This is the eBook version of the printed book. If the print book includes a CD-ROM, this content is not included within the eBook version. Dreamweaver CS4, now included as part of Adobe's Creative Suite 4, is the leading professional Web design and development application in the market, and is a must-have tool for any Web designer or developer. Dreamweaver CS4 Classroom in a Book offers readers the opportunity to learn to use CSS layouts, a unified CSS panel, and CSS visualization tools that let users create interactive Web sites without having to delve into code. Each chapter in this full-color book contains a project that builds upon the reader's growing knowledge of Dreamweaver, while review questions at the end of each chapter reinforce the most important skills. Dreamweaver CS4 provides Live View, a working browser rendering right in Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver users can now create dynamic interfaces using the Spry framework for Ajax. Spry widgets (pre-built user interface components) let users quickly add common user interface components to Web pages. Readers will learn how to customize a Dreamweaver workspace, apply cascading style sheets, enter text in headings, paragraphs, lists, and tables, insert graphics and Photoshop Smart Objects, and add links to a page. They'll also learn how to add interactive elements to their site, such as effects, and Flash video; add new code or code snippets; use time-saving Dreamweaver tools for productivity; and publish a finished site to the Web.
The Adobe Creative Team is made up of designers, writers, and editors who have extensive, real-world knowledge of and expertise in using Adobe products. They work closely with the Adobe product development teams and Adobe's Instructional Communications team to come up with creative, challenging, and visually appealing projects to help both new and more experienced users get up to speed quickly on Adobe software products.
I highly recommend "Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 Classroom in a Book." It is an exceptional training resource provided directly by Adobe Systems. The step-by-step instructions and exercises in the book are clear, concise, and easy to follow, making it an excellent learning tool for mastering Dreamweaver CS4. Whether you're a beginner or looking to enhance your web design skills, this official training workbook is a valuable asset.
I'd have to say that this book is very half-assed. I have learned a lot and I like how it treats the reader as if said reader is intelligent. However, there are numerous occasions where they do not fully explain how to complete a project or fix a problem. ie, page 124 - "Since this page will not be published to the Internet, we will ignore them entirely." Uh, but how do I fix the wrap-around text problem in IE 6, 7 and 8?
This is good as an initial starting book but 'Sam's Learn Dreamweaver CS4 in 24 hours' and 'CSS: The Missing Link' should also be added to your learning library. There is also CSS Advisor help on www.adobe.com. Here programmers and designers have listed both questions and fixes for the bugs that seem to frequently pop up (and are ignored in this book).
Was a great way to get me to understand web designing without the constant jargon and showing off that most online tutorials have. I love Adobe Classroom in a Book for their straight forward approaches. It is what it is, no smoke and mirrors as most web designing books would like you to believe.
Thanks to this book I actually want to learn straight forward PHP and CSS coding. 4 stars because it is definitely time consuming and not for everyone.
