I loved him for years, and he was clueless. He left and never looked back.
Now the rock star sends me an invitation—to our wedding.
Not many folks can say they grew up next door to a famous rock star, hanging out after school each day. But back before the fame and the riches and world tours, Dalton was mine.
My best friend. My crush. My everything. I loved him before it was cool, okay?
These days, he’s a stranger. A distant celebrity, nothing more. Sometimes he writes me letters, but I put them away unopened. It hurts too much.
Until the fancy invitation. Those embossed RSVP. I nearly throw up until I see our names.
I am cordially invited to my own freaking wedding.
What the hell?
Rock God is a sweet and steamy instalove story, starring two childhood best friends who never got over each other.
Safe safe safe. Long separation but both virgins. Quick, fun AND safe. Exactly what I needed with the reading slump that I have. The next one is going out on my bday (august 3rd) and I’m so excited. Hopefully both virgins too or at least celibate after meeting 🤞🤞🤞

TROPES: ~DUAL VIRGINS!! ~childhood friends to lovers ~unrequited love
Alba and Dalton grew up as best friends. On both sides, that turned to love. But Dalton is convinced he's not worthy - he wants to be worthy of her love more than anything. He becomes a rockstar, and for the next several years they send letters back and forth. Alba cuts contact with him. 3 years later, she receives her own wedding invitation in the mail. Can they make it work after all this lost time?
I really enjoyed this one but I liked Harbor Master better. Probably because of the age gap, lol. This story was still cute! I can't wait to read the next book in the series when it releases! <3
Cassie Mint never disappoints me! This time, she is giving us an angsty, second-chance, "it has always been you" romance story about a rockstar who sends a wedding invitation to his childhood friend and it's an invitation TO THEIR OWN WEDDING.
Yes, as insane and unhinged as that sounds, the story is super cute and it holds a lot of emotions. These two have been loving each other for years but neither had said anything. When Dalton left to become a rockstar, Alba wrote him letters and he answered them all. But Alba felt that she was left behind and, tired of always pining after him, decided to stop. But he kept sending her letters, care packages, but all of them went unanswered. Until Alba receives a wedding invitation, scared for the worst.
But then she opened it and saw her name embossed on the paper lmao.
Dalton HAS BEEN PINING AFTER HER TOO!!! But he felt that he had to have an established life, to give Alba the life she deserved. He's such a dumb boy because Alba didn't care about money or fame, she just wanted him and throughout the book she lets him know and he finally realizes. It was such a fun read! I enjoyed it so much and you could see the history between these two. They knew each other since high school and were actually neighbors as well. The best of friends. But years made the friendship sort-of die but now Dalton is ready to make her see he's perfect for her!
It's a fun premise. You get an invitation to attend your best friend from childhood's wedding... to yourself.
However, there were a lot of strange/missing pieces.
They haven't seen each other for 8 years. Yes, they wrote letters back and forth for a while, but neither made the effort to see the other in person.
This is the typical friends-to-lovers where they both have been pining but haven't said anything. And they could have been together the whole time. Their separation is stupid.
Also... who still has the same swim suit after 8 years!? And she's gained weight in that time. Ya, no. That's super unlikely.
With some changes, this could have been great... but it's just so-so.
Safety deets - No OM/OW. - Both virgins. He's been waiting for her. - HEA. Typical Cassie Mint... But they're getting married and she's already pregnant.

Alba and Dalton were best friends since they were little kids. Feelings shifted and they fell for each other, but both of them were to shy to announce it. Dalton always thought Alba is out of his league, so he became a successful rockstar, so that he could care properly for his woman. He tried to stay in contact ,but Alba felt left behind and was heart broken. Now 8 years letter Alba gets an invitation to her own wedding .. to Dalton. Their first meeting is not what Dalton hoped for. Now he has to fight to keep his woman. Second chance , soulmates , sweet, romantic , with a bit steam and totally safe (dual virgins-yes they waited for each other 🥰🥰) and with a sweet HEA 😍😍😍😍
Alba (h) and Dalton (H), childhood best friends, parted when he left to seek his fame as a rock star, and left Alba bereft. For years they exchanged letters and packages, but the emotional toll was too great for Alba, and she stopped responding or even opening Dalton's communications. When Alba receives an unexpected wedding invitation from Dalton inviting her to her own wedding to him, she confronts him, thinking it's a cruel joke. But little does she know that Dalton has always loved her, and this invitation is his way of finally expressing his true feelings. Alba and Dalton's journey towards understanding and realizing their feelings for each other is both heartwarming and steamy. Hot and steamy estranged friends to lovers romantic quickie with a bit of angst and humor.
I can admit I was wrong, and I was wrong when I thought I wouldn’t like this book. There was a devastated hero from his first chapter? Yes please. And he’s been a virgin for 8 years waiting for his best friend? I am here for it!!
This was just not good. I was really excited for the premise, that someone receives an invite to their own wedding when they aren't involved with the other person. And I needed to read a Rockstar trope for a challenge. Unfortunately, it fell flat on both of those things. This heroine was all over the place with her thoughts and feelings, and it just made me not like her. She didn't want to be with him but then the next paragraph she was wanting to be seen with him by paparazzi. She was mad at him for not being in contact with her for 8 years, but he wrote to her constantly and she spent the last few years ignoring his letters. The whole book takes place over about 24 hours, so there is no room for any development, of either the characters or the story. Because they have a past, their romance could have been believable, but it was more unrequited love on both their parts, rather than a second chance type thing, and I just didn't get enough from them. It wasn't exactly closed door on the sex scenes, but I was very underwhelmed by them. I am sure that I've read this author before, but I don't recall having so many issues with a book of hers, so hopefully this was just a one-off miss for me.
Dual virgins No cheating No OM No OW (rumors throughout his career of who he goes out with, but he NEVER went out or had any relationships of any kind with women, they were just gossip/paparazzi rumors to sell stories on the rock star) No gross condom use Long 8 year separation HEA? (I don't believe it) short story This is the boring, unbelievable story of Dalton and Alba. Dalton is an idiot that went off to become a rock star to make money and 'become someone worthwhile' for Alba (or so he says but it's not the reason). Alba is the hurt girl that has a massive crush on Dalton, the boy who left her behind to seek out his dream of being a rockstar (THAT was the reason he left, to seek out his dream and it Alba didn't fit in his life). They exchanged letters for five years, until she stopped reading them for three years. She gets an invitation to THEIR wedding and she goes to confront Dalton, thinking it's a prank. Ok, the dual virgin thing is great, ALWAYS. But it cannot fix a story where there is no love and no fight, no romance and no passion between our two MCs. They never called each other, never visited each other, and so how are we supposed to root for them. I think that Dalton left to seek out his dream. It wasn't being with Alba. If he cared why didn't he know that she was stuck with roomates, making ends meet, when he is this rich rockstar making money to support her? I'll tell you why....HE DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT ALBA! I understand her being sick of the letters and not wanting to reach out anymore. She stopped reading them after seeing rumors of him going out with women, so she was hurt. Maybe in the letters he kept writing but she never read it mentioned that she is his one and only, maybe a quick phone call?? He even thought that leaving, was good for her to live her life. So he was ok if she found a man, fell in love and married him? Seems like it to me! Even though he seems to hate the idea, I don't think he would have minded. When she said that this whole marriage is a prank and how hurt she was, he easily gave up on her and said, fine, she can go back home, he won't stop her. What a prince! *heavy eye roll* They get together, they are hot and cold to each other and then have sex, they marry, HEA. One more thing, if someone I wrote letters to stopped answering, I would be worried that something happened to that person, worse, that they died. He just continued writing rather than sending someone, or going to were she is to see if she's ok?? And we are supposed to believe he was in love with her?? That was the final nail in the coffin that is this joke of a story. He didn't bother checking on her at all! Yeah, this was one of Cassie Mint's worst. I think that she just shat out a book and here you go, waste your money and your time on this bullshit story. There was no love, no fight, no passion, no romance. The only positive is that they were both saving themselves for each other. Don't waste your money or your time on this book. It is not worth it!
The cover doesn’t make justice for how sweet this book is. Absolutely silly too. But the sweet part made me disregard the lack of thinking on both main characters cases. More so the hero than heroine (breaking stereotypes one novella at a time!). What was the reason why they could see each other for 8 years?
For context read this:
“Eight years. Eight years without her hands on me, without her scent in my lungs, without her musical voice in my ears—and I’m no less smitten than before. If anything, it’s worse. But you know what? Alba is right. This was an insane idea. Because I’ve carried a torch for this woman for all this time, hoping and planning that one day we’ll be together, glued to each other’s sides, but meanwhile she…”
Like…Okay mister Rock Star just one question? Whose basement were you locked in to not be able to visit at least once with all that money and fame? Simon Cowell’s?
Huh?
I had to ignore this plot hole for my sanity. After that was done, it was enjoyable.

Romance Safety: Safe! Dual virgins. Hero never even dated anyone (at least that I read in between the lines?? I’m delusional sometimes but I’m sure on this one). The heroines also never had any lovers. She had a crush on him since high school (vice-versa). The ending is happy. They are getting married and the h is 6 months pregnant.

Dalton and Alba were best friends since they were kids and always was there for each other which is sweet to read about.. The both has a crush on each other but ever said anything because Alba thought Dalton did not see her that way and Dalton always thought that Alba would never see him as anything but her best friend so he thought by becoming a famous Rock star that she would see him in a different light and see that they are perfect for each other..
When he left town to build that dream for them both which left Alba alone in a small town she felt sad and lost.. They wrote to each other for years but then it got to hard for Alba because she missed him so much and always love him so she stopped writing to him and also reading his letters.. Then one day she gets a weird letter and goes to find Dalton which turns out to be the best thing for both of them because they finally tell each other how they really felt back years ago..
This book is packed full of: ⦁ Rock star Romance ⦁ Second Chance Trope ⦁ Double Virgin Trope ⦁ Childhood Best friends to Lovers ⦁ A bit of steam with a light bit of biting and Spanking ⦁ Tattooed Hero ⦁ Used to write letters to each other ⦁ Small Town ⦁ Forced Proximity ⦁ Protective Hero ⦁ Love at First Sight ⦁ Fast Read
I think this book was sweet and i did like the romance as well.. I am glad that everything worked out they got a happy ending..
Alba and Dalton grew up together. He was her crush and sun in her life. When he went on tour and hit it big they wrote to each other for several years, Alba still being in love with him. But they never met again or communicated over mobile phone or e-mail. When she graduated college she decided to stop writing, maybe her unrequited love would hurt less and she can have a fresh start. Then she receives an invitation to his wedding and surprisingly she is the bride to be. She does not know what is going on, he was never cruel, but she believes it to be a prank. He is heartbroken that she believes it is a joke. He has loved her since being teenagers, wanted to achieve something big to be good enough for her. She has always loved him. Will they finally be able to see what they mean to each other? Sometimes I wanted to bang my head, how Dalton and Alba did not realize they already had each others heart and love. Not seeing each other for 8 years and then misunderstanding each other. She has always loved him, no matter his status. This story is well written with some humor to it.

Dalton Meadows and Alba Hernandez had been best friends until Dalton moved on to reach his dreams. She was never out of his mind, though. He send postcards, letters, email, small gifts. He never forgot her for a moment. But as his fame increased, she felt the pain of knowing he was gone and out of her reach forever. So she stopped reading his letters, knowing she had to forget him. But he has made it to the top and is ready to claim the woman he has always loved. And when she won’t respond to his correspondence, it’s time to shake things up – so he invited her to their wedding with a fancy invitation she cannot mistake for anything else! They have loved each other forever. Are they ready now to make it official?
I think the story line would have been more believable if we had seen more of their relationship back then and how they begin to fall in love. This was all “tell” and no “show” so the reader couldn’t feel the emotional connection. So Dalton’s wake-up call with the invitation was perfect!
A quick and steamy friend to lovers rock star romance. Well almost friends to lovers. Since they were best friends growing up, kept in touch via letters for years, but to protect her broken heart Alba hasn’t read or responded to any letters from Dalton in a few years. He left their hometown and became a rock star leaving her behind, or so she thought.
What would you do if you received an invitation to your own wedding? A wedding you don’t know anything about? Yup, panic!! That’s what Alba does and then heads to confront Dalton about what she thinks is a sick joke. Little does she realize he’s always had feelings for her and decided it was time to act on them. I loved the bit of conflict as they come to terms with what’s going on between them. I also loved that although Dalton was a rock star, he stayed true to his heart and saved himself for Alba.

Rock God is a short and steamy, OTT, unrequited love, friends to lovers, curvy girl gets her rock star romance. Alba and Dalton were best friends and neighbors growing up. Dalton is now a musician who went off 8 years ago to become a Rockstar. They wrote to each other for 8 years, but Alba stopped reading the letters 3 years ago as she feels he has moved on and is trying to get over him. Then she gets an invitation from him to their wedding. She meets him in Sweet Cherry Cove and has conflicting feelings as afraid to go through losing him again. Turns out they both were secretly in love with each other this whole time and never told each other. Dalton is determined to prove he is worthy of her and loves her. After some ups and downs and a little angst, we finally get a great HEA. The chemistry was great, and their feelings for each other were super sweet. Loved it.

Alba and Dalton grew up together as best friends. They both loved each other but never confessed their feelings. Dalton thought he had to go away and make something of himself before he was worthy of Also, but while he was away, Alba felt like he left her behind and soon started to ignore his letters and presents. But when Dalton invites Alba to their wedding, she travels to meet up with him and find out what he is up to. Is it all a joke to him. But on meeting up Dalton realises that he has gone about this all wrong, he hoped that Alba would agree to marry him, but he realises he has made her doubt the bond between them and needs to fix his mistake, although they both could have communicated their feelings sooner.
I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

I've been waiting for this book since I read the first book on the series. I loved the whole blurb of how two best friends, who have spent years apart, come together because of the them sends the other a wedding invitation with both of their names on it. Dalton was such a sweetheart and Alba was just trying not to get hurt. They were pining for each other and they couldn't see that they've been in love with each other their whole lives. I liked reading this novella. It has everything you need. It has the right amount of spice nad angst. You fall in love with both characters from the very beginning. If you love a good Cassie Mint book, you will love this one.

I am a huge fan of CMs work. I read everything she publishes and usually love it but this story is really lacking.
I can usually feel the connection between the two right off the bat especially with instalove but with this one, it felt hard to truly believe that these two liked each other let alone loved one another after 8 years of just letters.
I wish we had some insight on what the letters included over the years that Alba didn’t talk to Mr. Rockstar and some flashbacks to their childhood just so we could see the chemistry between the characters a bit more but regardless the book was a nice quick read and I can’t wait for the third book.

Alba has been in love with Dalton her best friend and neighbor forever. Even after high school when he left and became a rock star. They wrote letters, but Alba can't take this unrequited love any more and when she graduates college she stops reply and reading the letters. Until one day she receives an invite to her and Dalton's wedding.
This was such a cute, fun and steamy read. Both characters are sweet as pie and feel Thier love is unrequited. Dalton breaks your heart with how much he loves Alba and why he did what he did. Alba is all about protecting herself, but can she let go enough to let Dalton back in?
Loved it, just a delight to read, with lots of steam and the cutest HEA.
I can't wait for the next book - Chefs kiss about Andre.
I don’t love rock star romance. And I don’t love that most of the relationship building was off page since they were childhood friends. I also hate that he left her for 8 years because “she was too good for him and he needed to make something of himself before he’s worthy” but like never told her that. Also he wrote her letters for 8 years (she stopped writing back after 5 years) but he never once called or emailed or texted. And she kinda asked why and he never answered. WHY DALTON. WHY. Meh. It was fine.

Great story. Nice descriptions, great internal dialogue. Understood the conflict. Made me feel so good. Finally find their way. I felt young again. I'm 63, wheelchair bound. MS 22 years. Married 31 years. We adopted a sibling group from orphanage in 1998. 3,4,&5. MS diagnosed in 2002 used a crutch since getting worse. Day after diagnosed my husband came to hospital said God and I talked. If you go to Heaven I'm bringing back. Not leaving me and kids alone. Most romantic thing I love him. Feels like that. Thanks 👍
A little bit misguided in his plan go be rich and famous when he reaches out. After eight long years he feels he has enough to offer Alba. To be worthy of her at least be hoped so.
Alba after those same eight years felt unloved and abandoned. She'd given up and walked away. She just hadn't bothered to tell him, thinking he didn't care anyway.
An invitation to her own wedding was a delightful twist on Dalton's part but made her think it was just a prank. So much lost time to make up for... Sweet and romantic.
