For use in schools and libraries only. This volume looks at the history of dance, dance around the world, and influential dancers and choreographers of the past and present.
Alright this is my text book for World Dance in the winter so this is probably the first of a couple of times through. I appreciate how it is thematically laid out but wonder if students will a. need more historical background to understand the cross-cultural comparisons Jonas is drawing and b. feel confused by the geographic and temporal shifts Jonas makes. We shall see. Great material though, engagingly written and beautiful photographs.
Possibly one of the worst dance books I've ever read. It reads like a lecture and is rarely interesting. There is alot of comparison and contrast and the photos and the dance that you see and read about are somewhat interesting. However it is just uninspired and 95% of the timd boring. I really don't have much else to say about it and thats even sadder.
