It's definitely the most fantasy-based manga I've ever read, but it's such a fun and engaging story! I absolutely ADORED the first chapter and all the precious moments Dahlia had with her father. It was so beautiful and honestly wish we could see more moments like that in fiction in general because it was definitely my favorite part of this volume. <3
However, one thing I SUPER appreciated is that THANK YOU TO *ALL* THE CHARACTERS WHO CALLED THAT ONE GUY AN IDIOT BECAUSE *FACTS*!!! I was SO thankful to see that MULTIPLE people call that guy a fool because YES! The way he treated Dahlia was horrific and I admired how she was able to pick herself back up and be determined to no longer hang her head.
In fact, I think that's why this first volume was amazing. I would not say this is a feminist geared read exactly, but I honestly felt empowered by Dahlia's actions and how she was going to do her best to live her life the way she wanted to. Despite the hardship she was facing, she was able to see the love that so many people had for her and be able to see that while one thing didn't turn out one way, she still believed in her value and her worth. I thought it to be incredibly encouraging, though don't get me wrong! I'm hoping that the knight she met IS the love interest because their chemistry was AMAZING and I absolutely loved him!
Overall, this was a fantastic first volume! I was a little nervous about the fantasy aspect since I adore my contemporary shoujo, but I thought the fantasy and magic were super fascinating. The isekai aspect was not overpowering in that her knowledge from her previous life didn't overwhelm how "easy" things were in this world.
Definitely recommend if you like strong but compassionate heroines, fun fantasy elements, and engaging stories!
An overworked woman dies at her desk and is reborn in a new world. Fascinated by her father’s work in magical devices, she picks up the trade to forge a new life for herself, but just how much of her new life is she actually going to be in charge of?
It’s odd having an isekai with very little isekai in it, but that’s basically what we have here, as Dahlia gets inspiration from her past life (including a hair dryer design that doubles as a weapon of mass destruction), but she doesn’t appear to have any awakening to her memories. In fact, minus that wrinkle, this could just be a straight fantasy story.
Dahlia’s a good character and there’s an interesting evolution of her disposition here, as her beat down yes-woman attitude lands her in trouble yet again when she learns the wrong lesson from her past life and assumes that being alone was the problem.
Her father, a figure who looms very large in her life, thinks that she needs protecting and arranges a convenient pairing that’s so pragmatic that Dahlia agrees to it because of her past. This turns out to be a bad plan.
There is something interesting about a reborn heroine who makes the same misstep, simply because of how awful her experiences had been, and things immediately go awry for poor Dahlia, as her fiancé turns out to be full of awkward hidden sides that his normally pleasant self never gave hint of.
So, for the second time in her lives, Dahlia is beaten down. And they go a long way to making her suitor a total jerk - it’s actually pretty believable how he quickly imposes himself on everything Dahlia does. Especially when she thinks this is what she should have done to not be alone back in Japan. The way this guy acts is likely to leave the reader fuming.
Except things go even worse, of course, and Dahlia snaps back to a new reality where she’s tired of taking this crap and decides to live her own life for a change. Yes, we have a rather pointed meet-cute so she can have her actual love interest in the frame, but they have a really good vibe together, at least, and he seems likely to appreciate her, should he ever figure out who she is.
This whole thing is okay, probably better than I’m giving it credit for, honestly, but it has a lot of the ‘been there, done that’ mentality that is always hard to shake when you’re staring down the nth variation of this story. It’s not bad; I think I am down to watch Dahlia rise up from her ashes and all, but there’s almost nothing new here.
Still, Dahlia’s definitely worth the time and watching her change over the story’s trajectory is a strong arc to follow. She’s a likeable young woman with a strong intellect and a real drive once she sorts herself out. Her best friend is great too and it’s nice to see a functioning married couple in a book like this.
It’s likewise impressive that a story makes a good villain who doesn’t do anything physical, but is a manipulative and controlling little twerp. Not all danger in the world is strictly physical and it’s nice to see that used here.
3.5 stars - this is actually pretty good and has a lot of girl power, always a fan, but it’s definitely swimming in the wake of what we’ve seen before (to say nothing of that cover that’s clearly swiped right from Snow White With the Red Hair). If you can’t get enough of this sub-genre, there’s enough here to recommend it.
There is good isekai in this world! This manga is about a woman who dies at her work desk and when she's reborn she resoles to make new choices + make items from her old life on this new fantasy world!
I really liked it. I thought the art was cute and I think Dahlia is pretty likable and has lots of support from her friends.
Looking forward to the rest of the volumes as the story progresses. There's also a potential love story brewing that I'm actually excited to see unfold.
And I love the fantasy aspects a lot. I am worried about how production is done because they use animal parts for what are mass produced artifacts. So I hope the story addresses this at some point.
I hope the story expands to other countries too and that we get to see the animals, whose parts are harvested. I'd also be interested in items that dont resemble our world too.
I enjoyed this and looking forward to the next volume.
This was a cute, cozy fantasy manga that I enjoyed but didn't love.
I think that lack of "wow factor" is due to the pacing. I know this manga is adapted from a light novel, so some things are going to be cut, but major plot points happen "off page" in this manga. We're bounced around from development to development, transitioning our way through time. It's done well enough that I wasn't confused about what was happening; I was just perplexed as to why plot points of that significance would be given a little text box to sum things up and then off we go again. This led to the overall story feeling rushed.
Still, I really enjoyed the volume and liked the cozy crafting vibes and the politics of the guild hall as our heroine, Dahlia, branches out on her own and starts marketing her inventions.
I think I'd like to continue the series, but I'm not in any hurry to do so since it didn't enchant me.
Considering this is just another isekai, I actually quite enjoyed this one. It's reminds me a bit of Ascendance of a Bookworm what with both protagonists inventing stuff, which is fine as I enjoy that series too. It's nothing original to the isekai genre but at this point not much can be but so far it seem promising and I'm enjoying it which came as a surprise to me as most isekai manga/anime aren't very good.
Cute easy and quick read, which is just what I was looking for. Not as a medieval as I wanted and way too much about business dealings. But it’s a short series so I might as well continue
After a disappointing and unrealized life, Dahlia vows to follow her passions next time around should she get another chance.
Fortunately, Dahlia finds herself getting that opportunity when she finds herself reincarnated in a magical world. There, she’s able to use not only her prior knowledge from her former life but her magical training in this new world as well to craft wonderful and useful magical devices.
It is Dahlia’s ambition to hopefully improve the quality life for people in this world through her magical innovations and creations.
She never wants to hang her head low again.
Will Dahlia be able to realize those ambitions? Or, will this second chance be more of the same?
This is SO MUCH BETTER than I expected! I really enjoyed this first volume!
As I’ve said before, I so appreciate how the isekai/fantasy adventure genres are expanding to include more stories told through the feminine gaze. Books like this one make me want to read more.
I so appreciate stories that have ambitious female characters with agency and independence. Dahlia has her own motivations and her own story that is unfolding without any kind of romantic influence—necessarily. In fact, she’s actively butting up against patriarchal systems of power. It’s quite refreshing.
Definitely recommend for readers who enjoy a quaint, slice-of-life fantasy series~
The tone of this manga reminds me a lot of "A Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent" except it's actually good xD.
Both manga feature the isekai premise of woman being reborn/transported into a fantasy world where they make a name for themselves as a magical researcher and slice of life adventures ensue. So it was a pleasant surprise that after hating "A Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent" and finding it incredibly boring, "Magic Artisan Dahlia" managed to hook me and keep me invested. This makes me all the more mad that "Saint's Magic Power" somehow gets an anime and physical light novel prints but series like "Dahlia" don't. I don't get what people see in "Saint's Magic Power."
Somehow the characters in "Dahlia" are so much more lively and likeable and the silly magic invention stuff is so much more amusing. Dahlia's connection to her father is really sweet and I'm really interested in how her relationship with the new character she meets towards the end will develop. So much has already happened in just the first volume that I can't wait to read more.
Loved the premise behind this book - a woman is reincarnated in another world and becomes a magic artisan. I was here for that. Unfortunately, the story focuses more on her relationships with men, and less on her abilities. When she finally decided to stand up for herself and make her own way, that literally lasted a day before she was on to the next love interest. They also explained her inventions in detail too much (there is practically a box on every page explaining her inventions or her father’s inventions- not only were they not necessary because we all know what a hair dryer, water heater, and stove top ovens are, but they also took you out of the story). It would have been great if they came up with some original inventions for the story. I am basically giving this 3 stars for the illustrations. I’m not planning to continue with this series.
This was a delight. The worldbuilding is a little shaky for me in trying to figure out the relative era (it's secondary world, high-ish fantasy, but has several super modern elements, esp when it comes to clothing) the story is supposed to take place in, but it's very enjoyable. The isekai part kinda gets blown past right from the start, yet we see Dahlia seemingly subconsciously aware of her past life/the modern world.
Lot of character stuff going on in this first volume. Wasn't expecting it to have quite the 180 that it does for the 'starter relationship,' but I like how Dahlia handled it and how there's a lot of community building/found family going on. Irma's design is super cute. Looking forward to the next one and watching the anime.
this was such a gem! I seem to be drawn to the “accidentally transported/reincarnated into a fantasy world” trope at the moment and I’m anything but mad about it. what makes this manga special is the combination of magic and science—it’s not really alchemy (that already exists here), it’s not solely magic, there’s a little bit of botany and zoology thrown in… in short, the concept of magical artisans, people who blend natural materials and science with magic, is fascinating!! and Dahlia is an easy character to sympathize with. we really only got her “origin story” so to speak in this book, so I can’t wait to see where she goes from here!
I want to see more of her inventions in that world. Also omg the audacity of Tobias of putting his name on that mini stove WTF scr*w you and your Orlando firm😤 And that girl, Emilia!! Grrr.... Dahliya changed her image cos of him. Id*ot. Glad she cut ties with him. The respect of senior artisan also vanished as he did that! Tsk tsk!
But because of that, I'm also glad that Dahliya was able to establish the "Rosetti" firm thanks to the support of others❤️😭 I'm gonna happily ship her and Wolf!! 😍

This volume was a great introduction to the series. We follow a girl named Dahlia, who in her past life was dragged down by her job. She gets reincarnated into a new world, in a more magical setting. With her new life she wants to take things on with her head held high. She is born to an Artisan family, a magic user who creates tools with magic. I really like the main character, she's mature and smart and takes life with a positive attitude. I'm looking forward to reading the next volume!
My boyfriend got me this for Christmas and I was super ecstatic. I’ve been playing Stardew Valley, and on top of that have been trying to get back into Graphic Novels/Manga and this was perfect. This also gave me Snow White with the Red Hair vibes so if you like that you’ll love this for sure. I love how in-depth everything is, and how descriptive the Mangaka is. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, so much that we went back before the new years to get the second volume which I’ve already read! ❤️
The first few pages of chapter one, I skipped through them because I found the intro to the story boring. After I skipped ahead to the middle of chapter 1 it started getting more interesting. I can see that the story is trying to establish a romance between the FL and the knight. I really like the trope the author uses, but I’m not a fan of the gay factor coming from the knight thinking the FL is a man and having a crush. Definitely not my thing, but other than that I loved it. Excited to read the next book.

A woman reincarnated in a new world decides to use her talents to craft magical tools!
Reincarnated in a fantasy world, Dahlia immerses herself in the art of crafting magical items. Using knowledge from her old life and the skills her new father has taught her, she invents specialized tools, finding pleasure in everyday activities. Dahlia won’t hang her head in misery like she used to.
She’s determined to enjoy her second chance at life! [x]
pacing was a little weird after the initial introduction of dahlia and her father. tobias seemed to develop into a mess overnight and their engagement / dahlia’s submission to his psychologically abusive requirements / deaths of their fathers were portrayed in only a few pages? but after this a good rhythm is developed and I really like where this series seems to be going. love how dahlia stands up to tobias after and begins to truly stand on her own.
