Hippocrates George Apostle was a Greek-American classicist, philosopher, and mathematician who is know for his translations of several works of Aristotle. He taught at West Virginia Wesleyan College, University of Rochester, Amherst College and the University of Chicago, and Grinnell College.
Dr. Apostle received a BA and MA in mathematics from Columbia University, Lic. En. Phil. from Laval University (Quebec). He received a PhD from Harvard University in 1942.
In 1961, he was named the Myra Steele Professor of Mathematics at Grinnell College.
