I'm hesitantly stopping here. I don't feel great about dnfing an ARC, especially not one by one of my favourite authors, but hopefully I'm able to articulate my thoughts well enough, for them to still be valuable.
I think my main point that I'd like to emphasise, is that unfortunately, this was too long. By the end of Losers I the characters are practically all together, so when I began to notice that this sequel would hinge on the drama between Manson and his dad, I began to dread picking it up. I understand that, originally, this was only going to be one book but, because of its length, it was split in two. I believe it would have benefited from cutting some scenes, as the storyline itself could have fit comfortably into one book.
I saw on Harley Laroux's instagram that she mentioned that the 3rd book in the Soul's Trilogy, Soul of a Witch, may be the longest Soul's book. This worried me, as I felt that HSTT and HSFR dragged a little at the end.
I think Harley Laroux is a more than competent writer, and she's all-around great at writing the components of a great romance, but I think a bit more polishing in the future could elevate her work that much more.
This detail is a little less relevant, and probably more of a personal preference, but due to the splitting of the original Losers book, Losers II was released later, around christmas/winter time, rather than halloween time. Obviously, Harley Laroux's books can be read at any time of the year, but her books have a great halloween feel to them. That paired with my desire to read something more lighthearted during christmas time also probably played into my lack of enjoyement.
The length also did not reflect development, to me at least. As aforementioned the characters were enamoured and almost together by the end of the last book, so my interest in their interactions sizzled down as they began to feel repetitive but also...like they weren't going anywhere. I didn't like Manson and Lucas as much as I did in Part I, and I ended up leaning more fondly toward Jason and Vincent's friendliness and sweatheartedness.
I usually love the way Harley writes sex scenes, but sadly, I didn't love these one's as much as I usually enjoy them. I'm not a prude, and was initially curious as to what HL would come up with, as obviously having 5 participants would broaden the possibilities, but I got kind of tired of the dick-sucking.
This is another thing that is maybe just a personal preference/peeve, but nearly every single sex scene involved Jess (and sometimes not just Jess) having her mouth stuffed. Personally, I don't like BJ scenes in general, and the fact that I couldn't read about Jess being pleasured without her also having to pleasure someone else...I don't know, it bothered me. Clearly, I'm not articulating this very well, and it is a bit more awkward to discuss, but I just didn't rock with it. I didn't feel like the sex they were having was worshipping/loving Jess. I don't adore intense degredation in sex scenes, but I felt that HL did it tastefully in Her Soul For Revenge, where I didn't mind it. Enjoyed it, even. But I was not able to feel similarly here.
If that is not something you mind, than by all means discard my opinions, as it's vastly dependent on every person's individual preferences. I don't mean to say that every sex scene, and every character's preferences have to be 'feminist', but it was so degrading toward the only female character that I myself was not able to enjoy the sex scenes.
Alongside these, there were still some tender moments of adorable domesticity. I'd still like to emphasise my point that HL writes great romance, not just erotica. There were some dynamics I liked more than others, but generally, the romantic non-sexual interactions were sweet - I liked them.
Another aspect that could have contributed to my failed enjoyment, is that this book started off as a novella. The Dare is a bit of a controversial one, mainly (I think) because many readers who don't usually read dark romance gave it a go. I thought the novella was well done because served what it promised it would: smutty novella. It didn't insist that the characters be in love in the end, and it didn't delay the sex through unnecessary set-up. It absolutely ticked the box it set out to tick.
However, I don't believe the set up for that novella was strong enough for HL to string along as the base for a full duet. Jessica (h) is a bit of a flimsy character. That was fine in The Dare, as no one is really there for character development. Just for characters that fit the story. And she did, there. But not here, in my opinion.
HL's heroine in Her Soul To Take was also unimpressive for me, but in the sequel, Her Soul For Revenge, I was absolutely delighted with Juniper's character. A woman with substance, motivations, stamina and grit. While also being playful. But I liked that she engaged a lot with the mmc, biting back, taunting, initiating, leading.
Obviously, not every heroine needs to be deemed a 'powerful woman', but Jess was presented as a character with little substance. She just brought up the shit she spat in high school when she was in the mood for sexual punishment, and the boys delighted in punishing her. A dynamic that I was initially open to growing fond of was ultimately not one I rooted for. Jess was treated like a literal pet, the whole time. At first, I was able to rock with the boys' caring nature toward her, but I got tired of her spineless, wide-eyed, whiney act. And this is coming from someone who is attracted to women.
There's a fair bit of drug-use as well, which is maybe a touchy topic that I'm not confident in addressing. Manson smokes, as well as Lucas, I believe. Or maybe all of them? They briefly mention that they're interested in quitting but sometimes it's used for sex appeal. I'd say personally, choose one.
On a side note, this cover is also one of my least favourites. It's my understanding that HL doesn't have much say in the designing, but I believe that I and many other readers prefer more descrete covers, or at least ones that leave the characters faces up to the imagination because I can assure you that one picture will not be what all readers find attractive.
I hope that my review was constructive and helpful, rather than scolding or insulting. And I hope this won't get my kicked off the ARC team. Harley Laroux has many undeniable strengths, and I'm more than looking forward to her next releases. Especially her sapphic one. I messaged her privately a while ago, inquiring whether she'd ever consider writing one, and I've been struggling to contain myself since she told me she had one planned. I'm so glad she's announced it now. I'm also, of course, looking forward to the release of Soul of a Witch, as I'm confident that Harley will do this fmc justice. (I just hope that it will not be drawn out).
My favourite of Harley's work is Her Soul For Revenge, so if you're interested in HL's work but don't know where to start, the Soul's series is a great one, in my opinion. (I almost wish the sapphic romance were set in that world, imagine a female demon... but HL has said she's planning a contemporary.) I think she should consider, though, how strong her paranormal romance is, and maybe consider dabbling more in that subgenre.

So this is stealing the first place in my favorite reads of 2022.
Harley Laroux just blew my mind with this second part of Losers.
Jessica is one of the best female characters I’ve read this year. Her development was so well done. Her relationship with her mother, those precious and intimate scenes of her with each of her men… Her confidence paired with her vulnerability just killed me. She gave me all the feels. Watching her living her best, kinky life made me so stupidly happy, you have no idea. She got to experience her ultimate fantasy and it was kinky af but also very emotional 🥹
Manson and his struggles with control and trauma were so well represented and explored in this book. He’s the ultimate Daddy Dom, but he’s also someone trying to protect his family and take care of them, and crushing under his own expectations. That combination was just chefs kiss to me.
Lucas kind of stole the show for me in this one. The way he’d get pissed off at people being nice to him… fuck, I have a type🎶 My favorite scene in Losers Vol 1 was the paintball fight with him and Jess. And in this book, my favorite scene was what happened at the mall with them. I’m obsessed with him snarling and growling and biting… that muzzle scene will forever rent free in my mind.
Lucas and Jason were the biggest surprise for me. I don’t want to spoil anything but they made me feel things for sure.
Jason was my second favorite in this one. His dirty mouth, jfc. Again, I have a type and bratty switch hoes are definitely it for me. There’s this memorable scene where he’s receiving all the love, that made me take a break from reading and just thank the universe for allowing me to read Harley Laroux. What a fucking gift.
Vincent had so many more scenes to shine in this one. I loved to meet his family, I loved how he was the glue keeping everyone fed and taken care of. His loving nature was exactly what this family needed. His sense of humor and royalty just made him absolutely 10 out of 10 boyfriend material.
I loved how much the four men loved each other. As partners, sure. But also as family. How they showed affection to each other. I love to see men being vulnerable and emotional and this duology did a great job delivering all this while making these men sound like real men.
There’s nothing I loath more in ménage romances than when the girl feels like an afterthought or when the mm aspect of it feels fetishy, that’s why this is one of the best examples of how to write your bisexual characters all tangled together in the best way possible.
Harley Laroux wrote some of the most daring, scorching hot smut scenes I’ve ever read. She didn’t shy away from any of it and it paid off because phew 😮💨 the smut was incredible. 7% in, I was already overwhelmed. And it just went up from there. So remember to stay hydrated and to read alone lmao
The ending was perfect, and the emotional aspect was incredibly well done. These guys were the perfect combination between kinky and romantic. They gave me the tingles for real.
And that epilogue was everything I wanted. Although I wouldn’t mind an extended epilogue set 10 years later at some point. Just because I’m greedy and completely head over heels with these characters and any excuse is a good one to visit them again.
I can’t wait to see what Harley has prepared for us next. It’s going to be a good one for sure.

update 2: cute! Love their little family, but I think I preferred part one in terms of smut and what little plot part one offered was definitely integrated better in that installment than this one but whatever, I still had fun!

Gah. The story of Jess and her guys was so much more complex and emotional than I could have ever expected. The growth from their kinky night in The Dare to their hard-fought happy ever after was — not to be dramatic — everything.
Not only did they traverse the development of a multifaceted relationship, they were each navigating personal growth and overcoming past trauma. Furthermore, they were battling a variety of outsiders trying to keep them apart.
As a slow reader, lengthy books intimidate me and I often lose interest. I loved Losers Part I so much despite its length. So, when I saw that Part II was also lengthy, I was worried that it might fizzle for me. My concerns were unwarranted. The pacing was spot on, there was the right amount of action and spice, and I remained enamored with each guy and their unique personality. I still have a girl crush on Jess and everything wrapped up perfectly!

am I that evil? Can’t I enjoy a full series? Why did you have to ruin my LOVE for the first book with this I still love you Harley and one day I’ll read souls trilogy but i tend to hold grudges.
The length of the book was ridiculous but I was so Surprised that a slow reader like me finished it in less than 24 hours. (I forced myself) To compare the length to the character growth. There was nothing. They were already together at the end of book 1 so I thought there’ll be different things in here. And i can’t lie There was a little development mostly from Lucas, Jason, Jess. But not the way I wished.
Lucas tried to change just for Jess. When you think about it’s sweet. But when it comes to deep trauma YOU have to be the one who wants to change for your own sake.
Jason didn’t even get to see his brother. Okay his family is horrible move on, but why even make his little brother evil?

My head became foggy - They have sex and they say “I love you” and basically repeat that from the start to finish.

I liked the kidnapping fantasy that they did to her, The communication and the constant checking was adorable and absolutely swoon worthy. But I was bored. someone on booktok did some math and she discovered that 23 chapters of the book are spice. 23 chapters from 48!! that is A LOT.

The length of the book was ridiculous but I was so Surprised that a slow reader like me finished it in less than 24 hours. (I forced myself) To compare the length to the character growth. There was nothing. They were already together at the end of book 1 so I thought there’ll be different things in here. And i can’t lie There was a little development mostly from Lucas, Jason, Jess. But not the way I wished.
Lucas tried to change just for Jess. When you think about it’s sweet. But when it comes to deep trauma YOU have to be the one who wants to change for your own sake.
Jason didn’t even get to see his brother. Okay his family is horrible move on, but why even make his little brother evil?

I’D SNATCH UP VINCENT SO FAST!! i’m happy to report that i fully love all the men now. Vincent’s painting, the dance in the rain??? hello.. my heart. i appreciated getting the flashbacks for each of the guys, it showed how even though Jess was a raging bitch to them they had still always wanted the best for her. this was 100% Jess’ redemption book, I’m glad that she owned up to her behavior and the pain it caused before apologizing. Lucas and Manson are EVERYTHING but also Lucas and Jason? 🥹 there were so many cute moments in this, the only thing that i could’ve done without is still that flimsy revenge plot that Manson’s father had against him. I’m already missing these characters as i type this.

I was putting off reading part 2 because I just didn’t want it to end and now I’ve finished it I am so sad, but Harley did NOT disappoint with this book!
Firstly I didn’t even think it could get any spicier than the first book but wowwww 👀❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 this is probably the spiciest book I have EVER read to date
Secondly, I just LOVED the pacing of this book, how much time was spent developing their relationships, exploring their insecurities and trauma’s and over coming them. Having difficult conversations too about subjects that I feel a lot of readers can relate too.
The found family trope in this is so strong it literally made me emotional, I’m so happy they have each other 🥹
I have to say I don’t feel I connect with Jess as much as I do the boys, but I love her redemption arc and character development throughout the story!
The ONLY negative I have to say about this book is Mansons storyline with his Dad I thought could’ve been explored more, she didn’t such a good job of running the story along the background then it all comes to fruition so late on around page 480 and then was over by page 500 (it’s 558 pages) so I felt there was a bit of missed potential
However I feel this book is more character driven for sure instead of plot driven so it didn’t take away from the book for me at all. That’s how good Harley is at writing her characters because there is genuinely very little plot but I didn’t once get bored considering how long it is!

Ja bym chyba była w stanie czytać jak oni sobie po prostu czas spędzają razem i gadają o pierdołach. Wytworzyli w tym swoim gronie taką atmosferę, że ja nie potrzebuje jakiś większych dram naokoło tego.
Lucas, doberman boy mnie bardzo przekonał do siebie w tej części i bardzo często był moim ulubieńcem (serio nie wiem dlaczego, jakoś tak).
Relacje i ta ich lojalność w tym wszystkim! Ja nie chce na siłę robić ze smuta czegoś głębszego, ale w tej serii ci bohaterowie są świetnie napisani. Oni mają swoje charaktery, swoje problemy, przemyślenia, osobowość!! Nie ma takiego kopiuj - wklej.
Szczerze? W pewnym momencie dla mnie mogło być mniej smutu więcej rozmów XD

This was an experience to say the least. I fell in love with every single character including Jessica. I felt strangely at home with these characters. From life experiences, traumas, developing sexual desires I could relate in many ways but also not at the same time. Forever a favourite. Worth every single word. I’m obsessed.

I’m an addict, and Losers is my drug of choice. I went in for Manson(he will forever be one of my favorite book boyfriends, Lucas following not too far behind) but ended up loving all of them.
Loser’s Two is hot AF. It’s the spiciest one of the duet. Kinks galore. One, in particular, is my favorite, and I feel there is starting to be more of a representation. I read the trigger warnings, and my response was priceless. I was just so excited.
Book Two starts where Book one ends. At six percent, my kindle was already smokin’. While they find growth and love for one another, their story also gets darker. Yet so beautiful how they make their own family.
Jess is not the same bully from high school. Please do not get me wrong; she is still sassy and a brat. Now she is older and finally breaking free from what society thinks is normal. Her character growth is one of the main reasons I love this duet.
The author is very detailed and doesn’t leave one iota out. She isn’t afraid to write outside the box. I, for one, am very grateful. Her books are very well written. I didn’t want the book to end, but all good things must come to an end. Luckily I can reread it in the future.

Their family was everything.
Seeing the growth that Jess went through in this book and the last was everything I needed. And everything, in my opinion, the boys needed too.

Her relationship with her mom broke me.
Her mom wanting to do everything so that Jess was "that perfect girl" but not seeing how she was hurting her and how she wasn't taking her into consideration in her life was heart-breaking.
The Mason-date chapter was legit everything I needed from that situation and I am so happy for it.
And also, the smut was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G as always so thank you Queen Harley for blessing us with your writing.
Will never look the same was at a restaraunt bathroom, shower, or champagne bottle again honestly. And that's ok.

Y'all. When I read this for the first time last year, I had NO idea that I would fall in love with Manson, Lucas, Jason, Vincent and Jessica. Istfg this duet was my *actual* erotica awakening hahahah. I've always loved a mean girl redemption arc and Jess' character development was no different in this story. Absolutely loved all the guys as well and how soft they were. The M/M scenes were MINDBLOWING. I've said this before and I'll say it again...the Losers duet made me fall in love with M/M in a RH romances - there's no going back now. Also the piss play got me like😮😮😮 but Jess...you go girl🤗 Me, on the other hand? You couldn't pay me enough to get a man to piss on me ahsksksksk🤣 If you're looking for a safe and drama free RH read with plenty of smut and swoonworthy moments, then the Losers duet is for you!

Props to Harley for writing such an amazing duet and I really hope we get an extended epilogue someday (with babies and all the mushy feelings🥹💕)

Poznajcie Jess, która skrywała się za maską Jessiki do momentu, gdy czterech mężczyzn postanowiło zedrzeć z niej każdy skrawek ubrań i fałszu, za którym się skrywała.
Ta dylogia zostanie ze mną na dłużej bo jest najlepszym wydaniem motywu Reverse Harem w Polsce, z bardzo dobrze reprezentowanym związkiem poliamorycznym oraz scenami gorącymi na tyle, że trzeba użyć wyobraźni, by w pełni je sobie zobrazować.
Dług został spłacony. Czas na zapłatę i rozstanie ale czy na pewno?
Tak jak pierwszą część mogę określić zdaniem "zabawa bez trzymanki", tak drugi tom ma w sobie pewną nostalgię. Pożądania i pragnienia zastępują głębsze emocje i tęsknota, a każda z postaci odrywa z siebie warstwę bólu i traum z przeszłości. I tutaj mi zabrakło czegoś więcej, jak na pięciu bohaterów, pogłębienia ich person i historii, myślę, że autorka potrzebowałaby jeszcze z dwóch tak długich książek. Tymczasem, dostajemy pojedyncze rozdziały i sceny pokazujące z jakimi wyzwaniami w życiu chłopacy mogli się mierzyć, dlatego momentami czułam, że wypadło to płytko. Cieszę się, że każdy z chłopaków dostał swój rozdział z Jess na sam na sam i ponownie bardzo dobrze autorka pokazała, jak różnią się konwersacje i interakcje poszczególnych postaci. Uwielbiam kreację tych bohaterów, wchodzenie im do głowy i poznawanie ich każdy skrawek. Dalej moim oczywistym faworytem jest Jason, szczególnie, że jego przeszłość poruszyła mnie najbardziej.
W mieście zaczyna roić się niebezpiecznie. Ojciec Mansona, stale ich obserwuje, na wyścigach robi się podejrzanie, a większość mieszkańców zaczyna krzywo patrzeć na związek całej grupy, nie tolerując go na tyle, że starają się uprzykrzyć im życie. "Smutni ludzie, rozpoznają siebie nawzajem." Znając podejście autorki, mam wrażenie, że cała ta dylogia, to bunt przeciwko wszystkiemu, co uznawane jest w niektórych kręgach za "nienormalne" i nieakceptowalne: queerowość, związki poliamoryczne oraz wyzwolenie seksualne. Tematy tabu, które są omijane lub wyzywane, dlatego cieszę się, że Harley podjęła się napisania tak genialnej historii.
To moja druga seria od tej autorki, i po nich wiem, że cokolwiek napisze Harley Laroux, ja to przeczytam.

Tak jak pierwszą część mogę określić zdaniem "zabawa bez trzymanki", tak drugi tom ma w sobie pewną nostalgię. Pożądania i pragnienia zastępują głębsze emocje i tęsknota, a każda z postaci odrywa z siebie warstwę bólu i traum z przeszłości. I tutaj mi zabrakło czegoś więcej, jak na pięciu bohaterów, pogłębienia ich person i historii, myślę, że autorka potrzebowałaby jeszcze z dwóch tak długich książek. Tymczasem, dostajemy pojedyncze rozdziały i sceny pokazujące z jakimi wyzwaniami w życiu chłopacy mogli się mierzyć, dlatego momentami czułam, że wypadło to płytko. Cieszę się, że każdy z chłopaków dostał swój rozdział z Jess na sam na sam i ponownie bardzo dobrze autorka pokazała, jak różnią się konwersacje i interakcje poszczególnych postaci. Uwielbiam kreację tych bohaterów, wchodzenie im do głowy i poznawanie ich każdy skrawek. Dalej moim oczywistym faworytem jest Jason, szczególnie, że jego przeszłość poruszyła mnie najbardziej.
W mieście zaczyna roić się niebezpiecznie. Ojciec Mansona, stale ich obserwuje, na wyścigach robi się podejrzanie, a większość mieszkańców zaczyna krzywo patrzeć na związek całej grupy, nie tolerując go na tyle, że starają się uprzykrzyć im życie. "Smutni ludzie, rozpoznają siebie nawzajem." Znając podejście autorki, mam wrażenie, że cała ta dylogia, to bunt przeciwko wszystkiemu, co uznawane jest w niektórych kręgach za "nienormalne" i nieakceptowalne: queerowość, związki poliamoryczne oraz wyzwolenie seksualne. Tematy tabu, które są omijane lub wyzywane, dlatego cieszę się, że Harley podjęła się napisania tak genialnej historii.
To moja druga seria od tej autorki, i po nich wiem, że cokolwiek napisze Harley Laroux, ja to przeczytam.

This is a god-tier smutty, dark, poly romance. (Also, you’ll never look at a champagne bottle the same way again)
I wrote a large review for book 1 in this duet so for this one I will just say that my favourite parts were each of these where Jess or the boys declared their love for each other. Especially Manson and Jess, Omg I almost cried. The cuteness!!! (Tbh what really stands out is how individual and complex each of the romances are!)
Also, I would be a maniac in the car like Jess is with Lucas and Manson hahahahah

Let me start by saying this: Losers is now my favorite duet ever. Unrivaled. Make them an omnibus and I have my holy bible. The love I have for these characters makes it hard to remember they’re not actually real - because I’d give everything to have them for friends in real life.
This part 2 wraps up their story beautifully. It got darker. It got deeper. It got spicier.
We still go through so much growth - as individuals and as a group. I started crying at 58% and didn’t stop. Some moments, when “big steps” happened to each of them, were written in a way that seemed I was there to witness it. And I was so proud of them, watching their souls being glued back together little by little 😭
In my review for part 1 I mentioned the way every single character resonated with me, which is a hard thing to happen. Losers part 2 cemented that! I had so many highlights where I made a note for “ouch, too close to home”. I don’t think I’ll ever read another duet that will tug at my heart because it feels so real like this one.
Now, now… the spice 🫠 We already know Harley writes some damn good spice and kink, but we have some moments in here where your undies will completely disintegrate (because “panty drop moments” isn’t enough for what happens here). It got turned up several notches. This book contains quite possibly the hottest club scene I’ve ever read. Other couple instances there had me going “oh shit, is this a new k!nk unlocking or is this hot because it’s them?” (Looking at you shower scene) 😂
There are new k!nks here, so heed the CW in the beginning of the book for possible boundaries.
I could go on and on about this book and these characters, but then I would risk spoiling stuff & we can’t have that. But I’ll be soooo open to discuss this duet with anyone. I’ll definitely reread this story over and over.

Part II continues all the beautiful and complex relationships that were growing in Part I. I was so eager to see what would happen next for our group and this book did not disappoint. I continue to be extremely impressed with how the author spends time making me believe every dynamic and connection that makes these 5 people believable to me. I just haven't read a poly or RH in a LONG time that makes every partner in the dynamic feel distinct and known, there's always someone who gets lost in the shuffle and that is NOT the case here.
Jessica, Manson, Jason, Lucas, & Vincent and messy, dirty, caring, hot, and loveable to me and I enjoyed spending these 2 books with them. This story looks at all their broken pieces and as they share them with each other, they are able to heal just a little bit. That's really a wonderful thing in a romance.
Of course this is absolutely teaming with k!nk and make sure to check the author's full list. She is very aware of what she puts into her books so if you are okay with that list, you will have a great time. There are even some things I wouldn't normally be into but.. hot damn! Harley Leroux has me questioning myself. Haha!
The only thing that knocked a tiny bit out for me, was the "big bad" in our story... I just didn't care about that story point and I could have done without it. I think there was enough angst and room to grow with the characters that I didn't need that kind of plot. But hey, still loved this book SO much!

pt 2 is so overwhelming & doesn’t get anywhere! it was too much sex, sex every page, sex everywhere, and just more sex. like her cunt & mouth can’t even get a break. it so boring, the storyline isn’t moving, only their fuckin’ dicks is. ain’t no fucking plot in this b!tch, that was harley biggest flop. pt 1 is the same copycat like pt 2 here, bare minimum with lots of sex to cover the story, the cover is so bothersome to me bc its really uglaayyy yall.

Whew, what a whirlwind! I didn’t love this quite like the first book, but there were parts I loved even more. First: the spice was spicing, but it was almost too much. I love sexy times as much as the next girl, but I straight up started speed reading towards the end! Second: the redemption and forgiveness was my favorite part, bar none. The guys are so sweet and Jess was finally sweet and deserving in return. I loved the sweet flashbacks of their special times in high school! And the suspense with Reagan and Alex and Nate added some fun danger to the whole thing. Anywho, I had a great time reading this, aside from the super cheese at times, the extreme degradation that makes me feel stabby (not yucking others yum!) and the one scene towards the end that made me want to claw my eyeballs out. (Lookin at you, post-club shower scene 🤮)

We’ve spent all our lives reaching for the light, and you burned through us like fire.
I should make an altar dedicated to Harley and the book gods for blessing us with this book. I've lost my heart between its pages. If I had to describe this book with one word, it would be freedom. Freedom to love whoever you want, to be loved the way you need, to live your life exactly as you wish. It left me yearning for a society that accepts one's identity, truth and lifestyle without trying to mold them in its obnoxious standards. I couldn't stop reading but I also didn't want to finish it. Letting go of these characters, and never reading about them again seems wrecking. Especially after that ending.
When I read the Dare, I never imagined that I would spiritually connect with these characters to such a degree. I unconditionally love all five of them. Their relationship is a beautiful web of emotions, respect, and love that continually surges from one person to another. I've never seen a whychoose romance functioning so effortlessly. And it's not like the guys' relationship adjusted for Jess. Jess always belonged there. There was a space waiting for her, it belonged to her all along because her soul belonged with them. On the contrary to other RHs, their relationship didn't revolve solely around the fmc - although the guys were deliciously obsessed with her- they were all equals.Ugh I'm hyperventilating.
I know a major part of the book was spice but the growth of our losers and their freaky angel was magnificent. We have pain and struggles, confessions and love. It didn't feel like a dark romance. For me, it wasn't one. These five were so undeniably in love but in such a freeing, healthy way. As in part one, the portrayal of families in this book and their enormous influence on their kids had such an impact. From a heartwarming family to two struggling to accept or downright rejecting their kids, to tremendously horrendous parents.
As for the spice… let's just say that it's probably the kinkiest, hottest, most sinful spice I've ever read and I enjoyed every single page. It was kinky af, sexy and dark but felt natural for the characters. But damn was it intense!
“Promise not to tell?” she whispered. “I promise.”
“I don’t ever…ever want to be without you. Please…please promise..”
“I promise, angel,” I said. “I promise you’ll never be without us again.”
Did I like it? I would sacrifice my soul for it.
Would I reread it? *Evil laugh* oh my sweet, summer child.

was there a plot? barely anything but it was obviously amazing! literally just finished this and i’m still very emotional so give me 5/7 business days to recover. will probably need a lot more time then that.
found family in this book did not disappoint. the characters are so special to me and seeing them grow with eachother relationship/friendship was everything!

i can’t even put into words how perfect these characters are or how perfect this book is but just trust me!!
going to grieve now and reread my fav scenes 🫂🩶

Unfortunately, this story was just way too long.
Usually with novels each one has a climax with a wrap up attached to it. That's not really what happened with Losers. The first book was one of my favorites along with its novella which I adored. Neither of them had a climax or a resolution - not really. Maybe we could count Jess' overcoming of past prejudices as the climax??? I'm not really willing to call it that since she barely struggled with the decision in both.
Leading into another 400 page book with the same plot of the previous one was...boring. And unfortunately because I loved the gang so much already there was nowhere for my affection to grow. There was nothing new for me to learn about any of them and with no real conflict it just all felt very stale.
Also, I'm not really sure if it was my waning interest but the smut scenes started to feel repetitive. Which was so odd because in the previous book the author explored a variety of different kinks and themes and each scene seemed new and fresh.
