BLACKSTAR is an intriguing tale of Area 51, stranded visitors, cutting edge technology, and a megalomaniac General.
Fantastic things are going on at Groom Lake, things that defy our imagination. The greatest scientific minds of our day are working there. Several of them have disappeared when their usefulness was deemed over by General Devin.
General Devin reports only to the President . When President Sampson became concerned about the lack of accountability for the General, he asked his old friend, Raymond Eller, the Director of Homeland Security to assume a supervisory role over General Devin. The General could not have Eller or anyone else snooping around “his facility” and potentially discovering his most secret high tech weapon project, the BlackStar. Eller had to disappear as had the others who didn’t suit General Devin’s purposes.
When the BlackStar was finally completed and tested, the aliens made a surprise visit. It was clear that they were not pleased with the latest development. J, the alien who has been on Earth since the Roswell crash, remained behind, seeming to be deteriorating in health, but watching, always watching.
Marshall W. Huffman did not set out to be a published author. Most of his writing was for personal satisfaction. His wife, Susan, consistently tried to talk him into submitting his work for publication but the idea of rejection deterred him.
It wasn’t until 2012 that he finally gave in and at her insistence e-published his first book, THE END. That almost turned out to be a disaster when he accidentally published the rough draft instead of the finished book.
After that little setback and of course, republishing the finished manuscript, his writing career has really taken off.
Marshall’s first trilogy is THE EVENT and consists of THE END, THE BEGINNING, and THE REVELATION. His second trilogy is called THE SECOND CIVIL WAR. BOOK I- A NATION DIVIDED; BOOK II - A NATION AT WAR; and BOOK III - A NATION HEALING. The series is a look at today's world and what could well happen within the next few years.
He has also published a series of books entitled: THE LOGAN FILES with a central cast of characters. In addition, he has another series entitled: THE NORRIS FILES with its own set of central characters. He enjoys writing mysteries, techno-thrillers, and Sci-Fi.
His newest books THE BRINK – DEEP FLIGHT and THE BRINK – DAY OF RECKONING are intense techno-thrillers with Sci-Fi intertwined. His latest addition is CHIMERA. It is a look at what could well happen if we don’t stop twisting science in perverted way.
Marshall was born in Bainbridge, Georgia and grew up in Indiana. After spending eight years in the Navy, he attended Ball State University, earning a B.S. degree in Business.
During and after college, he was involved in the restaurant business and spent the next twenty-five years in all types of venues, eventually owing his own fine dining restaurant. After years of long hours, he decided on a career change.
He attended Eastern Illinois University earning a MBA. Because of his business background, Eastern Illinois University asked him to teach in the hospitality management program. He was recruited from Eastern to Parkland College and soon took over as the Program Director for the Hospitality Program.
During his tenure there, he became a chef and had a television show called Cooking around the World with Chef Marshall and taught a series of cooking classes for Continuing Education as well.
Professor Huffman retired from teaching along with his wife, Dr. Susan Huffman, to Tampa Bay Florida.

I love everything Roswell, aliens, government conspiracies, and all those kinds of tantalizing tells. BlackStar fulfilled my cravings for action, mystery, and conspiracies. As I read, it became clear that a lot of thought & research had been put in to come up with a fresh and (somewhat) plausible plot. I enjoyed reading the multiple character story lines and seeing how they folded nicely together in the ending. I found the characters to be fully developed, and while not always likable, they were believable. I really enjoyed this story, yet it was a long one coming in at 458 pages, Yikes! There are a few minor typos here and there, but not enough to take away from the story. I have read one other title from this author and will say that Marshall Huffman is a name that I will look for when I'm picking for my next action-packed, science fiction mystery. I recommend this title to readers of Science Fiction, mystery, and Alien conspiracies lovers like me :)
