continues on. Still I love the artwork just as much, no argument there.

I’m really happy to see a much lighter side of Robyn. She’s always been the lonesome type, and seeing the way she opens up to Will seems to feel like breath of fresh air.

If I didn’t expect a sequel from the first book, I am definitely waiting to see the third volume from this story. That ending! Oh my goodness! I need to see what happens next for Robyn. Oh, our poor girl. *sniff*

*Thank you, Zenescope and NetGalley for the copy of Grimm Fairy Tales: Robyn Hood: Wanted.

This volume picks up some time after the end of the first volume and starts off on Earth. I liked this about the same as the first volume though I did find them quite different. This volume is very low key on the violence compared to volume 1 and other books by the publisher. The traditional Robyn Hood legend was covered in volume one so the plot, while containing the same characters is now venturing off into more original material. The story was just OK for me; Robyn's vengeance has abated somewhat and she is a much more likeable character now. A new plot has started and the book ends in a blatant cliffhanger letting us know the series will continue. The art is beautiful as always from Zenescope's artists and while this is not my favourite of the Grimm Presents titles, I'll certainly continue to read.

This book is a great sequel that picks up shortly after the first volume. It is exciting with a cliff hanger ending. I liked this story better than the previous volume, but the artwork is a big step down. The lines are very thin and the colors are flat and washed out. Not very pleasing and actually makes the story feel drab.

Great covers.

I was not going to leave review as nothing stood out as spectacularly grand or poor, this is just a good book overall.

But I have to say that the cover is awesome. The amount of detail, the shading, and overall image is beautiful in my opinion, as are the other covers for issues on the inside of this trade.

Ok now, keep on going with Robyn Hood: Legend Vol. 3: Introduction, it only gets better from here.

Wasn't sure what to expect having never read any other Grimm Fairy Tales. To my surprise i greatly enjoyed it and will look for others to read, especially those with Robyn Hood. Such an interesting and well-played storyline, vastly different from what is normally presented. Thankfully it had good, consistent illustrations to go with the text, and not each chapter done by a different illustrator.

Although I haven't read a lot of comics, I was tempted to try this one by a gorgeous cover. A modern interpretation of the old story, which shows Robyn Hood as a hero woman. I liked the pictures a lot. And the color pallette is beautiful.
The text however could have been better.
