Blood magic was supposed to keep Harry safe, but his relatives are expendable. Blood magic was supposed to keep Harry looking like his adoptive father, but it's wearing off. Blood is a bond, but so is the memory of hate -- or love.
I didn't think I'd like this trope. In fact, the whole Snape-is-really-Harry's-father thing still doesn't really do it for me.
BUT!
This was a good story. The writing is very tight - no long off-topic tangents - but enough detail is conveyed for the reader to get a good image. A lot of different ideas often found, and overdone, in fanfiction are touched on and explored but not pushed centre stage to the detriment of the plot. There's some pushy, tattletale Hermione...yet she doesn't get villainized. A bit of jealous prat Ron...but again, not villainized. A fair bit of Harry befriends Draco, with even a bit of flirting...but no romance, to my great surprise, emerges there. I liked the touch of bad boy Harry smoking muggle cigarettes and wearing tight leather pants; I also like the way sexy Harry walks the line between "yeah, okay" and "he's sixteen!"
Snape is a decent father but nowhere near perfect (like, seriously not perfect). But it works and the explanation of how he became Harry's father is decent.
One of the all-time best "Snape is really Harry's father" stories written - this one put the blood magic to interesting use, and the interpersonal drama and the realism in the emotional reactions of all the characters make this series a stand-out.
This may be one of the best books I've ever read. Not only is it extremely well-written, it has a riveting plot, and expands on Rowling's universe in logical ways. It's funny, it's suspenseful, it's sweet without being saccharine, and it is hopeful in ways we really need right now. I've read it probably more often than I should admit.
A story of interpersonal relationships, both of the family and friendships, status and race, as well as secrets and lies. It's very character driven, and was so captivating that I couldn't stop reading it for the past few days.

I wish I had known this… back then. As is, I DNF’d this after 60% because it is, now, just too different to “bite through” because the backstories for James and Severus are so unlike what canon and fanon know… not a fault of this story because it was designed before book 5 was even out, sure, but…
If I were to rate it now, I’d give it two stars. This isn’t fair to the story, so I refrain from rating.
