Michael Thomas is a husband, father, avid runner, self-taught chef, and internet entrepreneur. He has published books about running, cooking, and eBook publishing,
Librarian’s note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
The author provides key insights to using Amazon categories to increase sales. He also discusses using keywords and search engine optimization (SEO) to help readers find your book.
Learning how to convert rankings into aproximate sales was helpful. It also reminded me how far down the totem pole I am.
Authors with new books may appreciate the information on getting into the "New Seller" category.
The author provides information on using HTML in the KDP book description and Author Central. He also provides samples that you can copy and paste.
I believe authors should be using their "Book Description" as a "Sales Page." As such, you need HTML to add headings and subheadings in KDP Direct; however, Author Central now has a basic HTML editor that is extremely easy to use.
I haven't been able to get either XML or HTML code to work for font color in Author Central.
NOTE: Once you use the book description in Author Central, KDP Direct's book description will no longer be usable.
The author explains how to use your book description to create a "SALE."
The author includes an extensive description of how to use analytics on Amazon. This is a hot new topic that may be of interest to authors who are moderately successful; however, if you are like me and just trying to get a book off the ground, you may not have enough visitors to worry about where they came from, how long they stayed, and whether or not they bought a book.
If any of these areas are of interest to you, the author provides enough information to make this book a worthwhile read.
I brought this after buying MTs other book Crush it on the Kindle.
There are some good hints and tips in here; aimed more at the first time publisher but also useful if you have published a books that perhaps aren't selling as well as they could.
A few of the formatting/html tips no longer work which is a shame as I think they would have made the biggest difference, but MT did point out in the beginning that Amazon could cotton on at any time and change their set up.
It took me about 30 minutes to flick through and make a few notes. Of the two books I preferred Click It, but for the price even if you sell just one more book it would be worth a quick read.
This was a quick read, but had valuable info regarding listing with Amazon. It teaches you how to figure out how your ranking compares to those on the hot new releases list (and how to get there), how to use code to alter your description font/color/add pictures, etc. The most important tip that I'll use is how to track your analytics through adding a picture through bitly onto your description. I haven't tried the tricks yet, but I assume they will work. I will use some of the tips. It was definitely worth the 2.99 to me.
If you are looking for a nice step by step, easy to read book on how to get on the hot sellers list, sell more books, etc. I would say this is it. Author does a great job on category selection, a little weak on keywords, this could be expanded and excellent job on running free KDP campaign. Nicely done.
This book has some great tips in it that I didn't know about. I couldn't sleep after reading this book because I just wanted to get working on all the stuff I learned from this book. This is a must read to get your book seen by others!
