Exciting news: Break My Bones is getting a full rework—newly revised and back in ebook and paperback on 3/27
A secret never to be shared. A killer seeking vengeance. Is his nightmarish fiction about to become a bloody reality?
Michael Kerrigan is delighted with his success. With his well-received suspense novels putting him on the map, the popular author trades his dark past for meet and greets with adoring fans. But his borrowed peace shatters when a friend he thought he’d buried dead in the ground long ago shows up very much alive… and hellbent on wreaking murderous havoc.
Trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse, Michael works furiously to uncover the shocking truth while dodging his assailant’s ruthless attacks. And with his sanity splintering as he processes years of suppressed guilt, sacrificing himself may be the only way to protect his loved ones from a crazed enemy’s relentless carnage.
Can Michael undo the sins of yesteryear before he’s the one thrown into a grave?
Break My Bones is a sinister standalone suspense. If you like conflicted heroes, violent plots, and action-packed chases, then you’ll love Michelle Ian’s eerie thriller.
Michelle Ian was raised in the shadowy corners of New England, where the fog lingers a little too long and the trees always seem to whisper. A lifelong disciple of horror and psychological suspense, she writes stories that bleed—dripping with dread, twisted motives, and characters who are anything but safe.
When she’s not conjuring emotional wreckage or burying secrets on the page, Michelle is fine-tuning her craft in the dark, determined to create the kind of fiction that follows you home... and stays there.
Wow what a great book I have never read a book where I rooted for the bad guy This book is an avalanche of goodness and then this one you may just a little bit. This is a great book about secrets coming back to haunt us and they do in a big way for this author. He is riding high honors great success and thinks he put his dark days in his pass, but not so much. Michelle Enon has a great talent for writing some really likable characters and I really found this book hard to put down. A definite five star read.. It is a dark and twisty and altogether delicious. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review I want to thank Net Galley and the author for my free arc copy in exchange for my unbiased review.
I enjoyed this book, there were parts that became hard to follow because there were missing quotation marks at the ends of speech, or misplaced ones. There were also times it was hard to work out who was talking, but those things can easily be fixed, and not the reason it didn't get five stars because I can overlook those things when there is a great plot.
The TW/CW for this book are accurate, and I would check them for yourself before going into this.
The book is set around an author who is being haunted by an old friend, an old friend who wants revenge. The body count rises and truths are revealed, but it's too late for a happily ever after. The climax to this book was amazing and left me feeling satisfied with the way that ended and I could have closed the book and left it satisfied like everything had been wrapped up in a nice package.
However, the reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because I was left really deflated by the ending, those final two chapters, mostly from the page break in "The Wolf". The book had just finished a huge climax and then went down hill sadly, I'm assuming its setting up for another book, but after the intensity of the pages before it just fell a little flat for me, it felt like it was meant to be a cliff hanger but it didn't quite hit the mark.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Michael Kerrigan is a successful suspense novel writer, who appears to have everything going for him. But when he makes a trip back to his small hometown, a friend, and secrets, he thought were long gone resurface.
As gruesome murders, one after another, begin happening, the secrets of his past, and those of his family, are revealed. Very dark secrets no one would ever want out. Feeling his sanity slipping, it comes to a shocking end.
There are enough twists to keep you guessing until the last minute, which really had me gripped to my seat.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. #BreakmyBones #NetGalley
This book was just on another level! It's fast paced, dark and completely impossible to put down. The characters were well written, there are amazing twists and turns and the pace never let's up throughout. I flew thorough it and loved every second.
There is something very captivating and about “Break My Bones”, a book with a well-narrated setting that truly captures the reader's attention with its suspenseful tone and its descriptions. Exploring into the turbulent past of the main character and the threat of revenge that is coming. The story follows Michael Kerrigan, a best-selling novelist who is haunted by memories and a traumatic event from his youth. He’s forced to relive the past, face the dark secrets he has hidden, and the potential dangers that may come to pass.
A story that covers topics such as revenge, guilt, redemption, trauma, and manipulation. Specifically, it will tell us about Michael's internal struggle, the weight of his past choices and add depth to his character.
Something that I found very interesting is that this book highlights the dark and destructive nature of the characters involved such as hatred, lies and revenge. It shows us the complex dynamics between them, and how they deal with justice and revenge. All these characteristics return to the complex characters with strong development, such as Dusty and Paul.
It’s a thriller that delves into human relationships and the blurred lines of good and evil. It’s full of tension, mystery and some plot twists that keep the reader hooked throughout the book. At least I couldn't stop until I finished it, it's been a long time since I enjoyed thriller book like this one. It's totally worth it.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
If your looking for a steady, dark suspense read, this will do quite nicely. The Antagonist was not one dimensional and the plot keeps you plotting... As for the ending, it has a good twist that you shouldn't see coming.
Hold your breath and prepare for a heart-stopping ride through the darkest recesses of a writer's mind, where the pages of his novels bleed into reality.
