British theater star, Justin Holloway, is about to open in his first Broadway show. He should be stoked. But opening night jitters have gotten the best of him; and if one more person tells him to "break a leg," he just might break theirs instead.
When he pushes out of the theatre and accidentally knocks a woman into the street, he does the first thing that comes to mind—pretends he isn’t the show's lead and tries to charm her into drinks and dinner.
Alexis Verdon is not a fan of musicals. Who really goes around singing grocery lists to the store clerk? Too bad she's promised her bed-ridden sister she would not only attend the opening night of Broadway's latest jewel, but also get autographs from the entire cast.
As if that isn't bad enough, on the evening before her great sisterly sacrifice, Alexis is knocked flat on her butt by a handsome Brit who won't take "no" for an answer and insists on taking her out on of all days, Independence Day (hello, we wanted our independence from Great Britain for a reason)!
When their attraction leads to a steamy one night stand full of passion, lies and unspoken truths, will they find a way to turn one night into something more?

Enjoyable short novella. Justin, an English actor on Broadway literally "bumps" into Alexis backstage at the theatre. Their meeting results in Alexis agreeing to make Justin more american on 4th July and Justin to help Alexis just "forget" for an evening. It was a little emotional on both sides for varying reasons, but they got their HEA, including an epilogue!!! Although the book was short, a lot was packed in. I give Diane credit for giving Justin thoughts and comments that make him *English*...getting pissed (drunk) and going to the loo(bathroom) were a couple...although, "blimey" is one I think should stay with Mary Poppins!!! Good read.
oh my God! oh my God! I wish, I wish for more... Can the author write more about these superstars in love? I totally love these stories! Of the two, this one was and is my favorite! I love Justin and Lexi very much. And even more because Justin being british. Just imagining his accent turn me on. oh my God! TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT!
Great little story that I consumed in a couple of hours. It continues to amaze me how Diane Alberts can pack so much into her books. I feel like I must have read hundreds of pages because I don't feel cheated, but then I look at the clock and I still have time to tackle the ironing pile. Diane seems to be able to distill a story down to its essential elements instead of meandering around in circles - it is a talent for sure.
I was kinda glad because this story is really just telling about one night of them. I like how the author simply great to make story line and great chemistry between the characters. the other days after she finally figured it out, it's also great transition, I mean you made it normal and natural. Then the story leads to the end. It's really just short and simple story but great that's why I rated it into 4.
the story was quite short so the "kilig" moment barely registered to me. however, i like the fact that diane made each other acknowledge the value of being just for "The one" that they like and not just do random act of one night stands. it's nice that justin's character, without any assurance of finding lexi, is quite firm on just wanting her only even if there are others willing to spend a night with him.
I really enjoyed this little novella. Although it was really fast-paced and they only spent one night together, I liked the chemistry they had together. Diane sure knows how to describe a steamy scene and I wanted to read more about them, and I loved the fact that she included an Epilogue. Thank you!! I always like to see what happens to our characters down the line.
