At what point do you stop fighting the events that have long been predetermined by the course of fate?
Cara Savannah falls fast and falls hard. She always has. The problem is the kind of guys she falls for. They aren't interested in anything more than a one night stand. Finally fed up with the years of heartache and lack of meaningful relationships, she vows to turn over a new leaf. Cara is going to let love take a backseat and focus on herself. Most importantly- no more tattooed bad boys. The question is, how long can she manage to evade what fate has orchestrated for her?
Abel Mileski is every bit your typical bad boy on the exterior, but life’s left him broken and jaded. After years of meaningless sex with girls only seeing him for his good looks and tattoos, he sees no value within himself. Ready for a change, he shuts down his desires and immerses himself in his career. However, when fate intervenes, he is completely unprepared. Meeting Cara ignites his desires. She’s not fazed by his ink, and when he tries to charm her, he fails. Stunned by her instant dislike of him, he is determined to find out why.
After months of sexual tension, they make a decision that will forever change their lives. Will that decision be what ultimately wrecks them or brings them back together?

LK you've rendered me speechless for the second time. I fucking love you for it. this series, just keeps getting better...
“I promised myself not to get involved with someone like him. Call me a bitch, or whatever you want, but I’ve had my heart smashed way too many times by guys just like this.”
First off, I have to give a HUGE apology to LK Collins for totally dropping the ball on the blog tour. There are no excuses, but… I’m going to give you one anyway. Lately, I’ve been in a really bad place – That I will explain in another post un-related to this phenomenal book. When I first started reading Determinism I didn’t know if I could fall in love, after my explicit love tryst with Vincent. I still claim that he’s mine and all, don’t you worry. However… I do believe that Abel is for sure my new beau. Come on now, Firefighter with tattoos. Who can resist that!? Anyways – I thought I was obsessed with LK Collins before… but LORD! Watch out woman! I just want to come give you a bear hug and a kiss on the cheek for being so amazingly talented with words and working your thoughts into the panties of everyone who reads your novels!
Determinism was unbelievably irresistible, sexy, fun, easily relatable, and draws on your heart strings. There is no doubt in my mind that you will DEVOUR this book in its entirety in one sitting. I mean I seriously can’t give enough adjectives to describe the deliciousness of LK Collins words of art! Anyone who didn’t read Fatalism, That’s your first mistake right there! READ IT! Not because you have to read it to enjoy this novel, because you don’t. Each book in this series CAN be read as a standalone. I recommend reading Fatalism first, but again – you don’t have to. For those who read Fatalism and loved it (because why wouldn’t you!?) Abel and Cara’s story will draw you in and never let you go. And if you remember… there is a fine line between love and hate.
“I couldn’t imagine not being with you – we have both come so far from the inividuals that we used to be, to now being an impressible twosome. I feel so lucky that we are on this journey together.”
I almost want to say that I loved these characters even more than I loved Vincent and Alexa. Maybe because Cara is more my type of person with her bitch attitude and her snarky sarcastic personality… which just MAYBE reminds me a little of myself. Cara’s inner battle with herself to not keep going down the same path that always hurts her in the long run, is one tough war between heart and mind. I totally understand where she is coming from though, cause seriously… who doesn’t love themselves a bad ass mofo? Don’t even bother lying to yourself! It’s just that asshole aftermath that we all hate. Finding a bad ass who isn’t a complete douchecanoe? Eeeeek. The one thing I didn’t like about her was her snap judgment. Although I would be a liar - if I said that I haven’t said something in my head, before I’ve actually had the chance to get to know someone.
“I want to prove how much you mean to me and show you that I’m never going to hurt you. I’m not going anywhere, so you better get used to things like this.”
Speaking of the sinful bastard himself… I’ll let you in on my feelings towards Abel. Two words. “Crooked Grin”… Are you with me on this? I Want. NEED. Desire. The perfection of his tattooed firefighter panty dropper smile, bad ass yet tender ways, did I mention tattoos? Or the sexiness of a man in a uniform? Or maybe… yeah I can’t even concentrate since I’m too busy swooning over a fictional character. (Per usual) As far as we know, Abel is a “reformed” bad boy and is on a straight path from his less than desirable past of women and bad reputation. I love the dedication that he shows towards every aspect of his life, and the determination he has to get what wants.
Who doesn’t love the whole fighting attraction love story!? I’m SUCH a sucker for it. Deny it all you want, but guess what… this is most definitely happening. MWUAHAHA! Determinism has everything you need. Sexual tension, angst, lust, raw and shocking moments, just the right amount of kink, moments of aggravation, and who doesn’t want to be called kitten with by a sex god who has a sideways smirk? I know I’d wait in line for that. I honestly can’t say enough good words about this story or its author. I can’t wait to see more of Cara and Abel in Essentialism, Book 3 in the series, which just happens to be about Bridgette (Alexa’s sister) and Troy (Abel’s friend). Do I need to mention that Troy is also a firefighter…? I didn’t think so either!
I won’t hesitate to buy anything new from LK Collins, without reading a synopsis or even seeing the cover. I don’t need to, and I’m a big fan of covers. Yea yea, don’t judge a book by it’s cover… I do! But I’m telling you, LK could write in crayon on a paper bag and hand it to me and I wouldn’t care as long as I can read the words of art put on paper by this incredible author! You will love LK Collins, “ONE CLICK” this author! Absolutely worth the every second of your precious reading time!
“There’s not a day that goes by where you don’t inspire me. You’ve made me this way, you make me want to be a better person.”
“I can’t remember who I was before I met you and quite frankly, I don’t want to.”
LK – these two quotes are perfect. Your way with words inspires readers everywhere, and there is no denying that you’ll be a NY Times BEST selling Author in no time. I know I haven’t been around much lately, but every time I get a chance to tell someone about your work, I don’t hesitate. I have nothing but the highest praise and utmost respect for you. I honestly hope that people everywhere get to read your novels and you become a new household name. You deserve it!
- Apologies for going completely fan girl. *Flails*

ONE REASON TO READ THIS BOOK: ABEL IS A SEXY, TATTOOED FIREFIGHTER. Okay, well there are tons of other reasons to read this amazing book, but I feel like that’s the catchiest one. L.K. Collins’ books are always so easy to read. They’re sexy, fun, heart-warming, heart-breaking, and relatable. For those who read Fatalism and need a recap, Cara is Alexis’ best friend and Abel is Vincent’s brother. And in Fatalism, we see Abel trying to win Cara over, while Cara is masking her attraction with hate. But there is a fine line between love and hate. A very fine line.
“I promised myself not to get involved with someone like him. Call me a bitch, or whatever you want, but I’ve had my heart smashed way too many times by guys just like this.”
Cara was more relatable to me than Alexa was. We are both in the medical field, we have the same snarky/bitchy personality, we are both guarded, and we are both in love with Abel. Well, not at first I guess. I loved the whole trying to fight the attraction thing Cara had going on in the beginning. It makes for lots of good sexual tension. In my opinion, I thought they got together too fast, but that’s because I’m a little masochistic and I love angst. I was glad when they got together though, because then Cara could stop trying to force a connection with Ben the “nice guy” who she works with. I hate when characters try to do that to hide from their true feelings. The heart wants what the heart wants. We never really find out how exactly she was hurt by bad boys before, but I can more than understand her desire to stay away from those kinds of guys. That being said, I hated how she judged Abel based on his tats and rumored reputation. She didn’t even give him a chance. But again, the denial made the book more angst-y, which is not a problem for me. And after he weaseled his way into her life, she never tried to push him away again.
“I have feelings for Cara like I never have for anyone else before. She makes me want to be a better person. She motivates me, she challenges me, and she drives me crazy all the time. I can’t think of anyone else but her, and just given that one fact things are already different.”
Abel is a reformed bad-boy. Or so we’re told. We never really see the man-whore side of him. By the time we meet him, he has already changed by throwing himself into his work. His firefighter job no less. Yum. Instead we see him going after Cara. He knows that they have an undeniable connection, and it amused me to see him relentlessly go after Cara. We all know how sexy it is to see a man go after what he wants. I also loved how he accepted everything about Cara, he never tried to make her change. Whenever he got upset, he just went all alpha male, which is definitely not a problem. I think Abel might be sexier than Vincent was. Maybe. He calls Cara Kitten. He’s a dirty talker. And he’s kind of kinky. Well, actually we see Alexa and Vincent get pretty kinky too in this one. But, Abel and Cara’s steamy scenes made my heart race. And there’s so many of them. Thank god. Abel was almost too good to be true in how he treated Cara. I almost strangled him at the end, but I settled for rolling my eyes and seething in silence. And maybe tossing my iPad aside. Poor Abel. Poor Cara.
“I want to prove how much you mean to me and show you that I’m never going to hurt you. I’m not going anywhere, so you better get used to things like this.”
I tore through this book. How could I not? It was very hot, and made me feel all gooey on the inside. They got together quicker than I expected, which only meant there was drama up ahead. So, I had to read faster to get to the drama. Abel had secrets that shocked me, but other than that the ending was predictable and made me smile. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. After all that Cara and Able have been through, I would have not been happy without a pretty ending for them. Cara and Abel complete each other. They were two broken people who found love in each other. There was also a good set up for the next book in the series. It’s about Bridgette, Alexa’s sister, and Troy, Abel’s firefighter friend. They had some sparks flying in this one. Can’t wait to read more about them.
“I promise to love you unconditionally for the rest of our life. The future is uncertain – we both learned that a few weeks ago. I don’t want another day to pass us by where we don’t live it to the fullest. I promise I will do everything in my power to make you the happiest woman alive.”
I was giving an ARC of this book which I was delighted with as I love the author and her work so much! So here's my honest review.....
If you liked book one in the Life. Destiny. Fate. series then you will LOVE Determinism! Cara and Able's story might be my favourite. I love Vincent and Alexis, but Cara and Able stole my heart from the get go.
In book one you see Cara first meeting Able when they go the pictures with Vince and Lex. Well this book starts off at the point right before there movie date and then shoots forward 8 months. You see when they first meet and the instant attraction on both sides. But no matter how much Cara likes Able she won't give in and be with him. Hsven't been burned more times then she cares to remember. Her track record with blokes is not a good one. And so fed up with her heart always been broken she vow's never again. And as Abel soon finds out she is one stubborn mare when she sets her mind to something. But Able is just as stubborn as she is only he vow's to get Cara no matter what he has to do. He's not one for giving up,and walking away isn't on the cards. SO they become friends. He flirts, she knocks him back and they have a good routine going in doing so.
But one night, there's just no fighting it anymore. Cara wants him so bad,she finally admits it to herself that she has to give it a try and stop living in the past because that's not living.
And oh god is there connection an unreal one! Them finally having sex is everything they both knew it would be and more. Like teenagers they can't keep there hands off each other, well if I'd a fire fighter like able I wouldn't be keeping my hands to myself either ;)
There relationship is going great. But of course there's always something there to knock you of course. Its called meeting the parents. Or should I say Cara's bat sh*t crazy mam. That makes for an interesting weekend away to say the least. But they deal with it. There's not much this couple couldn't deal with right? Mmmmmm don't be so sure.
There's always faith there to smack you in the face when you think things are finally perfect. As Cara and Abel are going to find out. There's up ands, laugh's and teary moments in this book. LK Collins done an AMAZING job with her second book, and I am not chomping at the bit for book three!
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. I gave this book 5 stars.
This is Cara and Abel's story. And is book 2 in the Life. Destiny. Fate. Series. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I enjoyed the story so much more because I had read book one first, so my suggestion is to get both books and read the first one first.
Cara is a damaged girl, she is so tired of getting her heart broken because she falls for the wrong guys all the time. She is determined to steer away from the bad boys and live her life without them in her life. She falls too hard and too fast, and she is sick of it. But one night she meets Abel and he is her typical guy that she falls for, and she is so determined not to fall for this man that she is just down right mean.
Abel is use to getting any woman he want's and he is tired of the one night stands and it being so easy. He bury's himself in work and is determined to live life the best way he can. That is until he meets the firecracker that we call Cara. He is so fascinated by the fact that she seems to be not interested in him at ALL. And that sets him off to try and win her over. She is mean and feisty and he loves it.
When they finally do give into each other, can they handle the rough waters that are ahead of them, go on this beautiful journey with Cara and Able and see why they were meant to be together. And in the end if that will be enough.
I loved this story, I have read the first book in this series and was afraid that I would not like this couple as much as I liked Vince and Alexa's story, but I loved it just as much. Cara tries so hard to stay away from Able and I wanted to just scream at her to give him a chance, but she finally let her walls down and went for it, I was so happy. Able was patient and willing to give her the time she needed to see that he wasn't going to hurt her the way she has always been hurt. All in all this was a beautiful story, and I was so glad that I had the chance to read it. Thank you so much L.K. I look forward to reading more from you in the future.
There is not 1 bad thing I can say about this book. The cover is absolutely beautiful and when you turn the pages of this story it also follows that beauty. The story is sexy and intoxicating.
We start with Abel, he is Vincent's brother from Fatalism. Abel is a fire fighter, he lives for his job and has the occasional hook-ups with no want for a future with any of them. He has a past that consistently haunts him. But when he meets Cara, Alexa's (from Fatalism) best friend there is something about her that draws him in, she is different and he wants her. Cara is also not looking for anyone and definitely not Abel. She has been warned about his playboy ways and does not want to fall in the same routine of "the bad boy" that she normally falls for. She wants sweet and nice and romantic and clean cut. She does not want her heart ripped out tattooed bad boy. Both Cara and Abel are emotional broken for different reasons. When the two finally give in to the feelings they have for one another they realize they have a connection which can't be denied. When they first start out they decide to keep it a secret. Even thought there is tension when the secret comes out this really is the best scenario written for each other. Without the outside involvement they were able to focus on each other and not outside opinions. They both quickly fall in love and look towards a future. L.K Collins does not give us a happy ending so quickly. She manages a few twist that will out these two to the test. It really tore be up inside, but I loved the outcome.
L.K Collins has really delivered a breathtaking and steamy story. The story is so good, but the hot sex scenes make it so much better. It is a book I had to finish in 1 sitting. I was so captivated by the story and the characters I did not want to put the book down. I enjoyed Fatalism and gave it 4 Stars, but Determinism is so much better. The writing, character development, and emotions play out brilliantly. A delicious follow-up book. This is a book you MUST buy and read immediately.
This is the first book I've read by LK & I'm happy to say I found a new author to follow. This a series but I didn't read the first book as they are all standalones that follow characters from the books. This is Abel & Cara's story. Abel is a yummy, hot, tattooed firefighter who uses women for the sole purpose of his pleasure. He hasn't met a woman that peaks his interest for a decade until he sets eyes on the sexy blond nurse, Cara. Cara is a sexy blond nurse who has the bad habit of falling fast & hard for the wrong tattooed guy. She's done getting her heart broken and is ready to date Mr. Nice Guy to save her battered heart. When Abel & Cara meet, they have an instant attraction & sexual chemistry is off the charts. Cara isn't giving Abel the time of day even though her heart & body are screaming YES! Cara does a great job of keeping Abel in the dreaded friends-zone but after months of resisting Abel's determination to break down her wall, Cara can't resist anymore!! The outcome of this is off the charts hot, Hot, HOT!!! Once the walls come down they're sexual chemistry combusts!! You will have to read this smoking hot book to see if Cara scares Abel off with her ability to fall in love fast or will it be Abel that can't change his player ways? A must read that does not disappoint!!
I was one of the lucky ones who received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I absolutely LOVED it!!! Abel and Cara's story was as good, if not better, than Vincent and Alexa's. I loved the sexual tension between them and how hard he had to work at getting her to finally accept him. Cara was so afraid of getting hurt again, and although Abel "wet her panties," she tried as hard as she could to keep him away because of his tattooed, bad boy look. When she finally relents and accepts that she can't be without him, things are awesome between them. The chemistry is beyond what she imagined and she finds herself falling hard for him. Things are getting so good, until tragedy strikes and Abel has to come to grips with his feelings for her and what their future can be. I was having such an anxiety attack during this time, hoping nothing happened to destroy their love. I was crying when he finally confesses his feelings. The words he spoke to her were beautiful!!! At one point in the story, I lost it... I was at Super cuts and people were looking at me, making a mess of my face, but I didn't care. I am so thankful that I was allowed to share in this story before the official release.... I Love Abel. He is my curremt BB!!!
What can I say LK did it again! If you liked Fatalism you will certainly like this book. In Determinism we have Cara & Abel who we know want each other but are trying real hard to deny their feelings for the sake of friendship. Can't say I blame Cara, they have a great friendship. The banter between the two of them had be laughing out loud while trying to sneak in reading at work. The thing I liked about this book what how real it was. The characters where real people. I loved the sexual tension between the two of them. At many times I was talking to my iPad telling Cara to just give in already I mean how can you control yourself around the hot and sexy Abel. This book will have you laughing, crying and blushing all in one sitting. In my opinion it's most certainly a must read but I am a sucker for a hot and steamy drama so if that's your type of book then wait no longer and get yourself a taste of Cara and Abel in Determinism. You won't be disappointed ;-)
I loved this book. Determinism is the 2nd story in the series but luckily you do not have to read part 1 in order to understand this story. I fell in love with the characters and their story.
Cara always falls for the tatted up bad boys and gets her heart broken. She doesn't want to do that anymore. Cara wants a good boy but when she starts to fall for Abel (a tatted up fire fighter and brother of best friends boyfriend) she can't stop herself. After pushing their relationship away they both finally decide to just go for it and see where it can take them. They really end up falling for each other and can't stand being away from one another. They just can't seem to get enough of each other. They have a great relationship with lots of HOT S-E-X and are having a great time. Then one morning Cara doesn't feel good and their relationship takes a turn.
I can't give away what happens but it is a definite read! I can't wait to read more from LK Collins!
Abel, he's more of show than tell kind of person, "do you feel what you do to me? Do you have any idea the control you have over my body." And he's curious about certain things, "do you really not wear underwear?" And ladies the man is endowed beyond belief just as Cara and those cray cray thoughts she has, "Abel gets up, and he walks by, I can't miss the hard on he has. I look up and him and he puts his hand over it. "It's just morning wood, kitten. Don't worry. Nothing like that happened last night." He walks off and goes into what I assume is the bathroom. Holy s***, his di** is huge. Alexa told me Vincent was hung, but I never thought about Abel being big as well. Clearly he is, because I've never seen anything like that before." I have to say I loved Abel and Cara more than Vincent and Alexa I think it's because LK's writing grows with each book she writes which means I'm probably going to LOVE Troy's story.
I am very thankful I was given this book as an ARC.... Read it in one sitting.
The love story continues in this series ... Abel n Cara are both stubborn n determined ppl. Can they both take their heads out their asses to admit that they are meant for each other? You would have to read the book to find out... So go do that!!!!
I enjoyed it very much ESP the uh hum intimate scenes. Makes you want to put the book down n hunt your significant other lmao!!! The book also makes you wonder about life n how short it can be. So you have to go for the goal. Even if it doesn't come out positive at least u know you tried n tried . But sometimes w determination , life can sure surprise you. Love this series and I can't wait for Troy n Bridgette's story !!! Great job LK Collins!! :)
Oh my!! Abel is the man of my dreams right behind my husband;) I loved Abel and Cara's story. The fact that she tried to pretend he was some annoying jerk she wasn't interested in and him not giving up for months and months was fun. His persistence paid of for sure! These 2 had so much hot sex. I wouldn't expect any less coming from a naughty nurse and a sexy, muscled, tattooed fireman. My only complaint is I want more Cara and Abel!!!!!! :-)
One thing I like about this novel – Cara is a nurse, yay, just like me!
She falls in love really fast, and she plummets really hard. Cara tends to fall in love with the bad guys – the guys who just wanted to spend a night in her bed and leave the next day. Just as when she decided she’d had enough and is willing to get into a real, meaningful relationship or just focus on her career and on herself, Abel came along.
Tattooed, smoking hot and had bad-boy slapped on his forehead, Abel Mileski may appear hardcore on the outside, but deep down he’s broken. Life had been rough on him, and he wasn’t willing to risk his heart only to get broken again. Only that, he’s tired of the meaningless, no-string attached relationships that he’s been having. So he decided to finally to focus on his career as the new youngest fire chief. Then, all of a sudden he meets Cara – she was different from all the other girls he had been with. She was not charmed by him, and even declines his invitation – but he’s persistent, determined. And as what they say, good thing comes to those who wait.
He waited, he wooed, and he had her. It was magic, it was hot, sweaty, glorious sex. And I was wondering – what can possibly go wrong between these two people who are obviously crazy about each other?! They love each other, spend so much time together, and finally have the support of their friends. Abel was no longer playing around, you can feel his sincerity – (I was like - WHAT NOW?!)
Oh yes – I had not seen it coming, because really, I was thinking it was all there is. Just when I was about to give up, and convince myself that they wouldn’t have any problems… LK Collins surprised me. Now question is – how can Abel make it all right once again and give ME a happy ending?
Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading the novel – the wooing, the chase, the twist, and yes, especially the steamy scenes that will leave you envious of Cara. She’s soooo lucky!
Determinism is short, sexy, steamy, and easy on the heart. I love reading novels that is able to have me swoon without wasting a box of tissue.
★ARC Copy was given in exchange for an honest review.★
Determinism – what you need to get what you want. Abel gets a call from his brother to go to the movies and his brother’s girlfriend will be bringing along her best friend Cara. This is the last thing he wants to do at that moment but as long as the best friend is hot he will go. Of course, Cara is HOT and instantly Abel is drawn to her and wants to spend more time with her.
Cara is so tired of the same old guys that always end up breaking her heart. She is determined to stay away from the tattooed guys and try to become attracted to a different type. When she sees Abel for the first time though, the attraction is unbearable. She is determined though, no matter how much he tries to charm her she will not give into his games.
I struggled with my ‘like’ of Cara at first because she was so determined not to be interested in Abel no matter how hard he came at her. I know she was just trying to protect herself and her heart but the attraction was so intense that she should have given him a chance sooner that she did. I didn’t like how she tried to feel something and be attracted to Ben.
Abel was determined though…. He wanted to prove to Cara that they were meant to be together and I loved how they started with the friends and transitioned from there. Friendship is a good foundation for a healthy relationship so I think that helped Cara open up to Abel more and truly see the person he was and not the heartbreaking scum she had envisioned in her head. Although their journey is not completely without trials I loved how they grew together. They were both unsure of their feelings or how to tell the other how they felt. They learned from their mistakes and depended on each other. I will say I was upset with Abel at one point in the story but no guy is completely perfect so I have to let his error slide and love him anyway. You know from his past that he has fears too and it’s sometimes hard to look past those and realize
You can’t really go wrong with this book. The attraction and sexual tension is off the charts along with the physical aspect of their relationship. Abel is a sexy, tattooed firefighter so you can only imagine the images that will come to your mind while reading. This is definitely a book to add to your “to be read” list!
I just finished reading Determinism and just loved it. Abel and Cara are so cute and sweet together. I was definitely hoping they would have their Happily Ever After. Abel is Vincent's brother and Cara is best friends with Alexa. Alexa and Vincent are from Fatalism. Determinism is stand alone but I would suggest reading Fatalism first so you can get all good feel for all the characters. Cara has been burned in the past and doesn't want to keep repeating and making mistakes so she has decided to cut out all bad boy MO and not even bother. Abel is known has a horn dog, takes it and then leaves but he feels differently towards Cara and tries to win her over. He does have a past and once you read about it then you realize why he is the way he is and I completely understand it. Man, the angst in this book is so high. One of the most that I have read and when they get together, BOOM! Explosive!!!! But once they are able to satisfy their hunger will they last? You will have to read and see....
I did love this story, it flowed really well. Its always the hard ones that fall the hardest and I loved every minute of it. I did feel for both of them. I understand where Abel and Cara are both coming from and I was hoping they would get past their past and live towards their future. Man, sex with them was smoking and amazing. Definitely wished I was her!!!!
Everyone was their from the first one and introduced some others. Alexa is still her sweet and loyal self. Vincent, grrr sexy as hell. Bridgette and Troy will be next in the story line. I so cannot wait and I am super excited to see what happens, especially with all of them!!!
I totally love the Abel and Cara story. At times it felt like maybe, just maybe there was a little too much sex. I know, who ever thought that I would say THAT. But, don't hate me, it did. Now that I have that minor little complaint out of the way, let me tell you why this book was still so so good. Cara is bound and determined to not get involved with Abel. Plus when Vincent warns her how he's a wham bam thank you ma'am kind of guy, she's even more put off. She doesn't want to get back into that kind of relationship. I'm over here all GO CARA! Way to have some self respect and want to find a man who sees your self worth. I was totally in girl power mode. But just like cara, Abel wears you down. He's like a little stray puppy you know you shouldn't take home but you can't help but indulge and do it. But then he becomes your best friend. Yeah. Totally Abel. He really does become not only her best friend, but her confidant. And when she starts fibbing to Lex, I was all RUH ROH. Trouble ahead. Then I had to stop and ask- why IS she lying. Bad Cara, bad. Abel starts to morph into this super dependable good man that you can't help but love. Who had a cat names Puss, that alone earns him points in my book. Cara and Abel's relationship starts off physical but it morphs into this really deep, strong relationship. It gets tested more than once and just when you think they're in clear waters, it's deeper than you thought and a rough sea ahead. Hold on to your poncho folks, rough waters ahead. That's all I'm gonna say. Okay, I will say one more thing. She gets a kick ass new Tesla from Vince! He did keep his word from Fatalism. That I thought was funny. I though this book was really good and if you like Fatalism, you will like this. I have it 3.5 hearts.
~First I want to say you can read Determinism as a standalone but I feel you are completely missing out on some amazing background on the characters in this story by not reading Fatalism. This is just my opinion~
I have been waiting for Determinism's release since I met Abel and Cara in Fatalism! Thank you LK Collins for making Determinism all I hoped it would be and more! It was well worth the wait :-) I love how LK Collins writes! Her books are so full of story, fabulous characters and, SMOKIN' HOT SEXINESS! I promise you will need a cold shower after reading some of the sexy scenes in Determinism, definitely not a flirty read ;-) Determinism will have you turning the pages wanting more, I love when a book has great flow.
I adore Cara's character, not complicated just a girl guarding her heart while looking for a nice guy to love. I have wanted more of Abel from the moment I read about him in Fatalism. I love that he's a strong alpha male without being controlling. He's just determined ;-) It was great getting to know more about both of these characters but Abel's character was the one that surprised me the most, you'll see! Marla was another amazing character, very complex. I was very excited to get a little more of Vincent and Alexa but it wasn't enough, love them!!! Now I can't wait for Bridgette and Troy's story. Seriously, I love the characters in this series!
Determinism is just the book you are looking for to keep you warm at night, heck even your husband will be kept warm after you read this one *wink wink*... SMOKIN' HOT ;-) Great flow, sexy, fun and adventurous characters. If you are looking for a great read without being left full of pent-up angst or a bad book hangover Determinism is just what you are looking for :-)
Hot fireman alert! Hot tatted man alert! What a minute…you get both in one HOT man! Abel Mileski is one hot package. He is determined to get the girl, Cara Savannah. Cara is determined to stay away from Abel. She has sworn off all tattooed bad boys just like Abel. She has a bad habit of falling fast and hard for them, only to get her heart broken. However, it’s hard to avoid him all together since her best friend, Alexis, is in a relationship to his brother, Vince. Even though Abel is a playboy, he is determined to win Cara and give up his playing ways. There is just something about her that draws him in. He is super sweet and I love how he keeps trying and finds ways through her defenses. He really is a great guy.
They fall fast and hard for each other as they finally give in to the heat. I absolutely love them together. They are both a little damaged, but together, they are perfect. They are always there for each other, always lending support when needed. And my, oh my, is the sex H-O-T! Of course, what makes a good book even better, than a little bit of drama? They hit a huge snag in the relationship. The author added the right amount of angst. I HAD to keep reading to find out what happened. I fell in love with Abel even more during this hard time. His true character showed through.
I think this book is an improvement from Fatalism. I actually connected to the characters a bit in this book, and was a lot more invested in this story. This is a quick read, with A LOT of steam. I can’t wait to read to read book 3, Essentialism, Bridgette and Troy’s story.
(ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review)
Determinism is book #2 in the Life. Destiny. Fate., series and is Cara and Able’s story.
As we learned from Fatalism, Cara has a thing for tattooed bad boy’s who she falls head over heel’s for while then just wanna play at being ‘Doctor & Nurse’s’. So when tattooed bad boy Able walks in to her life her is already over that and she is determined not to give in to her weakness.
Able is a hot tattooed fire fighter who wants Cara like he wants his next breath of air. He doesn’t do relationships, hasn’t for over 10 years. Not sure he wants one now but what is does want is Cara and he is determined to have her.
I can’t honestly say that I preferred book #1 over #2 or vice versa. They both captured my attention is different ways. Able did kick ass over Vince though, must be the uniform……… I love the relationships that L.K Collins created around Cara and Able with the secondary characters. Be them a memory for either Cara and Able or be them planted firmly in the here and now; the ex’s, the Mum, the sister and of course there’s Alexa and Vince too. It’s a story of love, fear and angst has lil bit of everything to keep you hooked. Did I mention it was steamy? Oh yeah it’s hot, prepare to have a bucket of ice on hand to keep your Kindle cool.
The book flowed really well and moved through the scenes at a good speed. L.K Collins has managed to write a sequel that will have you as hot and bothered as the first book in the series without boring you with it.
I LOVE books that are part of a series, whether it’s about the same characters or if it’s a series about characters who are all connected in some way. LK Collins has delivered and did not disappoint. Cara and Abel’s story is HOT!
Ladies if you like hot, tattooed, firefighters (who wouldn’t), then this is the book for you. Abel is all of those things and so much more. He knows what he wants and does everything he can to get it, and what he wants is Cara. Cara, who has been wounded by many bad relationships and a habit of falling too fast for the guys she dates, avoids Abel and the instant attraction she feels for him. She sees him as being just like all the other guys she’s dated in the past and is determined to keep her distance and not fall for him. But Abel has a different plan. Even though Cara is doing everything she can to keep her distance, Abel is doing everything he can to prove to her he is nothing like the guys before him. Will he get her to give into everything she feels when he’s around? Read and find out ;) Lots of twists and turns in the story that will keep you dying to know what’s next.
Whew… I think a fanned myself through much of this book. Did I mention it’s hot? Oh, I did, well good. I think I might need a firefighter of my own to put out the flames from this book. The sexual tension between these two characters is definitely there and you will feel it. Can’t wait to read more from LK Collins! ~Lauren
Determinism - Cara Savannah falls fast and falls hard.
Really enjoyed Cara and Abel's story! The story flowed and was a quick, hot read! Once I started it, I had to finish!!! We first met Abel in Fatalism, he is Vincent's brother and Cara is Alexa's best friend. I was glad to see Vincent and Alexa thru out the book!
Cara had made a decision to stay far away from the "bad boys" for she always ended up with her heart broken. She thought Abel was one of those 'bad boys" b/c on the side he was a tatted up Harley rider~ oh did I mention he is the Fire Chief at one of the firehouses in Denver? That fact had me hooked from the start! Abel was determined to make Cara see that they could be perfect together.... he kept after her and she kept fighting those feelings she had. When the 2 of them came together for the first time.... I thought my kindle was going to melt~
Could the 2 of them weather the storm they are about to be put thru? Read it....you will not be disappointed.
On a side note~ very excited to get Troy and Bridgette's story!
Whoa...Cara and Abel's story was holy moly hot...beyond five alarm hot! I love these two characters so much and was thrilled to also see Vince and Alexa back. Charlie sure taught his boys how to please a woman and with that I mean out of the bedroom...god knows where they learned the rest! Cara was so determined to stay away from "bad boy" Abel but who could resist him...how was he ever a "bad boy"??? I really wanted to know more about Abel's past and what made him such a man-whore in his brother's eyes , he seemed pretty perfect to me. Cara is strong and smart and caring and she knew from the start that Abel would be her man... she just needed a little convincing...boy that was fun!! Her mom and sister are fun characters who I hope we get to see some more of...maybe in a story about fun loving Amber...hint, hint ! I think we are in for another sexy and fun story when Bridgette and Troy's book is released, who can resist another fireman? Abel set the bar pretty high!!! Thanks L.K.Collins .
All I can say is that this book is HOT HOT HOT! Although this is the second in the series and can be read as a stand alone, I suggest reading Fatalism also. Both books are great!
Cara is tired of getting burned by the same type of guy. Her MO...Sexy, tatted up, bad boys. She is ready for a serious relationship. Something like her friends Vincent and Lex have. So when Vincent's brother started showing interest in her, she just knew that she had to stay away. Abel is the Fire Chief in town, but also drives a motorcycle and has the most wonderful tattoos. Just like her MOs. There is only one problem. The more she is around him, the more she is falling for him. Abel can't get Cara off of his mind. He has a past that is keeping him from taking the steps he needs to finally make Cara his.
LK knows how to write strong, opinionated women and sexy as all get out guys. Highly recommend this sensual read! 4.5 Stars.
I really liked the story and loved the characters in it! Abel is a hot fire chief with tattoos and nipple piercings! Cara is a sweet, headstrong nurse, trying to find her Happily Ever After, especially since it looks like Alexa and Vincent have theirs. I love when the male lead tries to be all Alpha Male but is determined not to give up if the girl keeps rejecting him – that’s exactly what Abel did and instead of screwing around while he was waiting for Cara, he didn’t talk to any women and was truly just patiently waited for her to take months to come to her senses. When she did realize she couldn’t fight his charms any longer, they were nothing but explosive together! The sex was hot and they were really sweet to one another. Loved the kinkiness – costumes, cock rings and lube… oh yeah!
Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Troy and Bridgette! And looooved Puss!

The cover already grabbed my attention so I knew I was in for a treat!
Within the first few chapters I was hooked!!! I just could not put it down.
There's so much I can say about this book, but I'll be spoiling it for the rest of you that have yet to read this .
What I can tell you is this ....one of my favorite reads this year, made my personal top 10.
Vincent and Lex were made for each other! Their story had me melted in puddles, in a rage that would have Goliath quaking in his leather sandals, and also sobbing like a momma seal!
There were moments that will stick .... when Bridgette and Lex get their tattoos ,their ink had meaning and was sentimental another moment that sticks with me is when Bridgette explains her script tattoo to Lex, I cried buckets !
Be prepared for Abel to melt your panties ladies, this man is HOT HOT HOT!! One thing I know is I love LK Collins and her books and she has not disappointed me with this one! I read it in one sitting, not wanting to put it down. Cara and Abel have explosive sexual tension and wow it really makes for an amazing *stir it up* read! LK knows how to write her characters so that they are relatable and we fall in love with them and all we want to do is dive into their lives and see what is going to happen next.
I can’t get enough of these books, they are so well written and the storyline is solid and interesting too, I love getting into the character’s heads and I can do that with these ones.
So I HIGHLY recommend reading Fatalism and Determinism! 6 Stars!
I was provided a ARC My first one actually. (; Wow! I can see such a growth in LKs writing. I really liked Fatalism but I loved Determinism. Abel stole my heart. I'm a badboy lover and him having all those tattoos plus being a firefighter! What is more sexier than that?!? The sexual chemistry between the two. It's hotttt! I love what they do for a living. They are selfless, caring individuals. When a book makes me cry it's a damn good book! And I cried. I love when I feel every emotion, when I can place myself in that position. Cara is a total badass I love her! And Abel he's mine (; thank you LK Collins for such an amazing story!! I cannot wait for Bridgette and Troys story!❤️
