For what it is, I can really appreciate it... though I definitely would've gotten more out of it if I read it as a teenager... or at any other time before my mission... But it's still full of useful invitations and ideas to consider as a missionary as well as some great stories. Shout out to Mo and Papa for giving it to me as a gift (maybe for Christmas or maybe when I turned 12) forever ago, and shout out to my parents for sending it to me so I could finish my missionary preparation long past the due date.

5/5, probably could've changed the whole trajectory of my youth.

I loved this book. It is probably an example of the way kindle books are going to go with lots of embedded videos. Excellent mission preparation and very readable for teens. I highly recommend it.

What a wonderful resource for LDS youth preparing for a mission! This book contains seven short articles based on section 4 of the Doctrine and Covenants (a book of scripture in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also known as the LDS or Mormon church). With the recent announcement allowing youth to go on missions at 18 (young men) and 19 (young women) respectively, preparation is more important than ever. Each article provides straightforward counsel about how to prepare to become a servant of the Lord. While it is directed specifically at young people becoming missionaries it also applies beautifully to all who want to serve the Lord. The book covers topics such as hard work, using the Book of Mormon as a vital tool in the conversion process, acting on righteous desires, and developing faith, hope, and charity. Each article also includes a QR code that takes the reader to short videos demonstrating the topics being discussed as well as brief discussions held by the authors with young people preparing to go on missions. Very informative and helpful, I highly recommend this book for both young people preparing to go on a mission and their parents/leaders. There is also much here of benefit to anyone who wants to become a better servant of the Lord.

The time to prepare for a mission is now! When President Monson announced that missionaries can go at a younger age. At first I was amazed and then I was overwhelmed and started to cry. My son was turning 18 in three months and I realized that the timeline for him leaving would be sooner than I was emotionally prepared for.

Suit Up! takes Doctrine and Covenants 4 and each verse is discussed by the different authors. The first verse is expounded by Hank Smith, the second by John Bytheway, etc.

I enjoyed reading each author's unique perspective and writing style. It was fun to have mission experiences illustrated, whether they be the author's own or of another person that they know. It adds real life character and brings it closer to the reader. I love that they let future missionaries know that they can do hard things, and that it is a rewarding experience.

Another book that my kids NEED to read, not only them, but me as well. I did not have a mission experience as a young woman, but I plan to have one sometime in the future with my husband by my side! This is also great to inspire member missionaries.

I would recommend this to anybody who's thinking about serving an LDS mission! It is a collection of some of the best LDS speakers all giving their two cents about what it is to be a missionary. They each took a verse out of D&C 4 and talked about it. I liked that it was catered to girls and to boys and I would even say it's fabulous to read even as a member missionary. It's packed with quotes and personal experiences and thoughtful advice.

"President Thomas S. Monson said, "God left the world unfinished for man to work his skill upon. He left the electricity in the cloud, the oil in the earth. He left the rivers unbridged and the forests unfelled and the cities unbuilt. God gives to man the challenge of raw materials, not the ease of finished things. He leaves the pictures unpainted and the music unsung and the problems unsolved, that man might know the joys and glories of creation." Think of it! We are the children of a creator. He expects us to create!"-pg. 8

We are God's workers and he expects great things from us and for us.

John Bytheway, Laurel Christensen, John Hilton III, Jennifer Platt, Hank Smith, Anthony Sweat and Brad
Wilcox have come together for another FABULOUS book for teens! This time a focus on preparing for a mission...as the age level has been lowered :)

Elder Holland has said "The Lord needs more missionaries and He needs better prepared missionaries."

This book will help with that! Each author has taken a verse from the 4th section of the Doctrine and Covenants and expounded upon it.

Sprinkled throughout the book are QR codes that will link you to some fun video clips...(if you are like me and don't have a "smart phone" they also give you the long-hand link :)

The following great chapters are in this book:
1. The Lord's Marvelous Work
2. Give It Everything You've Got
3. I'll Be What You Want Me to Be
4. Thrusting In Our Sickle
5. The Essential Credentials
6. I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus
7. Ask and Ye Shall Receive

Whether you are preparing for a formal mission or just want to be a better everyday member missionary this book is a wonderful read!
